How to clean the hood over the gas stove. How to clean your kitchen hood effortlessly: tips and tricks

Walls

In this article, we will share with you the most popular methods for cleaning the hood in the kitchen using cheap and affordable tools that will quickly achieve the desired effect at home and without any extra effort. Soda, vinegar and lemon are sure to be found in every kitchen at home.

Preparing the hood for cleaning

The first thing to do is to clean it from soot, grease and dirt. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. De-energize the hood.
  2. Remove directly above gas stove the grill behind which the hood filters are located, then place it in a soapy solution.
  3. Dismantle and clean the pipe leading to the air duct.
  4. Wash external and internal surfaces kitchen hood.
  5. Wash filters, hood mesh.
  6. Dry all washed parts, then reassemble the entire device in reverse order.

Folk remedies against fat plaque

There are a lot of ways to clean the hood in the kitchen. Using the recommendations given will allow you to avoid the need to purchase expensive cleaning agents and quickly remove grease from the hood parts without unnecessary costs using improvised means.

  • The easiest way is to soak all removable parts of the device (mesh, filter, grate) in a solution of soap or dishwashing detergent. When preparing the solution, use detergent and water in a ratio of 1 to 4. After some time, the parts must be rinsed with boiling water and washed with a sponge, then dried and replaced.
  • Cleaning with soda. In case of heavy contamination of the mesh and filter, it is possible to clean them by boiling in a soda solution. To do this, take a large container in which you can place the whole parts, fill it with water and put it on the stove. When heating the water, you should constantly pour soda into the container, stirring constantly so that it dissolves. After the mixture has boiled, it is necessary to put a mesh and filters in it, then boil for about half an hour. This will effectively remove even stubborn deposits of fat from the parts.
  • Cleaning with laundry soap. Ordinary laundry soap will make it easy to deal with oily deposits. To do this, rub the soap into a container with hot water and put the hood parts there to soak. After a while, it is necessary to remove the filters and grate from the container and remove the remaining grease with a hard sponge or scraper.
  • Cleaning the hood parts with vinegar. An affordable product such as vinegar will effectively remove grease from the hood parts. Use only undiluted vinegar to maximize the cleaning effect. Gloves should be used when handling vinegar to avoid skin irritation. Apply vinegar to removable parts and leave for 15-20 minutes to dissolve dirt. Then wash off the remaining dirt with a sponge and thoroughly rinse the grill and filters with running water.
  • Using citric acid for cleaning. In addition to acetic acid, citric acid will perfectly cope with the task of washing the hood, and lemon juice is also suitable. As with vinegar, the product should not be diluted so as not to diminish its effectiveness. Citric acid or squeezed lemon juice must be applied to the removed parts of the hood, wait for the fat to dissolve, then wipe with a sponge and rinse with water. If the first time it was not possible to remove all the dirt, the manipulation will have to be repeated several times.

In addition to the need to clean the “insides” of the cooker hood at home, cleaning the outer casing of the device is also important. Dust and grease deposited on the surface stick together and dry out. New layers of grease and dust settle on this crust and, as a result, wash outer surface hoods can be difficult. Therefore, the device cover must be cleaned regularly.

It will not be difficult to wash the outer surface when following simple recommendations. First of all, take a grease dissolving agent (eg dishwashing detergent), apply to the surface and leave for a while. Then, use a sponge to clean the hood of the device. If small traces of dirt remain, you can try to remove them using a special plastic scraper. It is unacceptable to use metal in this case: it can scratch the surface.

You can also try to remove stubborn dirt with lemon: to do this, cut the fruit in half and process the stubborn dirt in half. Impact citric acid will even cope with persistent dirt, but remember that to breed lemon juice unacceptable: this will reduce the intensity of acid exposure.

The frequency with which the hood should be cleaned depends on the intensity of the cooking and, accordingly, on the operating time of the appliance. The time available to the hostess plays an important role: if you wish, you can wash the hood often enough, but there is no need for daily cleaning, despite the regular use of this device.

General cleaning of the premises and cleaning of the kitchen hood is recommended at least once a quarter. All components of the hood should be washed, including the pipe leading to the air duct. Particular attention should be paid to keeping the grill of the cooker hood clean: the best option will wash this removable part at least once a month.

Some modern hoods equipped with disposable removable filters: these parts can be simply replaced with new ones after the old ones get dirty. In most of the old modifications, this possibility is not provided, therefore, washing the grate is an inevitable necessity. An excellent option would be to regularly wash the grid in the dishwasher: this will save time and energy and bring the desired result.

Today's stoves do not smoke, but cooking still generates not only mouth-watering odors, but suspended particles of fat hover over pans and pots, which, without a hood, would settle on all surrounding objects. In addition to fat, ubiquitous dust reigns in the air of any kitchen.

All of the above is successfully absorbed by the cooker hood, leaving our kitchen clean. Until one day you discover that now everything inside her is overgrown with a terrible gray-yellow coating of grease and dust, and she already needs cleaning herself.

You should not postpone this work indefinitely - the more dirt, the worse the hood copes with its duties.

Cleaning the hood from grease should start with the power off of the device. Read the instructions for use, they usually indicate detergents and cleaning agents that should not be applied to your model.

The first thing to clean is the grill from the kitchen hood, which traps fat particles. It is called the "grease filter".

First you need to take it out of the box. Either it is fastened with snaps, or on swivel mechanism... There should be no problems, since the manufacturer has provided for regular removal and cleaning.

How to wash light dirt on the hood

If the grate is covered with a yellow coating and there is not too much of it, then you are dealing with almost pure grease, which can be easily dealt with by the available dishwashing detergents - soap and rub with a brush to get to every corner of the net. Repeat until the metal is at its original color.

Wash the grate from the hood dishwasher safe: put the filter vertically and wash it, it is possible even at the maximum temperature, because your filter has not survived so much over the stove. If you are worried about plastic, lower the temperature.

You can use steam to remove grease from the cooker hood filter. Try cleaning the filter with a steamer - if not the entire filter, then the most problematic areas.

How to clean the mesh from the hood from medium pollution

Either long manual labor will help here, or you can speed up the process if you use folk remedies for cases like this.

Baking soda or soda ash + soap can do all the work for you. Here's what you need:

  • soda ash;
  • Laundry soap marked on the side 72%;
  • soap grater.

Clean the hood in the kitchen you can only with soda, for this:

  1. Heat water in a container and dissolve soda in it - from two tablespoons to a whole pack, here both the volume of the dishes and the amount of dirt matter.
  2. Put a wire rack in boiling water and simmer for 10 minutes to half an hour.
  3. Remember to stir the liquid.
  4. After boiling, rinse the wire rack with hot water.

After half an hour, either you have a clean grid, or you need to continue:

  1. Grate a bar of laundry soap or use a ready-made liquid soap.
  2. Place the soap and up to 5 tablespoons of soda ash in a bowl of hot water.
  3. Boil the wire rack in the solution for the same 10-30 minutes.
  4. Rinse off any remaining soap and baking soda.

Clean the grill (mesh) from the hood from fat you can use ammonia :

  1. Make a 25% solution (3 parts water and 1 part ammonia) and immerse the mesh in it.
  2. After half an hour soaking, you can start cleaning with a regular brush.

The method is extremely odorous and should be used with a respirator and free air flow.

For medium pollution, these funds are sufficient, but before moving on to stronger ones, it is worth explaining that alkalis are used to fight fat - from the weakest alkaline solutions (tea soda) to caustic soda solution.

Even laundry soap contains remnants of the latter. Alkali hydrolyzes fat, which is an organic acid.

In practice, it looks like its dissolution, because as a result of the reaction, glycerin and soap are obtained.

How can you clean the grill from the hood in case of heavy dirt

If the grill has not been cleaned for a long time, you need to either repeat the techniques described above several times, or take a chance and try stronger products.

What you choose does not play a special role: will it be an expensive product that says that it is intended for cleaning ovens and stoves, or it will be a plumbing "Mole", or you will buy caustic soda by weight - the main substance there will still be sodium hydroxide. The choice is yours.

Grease filters are often made of aluminum. Both he and his oxide interact with sodium hydroxide. In order to clean the grease filter in the hood, do not use caustic alkali.

Those who do decide to do this will need rubber gloves and a plastic bowl of the right size (acids and alkalis do not interact with most types of plastic, you can check).

If you take caustic soda, then increased precautions- ventilated room, eye protection with glasses, long sleeves, an apron, if any - a respirator. Glassware and stainless steel are suitable for diluting caustic soda. The concentration of the solution is up to 20 percent (or less is suitable).

Do not pour water over the baking soda, just the opposite: pour the baking soda into the water. Do not breathe over container - vapors can cause chemical burns. Do not neglect safety, even if you use a ready-made product.

  1. Place the wire rack in a caustic solution.
  2. Wait for cleansing and remove with gloves.
  3. Rinse under running water.
  4. Pour the solution down the drain.

The means listed above cannot help but help, so we will assume that we have completed the first task of cleaning the hood in the kitchen. The next stage is optional - it is for those who have a carbon filter installed.

Cooker hood carbon filter

It is installed in two cases: either to return the purified air to the room - in recirculation hoods, or to increase the service life of the hood, which has an outlet to the ventilation shaft. In the latter case, it protects the motor. Whatever the purpose, such a filter is disposable... It cannot be cleaned like the previous one.

The activated carbon inside the filter cassette is an excellent absorbent, but it also has a limit of possibilities, after reaching which the filter turns into an obstacle for air.

Usually the manufacturer indicates the replacement period, but you should focus not only on what is written: intensive use of the stove reduces the warranty period. If it is recommended to change it every 3-4 months, you can time a complete cleaning of the hood to coincide with the change.

It is easy to remove the charcoal filter from the hood: it is installed in the slot provided for it. Pull it out and put in a new cassette.

Basically, you can disassemble the used filter, remove the contents from it and fill in fresh granular charcoal instead. If you think that the game is worth the candle.

The cost of a new filter varies from 500 rubles to several thousand - depending on the company, model and service life. It is not necessary to buy a branded one, there are inexpensive universal ones that fit most models.

Disadvantage self replacement the cartridge will have to be established empirically: periodic checks. (Proprietary filters have an indicator showing how much they are clogged.)

There is one trick that extends the life of any activated carbon filter: Get into the habit of not switching off the cooker hood immediately after switching off the cooker. Let it work for another 5-10 minutes. The moisture absorbed by the coal during this time will have time to evaporate. And dry coal does not cake, does not form a mass impermeable to air.

How to remove grease from the outside of your cooker hood

As a rule, cleaning the hood in the kitchen can be done without much difficulty. It is enough to dilute any detergent in warm water and wash the surface of the hood with a sponge or napkin.

Although there are some nuances here. The body can be plastic or metal. If the latter is chrome plated, then you will have to make some effort to ensure that after drying there are no stripes on the metal. This is done like this: you need to complete the washing of the case with horizontal movements. For stainless steel, there are commercially available cleaning and anti-damage agents.

Abrasives and hard brushes are not good help when cleaning smooth surfaces of the case. Products containing chlorine are also undesirable.

Unfortunately, the hood control buttons also get dirty. They should be wiped with a wrung out soapy cloth, and dirt from the recesses can be cleaned out with an old toothbrush. The main thing is to make sure that no water gets inside. Finally, wipe everything dry.

In conclusion, it should be said about prevention. It is necessary to do the hood regularly, but you have to choose the frequency of cleaning yourself: from 2 to 4 months.

  • soap;
  • vinegar;

Many housewives agree that laundry soap is one of the better ways how to remove grease from the grill of the cooker hood. Moreover, the content of fatty acids in such soap should be at least 72%(this figure is usually written directly on the bar).

You need to prepare the cleaning solution in this way:

  1. 0.5 bar of soap is rubbed on a grater;
  2. The resulting shavings are dissolved in 2.5 liters of hot water;
  3. Now, either soak the mesh and filter in the liquid, or thoroughly moisten the problem areas;
  4. After 10-15 minutes, the surfaces should be cleaned of grease residues with a cloth or metal sponge.

How to use lemon to remove fat from a cooker hood

An irreplaceable remedy - lemon, or rather its juice, will help to remove fresh fat from the hood. To do this, it is enough to carefully rub all the greasy surfaces of the hood with its pulp. They are left in this form for 10 minutes. After - everything is erased with a regular napkin. Such a remedy does not always help the first time. Therefore, it must be borne in mind that you will have to repeat the procedure a couple more times before the hood is finally cleaned.

Quite a difficult question than how to wash a kitchen hood from fat, which is already stale. For this you can use acid. The most affordable for us is vinegar. It can be used both in concentrated, undiluted form, and in the form of a weaker aqueous solution.

It is enough to dilute 2 parts of acetic acid in 1 part of water. With this solution, all the necessary surfaces of the hood are wiped and left for 12-15 minutes. After this time has elapsed with a sponge and clean water all residues of contamination are removed.

IMPORTANT! Because the product involves the use of concentrated acetic acid, it is recommended to work only with gloves. They need to be thick. The product must not come into contact with the skin or eyes!

A heavily soiled hood can be removed from greasy stains with regular baking soda. For such folk recipe required:

  • Pour a large pot of water;
  • Add a little crushed laundry soap to it;
  • Pour a handful of baking soda;
  • To mix everything;
  • Dirty parts of the hood are dipped into this tool;
  • The pan is placed on the stove;
  • Everything is boiled for 20 minutes;
  • After that, the fire is turned off, and the dirty parts of the hood are left in the solution;
  • Next, the grate just needs to be rinsed in hot clean water.

The result is crystal shine and cleanness of the hood!

ADVICE! If the saucepan is not large enough to fit the wire rack completely, you can clean first one side and then the other by turning it over.

Now you need to gently pour warm water on top. After 10 minutes, when the grate is already soaked, the fat begins to escape, the solution is drained, and the filter is rinsed with warm running water.

ATTENTION! Pipe cleaner is a harsh chemical. It should be used no more than once a year. Otherwise, the lattice made of metal will gradually begin to deteriorate.

Today in stores you can find a wide variety of products that are designed specifically to combat old greasy dirt on the hood. It is enough to buy one of them (domestic or foreign production) and use it.

For this, the grate, on which the fat accumulates, must be placed in a large container. From above, its surface is poured with a special cleaning agent. Very effective recipe How to clean a kitchen hood filter from grease is presented in this video:

All hoods, regardless of design, filtration type and power, need periodic maintenance. Carbon deposits and fat particles accumulate on the catching grid and the body itself, discrediting the image of a tidy hostess and reducing the functionality of the device. A clogged grill simply ceases to protect the room from smoke and odors, and if plaque penetrates inside, the device may burn out altogether. Therefore, we will consider how to clean the hood from fat in the kitchen, so that you can choose the right "recipe for cleanliness" for your kitchen.

If you notice that the hood has begun to cope worse with its duties as a kitchen assistant, and sticky streaks of all shades of yellow have formed on the grease trap, it is time for cleaning. To do this, you need to disassemble the device in order to remove accumulations of dirt from all possible elements, not only from the outside, but also from the inside.

Appliance maintenance is an easy task with modern cleaning agents

How to remove fat from a hood in the kitchen - a step-by-step work plan:

  1. Disconnect the device from the mains.
  2. Remove grease grills. Usually they are attached to simple clips that can be simply snapped off, but in some models it may be necessary to additionally dismantle the decorative strip.
  3. Inspect and, if necessary, replace the internal filters if you have a recirculation hood installed. If an air duct is connected to the device, you can dismantle the corrugation for washing or at least clean its accessible areas.
  4. Wash the housing and all visible internal elements from accumulated dirt.
  5. Soak the nets in warm soapy water and scrub them with a hard sponge.
  6. Wait until all parts are completely dry, then reassemble the device in the reverse order and check its functionality.

Grease filters before and after cleaning

Important! To disassemble the device correctly, do not be too lazy to study the instructions. It will help you navigate the elements that can be removed - it will be much easier to clean the hood from the fat from the inside. Also, the instructions usually indicate agents and solutions that cannot be used, so as not to damage the mechanisms or the protective coating of the device.

How to wash the grease mesh with improvised means

Thanks to their intricate weaving, mesh traps do an excellent job of mechanically cleaning the air from suspended fat particles, protecting the internal parts of the device from the formation of oil deposits. But for the same reason, these parts are considered the most difficult elements for cleaning, forcing more than one housewife to sigh sadly at the sight of yellowed filters. Of course, like any fat, carbon build-up can be removed with soap and mechanical friction. But there are other ways to remove grease from your cooker hood using inexpensive and affordable products that you will surely find in your home.

Laundry soap does an excellent job of removing grease on the meshes

Advice! If you decide to stick to the "soapy" method, use regular laundry soap of 72%, the bar of which is easily crushed with a coarse grater. After an hour of soaking in a hot solution, light dirt will be washed off without much difficulty.

Vinegar and lemon

An ordinary lemon will be a good helper in removing fat deposits. To do this, cut the citrus into thick circles and rub all greasy surfaces with them. After 10-15 minutes of exposure to acid, it will be much easier to remove fat from the hood in the kitchen. If there is no lemon in the house, it will be completely replaced by a solution of citric acid in the proportion of 2 tbsp. spoons for 1 liter of hot water. In this liquid, you need to soak the nets and leave for half an hour.

Acetic acid works well even for stubborn fat deposits. One of the simplest ways to clean the hood grate is to pour the removed nets with undiluted vinegar, leave for a quarter of an hour, and then rinse in warm water. Undissolved plaque residues can be rubbed with a scraper or the hard side of a cleaning sponge - they are easily separated after contact with acid.

Do not confuse acetic acid with table vinegar - the latter may not cope with fat deposits on the nets.

Important! Cleaning the hood from fat with vinegar should be carried out with rubber gloves. However, protection will be appropriate for any cleaning method, because even ordinary soda or soap can dry out the skin and cause irritation and eczema.

Baking soda

Another inexpensive and very effective way from the arsenal of thrifty housewives is to boil the grates in a soda solution.

How to clean the mesh of the hood from fat with baking soda:

  1. Find a roomy container (pot, bucket, basin) with a diameter of at least the width of the filter nets.
  2. Fill it 2/3 full with water and turn it on gas.
  3. When the water boils, remove the heat to a minimum, then gradually add soda powder to the container at the rate of 1 cup per 5-6 liters of liquid. Just be careful, because hot liquid can boil a lot!
  4. Dip the nets into a boiling solution and leave to "simmer" for 15-20 minutes, until carbon deposits begin to move away from the metal.
  5. Then remove the filters from the container, wash with a hard sponge with dish soap and rinse in warm water.

Soda solution is an affordable and effective way to simply cleanse fatty contaminants

Advice! It is not worth boiling the grates for a long time; in case of severe contamination, it is better to drain the yellowed water with the dissolved fat and repeat the procedure in a new solution.

How to clean the mesh from the hood if there is no large container for boiling or soaking in the house? There is a way for such a case: put the grates in the sink or bathtub, moisten with warm water, cover well with soda and pour with ordinary table vinegar. As a result of the reaction of acid with alkali, a sizzling foam is formed, which removes fat deposits well. If from the first time not all the dirt has "come off", you can rinse the nets with warm water and repeat the cleaning process.

First aid kit assistant - ammonia

If the grease filters are very greasy and neither soda nor soap solution has helped to cope with the stubborn deposits, you can try a product based on ammonia. But we warn you that the cleaning process will be accompanied by a very unpleasant pungent odor!

Step by step recipe:

  1. Boil water in a large container.
  2. Pour in ammonia at the rate of 100 ml per 5 liters of liquid.
  3. Drop the nets into hot water and keep on minimum heat for at least an hour (with heavy dirt, the time can be doubled).
  4. Thoroughly rinse the filters with running warm water, removing the remaining dirt with a hard sponge.
  5. Wipe dry with napkins or towel.

Important! Before cleaning the hoods, open a window in the kitchen and put on a mask or respirator - ammonia fumes can burn mucous tissues and lead to dizziness.

Special means and methods

In the household chemicals store there are a lot of cleaning products that will quickly solve the problem of how to clean the hood, even with complex dirt. But do not rush to use aggressive substances, perhaps, you can clean the most complex elements with the help of other technological devices.

Car wash and steam cleaning

The least time consuming cleaning method is to entrust the "dirty work" to the dishwasher. This kitchen assistant copes well with common dirt, and if you first boil the nets in soda or soap solution, then even with a multi-layer old coating.

Happy owners of a fashionable steam cleaner can use it not only to wash the hood itself, but also to clean the accessible parts of the duct. To do this, you need to use a special nozzle with a narrow brush, pour water into the container and prepare a separate container with soapy water. It remains to start the steam cleaner and use it to treat all contaminated surfaces, periodically wetting the brush.

The steam cleaner not only removes grease from the hood, but also disinfects the surface

Important! Dishwashing liquid and soap solution must not be poured into the appliance itself!

Chemicals

If you are looking for a way to clean up grease in the hood among household supplies, whiteness, formic acid-based cleaners or a concentrated dishwashing gel will do. They need to fill the nets, wait for the fatty deposits to dissolve, and then rinse the metal thoroughly with water "until it squeaks". You can use a short, hard bristle brush to clean clogged cells.

To help housewives, manufacturers of household chemicals have also developed special foaming agents that penetrate well into the nets to dissolve carbon deposits and multilayer accumulations of dirt. This can be a cleaner for the stove, oven, or specifically for the hood. To use the solution efficiently and economically, you can fold the traps on top of each other in a wide basin or baking sheet and treat with a foaming agent (the permissible exposure time should be indicated in the instructions). In case of heavy dirt, rinse the nets with warm water to wash off the corroded layers of dirt, then refill with the solution.

Chemicals form copious foam that perfectly cleans even fine mesh filters

Some experimenters recommend gels or granular powder for cleaning drain pipes to deal with old plaque, filling it with greasy nets and pouring water. But keep in mind, although these funds help well, they are unsafe for health, because harmful vapors are released during the reaction.

On a note! Chemicals can be alkali or acid based. Alkaline agents are more effective in terms of their effect on fatty plaque.

In any case, it is necessary to carry out chemical "experiments" with gloves, and carefully monitor that drops of the solution do not get into the eyes or on unprotected areas of the skin. A respirator or at least a medical mask will not be superfluous. It is better to leave the window in the kitchen open to ensure a constant flow of fresh air, and after work arrange through ventilation throughout the apartment.

Important! Some aggressive chemicals cannot be used on aluminum meshes - they can oxidize and darken.

Features of filter care

The standard cleaner for most appliances is a perforated mesh made of aluminum or stainless steel. It is designed for reusable use, and we have already sorted out in detail how and how to clean the grill of the hood from fat. But there are also models that are additionally equipped with disposable carbon cassettes. Usually, these are devices that do not need to be connected to the ventilation system and work on the principle of air recirculation. The filters in them should be looked for immediately after the catchers.

How to remove grease and replace the charcoal filter of the hood

A round or rectangular cassette body is most often made of plastic, the adsorbent is contained in the form of granules or conventional activated carbon powder. Such filters cannot be washed, let alone boiled, otherwise the filler will lose its properties. To renew a worn out cassette, just open it, insert a new insert and close the latch. The average life of coal cleaners is 3 months, but with intensive and daily use of the hood, it is recommended to replace it more often.

On a note! If you leave the hood to run for a few more minutes after the cooking process, the air will dry out the activated carbon granules and extend the life of the filter.

Cleaning the outside of the case

In addition to "internal" work, do not forget about caring for the hood itself, especially if the kitchen is not equipped with a built-in appliance, most of which is hidden in the furniture, but a decorative dome. Dust, droplets of moisture and fat are collected on its vast surface into a sticky substance, which is not so difficult to wash as it is inconvenient, because the work will have to be done while standing on a chair or stool.

How to clean the cooker hood without dismantling:

  1. Moisten the surface of the case with warm water.
  2. Prepare a solution of 1 tbsp. tablespoons of dish gel, dissolved in a glass of water and apply it to the hood, wringing out a rag so that the liquid does not drip onto the floor and stove.
  3. Rub the hard side of the sponge over the body and let sit for a few minutes.
  4. For stubborn stains, you can use lemon wedges, scouring powder, or foaming products made for kitchen surfaces.
  5. After removing plaque, wash the housing well, changing the water frequently.
  6. Wipe dry with a clean cloth.

A soft, dry cloth will help remove streaks and make the hood shine

Advice! Remove old dirt from kitchen appliances you can use a plastic scraper, but you should not use a standard metal one - you can damage the protective coating of the device.

Cleaning frequency

Now you know how to clean the cooker hood from grease and other contaminants, but how often should this procedure be carried out? The answer is simple - it all depends on the workload of the device. In professional kitchens, the grilles of the appliance are washed every day, at home such feats are not required - even with regular cooking, cleaning once a month is quite enough. But if you have a dishwasher, you can trust her with this job at least every week.

Advice! The color of the catcher grids will tell you about the need for cleaning. If yellow spots appear on them - it's time to choose how to wash the fat from the hood

Based on my experience, I'll show you how to quickly clean the grate from your kitchen hood so that it literally shines.

It is not so easy to wash the hood: grease and dirt are firmly deposited on the grate, which cannot be removed with a regular damp cloth. However, my perfectionism and sense of duty as a clean housewife does not allow me to close my eyes to these pollution, so I was able to find effective ways that allow you to keep the cooker hood perfectly clean.

These effective tools will surely come in handy for every housewife, so I want to tell you about them.

Boiling water and soda

If the grate from the hood is very dirty, I usually deal with this problem by pouring water into a large pot, adding a little laundry soap and a handful of baking soda, and stirring everything. Then I lower the grate from the hood there and put the pan on the hot stove.

Boil the grate for 10-20 minutes, after which I leave it to soak in this solution for a while. When all the fat dissolves, I rinse the grate with hot water and enjoy its crystal shine.

If the grate does not completely fit into the pan, you can boil in parts: that is, first one side, and then the other. Until the whole grill is as good as new.

Ammonia

If the baking soda does not cope with the fat, you can additionally use ammonia.

Open a kitchen window and put on a respirator to prevent the strong smell of ammonia from burning your upper respiratory tract. Then add 1∕2 cups of ammonia to 3.5 liters of water, heat the solution and lower the grate into it for several hours. Then rinse it with warm water.

Dishwasher

I recently became the proud owner of a dishwasher and the first thing I did was test it on heavily soiled surfaces. To my great joy, she did an excellent job of clearing the grill from the hood.

I put the grease grid in the machine at the lowest temperature and added some dishwashing detergent. The technique did a great job with grease and dirt. So, if you have this wonderful device, feel free to send the grate there.

Drain pipe cleaner

If the grill from the hood is in disrepair, neither water with soda and ammonia, nor the dishwasher can cope with the dirt of many years ago. Then you will have to resort to more aggressive means.

Place the grate in a stainless steel vessel larger than itself, sprinkle with granular pipe cleaner and gently pour a little warm water... Wait 5-10 minutes for the grate to soak, then flush the liquid down the toilet and rinse the grate with a stream of warm water.

Read the instructions for use of the pipe cleaner carefully. It can harm some surfaces and skin, so all manipulations should be done with rubber gloves. In addition, this remedy is quite aggressive, so it is not recommended to use it more than once a year. Otherwise, the lattice metal will begin to collapse.
