Chemicals from ticks in the garden. Liquid professional preparations and poisons for treatment against ticks on the territory of the garden plot

Answers to questions from gardeners

Among the many types of ticks that can get on country cottage area, there are several of those whose bite can turn into a dangerous disease for a person, including encephalitis, borreliosis, typhoid. First of all, this applies to ticks of the genus "Dermacentor" and, whose habitat covers almost the entire territory of Russia.

Prevention of the appearance of ticks on the site

  • they love tall grass, they practically do not crawl out onto bare areas of the soil, rocky surfaces are especially unpleasant for them;
  • they prefer shaded places, they can hardly stand direct sunlight, and a long stay in the sun is completely destructive for them;
  • move slowly, hunt most often with the help of expectant tactics - they crawl onto blades of grass (less often on the lower branches of bushes and trees), and wait for the victim to pass by in order to cling to it;
  • they hunt with the help of their sense of smell and capture body heat, therefore they accumulate where a person is most often - along the paths, near the water tank, benches and porches of country houses;
  • the most active and numerous in spring and autumn, the probability of being bitten by them at the height of summer is lower (but still remains!);
  • can enter the area with animals and birds, crawl from adjacent forest and meadow areas, get from neighboring areas, especially if they are overgrown with grass.

To create an effective barrier on the path of ticks to the summer cottage, you need to regularly mow the grass around its perimeter (at least a meter wide), remove excess vegetation and weeds inside the territory, and prevent the accumulation of a layer of foliage and tops. Dense vegetation in the immediate vicinity of benches and gazebos, even if these are berry bushes, should also be removed. Covering the cleared areas with rubble or wood chips will prevent the grass from growing again.

If the site has country house and outbuildings, near their walls it is useful to make blind areas (best of all from concrete). It is also undesirable for the branches of any bushes to touch the walls, along which ticks can get inside the buildings. It is better to saw off such branches or collect them in bunches, deflecting them from the walls.

The fence will partly save stray and wild animals from getting to the site. But he, of course, does not eliminate the need to regularly carry out deratization (to destroy rats and mice), if rodents have been seen here. It is also helpful to use bird repellents.

We must not forget about farm animals, if there are any at the dacha. For all types of livestock and poultry, there are special preparations against ticks. If pets are brought to the dacha, they also need to be treated with anti-mite agents and their fur is regularly examined.

Scare away

The fight against ticks with folk remedies involves primarily the use of aromatic plants. Some smells can scare away ticks from gardens and vegetable gardens, and if there are not so many insects on the site, drive them away. Mites do not like plants such as:

  • mint;
  • marigold;
  • pyrethrum (Persian, Dalmatian chamomile);
  • sage;
  • tansy;
  • thyme;
  • Carnation;
  • pink geranium;
  • rosemary;
  • lavender;
  • garlic.

By evenly distributing the rows of these crops on the site, it will turn out to build good protection... You can use infusions and essential oils of the listed plants, as well as eucalyptus and palmarosa oils, making water emulsions from them (4-5 drops per glass) and periodically spraying them over the area.

A concentrate based on geranium and palmarose oils is especially effective. To cook it, you need to take 2 tbsp. l. base oil (for example, almond), add 10-25 drops of one or another oil to it - the mixture is ready. It can be applied to clothes and shoes, sprayed with it, treat animals and the place where they sleep.

Slowly leading through the rows of plants with the wrapped part of the stick, you can collect a very a large number of ticks, and if this procedure is carried out regularly, the pest population on the site will noticeably decrease.

To date, there are no absolutely safe anti-mite preparations for the treatment of gardens and vegetable gardens. When using any of them, you must strictly follow the instructions on the package and observe personal safety measures. The dosage of funds should not be exceeded, and the subsequently harvested crop must be thoroughly washed.

To kill ticks, insecticides, acaricides and insectoacaricides are used based on:

  • DDT (common name - dust);
  • organophosphorus compounds;
  • pyrethroids.

DDT is effective, but very toxic, tends to accumulate in the soil. Organophosphorus compounds are toxic, can cause poisoning if they come into contact with the skin, but upon contact with soil and air, they quickly decompose into low-hazard elements. Pyrethroids are the least dangerous and decompose quickly after treatment of the site. It is preferable to use funds based on them.

Popular chemicals:

  • Sipaz is super. The active ingredient is cypermethrin (pyrethroid). It does not have a pronounced odor, the residual effect lasts up to one and a half months. Kills ticks of the genus Ixodidae and Dermacentor. They can also poison mosquitoes, bedbugs, fleas, flies, cockroaches.

  • Tsifox. Another drug based on cypermethrin. Has a specific smell, is economically consumed. Effective against ticks of all genera, including scabies, destroys ants, fleas, flies and other insects. The action lasts up to 3 months.

  • Titanium. Highly effective remedy based on propiconazole (pesticide, fungicide), average price, low consumption - 100 ml per 1 ha. It relieves crops from ticks and fungal diseases, treats many plant diseases.
  • Force site. Kills ticks of the genus Ixodes, Dermacentor and Haemophysalis. The composition includes Fenthion (organothiophosphate insecticide and acaricide), a substance of little danger to humans. The smell is strong, but quickly disappears.

  • Acaritox. Kills, gives protection to crops from them up to 1.5 months. The composition contains a low-hazard substance - alphacypermethrin.

Liquid chemicals are sprayed with a hand held sprayer or garden sprayer. When working, you must use protective goggles, a respirator, overalls and gloves.

Pets, children, food must be removed from the processing area. If the site has wells with drinking water, in no case should pesticides get into them. Beekeepers and owners of artificial ponds need to remember that many anti-mite drugs are deadly for bees and fish.

Chemical methods for killing ticks can be combined with all of the above methods, and the listed preventive measures can be used to consolidate the effect.

If you are faced with the problem of the appearance of ticks on the site, you need to start taking measures to destroy these dangerous arachnids as soon as possible. Now there are many different agents - acaricides. These drugs effectively fight ticks, allowing you to get rid of them for a long time.

Many specialized companies offer their services for this business, but you can also process the site yourself. In this article, we will find out what you need to know for this, and which drugs should be used.

How to treat the area from ticks yourself?

All drugs can be divided into three main groups:

  • Organophosphates - they perfectly destroy ticks in large areas, disintegrate rather quickly in the soil, but you need to be careful when using them, since they can be dangerous for mucous membranes and skin.
  • Pyrethrin preparations are the safest option. Pyrethrin is a substance found in some varieties of chamomile. It does not harm the soil, but it is not as intense as other types of agents.
  • DDT is the most harsh drugs that, although they can very effectively treat a summer cottage from ticks, dissolve very slowly in the soil, thereby harming your site.

Among the most effective and popular drugs are the following:

  • Sipaz is super. This preparation is almost odorless, leaves no marks on the surface, and also has excellent insecticidal activity. Expenditure on square meter is about 50-100ml.
  • Tsifox. Great for gardening. This drug is available as a concentrated emulsion. The area is protected from ticks for 1.5 months. Consumption: half a liter per hectare.
  • Ram. The remedy has a powerful effect on the forest mite. Consumption of the preparation: 100 ml per hectare. Before use, the product must be diluted at the rate of 1 mm per liter of water.

Fighting ticks at their summer cottage: processing rules

If you decide to do all the work yourself, you need to remember some rules in order to get the desired effect and harm yourself, other people and animals on the site:

  • Treat the area only in protective clothing: prepare a gown, cover your head, use a respirator and rubber gloves. Avoid getting drugs on the body.
  • Processing will be effective only if you carry it out in dry weather without wind. Also check the weather forecast and make sure there is no rain in the next 3 days.
  • If vegetables and fruits grow on the site, you need to think in advance about the time of the procedure. Between processing and harvesting, at least 1.5 months must pass.
  • If you have a small area, you can use a hand held garden sprayer to kill the mites. For large areas, it is better to use a motorized one.
  • Some places on the site deserve particularly careful treatment. These are the recreation areas and the perimeter of the garden paths - places where you often visit and move around, so they should be safe. You also need to process thickets of shrubs and grasses, since it is these places that usually become the habitat of ticks.
  • If you have pets, read the instructions for the selected drug especially carefully. The standard rule is the following: the animal can be admitted to the treated area only after the preparation is completely dry. But this point may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
  • It is best to kill ticks on the site in the spring, when they are just starting to become active. The second treatment is usually carried out in late August - early September.
  • If there is a pond with inhabitants on the site, do not allow the drug to get into, as this can cause fish poisoning.

Do not forget that before starting treatment, you need to carefully study the instructions for the product. Do not violate the rules of application and dosage, and you can quickly get rid of ticks in the area without harming people, animals and nature.

When should the procedure be performed? How many times a season will you have to get rid of tiny pests? And why are ticks in abundance represented in the Russian open spaces generally dangerous?

When is it time to sound the alarm?

Treatment for ticks is an extreme measure, but absolutely necessary, and it is used not only in cases where the bite has already occurred, and the inhabitants of suburban estates require medical attention. It is necessary to carry out activities, starting from April to October, three times during the season, taking into account the peak of pest activity in May, July and September. Underestimate the danger living in middle lane Russia, in terms of the risk of getting a tick bite, is not worth it. These microscopic pests can really bring serious health problems, not only to humans, but also to their pets. Pests spread piroplasmosis, which is deadly for dogs.

How to detect a pest in the country?

Before the treatment of the area from ticks is started, it is worth taking care of the detection of insects. Even the most inveterate skeptics can easily detect the presence of a pest if they conduct a simple test, which requires taking a few simple steps:

  • find a long (at least 1 m) stick-pole;
  • fix a piece of waffle (cotton) fabric or cloth on it white like a flag;
  • lower homemade trap on the grass and drag it all over the site in the morning.

It is recommended to carry out diagnostics after the dew has disappeared - so the search results will be more effective. Upon completion of the walk, it will be enough to examine the surface of the matter for the detection of pests. Of course, this kind of diagnosis is difficult to consider as a control measure. Insects collected by hand are destroyed, but it is unlikely that it will be possible to detect absolutely all pests on the site only within the framework of mechanical action. This means that the risks of getting fatal dangerous bite will remain.

Available prevention tools

In order for the treatment for ticks to give really decent results, it is worth taking care of preventive measures from the very beginning, which will allow you to cope with the problem much faster and more efficiently.

Use natural insecticides. Caucasian chamomile flowers can be considered a universal deterrent against most creeping blood-sucking pests. The substance they contain, pyrethrum, is one of the most effective components of natural garden remedies. Pyretoid insecticides are widely available for sale, but a natural "shield" on the site will not be superfluous.

Among other demanded preventive measures, one can note the banal care of the territory of the land allotment. Mowing lawns and mowing grass, removing dead leaves and fruits, destroying rotten stumps. All of these are measures that every gardener who cares about the health and safety of loved ones is quite capable of taking.

Chemical treatment

In addition to pyretoids, which are relatively safe for humans and animals, there are also groups of drugs that require additional attention. Organophosphate-based products containing finethion fall into this category. It is in the means of "Byteks", "Force-site".

Chemical exposure rules

If the treatment for ticks is carried out independently, you should pay attention to general recommendations for its implementation. In particular, it follows:

  • be sure to use overalls - when working with pesticides, gloves, a respirator, a protective gown or suit, closed shoes are needed;
  • for work, it is recommended to choose dry, windless days, allowing the appearance of insects on the surface;
  • rainy periods of the year are not the best solution for anti-acaricidal spraying, rain will wash away traces of the drug and prevent it from acting with maximum efficiency;
  • while waiting for the harvest, it is worth remembering that the last spraying should be carried out at least 1.5 months before harvesting;
  • the height of the spraying of the drug from the soil surface is no more than 1.5 m, contrary to the common misconception, the ticks simply do not get higher;
  • when spraying, it is necessary to carefully isolate water sources in the area, it is better to cover open reservoirs with a film.

Will folk recipes help?

Application folk remedies and methods for the destruction of insects are quite widely used by summer residents. Most often, the most simple recipes: from the mechanical collection of pests using the same towels - twice a day, after morning and before evening dew, to planting and cultivation of plants, natural enemies of the insect. These traditionally include tansy and wormwood with a pronounced pungent aroma. Resting areas can be protected by repelling pests with tea tree oil. It is applied to surfaces, used as an impregnation for a tent or awning.

What else can be opposed to the invasion of insects? As a natural preparation for spraying, summer residents recommend garlic cloves or arrows. They are crushed and soaked in water throughout the day, the finished concentrate is diluted and used for its intended purpose. In a similar way, you can prepare wormwood tinctures, which are good against pests in the garden and garden and are completely safe for humans.

Professional processing: methods and means

What you need to know about a professional anti-acaricidal treatment? First of all, it should be borne in mind that it is always carried out using chemicals with a minimum hazard class for humans, animals and the environment... Specialists of the "site" service use for these purposes chemicals of a high degree of activity, capable of destroying the entire population of pests in just one treatment. The fog machines used convert the insecticide into a cloud of water dust that settles on surfaces and penetrates into the most difficult to reach places.

Choosing professional treatment against ticks, the owners of summer cottages, gardens and vegetable gardens get the opportunity to protect their property for a long time from a possible invasion of dangerous pests. Carrying out disinsection in this case allows you to fully guarantee the achievement of the desired result - without risks to health and future harvest.

Ticks are arachnids that are very common in Central Russia. Their habitat can be a forest, meadow, lakeside, park, and of course a summer cottage. What are these pests dangerous and how to protect the backyard from them? Let's try to answer this question.

Arachnids are carriers of diseases dangerous to humans:

  • tick-borne typhus;
  • fever;
  • tularemia;
  • Lyme disease;
  • encephalitis

But not every tick species is a disease spreading agent. Only 7 groups of these animals are dangerous for people. The most aggressive: encephalitic, subcutaneous, scabies, argasic, ixodic.

The rest of the arachnids, getting on human skin, lead only to itching and irritation.

There are mites that devour certain vegetables and fruits: apple, plum, nut, grape, pear, lime. As a rule, they settle under leaves, on flowers and fruits. Arachnids suck out all useful substances from crops, which is why withering occurs, a decrease in yield, and then the death of the plant organism.

Attention: if a tick bite is found, an urgent need to consult a doctor so as not to catch a disease.

How to find ticks in the country?

You can check the area for pests yourself without calling professionals. To do this, the gardener needs a stick made of wood about 1 m long and a white waffle cloth with parameters 1 m / 1 m.Its 2 ends are tied to a stick so that it looks like a flag.

Advice: To effectively lure pests, you can treat the material with the sweat of an animal or person.

A stick with a cloth is dragged over the grass or bare ground if the check is carried out in early spring. The site is examined when the morning dew melts. The material should not curl. It is necessary to walk through the cottage several times and carry it with a cloth from both sides.

The detected arachnids are carefully removed from the material with tweezers and placed in an airtight container. The ticks remaining in the country should be immediately destroyed.

Safety measures when processing the site

Before checking, you need to think about your own protection: cover the whole body with clothes, spray a special spray on open areas, put a hat on your hair. You need to carry out this procedure in light things. Also, do not use food containers for diluting chemicals, and after processing, you need to drink activated carbon.

How and how to treat the area from the tick

Anti-mite procedures are called pest control, the corresponding means are acaricides. Each preparation includes instructions that must be read before use. The dosage of the product must be observed.

You can purchase a spray agent in a store, online or through special services. The treatment is carried out with a spray bottle or spray.

The procedure is carried out in the absence of wind, so that toxic substances do not spread randomly. The sprayer is directed into the wind, then the spray does not fall into the person. The soil, garden and grass are cultivated in the early morning or late evening. You need to pay attention to weather conditions. Precipitation in the first three days of disinsection reduces the strength of the drugs, repeated manipulations are required after 7-10 days.

Attention: the garden must be cultivated before the leaves bloom. During this period, ticks are not active, the poison does not allow them to fully populate the site. When the trees are in bloom, ticks cannot be poisoned. Pesticides are harmful to bees and other pollinating insects.

Anti-mite procedures should not interfere with the owners of the dacha, therefore, the territory is treated 3 days before the trip to rest.

Quiet evening

Special smoke bomb against pests. It is easy to use without complicated preparation. The remedy is in tin can with peat. When festil is lit, the checker smolders, and acrid smoke enters the air. The device should be installed at a distance of 10 m from the site.

The active participation of a person is not required here, the tool itself processes the territory for 2 hours. Particles of the poisonous substance end up on grass, trees, bushes within a radius of 250 square meters. m. Its properties are preserved for about a month. The checker costs about 500 rubles.

This method is not safe, so not everyone chooses it.

Dobrokhim-Fos

A proven domestic drug. The concentrated product contains an active ingredient and an effect enhancer. 50 ml. a bottle is enough for etching pests per 100 sq. m. Insecticide costs about 390 rubles. In 1 l. 10 ml of cool water is dissolved. chemical. Its action lasts 15 days.

Ram

Broad-spectrum insectoacaricide. Its active ingredient is permethrin. The solution is prepared just before processing. In 1 l. cold water is diluted with 2.5 ml. substances. 100 l. the ready-made product is enough to kill ticks on 1 hectare of land. The effect occurs on the 51st day after the procedure. 50 ml bottle. costs about 380 rubles.

Medilis-Ziper

Professional concentrate dissolved in cold water... 5 ml. substances are diluted in 1 liter. liquids. The required amount of funds is determined according to the area of the site. 50 ml. the drug is destroyed by ticks on 10 acres. Gardens, lawns, yards are cultivated in early spring, late winter, or 3 days before a picnic is planned in nature. The effect lasts 40 days. The cost of a bottle of 500 ml. is 1200 rubles.

Traditional methods of eliminating ticks

  • to put a fence around the territory as a protection from stray animals;
  • set traps, traps and poisonous baits for rodents;
  • mow the grass, remove old branches, clear bushes by cutting off branches at a distance of 50 cm from the soil;
  • have picnics from time to time, as the smoke kills pests;
  • plant the entire perimeter of the site with odorous plants - calendula, marigolds, peppermint.

No less effective is the treatment of your body, and not the area with cologne, essential oils, repellents. Bloodsuckers are afraid of smells.

If the owner of the dacha himself is not able to cope with the arachnids, you will have to hire specialists. The services use modern equipment and strong insecticides.

Prevention against ticks

It is difficult to deal with arachnids, it is much easier to avoid their invasion.

There are plants that are natural insecticides: lavender, chamomile, mint, garlic, thyme. Where they grow, mites do not appear.
