Finishing with plaster tiles imitating a stone. What to glue a gypsum decorative stone on

Tomato blanks for the winter

It seems that new ideas will never run out in the world of interior design. Tired of regular wallpaper? Here are some canvases with 3D drawings. Don't want to glue wallpaper at all? Then you can try decorative plaster... Do you want the room to look simpler and more elegant? Brickwork will become a great solution... In this case, of course, we are not talking about a real brick. To create such a design, gypsum tiles are used that imitate decorative rock or brick. You can hire workers to make such repairs, or take care of them yourself. But for this you have to understand some theoretical issues. And first of all - choose a special adhesive for gypsum tiles. Because without the right product good result do not receive.

Composition

If you are going to glue gypsum tiles on concrete, brick, plaster or drywall (and this is probably so, because the listed surfaces are the most common), then you need to purchase special gypsum glue. This is a general name, in fact, the means that are used to interior decoration, a large number of. They differ in compositional features.

  • Dry mixes mainly consist of construction alabaster and plasticizers. The latter are needed so that the glue sets and hardens faster.
  • In this case, you should carefully read the composition - cheaper products are usually diluted with sand. Naturally, such glue for gypsum tiles should not be used, because it is unreliable.
  • And if you doubt the honesty of the manufacturer, then you should know that direct indication of the presence of sand in the composition is not the only way to determine the quality of the product. The boxes should always indicate the amount of water required to dilute the glue. If one kilogram of powder, according to the manufacturer, requires less than three hundred milliliters of water, before you is clearly diluted with sand alabaster.

Plaster glue isn't the only option. You can also use liquid nails or glue to secure gypsum tiles. ceramic tiles... True, liquid nails are convenient to use only for a small area. And a product for ceramic tiles is more expensive than a specially designed one for gypsum.

Specifications

Consider specifications all means that can be used to fix gypsum tiles.

  • Gypsum dry mixes. It is not for nothing that a special substance was developed for tiles made to resemble a brick. The fact is that due to the porous structure, such tiles in a large number absorb moisture. And the liquid in the diluted composition is needed for the correct, fast and uniform hardening of the cement. So it is not at all suitable for repairs with such a tile. But the gypsum mixture is designed specifically for such cases. It has a high solidification rate.
  • Liquid glue or liquid nails. The main advantage of these products is that they are sold ready-made and conveniently packaged. In addition, they are just as reliable and easier to apply than gypsum glue (when using it, it is difficult to keep the room clean). Here are just the cost of finished formulations is much higher. And usually they are sold in small quantities, so they are used in small areas.
  • Reactive glue. This tool consists of the glue itself and the catalyst, thanks to which the curing process will begin. The product is suitable for application on any surface, it is very convenient to use. But it freezes faster than all of the above. So it should only be used by experienced workers.

What to glue the decorative stone on?

So, which means is more suitable for fixing a decorative stone?

  • You can use the classic cement mortar, which is used for other types of tiles. But due to the specifics of the structure of the stone, the cement will harden for a very long time. It is also not very flexible.
  • Liquid nails are also versatile. But this is an expensive option. It is better to use them if you need to attach a small number of tiles.
  • Reactive adhesive is suitable for all materials and surfaces. It is easy to apply. But it freezes very quickly. If this is the first time you are gluing tiles, then this is not a suitable tool, due to any delay, the work will be ruined.
  • Gypsum glue - the best way for newbies. Special glue for decorative stone hardens faster than cement, but allows you to work at a calm pace. It is suitable for almost all surfaces.

Glue consumption for 1 m 2 and 1 m 3

Another important thing to know when starting a renovation is how much glue you need to apply. Calculations must be made in advance.

Firstly, it will help even at the stage of purchase - no one wants to spend money on extra packaging, because if applied correctly, gypsum tiles will serve you for a very long time. If you buy too little, this will also become a problem - you will have to urgently buy the missing amount, and the glue of the same brand may not be in the store. It is highly undesirable to use products of different brands together.

Secondly, the calculations are also important during the installation process - if you choose a glue that you will dilute yourself, you need to remember that the finished composition hardens quickly enough. And if you prepare a lot of solution, then it will be wasted.

So, on average, 1 cubic meter of decorative stone requires 43 kilograms of dry glue. On 1 square meter approximately five kilograms of gypsum powder is required. In this case, the amount of substance depends on the size of the tile. The standard layer is six millimeters. But if you glue large tiles (the side of which is more than twenty-five centimeters), then the glue layer should also be thicker.

Manufacturers

Consider the main manufacturers of adhesives for decorative stones.

  • PLUSFIX. One of the most inexpensive options as it is cement mixed with sand. It can only be applied to concrete and brick walls. Also, it is only suitable for small tiles (with sides less than twenty-five centimeters).
  • PERFLIX is the preferred option, as the glue is made of plaster and special additives that increase its elasticity and speed of drying. The ready-made solution must be used within half an hour. Glue is sold in packages weighing thirty kilograms. And this amount will need fifteen liters of water.
  • Satyn PKG-28 - more good option for those who are engaged in laying tiles for the first time. Due to the addition of special substances, the glue is very plastic. And the solution remains usable longer than the remedy described above - as much as fifty minutes. Sold in packs weighing twenty-five kilograms.
  • Gypsum is another mixture of gypsum and minerals. The finished solution must be used within half an hour, and on the wall it dries faster than the previously listed funds - in a day. A package weighing thirty kilograms will require approximately eighteen liters of water.

Application rules

There are several things to follow when using glue. simple rules and accurately follow the sequence of actions.

  1. Start by thoroughly cleaning the surface. Of course, we are talking about traces of the old coating (wallpaper, glue, etc.), and about dirt and dust.
  2. Dry the walls thoroughly.
  3. It will be useful to apply a primer. Some surfaces are highly absorbent. Accordingly, they will pull it out of the applied glue, which will make it harder to harden.
  4. You can work only in a room where the temperature does not drop below plus five degrees.

Due to the fact that gypsum stone tiles imitate natural material, all specimens are different. Therefore, it is worth laying out several tiles on the floor in advance in order to imagine how individual sections will look on the wall.

  1. You need to use water room temperature.
  2. Pour the entire amount of water into a bucket or basin immediately (calculate it following the manufacturer's advice).
  3. Stir the water with a stick or an unplugged construction mixer to create a funnel.
  4. Pour powder slowly into this funnel.
  5. Stir the glue thoroughly. Better with a construction mixer, as there is always a risk of lumps appearing.
  6. Do not cook a lot of glue at once - remember that it deteriorates very quickly.

Apply a thin layer of glue to the wall first. And then on the tiles themselves. Place the tiles against the wall and press down firmly with your hands.

Output

Gypsum tiles that imitate bricks and stones - interesting solution for repair. To decorate a room with such a design, it is not at all necessary to contact specialists. You can also glue the tiles yourself. But it is important to choose the right materials, including the adhesive. Preference should be given to special gypsum glue.

Internal facing of surfaces with decorative gypsum tiles (gypsum stone) imitating natural materials (stone, brick, wood) is widespread due to a number of advantages of this material. Gypsum (alabaster, selenite) is environmentally friendly, safe, heat-resistant and easy to process.

The disadvantages of this material are hygroscopicity (accumulation of moisture from environment), the lack of moisture resistance and low impact resistance are overcome by impregnating the tiles with special hydrophobic compounds and using them for finishing premises that are not used as industrial ones. But there is one more condition for the successful operation of gypsum cladding - the correct choice of tile adhesive.

Gypsum tiles are used for exterior cladding and interior decoration of interiors

Consider the types of adhesive mixtures used in the decoration of walls made of brick, concrete, stone and plaster with decorative alabaster cladding, and the methods of their use, depending on the type of base.

Types of adhesives for gypsum tiles

All types of ready-to-install gypsum tiles have the same, except for geometric and artistic, characteristics, therefore the choice of glue for mounting selenite depends on the type of base to be tiled and the volume finishing works... Alabaster veneering adhesives can be divided into the following groups:

  1. Special mixes based on gypsum.
  2. Compositions suitable for laying selenite tiles.
  3. The materials at hand used for the installation of gypsum stone.

Consider these groups of adhesives.

Special gypsum-based adhesives

In order to glue gypsum stone on the most common types of bases (brick, concrete, plaster, drywall), manufacturers of adhesives offer specialized mixtures, united in a group called "gypsum assembly adhesives".

Assembly adhesives

Mounting gypsum glue is a dry mixture of building alabaster and plasticizing additives, which is mixed with a certain amount of water and used for mounting selenite tiles, as well as sealing cracks, seams, shells and chips on brick, stone and plastered surfaces.

Let's consider which glue is better and what you need to pay attention to when buying it.

  • Quartz sand content

The dry mix may contain white quartz sand, which is added by the manufacturer to reduce the cost of the material. The presence of this additive in the glue is necessarily indicated on the packaging of the material, and when choosing a composition, it is better to give preference to a mixture without sand or with minimal inclusion, since sand impairs adhesion.

  • The ratio of the weight of the dry mixture and the amount of water required for its mixing

The degree of adhesion of gypsum adhesive depends on the percentage of alabaster in the mixture. The quality of the adhesive can be assessed by analyzing the required amount of water indicated on the package in the instructions for preparing the glue - at least 300 ml of water should be needed for 1 kg of dry mixture.

If less than 300 milliliters of water is required, then there is little gypsum in the glue, and there are many cheap additives.

  • Setting time of the prepared glue

This indicator determines the duration of fixing the tiles on the surface by hand after installing the product in place and, accordingly, the speed of finishing. The suitability of the solution in a bucket in time, depending on the manufacturer, ranges from 30 minutes to one hour. When choosing an adhesive, preference should be given to a material whose shelf life is as close to half an hour as possible. This will reduce the portions of the mixture prepared, but will allow the parts to be glued at a fast pace.

Preparation and use of gypsum-based adhesives

Instructions for preparing a mixture for laying alabaster tiles are available on the packaging of the material.

A measured amount of the dry mixture is gradually introduced with constant stirring into the required amount of water. If you do the opposite - pour water into the mixture, then with stirring, the formation of lumps is inevitable.

After reaching a homogeneous mass, the glue is allowed to stand for several minutes, then the composition is mixed again, after which the solution is ready for use.

Glue Alabaster on a gypsum basis - specialized dry mix

Depending on the manufacturer, the preparation methods may differ in the amount of water required to mix a unit weight of the dry mix, and the holding time of the mixed solution before re-mixing before use.

The surface to be faced (brick, concrete, plaster) must first be primed with a hydrophobic primer to retain moisture in the adhesive upon contact with them, and the seams of the brickwork must be rubbed off with a leveling compound.

For laying gypsum tiles, glue is applied with a flat spatula to the base and back of the product, after which its excess is removed with a comb-spatula. The tool, so that lumps of the hardened composition do not form on it, must be rinsed more often in water. The total thickness of the layers of the adhesive mixture after pressing the product at the installation site should not exceed one and a half centimeters.

Full strength is achieved by the mixture, as a rule, one day after the installation of the tiles. The final drying time of the composition, depending on the manufacturer and the humidity in the room, can vary from four to seven days.

Adhesives suitable for laying selenite tiles

The following materials are alternatives to special gypsum-based assembly mixtures:

  • adhesives for ceramic tiles;
  • "liquid Nails".

Liquid nails for renovation work

Consider the methods and feasibility of using these tools when facing surfaces with alabaster.

Since gypsum cladding is not used for finishing rooms with difficult operating conditions, alabaster parts can be glued to almost all types of glue for laying ceramics. The technology of using tile adhesives for gluing alabaster tiles does not differ from the methods of using them for facing with ceramics. If the surface is prepared correctly, gypsum tiles can be laid even on ready-made polymer adhesive mixtures.

It should be noted that mixtures for laying tiles have higher physical characteristics than compositions based on selenite. But in the case of facing with alabaster tiles, these materials have no advantages over gypsum glue, their use is permissible, but not advisable for the following reasons:

  • when using glue for ceramics, the selenite facing must be necessarily primed, since gypsum, due to its hygroscopicity, will pull out the moisture necessary for curing from the glue;
  • for tile glue, the period of complete drying is longer than for gypsum mixture;
  • due to the high characteristics, the price of adhesives for ceramics is higher, and their advantages remain unclaimed.

Adhesives for laying ceramic tiles

If you use a two-component epoxy-based mixture, then gypsum tiles can be glued even to a metal or plastic base, but for this you have to reinforce the back surface of alabaster products, which will greatly complicate the work. In addition, the high cost of strong and durable reactive compounds does not dispose to their use when laying gypsum tiles, which usually do not plan to operate for a long time.

Installation of alabaster on "liquid nails"

This method of laying alabaster products is quite acceptable when finishing small areas of the surface and making spot repairs of gypsum cladding. The glue is applied pointwise or in the form of stripes on the back side of the tile, after which the part is kept for 10-15 minutes to dry the applied composition. Then the alabaster product is applied to the base to be veneered at the design location and evenly pressed to the required level.

Fastening the selenite finish to the brick without first grouting the masonry joints is impractical due to the high consumption of glue.

"Liquid nails" provide a strong fastening of the tile, without the need for professional skills. In addition, "liquid nails" are a completely ready-to-use glue that does not require any tool for use, except for an assembly syringe. It is also convenient to glue the details on "liquid nails" by the fact that in the process there is almost no contamination of the finish and the room accompanying the work.

The strength of liquid nails is quite significant

"Liquid nails" are a safe and environmentally friendly material, but the cost of its application in terms of the square of the finish is high for medium and large volumes of work, so this adhesive is not often used for cladding.

Use for plaster finishing of improvised means

Alabaster cladding can also be glued using non-traditional, non-adhesive building materials.

Building alabaster, mixed with water in the right proportion, will successfully fix tiles to bricks, concrete and plaster. The surface to be trimmed must be pre-primed with an aqueous solution of latex in a ratio of 1: 4. The white color of the mixture is convenient for laying tiles that are made by yourself and have no artistic coloring. To increase the hardening time of alabaster, you can add hardening inhibitors, also prepared by your own hands, to it, for example, a solution of glue or soap.

It is also possible to glue gypsum stone on drywall, brick, concrete and plaster with a paint putty, both leveling and finishing. It is mixed according to the instructions, calculated for leveling the surface, and then with the help of spatulas it is successfully used for installing tiles. The mixture is applied in a continuous layer up to 10 mm thick to the back side of the product and leveled, after which the cladding part can be reliably glued to the design site on the base.

Conclusion

The cost of most special gypsum-based adhesives is low, therefore it is unreasonable to choose the cheapest one - the low quality of the adhesive mixture will entail periodic drops and destruction of finishing elements, which may not be on sale for the production of spot repairs.

To create an aesthetic surface both outside and inside the building, the technique of laying decorative tiles under a brick is widely used. This type of cladding can be made from different materials... The simplest and most affordable is gypsum. Let's take a closer look at how to do it yourself.

Brick-like gypsum tiles are often used for interior decoration

Types of materials

In the modern construction market, you can find a wide variety of decorative finishing materials. Elements imitating brick or stone are in great demand. They can be made from different materials, the most popular products are:

  • Clinker... A very strong and wear-resistant material, it can be of completely different colors, it is used for any type of surfaces, both outside and inside buildings.
  • Gypsum... Quite fragile but light material, used mainly for internal works... Initially white, can be colored as in liquid state, and after the manufacture or installation of the element.
  • Polyurethane... A very light and widely used material for interior work, mostly white in color, but may contain pigments.
  • Styrofoam... Lightweight and fragile material, used for interior decoration. White.

For interior decoration work the best option will be laying brick tiles made of plaster. It costs less than clinker, while it is much stronger than polymer analogues and looks more natural.

Varieties of finishing materials for indoor and outdoor use

Decorative plaster tiles can be made by hand. To do this, you need to mix water, gypsum powder and a plasticizer in the form of PVA glue. Pour the mixture into the prepared mold and wait until it dries. You can add pigment to color the mass or paint on the bottom of the mold before pouring.

Glue used

To lay gypsum tiles with your own hands, you need to choose the right glue. So, let's consider what you can glue gypsum tiles on. Several options are possible here:

  • Conventional Cement Tile Adhesive... It is used for laying tiles. This is the standard option for installing almost any type of cladding.
  • Gypsum plaster... More preferable option for interior decoration. The mixture has a white tint, so it is almost invisible under the tiles.
  • Silicone sealant... Quite an unusual, but very effective solution. Provides strong adhesion to the surface.

Adhesive options for laying gypsum tiles

When using cladding outside the building, it is important to choose a frost-resistant adhesive mixture, otherwise, after a few cycles, the solution will begin to crumble and crumble along with the tiles.

The adhesive for decorative gypsum tiles must be fresh. If the bag with the mixture has been open for several months, it will most likely harden quickly or clump together. This will significantly complicate the work with the mixture and, moreover, deteriorate the quality of adhesion of materials.

Surface preparation

Before you start laying decorative tiles with your own hands, regardless of its type, it is important to prepare the surface intended for cladding. The requirements for this stage of work are standard. First of all, it is important to remove the old coating, if any. Old glue and mortar must be thoroughly washed off.

After that, you need to plaster the walls to get rid of all the irregularities on the surface. It is important to remove all beads and pits, as glue is unlikely to cover them. With significant differences, drywall is used, it can be fixed on metal frame or stick directly to the wall.

All dust and dirt must be removed. In order for the tile to hold better, and the glue to adhere well to the surface, you need to prime it working area... Plaster tiles should be laid only after the mixture has completely dried.

Styling process

Laying gypsum tiles, made under a brick, begins with diluting the solution and choosing a layout for the elements. The principle of staggered installation is often used. Pay attention to the reverse side of the plaster, if its surface is embossed, the glue can be applied with a straight trowel, and if it is even, only with a notched trowel.

How to properly glue decorative tiles with your own hands:

  1. Apply a thin layer of glue to the wall. It should be enough for stacking 4-5 elements.
  2. Apply some mortar to the back of the tile as well.
  3. Press the plaster against the wall and correct its position. Use plastic spacers to align the seams.
  4. Each row should be laid with an offset of half an element.
  5. The solution entering the seams must be immediately removed with a rubber spatula and its remains should be washed off with a brush dipped in clean water.

You do not need to dilute a lot of solution, if you overexpose it, it will begin to set and it will become impossible to work with it.

With proper glue application, the tile will hold up well for years.

Decorative processing

The last stage is decorative processing. First of all, you should clean off the glue if it comes out over the tiles. It is imperative to seal the seams between the plaster elements. You can do it yourself in two ways:

  • Glue solution... Allows you to create an imitation of real brickwork. To do this, you need to glue the gypsum with masking tape along the joints and use a spatula to fill the joints with mortar. After it dries, you can remove the protective strips.
  • Grout... This is the preferred option. To work with plaster, you need a pastry-style pouch or a construction syringe. Fill it with diluted mastic and carefully work through all the seams. They need to be filled with a mass of about half.

Grouting after laying tiles - the final stage of work

Additionally, you can paint the gypsum tiles. This is done if white elements were used, and you want to increase their similarity to brick or stone. It is best to use a spray gun for this purpose.

To protect the tile from moisture and dirt, it must be treated with a special solution. It will create a water-repellent film and enhance the color intensity of the coating. It must be sprayed evenly over the tiled surface after the grout and paint have completely dried. After that, you can safely wipe the gypsum with a damp cloth and wash it in case of heavy contamination. Such processing is easy to do with your own hands and is a prerequisite when using gypsum tiles on the street, for example, to decorate a veranda or balcony.

Now you know how to decorate the walls with decorative tiles with your own hands. In addition to gypsum, other materials can be used, the technology for working with them is not much different from the one presented.

If an idea comes up, then there are many factors to take into account:

  1. You should think over the design of gypsum tiles for a brick - will it be a stone, or maybe an old royal brick?
  2. What will it be: with or without a seam?
  3. What surface should be used for laying with decorative tiles?
  4. What materials and tools will be involved?
  5. What glue to use for laying gypsum tiles?

Gypsum tiles in the interior

For gluing or tiles under a brick, manufacturers produce adhesives, which include gypsum. The entire group of these solutions is called "gypsum mounting glue". This tile adhesive is produced in dry form. Alabaster is included in the composition. This glue can be used on concrete surfaces, brick wall, plastered surfaces, plasterboard products.

With these mixtures, not only gypsum tiles are glued, but also cracks are closed, tile seams are embroidered. And you can also cover up chips on a brick wall, in plaster, on a stone surface.

Mounting gypsum adhesive

The glue mixture may contain silica sand. Since this additive impairs adhesion to the surface, there should be a minimum amount of sand in the composition. The elasticity and properties of the adhesive depend on the addition of water to create the mortar. The more water is required for mixing, the worse the quality of the adhesive solution. The amount of water can be found in the instructions for use. The norm is 1 kg of dry glue per 300 ml of water. The curing time of the adhesive mixture in the container will take from 30 to 60 minutes.

Preparation and use of gypsum glue

To prepare gypsum glue, you should carefully read the instructions on the package. Initially, a certain amount of water is poured into the container, a dry mixture is poured into it in a thin stream and gradually mixed. This way, clumps can be avoided.

Gypsum assembly glue After mixing, the glue should stand for a while to dissolve constituent elements glue. The dissolution time is indicated on the package. The surface to which the adhesive will be applied must be clean and primed. must be sanded down.

The glue is applied to the substrate with a notched trowel in a thin layer, as well as with an ordinary trowel on gypsum tiles. After gluing the tiles, the excess adhesive is immediately removed. The thickness of the adhesive between the tile and the base should be 15 mm, no more.

To prevent glue from remaining or drying on the instrument, it should be rinsed in water.

Glue application process on gypsum tiles Basically, the glue completely cures after 24 hours. Drying time of the glue depends on the room temperature, as well as on the air humidity.

Water-based and non-water based glue

Gypsum tile adhesive should be chosen carefully. When choosing this material, you should look at the manufacturer (this indicates the quality of the glue), the composition of the glue, on what basis and how is it diluted?
Glue happens:

  1. Diluted with water or stir the solution with water on your own.
  2. Lack of water - "liquid nails", mastic.

Glue on the water

PVA is a common, well-known glue, using it in installation, you need to add gypsum and water.
Water-based adhesive-solution intended for decorative finishing tiles, which have positive adhesion, elastic, does not have impurities that are poisonous to humans.

PVA construction glue It is produced in a ready-to-use form. Designed for all surfaces.

Reactive glue composition

This glue is used for gluing various building materials... The glue contains a catalyst. The glue hardens, so you need to work with it quickly. It is elastic, which is convenient when working with it, and has good adhesion to the surface. Popular brands of reactive glue:

At the right choice glue, gypsum tiles will stick to the surface, retaining their original appearance for many years.

Sooner or later, each of us faces the need for repairs. And everyone faces a choice: to invite specialists or to glue on their own. Anyone who opted for the second option will find it useful to know how to choose an adhesive for gypsum tiles, prepare the surface, and install.

The choice of adhesive for gypsum tiles

Gypsum decorative tiles used because of its hygroscopicity indoors. Taking this into account, it is important to correctly determine the choice of gluing agent and the procedure for carrying out the work and choose the appropriate glue. Perhaps the wall and tiles will first have to be primed with some kind of acrylic impregnation. Moisture resistant, high strength materials are well processed using standard formulations. In other cases, a mixture of gypsum with PVA, polyurethane foam, dry or liquid polymer mixtures, various putties are suitable.

To ensure strength, when choosing which glue to buy, take into account several factors at once:

  • type of work (internal or external);
  • type of wall (porous or smooth);
  • the composition from which the tile is made;
  • type of masonry.

Technical characteristics of popular adhesives

In the retail network, there are mixtures on gypsum or cement, which will need to be diluted before work, in liquid form and reactive (suitable for use when mixing two components).

The dry mix is applied on surfaces with cement or plaster screed and plaster, with brickwork, foam concrete, aerated concrete and others mineral bases... Liquid (dispersion) products are more convenient to glue, but they are less economical. Reactive - indispensable for performing work on a tight schedule.

Dry adhesive mixtures

A gypsum-based dry mix is more preferable than one that contains cement, because the porous surface of the tile absorbs moisture well, which is necessary for the cement to harden. Because of this, the setting time of such a product is increased. When working with such a mixture, pour water at room temperature into a container, add a dry composition and stir thoroughly with a mixer. The resulting mass hardens quickly, so you need to glue it immediately. If it is necessary to glue it on a warm floor, then the latex additive LATEXKOL should be mixed into the mixture. Pay attention to these environmentally friendly adhesives:

  • PLUSFIX is a powdery mixture based on gray cement and quartz sand with an admixture of cellulose. Used to glue small tiles (no more than 25x25 cm). Works can be carried out on concrete, cement and brick surfaces;
  • LITOKOL K 17 is similar in characteristics to PLUSFIX;
  • LITOKOL X11 is composed of Portland cement and quartz sand in granular form. It is convenient to glue large format gypsum tiles;
  • PERLFIX - made of plaster with polymer additives. Differs in high environmental friendliness and efficiency (consumption per 1);
  • Satyn PKG-28 is a mixture of gypsum, mineral aggregates and high quality additives that give the composition good plasticity during operation. When mixing, 1 kg of dry mass is consumed? l of water. Temperature range: +5 to + 30 ° С. After cooking, you need to work out in 40 - 50 minutes;
  • Dry composition on a gypsum base "Gipsolit". Set quickly. Residues are easily removed from the surface with a sponge soaked in water;
  • Glue "Monte Alba". Designed for indoor use only. Ideal for plaster cladding.

Reactive glue

Reactive agents are the most convenient to use. Well proven due to their versatility (suitable for any type of tile and surface on which it is laid). They are often used for working with plaster material. Consist of two components: adhesive base and a hardener (catalyst). They should be handled quickly, using the mixture completely before it hardens. They are distinguished by good elasticity, which makes it possible to use even for cladding often vibrating or deformable substrates.

The most popular are:

  • "Litoelastic" is an epoxy-polyurethane-based composition. The components of which it consists, when mixed, enter into a reaction. Suitable for gluing on any wall: concrete, plaster, cement, metal, plywood, wood and others. After hardening, it does not shrink, cracks, therefore it is convenient for both horizontal and vertical surfaces. Differs in good resistance to temperature changes, adheres well to the glued surfaces. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use;
  • Litokol Epoxystuk is a high quality universal product. Reliable in rooms with aggressive chemical compositions... Heat and moisture resistant;
  • LITOCHROM STARLIKE is designed for indoor and outdoor use. Resistant to mold, abrasion, sudden temperature changes in the range from - 20 ° C to + 100 ° C, chemical compounds, ultraviolet radiation;
  • Epoxy Eco is a high quality Italian product. Applied at a temperature of 10 - 35 ° C. It is applied to dry, pre-primed surfaces. Contact with polystyrene, plastics, metal, wood is undesirable;
  • KERAPOXY MAPEI. Two-component, acid-resistant reactive agent for laying all types of tiles and grouting tile joints. It has a very low water absorption, so it can be easily washed off with water before hardening. For good adhesion, it requires preliminary cleaning of the surface from dust, lubricants, cement, moisture.

Work order

The appearance and durability of the laid tiles depends not only on the quality of the materials. The process of work is also important. The variety of forms of decorative styling affects the technology of finishing work. But general rules are the same.

https://youtu.be/aWyx6CM4Fis

We prepare working equipment: a construction tape, a level, a hand saw, a pencil, a ruler 1 m long, a brush, a sponge, a string, a flexible spatula or a brush for mortar, sandpaper for processing the edges of cut pieces.

  • make markup;
    • using a ruler, divide the surface into horizontal sections 30-50 cm high;
    • prepare tiles for laying in such an area. If necessary, use a fine-toothed hacksaw to cut along the marked line (gypsum is a brittle material, so avoid pressure).

Preparing gypsum tiles for laying

  • prime twice with acrylic primer. Dry for 4 hours;
  • clean the surface on which you will lay the tiles;
    • remove loose plaster;
    • smooth out irregularities;
    • wash off the old whitewash.
  • make sure the surface is dry before applying the mortar. It is better to start cladding with corner pieces... This will correct for height differences in the stacking elements.
  • start gluing on the wall from the top corner. Subject to the instructions for use of the mixture, there should be no slippage and sagging. Laying can be with seams (8 - 10 mm) and seamless;
  • Apply glue to the back of the tile in a thin layer using a spatula;

Applying adhesive to tiles

  • before reaching 1 - 2 rows to a door or window opening, stop. First, frame the openings with whole pieces, and then fill in the empty spaces;

The process of laying gypsum tiles under a brick

  • carefully collect the solution that was squeezed out during installation (preferably with a sponge or a wooden spatula) to be used for sealing joints;
  • remove excess adhesive with a soft sponge dipped in water;
  • smooth out the seams with a brush or foam rubber.

After the end of work, tools, gloves, hands and clothes are thoroughly cleaned with water from the remains of the solution.
