What and how to store in the kitchen. We put things in order in kitchen cabinets and drawers

Basics of garden composition

In the kitchen, even if it is not very small, there is always not enough storage space. After all, I want to fit both dishes and food, and useful gadgets, and even so that it does not cause a sense of disorder.

Quartblog has collected for you the most useful, in our opinion, ideas for storage in the kitchen.

Place for lids

Often, it is the lids that take away important space from us in the kitchen: either they take up an entire drawer ineffectively, or they do not allow us to store the pots in one another. Try organizing a place for lids on your kitchen drawer door. A small rail, a towel rack, or even hooks with Velcro will do this.

You can store the lids compactly inside the drawer on the magazine stands.

Storage of cleaning products

It is convenient to store the cleaning products under the sink, using the spouts on the bar. In addition to the use of multi-tiered baskets and pull-out structures, light bottles and sponges can be stored on the door.

Space for cutting boards

Cutting boards can be stored using office folder organizer. The vertical one takes up less space, but the horizontal one will do - you can put something on top.

The board dividers can also be installed inside the kitchen drawer.

If there is no space at all in the boxes, hang the boards on the railing or use the side surfaces to place the hooks kitchen set.

And, again, don't forget about the shelves on the doors.

If you do not have enough space for slicing when preparing complex dishes, a pull-out board is a very convenient solution. An easier option is to place a regular board on top of the drawer that has been pulled out.

Shelf from an old drawer

If you are changing your kitchen, do not throw away the old drawers, they will come in handy in the new one. Shelves for dishes can be made of them: hinged or standing on the countertop.

Storage of spices and bulk products

If food is not stored in the same bags in which it is sold, but in special jars, the kitchen will look neater, and you will find what you need faster. Jars can be bought or made by yourself.

It is easy to make spice jars from the empty glass containers. Cut out the name of the spice from the package and tape it to the new container.

To save space, such jars can be stored not in the closet, but under it. That is, we glue the lid to the lower surface of the upper kitchen cabinets, and fasten the jar itself to the lid.

More about this idea and others possible ways For the use of glass jars, see the post "The Second Life of Glass Jars: 12 Ideas."

Convenient storage of spaghetti can be achieved with two plastic bottles... Cut off the bottom of them and trim the edge with scissors. On one bottle, make a vertical cut at the top so that the resulting "glasses" are inserted one into the other. In such a design, you can store not only spaghetti, but also cereals.

Attachments for fastening

Pay the attention you deserve to the roof rails. Of course, the idea is not so new, but it is extremely useful.

Things should be stored where it would be more convenient not to get them, but to return them to their place.

Marie Kondo "Magic Cleaning"

Today I invite you to look into the kitchen. There are so many cooking tools here that the hostess herself may not remember all of them. We rarely use some - baking dishes, a meat grinder, a food processor, etc. Most often, we store them on distant shelves and take them out on occasion. We use others several times every day, with their help we cook and eat.

For food we use spoons, forks and knives of various sizes and shapes. For cooking - shovels, ladles, whisks, pushers, skimmers, graters, vegetable peelers, corkscrews, silicone brushes ... There are so many of these tools that in some online stores they do not even have a name - apparently, they do not have time to invent. You need to store all this wealth competently, so as not to waste time looking for the right scapula, not to reach across the kitchen for a ladle and not to climb on the mezzanine in search of a corkscrew. Today we will visit my kitchen and the kitchens of my colleagues, and see how the storage of kitchen appliances of the most frequent use is organized. But first...

We will conduct an audit

If your kitchen and cutlery is a mess, it's time to get it right! As a true follower of Mari Kondo, I already know that before organizing storage, it is imperative to conduct an audit... Then there will be fewer things to fit in and it is easy to estimate the volume to be organized. In one of my articles, I wrote about the wardrobe revision. These rules also apply to the kitchen.

I did so: put everything on the table for a good view and divided it into three parts... The first is what needs to be left - the beautiful, useful appliances that are used. Second, I doubt that these devices should be put aside for a month to see if they are so necessary. Personally, in my kitchen there were no things in such a group. And the third is what should be thrown away.

I looked at every subject and asked myself - do I often use it and does it do its job well... If the answer is "no" - threw it out. I also got rid of devices that I simply do not like. Thus, I threw away only 2 items - a plastic spatula, which was very uncomfortable in shape (besides, I had a second, convenient one), and a wooden spatula, which had already served its purpose and did not look aesthetically pleasing. And in the kitchen it is very important that everything looks beautiful - the desire to cook directly depends on this. So I finally bought a nice ceramic knife in a case I had been looking at for a long time and a beautiful bright green multicooker spoon.

We organize storage

After revision you need to determine how and where to store all these devices... There cannot be an ideal solution here - all kitchens and housewives are different. The main thing is ease of use. Every kitchen appliance follows the same trajectory every day: storage location - location of use - washing location - drying location (if needed) - storage location. It is very convenient when this trajectory is minimal, and the storage place is located near the place of drying or washing, then cleaning the devices in places is easy and effortless.

There can be several storage places, then it is necessary to separate the items. After looking at the photos of my colleagues, I noticed only two principles of division... The first is for its intended purpose, when cutlery is stored separately, kitchen utensils are stored separately. The second is in terms of frequency of use. Frequently used ones are located side by side, rarely used ones farther away.

I have two storage locations. The cutlery is in a drawer near the sink and I put it there right after washing. And the cooking utensils hang right above the sink, which is even more convenient - I washed it and hung it up right away. There are no additional dryers. This storage suits me, especially after I threw away unnecessary items.

What about the others?

Now I propose to go to the kitchen of my colleagues from "Everything in the Field" and their girlfriends, and see how they store cutlery.

Elena... Lena has three storage places for kitchen utensils.

The first is next to the stove. There is a hanging glass with spatulas, which are used most often in food preparation, as well as a magnetic holder for knives.

The second is a drawer next to the dining table. Cutlery is stored here in a special organizer, from here it is convenient to take them when setting the table.

And the third is a drawer, which contains rarely used spatulas, cooking spoons, corkscrews, bottle openers, whisks.

There is also a box with baking equipment. It is very convenient to keep it in one place. The baskets organize the space.

Natalia... Natalia keeps all her devices in one place - in a drawer. But, before getting there after washing, they are dried in a special tray on the table.

Regina... Regina divided the devices according to their intended purpose. The first group - cutlery - is stored in a special container in a hanging cabinet. The second is the cooking utensils in a drawer.

Natalia... Natasha and her family live in a rented apartment, where there are no drawers in the kitchen unit. Therefore, all kitchen and cutlery are stored in plastic containers on the rail next to the sink. Everything is at hand - very convenient.

Alyona... All her kitchen utensils are kept in plain sight - on hanging rails and in a stand by the stove, knives on a magnetic bar. The kitchen is small and there is no room for drawers in the headset. Children's appliances stand separately from adults - on a shelf from which children can get them themselves. Since there is not so much space, there are no unnecessary things - everything is just "to the point."

Ideas

And finally, a few ideas from the Internet.

Kitchen appliances can be stored in different ways... It takes up space to a minimum, and everything is in plain sight when you need it.

Whether the kitchen is small or large, thoughtful storage can make it super-convenient and the kitchen cabinets, pantry and refrigerator roomy. In this article you will find 17 practical advice and 85 photo ideas to help you organize a space from scratch or optimize an existing "system".

17 kitchen storage solutions

1. Set up your main storage area in the work area

Let's start our guide to organizing kitchen storage, perhaps with the basic principles. And here is one of them - everything you need to keep close at hand.

  • Ideally, the work surface should be between the sink and the stove, and its optimal length should be about 90 cm. Accordingly, all utensils, utensils and food needed for cooking every day should be stored above and below the work surface, as well as under the stove.

The more in demand this or that thing / product, the closer it should be located to the desktop. In this case, the tabletop itself should be almost empty.

In the lower cabinets, you need to store large and heavy things, and in the upper ones - small and light ones.

2. Sort and store items / products by category

  • Items of the same type should be collected in one (!) Place, even if on the same shelf, but separately from items of other categories. So you can quickly find the things you need and easily clean up your closets.

Even visually, shelves with supplies and utensils sorted into categories look neat and beautiful. Despite the obviousness of this principle, not everyone and not always follow it. For example, we often store pans mixed with baking dishes or pots. And, say, we put bottles with vegetable oil somewhere between the cereal and pasta.

  • There are, of course, exceptions to this rule. So, for example, sugar and salt can be stored both together with seasonings and spices, and on the table in a salt shaker and sugar bowl. Storing fruits and vegetables -
    this is a completely different story, because different types of fruits require different conditions. In general, the principle works everywhere and in everything - from storing food in the refrigerator to storing dishes in a sideboard.

Of course, you don't need to get carried away with sorting things into subcategories and subcategories, otherwise it will become inconvenient to search and clean things up.

3. Store things in trays and containers

The cutlery drawer is usually equipped with a tray with dividers. Little advice- it is desirable that the dividers in the tray can be easily rearranged, then the size of the compartments can be changed at your discretion

Containers and cans can be labeled for more convenience

All kinds of rods, sticks and rods, reduced and inserted into boxes, turn into convenient dividers, for example, for storing lids as in this photo, boards and trays

Storing kitchen utensils in a tray will make it easier to clean the countertop.

An example of organizing the storage of kitchen utensils in trays

Trays for storing assorted little things are especially needed.

4. If you are designing a kitchen from scratch, rely on drawers and systems

The lower tier of the kitchen should be almost completely equipped with drawers, and some top lockers it is also not superfluous to add pull-out shelves... So you can use every corner of your kitchen, quickly find the things you need and put them in place without squatting.

5. Store things mostly not in stacks, but in rows

Store and put things not horizontally on top of each other (in stacks), but vertically one after another (in rows), then you can easily find and take out the necessary items without disturbing the established order in the closet.

  • Use dividers, trays, boxes, and hooks to keep things upright.

It is best to store cutting boards, baking trays, trays and molds vertically

This kitchen storage life hack is simple and ingenious, but not always obvious. Especially when it comes to storing a stock of kitchen towels and napkins - after all, textiles, unlike boxes and cans, do not stand vertically. To solve this problem, simply fold the fabric into a rectangle or roll.

An example of vertical storage of kitchen textiles: towels, napkins, potholders, aprons and tablecloths

The principle of vertical storage works in almost everything, only deep dishes and containers can and should be stacked.

6. In a small kitchen, it is necessary to use non-standard storage locations

Here are some ideas for storage in the kitchen in non-standard locations:

  • Cabinet doors - Hooks can be glued to them or wall holders can be attached. True, only light objects can be stored on the doors, otherwise there is a risk of breaking the hinges. It is also important to fasten the hooks and holders so that they and the objects they hold do not rest against the shelves, otherwise the door will not close.

Kitchen towels rarely look tidy, so cabinet doors are ideal for storing them.

This life hack with a clothespin will allow you to always have rubber gloves on hand and never lose them in the bowels of the closet.

  • The ends and outer walls of kitchen furniture- they are good because they can withstand not only towels and potholders but also heavy objects: knives, cutting boards, pans and pans... The main thing is to choose reliable shelves / holders and fix them carefully so as not to spoil the look of the kitchen. Below are photo ideas for storing things on the outer walls of furniture.

It is easy to create such a storage system with your own hands from shelves and brackets.

  • Internal walls of cabinets- here it is convenient to hang measuring spoons and nozzles from electrical appliances, which are not needed so often, on hooks.

Idea for storing kitchen utensils

  • Place under the wall cabinets- here you can hang a narrow shelf for storing spices as in the photo below ...

... or screw the lids from the cans to the bottom of the wall cabinet, so that you can then screw the cans with spices or bulk products into them.

The idea of storing spices in jars under a wall cabinet is easy to implement with your own hands.

7. Use the corner of the kitchen 100%

Often in the corner of the kitchen "dead zones" are formed, which are not used in any way due to their inaccessibility. In order for this place to be used 100%, you should equip the headset corner cabinet with pull-out systems - baskets, shelves, shelves or carousels.

8. Life hack for a small kitchen - a wardrobe up to the ceiling

In addition to roof rails, perforated boards made of hardboard or steel will help to use walls for storing things. Simply paint the board the desired color, add hooks to it and hang it on the wall. Photo ideas for a wall structure for storing things and products are presented in the next slider.

And, of course, shelves will help organize wall storage of things. It is advisable that they are matched to the tone of the wall or kitchen furniture. As well as with rails, it is important not to overdo it with shelves - they quickly gather dust and overload the interior.

11. Organize the space under the sink

The area under the sink is great for storing trash cans, cleaning supplies, and a supply of sponges and rags. Here are some ideas and tips on how to optimize this space:

  • Insert one rod (a wardrobe rod will work) into the cabinet under the sink and hang sprays and spray guns on it.

Under-sink storage idea

  • Screw a pull-out container to one of the walls, for example, this one of Ikea .

  • Hang towel hooks or organizers on the door to store sponges, rags, and other utensils.
  • Use small shelves with shelves and drawers.

  • It is desirable that the trash bin is also retractable.

12. Do not use round jars and trays, but square or rectangular

It is better to store dry foods in rectangular and square jars / containers, as they fit together more neatly and more compactly than round ones. The advice is relevant for all storage accessories (baskets, trays, containers), as well as household appliances (coffee machines, stationary blenders, scales, etc.).

13. Buy a sink organizer

Dishwashing detergent, sponges and brushes are very convenient to store in silicone or plastic organizers. This frees up space near the sink and protects the worktop / drainer from dripping drips.

Such organizers are sold on Aliexpress for 150-300 rubles.

14. Use furniture with built-in drawers and shelves

For example, this could be a table with drawers under the countertop, a bench with built-in drawers under the seat, or a bar counter with shelves in the underframe.

15. If the kitchen has a little free space - use additional shelves, consoles and trolleys

Tall shelves help out when there is not enough storage space, and there is no pantry in the kitchen.

Narrow but very roomy rack on wheels

If there is no space for shelving, try building your storage system around a doorway or window.

The cart is good for its compactness, spaciousness and mobility.

16. Use plug-in shelves and shelves

This little trick allows you to use the entire height of the cabinets and get additional usable space literally out of nowhere. You can buy such shelves in Ikea (Variety series).

Today, as promised, we'll talk about organizing our kitchen cabinets and drawers.

Since the kitchen is a very individual space, which bears the imprint of the character and habits of its owners and differs greatly from house to house, at least in such characteristics as its size, intensity of use, functionality, thoughtfulness at the planning stage and many more. to others, it is very difficult to give any universal instructions regarding putting things in order. However, I want to offer you some recommendations that will help you in the difficult task of organizing such a difficult room as a kitchen.

  1. We throw out the excess

The basic rule of putting things in order kitchen cabinets and boxes - get rid of unnecessary and unnecessary, group together objects similar in function and use, and place the received groups in the zones of their use.

First of all, I would like to warn you against trying to make out everything at once. Considering that it can be as difficult to disassemble one kitchen drawer as it is to tidy up an entire room, chances are high that your fuse or temporary resources will run out as soon as you remove all the contents of all the drawers and cabinets, which will lead to even more chaos. Therefore, the surest way to achieve the desired result is to take your time and break the work into stages (for example, one box a day).

At this stage, our goal is to free up space in cabinets and drawers for storing what you really use regularly. As a result of the work done, you should be able to easily and quickly find the desired item without spending extra effort on shifting other items. In addition, drawers and cabinets should be easy to open and nothing should fall out of nothing when opened. To achieve this, you must assess the usefulness of this or that item as objectively as possible, ruthlessly getting rid of everything dubious and of little use (do you really need so many containers or so many knives? What is the use of a container without a lid?).

  1. Sort and arrange the items left by their zones of use.

In the previous article, we already touched on the issue of kitchen zoning. It is the zoning of the kitchen that will tell you where and what to store correctly in terms of ergonomics.

  • STORAGE: The "storage" area is used to accommodate things such as:
    Cutlery;
    Household stuff;
    Small electrical appliances.

In addition, food is stored in this area, so there is a refrigerator for storing perishable and frozen food.

  • WASHING: in this area there is a dishwasher, if it is meant, a sink with a cabinet. You can put in the cabinet:
    Garbage bin;
    Cleaning products and inventory;
    Dishwashing detergents;
    Garbage bags.

But be careful: there are also pipes in the cabinet under the sink - which means that there is always a danger of leaks. Therefore, the things that you store there must be reliably protected from water, and the storage system used should not impede free access to the pipes.

  • CUTTING AND PREPARING FOOD: This area is the main work area in the kitchen. It is recommended to place in this zone kitchen utensils which are necessary for cooking. For example:
    Cutting boards;
    Vinegar, oil, etc .;
    Spices and condiments;
    Bowls and bowls;
    Food processors, meat grinder and other equipment.

In addition, open and frequently used products can be stored in this area.

  • HEAT PROCESSING OF FOOD: The cooking area is undoubtedly one of the main working areas of every kitchen. It contains a stove, extractor hood, oven. This is where it is best to store items used for cooking on the stove and in the oven. For example:
    Pans;
    Pans;
    Baking trays and grates;
    Forms and foil for baking;
    Baking fixtures and components;
    Tack rags.

Even in the smallest kitchen, you can easily select the most demanded of these zones.

At this stage, you are required to place the remaining items in those areas of the kitchen where they are most often used, so as not to waste time looking for them.

  1. We put things in their places

Now that we have determined what should be stored in which zone, it is necessary to carefully arrange things in their places.

It is important to remember that the most frequently used items must be kept within your reach (a space that you can clearly see and where you can reach without standing on your toes or squatting).

Boxes

Then I remembered one video dedicated to putting things in order kitchen drawers... The author takes out one of his boxes. Various household items (sponges for dishes, bags, gauze, foil, etc.) lie in it quite chaotically. The lady takes out everything, lines the bottom with paper, and then puts everything back in free order. Honestly, it was very similar to putting together a puzzle - what went where was left there. So: this should not be so in any case! Throwing away all unnecessary things, folding back the necessary items at random is a direct path to a mess. With active use of the box, this order will last for a week, and then all things will be mixed again, and you will return to where you started.

At this stage, it is important for you to limit the free movement of things around the box. Here are some tools to help you achieve this:

  • Shelf dividers... Probably, every housewife has a divider for storing cutlery in one of the drawers. Why not use delimiters in others as well? Moreover, their variety will allow you to choose the one you need based on what and where you need to share.

  • Plastic baskets. I have already dedicated an entire ode to them, praising their many advantages and possibilities of use. Organizing order in a drawer is one of them

  • Unnecessary boxes... Why bring unnecessary items into the house (even if they are intended to maintain order) when you can use the existing ones?

What is better to keep in boxes:

The most frequently used items will be most expediently stored in drawers, which will simplify access to them. It can be:

      • Kitchen essentials such as can openers, garlic press and so on. They are usually kept together in one drawer.
      • If you bake a lot, you may want to have a separate drawer just for measuring cups, measuring spoons, molds, and other tools.
      • Allocate space in the drawer for tea towels and oven mitts
      • The bottom drawer can be used to store groceries such as cereals, flour, salt, sugar, etc.
      • You may need a separate drawer for storing food containers and items such as foil and parchment for baking.

By the way, a few more words about containers. Give preference to square and rectangular - they take up less space during storage!

Cabinets.

What do we keep in our lockers most often?

      • A variety of dishes: cups, plates, bowls.
      • Small household appliances (remember that the heavier the appliance, the closer to the floor it should be stored).
      • Groceries and condiments

From the point of view of organization, lockers are much inferior in terms of convenience to drawers.

In the case of cabinets, because of their design features, quite a lot of empty space is formed, due to the inconvenience in use without special organizers. For example, in the back of the cabinet - this space can be used to store rarely used things, but there is a great risk of losing them altogether. Well-chosen organizers will help you cope with these inconveniences. I would highlight the following.

  • Multi-tiered stands(usually two-, three-). Items placed on it are clearly visible even in the back of the cabinet. If you do not want to spend money on a special stand, you can build something similar by yourself by placing an unnecessary narrow box deep in the cabinet and putting things on it.

The kitchen area is modest in size compared to other rooms. Open surfaces are often overflowing with food and kitchen items. IN cramped kitchens you also have to use the floor as a storage place. It will be inconvenient to navigate through it. To do a complete cleaning is bad organized kitchen is much more complicated and the cooking process takes longer. Modern kitchen furniture more thoughtful and roomy, but it will not be possible to foresee all the nuances when buying it. The kitchen will likely have to be redone many times. Buying various tools for organizing space can make the kitchen even more inconvenient, so you shouldn't make rash purchases and you need to rely only on your own opinion. It is also not worth buying extra dishes. It is recommended to take measurements before purchasing storage systems.

Open storage systems

The kitchen contains many different containers, filled and empty jars, pans, pots. Sometimes it is difficult to find out what is located and where. Chaos is disorganizing, which is why order in the kitchen is just as important as hygiene. The main role is played by the furniture facade and open surfaces. But in small room with a significant amount of kitchen utensils, it is necessary to carefully plan the space, redo something by hand, and implement non-standard solutions. Open structures - baskets, panels, shelves, niches, open shelves, magnetic boards will help you to place any items in a useful, harmonious and beautiful way. It is recommended to select several zones. The sections are equipped for storing food, household appliances, various kitchen tools. Do not overload the dining table and floor.

You should not equip the kitchen with an excessive number of open storage systems - this can ruin the appearance.

Shelves

There are several modifications of kitchen shelves. They are ordinary - with a simple surface, specialized (for dishes and various containers), etc. Plates can be placed on a drying rack, pans can be conveniently hung on a rack with hooks. The dryers themselves can be grate or have a closed bottom. On sale are often found combined options combining designs for all types of kitchen utensils. The shelves can be made with your own hands. Singles are easier to create, but editing will take longer. Recently, hanging shelves that can be raised and lowered have been popular. Chained shelves are the most interesting type of suspended surfaces. Shelves are usually placed in the upper half of the kitchen. A large horizontal surface under the ceiling is good for containers, including bottles of alcoholic beverages.

Niches

These are grooves in the wall. They are often used to accommodate various items. Niches - design reception with practical benefits. The extra space is mainly used for storing crockery. A large niche will fit a dishwasher. Depressions in the walls can become an interior decoration - if there is a desire to make them with your own hands, then the main part of the kitchen (near the dining table) should become the place of placement. The kitchen area will be decorated with several arched niches. For arched recesses, classical and Arabic motifs will be relevant. A large magnetic board can be placed in high niches. A refrigerator or kitchen cabinet is sometimes placed inside a high arched recess. The indentations are also used for "camouflage" household appliances... The lower part will fit the organizer.

Open cabinets or shelving

Shelves are used for storage:

  • small household appliances;
  • cookbooks;
  • cutlery;
  • towels;
  • napkins;
  • fruits and vegetables.

Some decorate them with items with decorative meaning - several flowerpots or photo frames. There are straight and inclined models. Racks can be made with your own hands, but this process will take a long time. In specialized stores there is a large selection of kitchen storage systems at "affordable" prices for rooms of all sizes. The variety of shelving units includes designs in the form of an island table; with angular and linear shelves; in the form of pedestals; reminiscent of a stepladder; mobile with casters and clamps. Open cabinets can act as a sideboard. They place food and dishes. By configuration, they are divided into ordinary and suspended. In the kitchen, the second option is more common. Cabinets and shelves will become an important part of the design and will be able to take on the main functional load.

Roof rails, hooks and magnetic tape

Railing is a versatile system for placing various kitchen items. It must be securely fastened. Its main disadvantage is a small functional load, so only those items are stored there that are inconvenient to keep in other places. Roof railing area - space under kitchen facade... Almost all roof rails are equipped with hooks for cooking spoons and spatulas, slotted spoons, glasses, mugs and other kitchen utensils. Hooks can be installed independently, in any corner of the kitchen. Items such as magnetic boards and tapes not only look stylish, but can also accommodate many items in a small area, making the most of the space. One narrow magnetic tape is capable of holding pans, all forks, spoons and knives.

Perforated wall panel

In terms of functionality, a multi-hole panel would be comparable to magnetic tape, but not all kitchen utensils are designed to fit this way. Holes come in different shapes, but the most common are round and diamond-shaped. Perforated panels can be used to trim almost all available wall space. Modern coatings not "afraid of fat": such panels are useful for wall cladding instead of tiles or whitewash. Perforated partitions are also used for zoning: the kitchen is divided into parts, the dining area is separated from the living room. Free space on the panel is useful for installation decorative elements, colors and climbing plants... The remaining area can be filled with fixtures from other rooms that are usually not kept in the kitchen.

On a surface with holes, you can add a large number of hooks; this will greatly increase its functionality.

Baskets and boxes

These small storage facilities will help you sort items. They can also be lattice. Cutlery is put in baskets, sometimes a small kitchen appliances and everything that can unnecessarily load the surface. Baskets and boxes are placed in openings, on the surface under the kitchen facade, on the headset, on the refrigerator, under the table and in niches. Special boxes and baskets for the dining table are on sale: for salt shakers, pepper shakers, closed bread bins. Some baskets can be combined into one system, which will be convenient to carry. Hanging baskets will improve ergonomics and increase the usefulness of the space. In the technical part of the kitchen, an ordinary box can be used as a container for garbage. Baskets and boxes will organically fit into the Provence and Loft style furnishings, as well as into the traditional kitchen interior.

Baskets are a great place to store:

  • spices;
  • vegetables;
  • fruit;
  • vessels.

Mobile pedestal table

This is a drawer table equipped with casters. It can be used as an impromptu dining table; or as a serving table and place it under a regular dining table. Such furniture will allow you to store all the most necessary things for cooking and decoration. festive table... The mobile kitchen table is not just for the kitchen. It is used to transport ready-made meals, and is installed in other rooms as a festive table. Some pedestal tables have an additional pull-out section so that you can stretch your legs under it. In some furniture designs, one of the drawers can be pulled out into a long table. This is the best option to save space. A conventional mobile cabinet will also save space, because it can be moved from place to place in search of optimal placement.

Closed storage systems

Do not load the surface with a lot of utensils. The bulk of the fixtures should be contained in a furniture set. Closed structures are equipped with various mechanisms to increase the useful volume. Manufacturers equip them with static and pull-out elements: tables that can be an alternative to conventional ones, dryers that allow you to place wet dishes. Folding trays, corner systems that open with a "train", internal compartments, special sections with molds, nested boxes, partitions, moving and mobile sections - all these devices should contain a universal kitchen set. Modern furniture is equipped with well-thought-out shelves and cameras to avoid the chaotic clutter of dishes. In such conditions, it is easier to clean up and maintain cleanliness.

Corner storage systems

Such systems usually use swivel mechanisms... The shelves and trays can be rolled out individually or one after the other. This is perfect solution for a small kitchen. The corner system is set in motion by opening a door or drawer with inner corner... A trash can is sometimes placed in the corner of a furniture set: this is not the most rational way to use such a structure. Some corner devices are equipped with high cargo: they are narrow, but suitable for storing oblong items, bottles. The interior of the corner structure may contain a two-tier structure with round shelves. Bulky pots and pans are stored here. Lattice shelves are preferable to conventional shelves. Corner systems are being improved every year, rotating elements appear, devices for automatically lifting the lid of the trash can.

Buffets and lockers

These are traditional elements of a kitchen set for storing a large number of appliances, accessories and food. In the absence of another suitable place, they store containers with drinks, including wines, juices, water. Various utensils are kept in the lower drawers, cutlery and spices are placed a little higher, and in the upper zone they contain food products that have no place in the refrigerator. Kitchen cabinets have special sections for different accessories. Some models do not have doors, and this has its advantages. Cabinets take up a lot of space, so when designing, you should think about recesses for embedding furniture. Hanging cabinets are a traditional part of kitchen facades. Their main qualities should be spaciousness and convenient location.

Functions performed by buffets:

  1. Placement of decorating elements.
  2. Food storage.
  3. Placement of sets of dishes.

Drawers with dividers and additional compartments

In modern kitchen systems more and more drawers with dividers can be found. They are designed to help in organizing internal space, grouping accessories into categories. The sections are made different in height and area. Some drawers are equipped with additional compartments in the form of molds for storing cutlery: spoons, forks and knives. They are stationary and mobile. Some pull-out surfaces provide a grid for wet dishes. Pull-out tables are another feature of the pull-out sections. The boxes can be horizontal or vertical. In the second case, all the compartments are high, the lower one is larger than the rest. It is convenient to store bottles and other containers in such a narrow space. In some retractable designs, all sections are connected in one piece.

Arrangement of a pantry in a kitchen niche

Kitchen recesses serve as a place for additional fixtures and decorations. Large deep niches can actually be converted into a mini-pantry. And if the niche is a full-fledged room in the wall, then it is worth keeping all kinds of household appliances, as well as bottles, large kitchen appliances, various baskets, and twists for the winter. The main furniture elements can be racks and open cabinets, wall and hanging shelves. A large kitchen pantry is sometimes fenced off with a curtain or sliding door. The walls must be equipped with additional hooks and stands. A large railing system with wide functionality will not be superfluous. Another interesting life hack is to equip a trash bin instead of a bucket. Its function will be performed by one of the lower drawers of the desktop. During the processing of food, you can open it with your foot and throw everything unnecessary right off the table. You can also make a hole in the table with a lid, and place a trash can under it - another way to quickly remove garbage. Corner structures rolling out like a train are an excellent example of how you can effectively use the corner of a room and facilitate access to distant places inside furniture. 2. Attach large, wide-necked, round containers to the walls.

Set up key storage locations in the work area

A drawer for pots and pans can be located directly under the stove. If not, then the most used ones are best kept in the oven. The dishes can be placed on the shelves under the facade. Cereals, spices, pasta, graters, boards, as well as cooking utensils are placed in wall cabinets. Additional hanging baskets can accommodate the remaining accessories. If the dishes in the bedside tables are placed randomly, then you will need additional plug-in shelves. It is permissible to keep a small amount of dishes and various mugs on the table of the working area. It is advisable to equip all boxes with a small backlight, if it is not provided by the manufacturer. Several magnetic elements can be installed on the lower surface of the facade, on which jars with iron lids or other metal objects.

In the work area, a simple rule applies: the fewer objects on an open surface, the better.

Store items / products by category

Items for different purposes are constantly mixed with each other. The order can also be out of order due to the beautiful external design, which requires a "play" of shapes and colors. Boxes, containers, organizers, various containers, bags with zippers and vacuum bags will help to organize effective work in the kitchen. Food in the refrigerator also needs to be sorted, a place must be chosen for them in order to quickly get the food you need. Decide exactly how you want to group your kitchenware. It is recommended to divide them into main groups: dishes, containers for food preparation, food, drinks, spices, household appliances, cleaning devices. Each of these categories needs to be divided into several more subgroups. You need to be guided by the shape, size, purpose, frequency of use.

Use square trays, containers, boxes and dividers

The square is the most compact of all parallelepiped shapes, so this storage method will be the most economical. The trays contain cutlery, but there are also special sections for bottles, pans, tools and food. Spices, salt are stored in small square boxes, in large - various utensils, household appliances, tools. Square containers can contain raw cereals and legumes, or cooked food: cereals, sandwiches, soups. Use containers everywhere: in all cupboards, cupboards, on tables and in the refrigerator. Allocate storage space for empty containers. Dividers are another means of separating different categories of items from each other. With their help, you can create makeshift compartments. The main advantage is the ability to change the resulting designs, if necessary.

Vertical storage

It can be realized through vertical storage systems, hanging shelves, vertical drives, etc. Small rooms "need" such arrangement. Vertical systems are open or closed structures with multiple shelf levels. Small kitchens need systems with narrow shelves and vertical placement of items: dishes, culinary literature, etc. Shelves on chains and vertical drives are another good decision for small spaces, also from an aesthetic point of view. The content of the systems should be placed according to the frequency of use and weight. The heaviest items are placed below. Above are frequently used ones. On the upper tiers, they put those things that are used less often. At the very top is the perfect place for decorative items as well as wines and twists.

Place under wall cabinets can be additionally equipped with open hanging shelves. Add a magnetic strip to the bottom surface of the hanging pieces of furniture to place metal objects. Jars can be attached to the bottom of the cabinet with the lids up. Cabinet doors are the perfect place to create extra storage space. Equip them from the outside and from the inside with small shelves, and a lot of space will be freed up in the kitchen. The organization of the interior of the furniture requires a special approach. There are various organizers and drawers on sale. You can do something like this yourself. The ends of the furniture set are the best place to place vertical sliding systems. You can install hooks on the outer walls of the furniture. Place a structure above the dining table to accommodate glasses and other glassware. This is ideal for large, flat items such as baking trays, boards, pans, cooking magazines. Some people put molds there for feeding pets. Make a compartment in the base for accessories. Plinth drawers are a great place for pull-out systems. Decide whether the plinth will be converted into boxes, preferably before buying furniture. Too low a lower tier (less than 15 cm) can become an obstacle to such changes.

You cannot place there something that is "afraid" of water or dirt. Keep all the household chemicals in the kitchen here. Equip drawers to neatly place all items. Store spray guns, containers with detergents, etc. in them. It is better to laminate or seal the edges of the boxes with electrical tape. It is recommended to protect the lower part with a pallet. If the pipe starts to leak, it will protect the adjacent compartments from water. Install towel racks as well. The trash can must be secured to the pull-out mechanism. Almost all modern furniture has such a fixture. Some retractable systems simultaneously with the opening of the door, raise the lid of the trash can. If there are no shelves on the doors, then attach at least one. It will come in handy when the section is overflowing with containers. It is recommended to keep one of the doors open.

When using the washbasin, water flows to the surface on which food is processed for subsequent cooking. If you fix a mobile organizer on the edge of the table, then work in this area will be more convenient and comfortable. The organizer should be filled with brushes, sponges and detergent, and on a special handle you can hang two towels: for hands and a table. The designs are usually equipped with a special hook-holder for jewelry, rings, etc. To choose the right organizer, pay attention to things such as fastening, size, and the presence of a special container with a dispenser. If you are guided by the correct criteria when buying, then the device will be securely attached to the table and will immediately accommodate everything you need for washing dishes and cleaning surfaces. Some models of organizers are attached to the tap.

Single shelves are displayed in several tiers. Tilted shelves with diamond-shaped sections are used to store bottles. A simple system can be made by hand. Shelves can also be beneficial. Suspended models are placed in the corner. The functional purpose of such shelves is limited to removing a number of items from the tables. Variations in the form of a small mobile table with baskets in several levels are worth buying. The space under the mobile shelf can be freed up at any time. In addition, it is designed to carry food; can play the role of an impromptu dining table. The baskets are used to store spices, jams and dressings.

Use of space above cabinets

The upper part of the kitchen is useful for placing clocks, decor items, photo frames, bottles, twists. The space above the cabinets and refrigerator is difficult to reach, so you should get a small folding ladder. The storage role can be assigned to portable boxes. Above the kitchen facade, you can make something like a mezzanine. It is enough to know how to make partitions and fix the doors. If there are no unnecessary items on the surface, then you can do decorative arrangement. The upper area is decorated with flowerpots, figurines, photo frames and various boxes. Do not place objects close to the thermal zone (located above the stove). It is inappropriate to store personal items here. The upper tier should be well lit.
