DIY fireplace made of cardboard. DIY Christmas fireplace from boxes

Conifers in garden design

What is this New Year without a spark? Candles on the table, garlands on the Christmas tree are good, but the festive atmosphere will overwhelm the house if there is a fireplace in the banquet hall. A real fireplace is a complicated thing, but to build it in an ordinary apartment building there is simply no technical capability. However, in order to put yourself a fireplace for the New Year, there is no need to start construction works and in private households.

Old packing boxes or sheet packing cardboard will help out. You can make a fireplace out of boxes with your own hands, in general, following two methods: a one-time haste, nervously glancing at the clock hands and sniffing to see if something is burning in the kitchen, or not rushing a day or two in advance. In the latter case, it is quite possible to get a false fireplace (see the figure on the right), which is in no way inferior to drywall and the same durable, but many times simpler and cheaper. How? Now we'll see.

Under the chimes

The simplest New Year's fireplace from the boxes can also be festively elegant. And no less durable. The difference between it and more complicated, which will have to spend a couple of evenings, is essentially aesthetic. The simplest fireplace will look in an atmosphere of fun, when everyone is "on edge" in the morning, and then warms up even more. A fireplace, which is done in detail, will retain its appearance in an ordinary setting. Although both are relative, tk. the durability of both fireplaces is the same. Here the author's imagination and finishing methods are more important, see eg. video:

Video: an example of making a New Year's fireplace from boxes

A master class on making a festive fireplace of their boxes fits as much as 4 pictures, see fig. below. The paper wrapping stage is omitted if the boxes that make up the base are glued together, as described below, and the fireplace will be glued with self-adhesive (see below), or painted to look like old brick or wild stone with imitation of masonry seams (also see below).

How to glue boxes

Fig. above, there seems to be nothing to add - it's so simple, to make a fireplace out of the boxes for the New Year. And after a glass or two, guests will be delighted with it. But, so that the creation of your own hands the next morning does not want to be removed faster than the Christmas tree, and, perhaps, you want to leave it as a permanent decoration of the room, you need to know some little tricks. They will not complicate the work and will not tighten.

The first of them is to glue the boxes hastily, not with household tape, but with paint (on the left in the figure), it is sold in hardware stores. The adhesive layer of masking tape is about the same, but the base is paper. Any paint or self-adhesive coating perfectly fits on masking tape. Also, masking tape is very thin: it will not show through under a layer of paint (unless the fireplace is made under a real fire, see below), the painted surface will be even. In addition, masking tape is cheaper than household and even more technical.

However, until the next New Year, a decorative fireplace glued with masking tape is unlikely to be worth it - the paper base will become limp from atmospheric moisture. Also, a fireplace made of boxes glued with a clerical glue pencil will turn out to be disposable - the seams will dry out. If there are three large boxes that allow you to assemble the base of the fireplace according to the power circuit in the center in fig. (the transverse volumetric beam rests on the columns), then it is better to glue them together with household PVA; this glue, unlike technical and construction PVA, dries in 5-10 minutes. Hot glue from a glue gun dries instantly, but it is much more expensive. A fireplace glued with PVA or hot glue according to the scheme in the center in Fig. will withstand if a guest of average build sits down on it instead of a basin with dumplings. And the base of a decorative fireplace from many small boxes (on the right in the figure), glued with the same adhesives, will simply last more than one year and will take on a finish that allows you to leave the fireplace permanent element interior.

Self-adhesive for fireplace

One of better ways finishing of a New Year's fireplace from boxes - gluing with self-adhesive finishing materials; simply self-adhesive. But it is suitable for this purpose, let it be known to the reader, 3 types are on sale:

  • Self-adhesive wallpaper - thick, expensive, sticks tightly to any surface. They are produced with a glossy, matte and sculpted surface, textured like wood, stone, etc. The elasticity of self-adhesive wallpaper allows them to circle corners and curved surfaces with a sufficiently large radius of curvature (from approx. 300 mm), but they will not cover small bends and folds.
  • Furniture self-adhesive film on a plastic base - sticks well to wood and wood-based materials, incl. to the cardboard. Cheaper than self-adhesive wallpaper, thin, with ironing with a dry rag tampon fits low small folds. Under the stone, wood, etc. invoiced but not sculptured. Matte still gleams not very much like sanded simulated materials.
  • The same, on a paper basis - the cheapest. It does not stretch at all, therefore it is suitable only for wrapping objects of a simple shape, the surfaces of which consist of planes. Plus - matte acc. the texture is very similar to sanded wood or polished stone. Accepts varnishing with nitro or acrylic varnish.

A fireplace from boxes is glued with self-adhesive in general in the same way as furniture, but with some peculiarities arising from the shape of the product and its material - cardboard. Step-by-step instruction for decorating a New Year's fireplace made of cardboard with self-adhesive films is as follows (see fig.):

Step 1

We put the workpiece flat with the front (face) up; in fig. for clarity, the process is shown as if you look at the lying fireplace from its bottom side. We put pieces of self-adhesive "on dry" without removing the protective film. We adjust the patterns / textures of the pieces and cut them to size with scissors with an allowance of 30-40 mm for turns for adjacent corners. On the wall wings (see below) we give at least 15 cm.

Step 2

We remove the piece from the upper bridge of the portal. Pieces on the sidewalls (columns) no closer than 12-20 cm to the inner edges are pressed with weights. The best option- put a long ruler and put on it the same iron that Toropyzhka swallowed from Dunno and His Friends. Well, who does not remember: "The hurry was hungry, he swallowed a cold iron." Now we raise the inner edge of the piece to any of the sidewalls and peel off the protective film along it 10-12 cm deep.

Step 3

Holding the detached edge of the protective film at both corners at once, we turn it inward and backward, and gently pull it. The self-adhesive itself will lie on the surface to be pasted. If you have never done this kind of work before, it is better to practice on a couple of small scraps, because Do not touch the adhesive layer of the self-adhesive with your fingers.

Note: if the starting edge of self-adhesive wallpaper or plastic furniture self-adhesive did not immediately lay on the base all at once, it can be smoothed from the middle to the corners without strong pressure with a rag swab. Self-adhesive paper must be glued so that the starting edge immediately lies down as needed.

Step 4

When at least 10 cm of self-adhesive lies on the surface to be pasted, remove the load; it still remains on the other sidewall! Carefully pull out the protective film from under the self-adhesive, with a fold, until the coating lies on the front (in the figure, the top one, since the workpiece is lying flat) and the side of the column. Do not remove the protective film from the wall wing! We only cut off its excess!

Step 5

In a similar way, we glue the other sidewall; then - front lintel and shelf. Before pasting the shelf, cut the corners of the sidewall cover allowances at 45 degrees and press them (without touching the adhesive layer!) To the shelf base.

Note: all the work according to steps 1-5 needs to be done in less than 20 minutes, because this is how much the self-adhesive adhesive layer retains its properties in contact with air.

Step 6

What about the wings? It all depends on whether the fireplace will be a permanent piece of furniture or not. If so, then you need to paste over it with self-adhesive wallpaper. Then, having installed the fireplace in place (perhaps after finishing the shelf, hearth and firebox, see below), the protective film is pulled out from under the wings, which will stick to the wall. This will greatly enhance the visual "authenticity" of the fireplace, see the sidebar on the right in fig.

If the fireplace is temporary, then the protective film is not pulled out from under the wings, only its tails are cut exactly to the size: having visited the wall or, say, the door quarter, the adhesive layer of self-adhesive will leave indelible marks on them. For the same reason, it is not necessary to fasten the fenders of the fireplace trim with double-sided tape. It is necessary to use the way that in the old days of general scarcity the craftsmen-shabashniks fastened to concrete walls wooden skirting boards, moldings and telephone wiring - "noodles":

  1. We buy 3-4 dozen steel straight (not English!) Pins with a bent eyelet (not with a bead!) Thinner. Old-time shabashki especially appreciated pins-"hairs" with a thickness of 0.2-0.3 mm;
  2. We begin to attach the wing from the far upper corner, holding it so that the wing does not slip. If you work alone, the self-adhesive can be pressed against the wall with the butt of a fist (where the little finger is);
  3. The pin is taken with tweezers, put with a point on the film. At the same time, if one is working, with the butt of a fist, the wing angle is pulled up - to the side, so that the wing lies flat on the wall;
  4. With small, frequent and very weak blows of a hammer, no heavier than 50 g, a pin is driven through the film into the wall, as long as it fits;
  5. Remove the tweezers;
  6. Holding the film at the pin itself with fingers on both sides, take it by the ear with pliers and break it with a sharp tilt. The pin will bend slightly before it breaks. The bend will hold the film;
  7. Fasten the wing in the same way from the corner downward in increments of 5-10 cm, and then from the corner to the side of the fireplace;
  8. The other wing is attached in the same way;
  9. When the time comes to clean up the fireplace, the wings of its sheathing are simply ripped from the debris of pins. You need to pull smoothly, then all the debris will remain in the wall. They are carefully pulled out with pliers. If there is wallpaper on the wall, then that's all - no traces will be seen. If the wall is plastered, small holes from the pins are rubbed with a piece of leather or foam rubber.

What to do with bubbles?

It is difficult for a novice master to lay self-adhesive without bubbles. How to be here? On a cardboard fireplace, the first 5-10 minutes - nothing. The self-adhesive self-adhesive will squeeze the air out of the bubbles through the cardboard and they will fall off. And those that remain after 10 minutes of exposure are pierced sewing needle... In 10-20 minutes they will subside too. Suddenly some will remain (which is very unlikely), after being pierced, it is ironed with a credit card or something similar.

Fireplace from one box

If you have only one box, but large enough in plan and not very thick, for example, from under the TV, then you can already make a fireplace out of it alone for the New Year. Its diagram and approximate dimensions are shown in Fig. below. To form the inner space of the firebox, the cardboard wings incised on the face are folded inward. To imitate the arched vault, several cuts are made and the resulting petals are bent inward. Then the firebox is pasted over from the inside with self-adhesive wallpaper under a brick or thick paper and painted. Also, from just one box from the TV, you can make a corner cardboard fireplace (on the right in the figure).

Stone finish

There is enough self-adhesive under the stone on sale, but it is possible to decorate a cardboard fireplace under it even cheaper. And if the New Year's fireplace from the boxes is with a real spark (see below), then the method described below is the only possible one.

First of all, the seams between the boxes are rubbed with toothpaste. Then the fireplace is painted under the selected stone with watercolors or gouache. Highly good result gives painting with red paint on boxes not pasted over with paper and somehow not bleached - it turns out very similar to old brick, tk. colorful watercolor and gouache matt surface.

For "complete naturalness", it remains to imitate the masonry seams. To do this, they are first cut on the cardboard (on the left in the figure), cutting only its top layer. The cuts can be broken or curved if masonry is imitated with wild stone. It doesn't matter if they go along or across the inner corrugation of the cardboard.

Then the cuts are evenly pressed through with a broach with some hard round stick - from chupa-chups, the end of a knitting needle, etc. After that, any black pigment (ground black watercolor, soot, crushed lead from a simple pencil, etc.) is added to ordinary PVA with stirring until a tone of solidified cement is obtained. The mixture is drawn into a medical syringe without a needle, and driving it with a cannula (nozzle) with an inclination along the squeezed grooves, smoothly press on the piston. Even if the hand trembles, the sausage of the mixture will still fit exactly in the incision. Simulated seams will dry in a day.

Light bulbs and firewood

A fireplace with a dark cold mouth of the firebox only takes up space in vain. On New Year's Eve - even more so. You can make it look natural without risking making a real fire (see below) by painting the inside of the firebox with pink-crimson or light crimson watercolors or gouache - they will give a soft play of light without unnatural glare.

The next step is to lay a non-shimmering red (mostly) yellow fabric instead of a hearth. Then a blinking garland of red and yellow bulbs is placed in the firebox. It is best if the festoon regulator provides a slow blinking of the bulbs with a smooth change in their brightness. Then the imitation of the reflections of the fire in the firebox will turn out to be very natural, on the left in Fig.

Now let's try to simulate smoldering wood to cover up the light bulbs. There is no point in sticking real branches or their imitation (in the center) into the firebox: what is it, an unburned bush? The twigs thrown into the firebox also do not solve matters, even if real candles are burning there, on the right.

The best way to imitate firewood in a fireplace is to wind newspaper tubes; by the way, they are suitable for many other crafts. The tubes are painted in a gray-brown-crimson color (literally, with stains), bent, broken and glued together in an artistic mess, so that it looks like a bunch of brushwood, width along the throat of the firebox. And even better - that it looked like it only from the outside, and behind there was a cavity with rather thin walls. The garland fits into it. Shining through a newspaper painted in tones of dying wood, it will give such a play of reflections that an uninformed guest would really think that the coals are smoldering there.

Like real

What is the structural difference between a decorative cardboard fireplace designed for permanent decoration of a room from a temporary festive one? What allows you to contemplate it with pleasure, being in a bad mood on an ordinary gray day? The answer is simple - shelf and under. It is these details that give the fireplace a permanent aesthetic value.

You can also make a shelf under the fireplace from boxes made of cardboard, but, alas, they will not be enough for a long time - from changes in temperature and humidity, thin parts glued from cardboard will soon warp. The way out is to glue the PVA shelf and under the fireplace in the form of 3-layer pies made of cardboard covers with foam plates between them.

How to make a festive fireplace out of cardboard and foam is shown in Fig.:

decorative false fireplace made of cardboard and foam

Wrapping cardboard from boxes will do for him, but only PVA needs to be glued - this glue will ensure the stability of the shape and evenness of the surfaces of the cardboard-foam cake, it is not for nothing that second-hand booksellers use it without fear for the restoration of old books instead of the bone one. For the same purpose, hollow columns are impregnated inside and outside with a water-polymer emulsion or whey diluted to the consistency of the same PVA before finishing.

Note: the design and approximate dimensions of a decorative fireplace made of cardboard and foam are given on the next figure:

With a real spark

And now let's see how to make a fireplace out of boxes with tongues of real flame dancing in the firebox. This does not in any way cancel the imitation of burning wood and reflections of fire in the firebox, on the contrary, only all of it together and will give the complete illusion of a real burning fireplace.

The way to supplement the above-described imitation of reflections of flame and unburned wood with natural tongues of fire is known - these are candles in non-combustible bowls, see fig.:

It is, of course, impossible to load real fuel into a cardboard fireplace and ignite it, especially since there is no chimney either. But also with Certain precautions should be taken with candles: organizational (may the readers forgive us the inevitable formalism for the New Year) and technical.

Security measures

In fact, using an open fire in a living room is a serious violation of fire safety rules. Moreover, here next to and festive table, and on it - strong alcohol, which burns very well, and a tree with paper decorations. But what can you do, the New Year without a spark is not the same New Year. Firefighters are carefully preparing for it on their part; we will be ready too.

Organizational

The main means not to turn the New Year with a fire in the fireplace into a nightmare and disaster is you, dear owners. Make yourself a New Year's fireplace out of boxes with real fire only if you celebrate it culturally, without a merchant's binge, and without losing your head. And if you have a New Year's norm, that someone, having not reached the time zones to the Urals, is already sleeping with a mustache in a salad, someone washes off cosmetics with champagne, and someone is trying and trying to get out of a basin with dumplings - do not. It is also not necessary if preschool children celebrate the New Year with you.

Technical

The above-mentioned painting of a fireplace with watercolors or gouache is valuable not only in decorative terms - it creates a non-combustible layer on the cardboard, because the pigments of these paints are mineral. But this is not enough. It is also necessary to make sure that the cardboard, if the flame of a candle touches it, does not itself burn for at least 10 minutes, and, preferably, extinguishes a dangerous candle.

The way to do wood materials refractory for some time is also well known and widely used in wood construction. This is impregnation with flame retardants. Manufacturers of wood building materials use borax: when heated, it releases a large number of vapors of crystallization water, non-toxic and inexpensive. We need to impregnate the cardboard in a higher concentration so that, if a flame suddenly touches the impregnated surface, a cloud of water vapor immediately knocks it down. To do this, make the borax solution stronger, approx. a glass on a saucepan.

Dilute borax in glass (better) or enameled dishes v hot water... After using the solution, poured into the dishes pure water, boil it, pour boiling water, and wash the dishes twice cold water(glass glass can be washed once after boiling).

The blank boxes are impregnated with a borax solution from the inside and outside, until they are glued into the fireplace blank. Impregnation is carried out with a cooled solution. To prevent the workpieces from warping, they are impregnated with a moderately moistened solution with a brush several times with pauses of 5-10 minutes. Impregnation on one side is considered complete if the other is slightly moistened to the touch. Then the workpiece is allowed to dry and the other side is soaked in the same number of passes. After that, the workpiece is dried for 24 hours.

Note 4: newspaper tubes to simulate brushwood in the fireplace are soaked in a solution of borax for 3-5 minutes, then dried, dyed, shaped and glued. If a durable decorative fireplace is made impregnated with a water-polymer emulsion (see above), then its blanks are first impregnated with brown.

Finally

As you can see, the fireplace from the boxes for the New Year was not so simple. However, the game is worth the candle. Another example of what kind of festive fireplace from the boxes you can make with your own hands, see the video tutorial:

A room with a fireplace always looks more comfortable, atmospheric and beautiful. But such a decision is not always feasible, for example, in terms of financial capabilities or if you are the owner of an apartment, not a house. In this case, a false fireplace can be an alternative option. In our material, we will consider step-by-step instructions for making a fireplace from boxes with our own hands, and a series of photos of such structures. You will see that building a fireplace yourself is inexpensive, very simple, and most importantly - fun and exciting!

False fireplace made of cardboard.

Features and types

Does not perform any functional load, however, it is very effective decorative element in the interior. Self-made artificial fireplaces from cardboard boxes are an ideal solution if you need to decorate an apartment for the holidays or just bring new notes to the interior of your bedroom / or nursery. The manufacture of such a structure is very budgetary, because often the main building material - boxes - is already available in the mezzanine or in the closet in most dwellings.

Obviously, such constructions are safe, because real fire is not used in them. This means that you do not need to worry about compliance with the norms.

Decorative fireplaces can have the most different design, during the manufacture, you can choose any shape, size, decor. Therefore, it will be possible to choose a model for any interior. Accordingly, a false fireplace can look like obviously artificial (for example, to decorate the living room before Christmas), there it is more solid and truly, as in the photo:

Realistic imitation of a fireplace.

And here is an example of a New Year's fireplace made of boxes, which will surely delight the kids:

New Year's false fireplace.

In the example below, we see how well the false fireplace from the boxes fit into the interior of the living room in the Provence style. This design looks elegant, graceful and tasteful, and appearance it is completely impossible to understand that ordinary cardboard boxes were used for the manufacture.

Provence style fireplace.

Since it is unacceptable to use real firewood in such structures, you can resort to the following alternative solutions:

It is also worth thinking about the type of fireplace and its location. Possible options:

  • Classical. This is the most familiar and easy-to-implement type of false fireplace - the structure is installed against the wall in the form of a protruding facade.
  • ... Allows you to take the corner, which is most often in vain empty.
  • Built in. If there is a niche in the wall of a suitable size, you can equip a built-in fireplace from the boxes.
  • Ostrovnoy. Located in the center of the room. It is not difficult to make it out of boxes, but due to the specific location, few choose such a fireplace option.

Required materials and preparation

Obviously, the main material is cardboard boxes of different sizes - both from the overall household appliances, and small boxes, for example, from shoes and gadgets. If there are not enough boxes at home, you can buy them at a construction supermarket or ask sellers at the vegetable market, in a store - in this case, you can even get them for free.

It is desirable that the cardboard is dense and durable - structures made of such material will hold their shape well and, accordingly, will last longer.

Carton boxes.

Also, during the manufacture, the following materials may be needed (depending on the design of the product):

  • masking tape (regular or double-sided);
  • dye;
  • A4 sheets;
  • paper glue;
  • wallpaper and suitable glue;
  • decorative plaster;
  • Styrofoam;
  • hot glue;
  • plaster molding for decoration.

You may also need corners, baguettes and moldings, pieces of chipboard or plywood.

You will probably find the necessary tools in your home: a pencil and a ruler (tape measure), scissors, a stationery knife, brushes.

Under preparatory stage we mean drawing up a drawing of the future fireplace. Based on where you plan to put it and how much free space there is, it is worth considering the dimensions of the structure. As an example, we give the following drawing of a false structure:

Making the base

Consider two options for making a base - from several medium-sized boxes, as well as from a large box.

From several boxes

So, if you have several boxes of different sizes, the main thing is to arrange them correctly. It is necessary to form several main parts of the fireplace - side columns, top shelf, furnace and possibly the lower shelf, if provided by the sketch.

How to make a false fireplace from boxes with your own hands step by step:

Fireplace from several boxes.

Out of one box

If there is a box from a flat TV with a large diagonal available, then the following master class should be used for manufacturing:

In both cases, we looked at fireplaces with standard rectangular fireplaces. If you want to make a round cut, then you will have to use only a large box - it will be difficult to assemble a structure from small ones.

It is necessary to prepare and transfer a sketch to the box, cut out the rounded part of the firebox, and bend the bottom towards the back wall of the box. Next, make the side walls of the hole from the cardboard cut and fix it with masking tape. The rest of the manufacturing principle is similar to that described above.

Fireplace with a rounded portal.

Fireplace decoration

Next comes the most exciting stage of making a fireplace -! The choice of finishes directly depends on what style you want a fireplace, for what purposes, for what interior. Consider the most common finishing options: "brick-like" and classic style.

To decorate the rear wall of the firebox, cut out rectangles from cardboard or paper to the size of a brick 25 * 12 cm, tint in a terracotta or red-brown shade and glue in a checkerboard pattern to the white background of the cardboard.

Rear wall of the furnace.

You can choose from several methods for finishing the facade:

Step-by-step instructions and a photo of how to decorate a fireplace from the boxes with your own hands in a classic style:

  1. The fireplace must be prepared - smooth out all flaws, irregularities with putty, rub the joints. Also paint the product.
  2. Using a sponge and light gray paint, apply a brick print to the furnace part of the structure.
  3. Next, use moldings of different widths to finish the facade. It is better to attach them to liquid nails or hot glue.

Fireplace in classic style - trim molding, paint.

Using the step-by-step instructions and photo selection described above, you can make a unique New Year's fireplace from the boxes with your own hands. Invite your child to join you - he will surely be delighted with the process of creating such a product!

Video: New Year's fireplace made of cardboard.

Every person dreams of being warm and comfortable in his home. It's not in vain that we say "home", but we mean "home". We suggest you make your own hearth - a fireplace from the boxes with your own hands. Most of us have no way of doing real fireplace in the apartment. And everyone can make such a fireplace made of cardboard with their own hands. And do not listen to anyone who says that this is not a real fireplace, for you and your family it is the best! You can make such a fireplace in one evening with your own hands, or you can involve children in the work, let them take part. Be sure they will love it.

Much depends on which box or boxes you will make a fake fireplace out of cardboard. If you take just such a box from under the TV, then you can make this option:

All the work consists in measuring the length with your own hands, drawing the necessary lines, bending the cardboard inward and gluing it. Then turn it over, paint the inside with dark paint, attach several glued sheets of cardboard or any other board on top with double tape, you can use the remnants of the laminate, and so on.

If you add another box, then you can use the following technology for making a false fireplace:

Another option for a fireplace made of cardboard. The box is also from under the TV, the recess of the false fireplace is cut in a different way.

We decorate with cardboard "bricks". Above and below are pieces of styrofoam. This is a very simple but quick option.

Now let's move on to a more detailed master class.

Option number 1 (master class)

Such a wonderful cozy fireplace can be made with your own hands from simple material... Due to the light weight of the cardboard, decoration functions can be performed by both male and female hands.

A properly made and competently decorated false fireplace will become a beautiful and unusual decoration of your home.

And if you still spend money on ceiling plinth made of foam (it costs about 50 rubles), in the same hardware store, both sockets and foam figures are sold. All this is also very cheap. Or maybe you decided to make just a strict, classic false fireplace? It all depends on your desires and imaginations. Hope our detailed master class will make your job easier.

For work you will need:

  1. Cardboard boxes (4 pieces larger and pieces 5-6 smaller).
  2. White paper or 1 roll of any wallpaper.
  3. Stationery glue or PVA.
  4. Scotch tape is simple and double-sided.
  5. Colored cardboard for "bricks" or a roll of wallpaper with a brick pattern.

Boxes must be chosen from thick cardboard to keep their shape well. To make a fireplace out of cardboard, first you need to figure out how we will connect the boxes to get the desired shape of the product.

We decided on the shape, now we can fix individual boxes with tape so as to make large parts of our fireplace. We fasten with simple tape 4 pcs. large and 5 pcs. small boxes.

Then we glue all our blanks with white paper or wallpaper roll. We do all this with simple tape, cutting the paper in the corners.

That is, all blanks must be pasted over with paper.

We sculpt the upper large part on double-sided tape. We press the upper part to the lower workpiece.

In the meantime, you can instruct your child to cut out "bricks" from colored cardboard to decorate our fireplace.

Thus, we glue the entire surface, except for the back. This is how you can quickly and easily make a false fireplace.

Option number 2

The second master class is a little more complicated, since here we will make a fireplace not just out of boxes, but out of a large box. We will draw and cut so that everything is symmetrical.

It will be great if for work you find a box from under a flat-screen TV with a large diagonal. If you don't find such a box, you can take pieces of cardboard, you just have to glue them together.

For work you will need:

  1. Box or pieces of cardboard.
  2. White paint (preferably in a spray can).
  3. Styrofoam skirting board and decoration.
  4. Stationery knife.
  5. PVA glue.
  6. Pencil.
  7. Ruler.
  8. Masking tape.

We select a similar drawing for a false fireplace with our own hands. For example, like this:

You can make a false fireplace and higher. It all depends on your desire. Next, we transfer the circuit to our box. We draw with a pencil with a ruler and the necessary lines. Using a stationery knife, cut a hole for the "firewood" in the center of the box. We fold the edges of the box inward and glue or fix with masking tape to the back wall. If we decide to make a false fireplace out of cardboard, the sheets need to be glued. You can still walk on top with scotch tape for reliability.

We paint our product with white spray paint. Be sure to put newspapers underneath to avoid staining the floor. If there is no paint from a spray can, you can use a water-based paint.

We paint over our product with white paint. Let it dry. If gaps are visible, cover again. For the stability of our structure, we advise you to reinforce the bottom - with cardboard or a metal frame.

How can we make a simulated fire with our own hands? Of course, cardboard does not give us the opportunity to light a real fire in our flash fireplace. You can buy a lamp that looks like a flickering flame and put it in a recess in your fireplace. Someone makes firewood with their own hands from twisted cardboard, someone from twigs and twigs. If you live outside the city, firewood is not a problem for you. And for city dwellers, branches can be collected in the park. It's a good idea to put an electric garland or an electric candle on improvised firewood. That's all we did beautiful fireplace do it yourself.

The video shows a master class "How to make a fireplace out of boxes."

How many different decor you can do with your own hands, decorating a false fireplace. Perhaps some decor idea will be useful to you in your work.

You can always, then for an ordinary apartment the creation of a hearth was, until recently, a fantasy. Now everything is simple: having cardboard boxes, a little imagination and free time, you can create a stylish false fireplace!

Should I do it or not?

  1. Making such a fireplace is easy and cheap ... Even for a short time, for example, on the eve of the holidays. Cardboard boxes are usually found in every home.
  2. No restrictions ... There is no living hearth, that is, an open fire, in such imitations, which means that there is no need to worry about exhausting smoke or damage to the interior.
  3. Variability ... There can be many manufacturing methods, forms, configurations, due to which it is possible to place such a structure in any room of any size.
  4. Decor flexibility ... It is easy to match it to the existing interior.

Materials and manufacturing options

The main material for work is thick cardboard boxes, optimally from household appliances. In addition, depending on the shape, size and your own imagination, you will need:

  1. masking tape;
  2. plaster;
  3. dye;

  3. Corner. The most compact option, as it occupies an already unclaimed corner of the room.

Do-it-yourself fireplace for the New Year will make the atmosphere truly festive

The simplest of which you can make an imitation of a hearth in the house is from cardboard boxes. Where do they get them? The stores are full of this stuff, and if you ask them for several broken and unnecessary boxes, then this material will definitely be shared.

We make a wall-mounted New Year's fireplace with our own hands

The wall-mounted model is the easiest to fit into the interior. The best part about such a homemade product is that it is easy to choose the size yourself. It is not necessary to strictly follow the size instructions in the step-by-step instructions: everyone has different apartments, so it will not be difficult to subtract or add a few centimeters at your discretion.

The work takes place in three stages. The first step is to prepare everything necessary tools and materials:

  • the right amount of cardboard from the boxes;
  • thermal gun with a set of glue sticks;
  • stationery knife and scissors;
  • a drawing and a simple pencil;
  • acrylic white paint;
  • two packs of paper towels;
  • wide brush;
  • long ruler.

Let's grab a little more creative inspiration, a little patience, and watch an intelligible master class.

IllustrationDescription of action
This is an approximate drawing by the author of the work, with an indication of all values. Do not forget that you need to focus on your parameters. If you want a smaller fireplace, you need to proportionally reduce all the indicated values.
We transfer all the values to the cardboard and draw the cut lines using a ruler and a pencil. Do not worry that the dimensions indicate the length of the strip of 5 m - it can be of any national team. If something is missing, it can be easily scaled up! Cut out all the required shapes.
The result is an impressive pile of cut shapes.
On one of the two wide rectangles, mark the size of the fireplace window and first draw a rectangle. Then we round off the top corners and get a small arch.
Let's put together the bottom and top bunches. The assembly resembles the manufacture of 3D numbers: the sidewalls are planted on hot glue perpendicular to the base.
We take into account that we need stiffening ribs. Let's measure the width of the attack and cut out 4 identical rectangular stripes (two for each attack).
We glue the stiffening ribs and cut them from above if there are extra protruding edges.
We close the jumps with a lid and glue it well. We put the finished elements aside.
When working with the side with a window, we will foresee undesirable bends in advance and simply glue these places in a square or rectangle. Now we take the strip of the inner opening and attach it to the window.
Bend the strip with the right side inward. Then we glue it as thoroughly as possible.
We use three stiffeners. We glue the back cover.
Three components of the product are obtained. We glue the lower step with the base of the fireplace, and the upper one with the roof.
We cut a lot of cardboard rectangles. You should not chase perfect evenness, small flaws will not spoil the work. We spread " brickwork», Starting from the window opening. Then we proceed to laying out the front wall, then the side ones.
The "masonry" is completed with the inner contents of the "firebox".
We smear the corner of the fireplace with PVA glue, apply a napkin and again coat it with glue. In this way, the entire product is lined, except for the back wall.
The dried product is covered with white acrylic paint and decorate.

Decoration and decoration

As finishing cardboard fireplace no heavy figurines or unstable candles are used. You can decorate it LED strips, small compositions, firewood, artificial candles and socks for gifts.

Making a corner fireplace from cardboard with your own hands: the original design of the room

To get the corner version, it is better to take a ready-made and suitable box. One side of it needs to be cut in order for the remaining ones to fold into a triangle that fits into the corner in dimensions. All seams are pasted over with masking tape.

Draw the future opening on the facade, cut out a semicircular part from above, but do not reach the bottom. In the lower part we draw a suitable corner of the firebox and, having cut it out, bend it inward. From a separate sheet of cardboard we form the walls of the corner and glue them with masking tape.

Visualization of the future product is the first step in the work. The drawing helps to provide for all the key points.
The work uses a cross-cut saw, a screwdriver, a simple pencil and a tape measure. We carry out the assembly of the frame using a screwdriver and wood screws. Under the upper base, it is advisable to fasten the legs of the frame with furniture corners. Do not forget about the stiffening ribs, as in the photo.
They make measurements on a sheet of plywood, draw all the elements and cut them out. Remember to mark with a pencil which element is for what. If there is big leaf plywood, it makes sense to cut out all four whole parts of the body at once, leaving small ones for the opening of the firebox. The base - the pedestal is made with a gap of 8-9 cm. We turn the product over and fasten the base to the frame, gluing all the sections with wood glue.
We glue the lid with wood glue and treat it with stain, and then wax. The body is primed and sanded with fine sandpaper.
The outdoor decor consists of a plaster imitation brick and is attached with liquid nails.

Is it possible to make a false fireplace from old furniture

Do not rush and get rid of the annoying chest of drawers or sideboards. With the proper approach and imagination, this old piece of furniture can easily turn into an interesting false fireplace.

The work takes place in several stages:

  1. We take out all the shelves, completely freeing up the internal space.
  2. In front, we organize a facade of boards or plywood.
  3. We measure out the space for the firebox inside. It can be collected different ways: it can be a suitably sized blank cardboard box or a box, also simply assemble a firebox from plywood.
  4. We prime the product, skin and paint.
