Decorative niches in the corridor. We create and decorate a niche in the wall: tips and instructions

All about roses

Someone will consider the presence of a recess in the wall a disadvantage of a planning solution, but in fact this is a unique opportunity to make the interior more diverse and expressive. Niches in the wall, the design of which can be very diverse, for example, artificially arranged using drywall, allow you to hide the imperfections and unevenness of the walls and expand the functionality of the room.

The role of this decorative element and the methods of its design will be discussed in this article.

Most often, a small depression in the wall is used as an original shelf for storing useful little things, souvenirs or accessories. A decorative recess can be built in any free wall, its fragment or an empty partition.

For example, built-in shelves in the hallway will allow you to place keys, cosmetics or decorative fresh flowers. To feel the benevolent atmosphere of the house from the doorway.

Important! This is too obvious and expressive accent in the interior, so it should be used sparingly and logically, keeping a balance in terms of the number of such elements in one room and the proportion of their sizes. Otherwise, you can get a wall in the form of an endless rack, on which books and decorative trifles are buried under a layer of dust, and the room will be perceived as overloaded due to the large number of details.

Before proceeding with the installation, it is necessary to carefully consider the location of its location - the decorative depression should not be overlapped by furnishings. Therefore, you need to carefully consider where the furniture will be.

It is recommended to draw a scale plan of the room on a sheet of paper, and "arrange" furniture on it, move it if necessary, take into account the width of the aisles - and only then choose a place for the decorative structure.

Ornamental recesses can often be found on walls along staircases in private homes. Inside you can put a decorative vase, a figurine, fresh flowers or hang a picture.

In the dark, the built-in lighting will provide illumination of the steps for safe movement. The recess can be made in the form of a false window by inserting an image with a landscape into it and framing it with curtains.

The shape of the structure plays an important role in the visual perception of the configuration of the room. To make the walls look longer, a horizontal element is placed on it, in which you can hang a TV. Visually, the room will look higher if vertical recesses are made on the wall.

This decorative element can be made in the form of an arch, a triangle or any other shape, and with the help of multi-colored illumination and decoration of the inner wall of the recess, you can get a truly fabulous result. Depending on the characteristics of the room, the purpose of a niche can acquire different functionality, but in fact it is an additional element for a decor or storage system.

Instructions on how to decorate a niche in the wall are given below.

Backlight

The role of additional lighting is to create a special atmosphere in the room when the main light source, the chandelier, is turned off. But this is not always appropriate.

For example, in the working area of the kitchen, where bright lighting is already used, additional lighting will become inappropriate. Although decorative lighting can be arranged in the dining area.

In dark corridors and tiny hallways, devoid of natural light, lighting in a decorative wall arch will be an excellent solution.

Floor arches can be illuminated with wax candles or light simulated flames. And in the living room, this design is more often used to locate the TV and other equipment, equipping the recess with diode illumination.

Choice of color and decor

The design must be thought out in advance so that it is possible to decorate this element in a conceived way, because the recess in the wall can also be used to locate a certain object or technique. This means that its dimensions must match.

As for the color, you can use contrasting solutions. For a light room with wallpaper or plaster on the walls, make the recess darker. So, if the walls are covered with light wallpaper with a pattern, then the far wall is finished with canvases with the same or similar pattern, but darker.

Alternatively, the design is made in the same shade and the same material as the walls of the room. But the edges are edged with decorative cladding panels or dark-colored moldings.

For this element to become bright accent in the bathroom, its far wall can be laid out with a colorful mosaic.

FROM dark finish the walls are different - the inner recess is made in the same shade as the walls, and the moldings along its edges are light or white. If a mirror or stained-glass window is located in a dark niche, then it should be complemented by lighting.

Drapery of the structure with air curtains will visually make the interior of the room easier.

Niche in different rooms

Wall recesses are characterized by functional significance. The plasterboard structure can be further reinforced for use as a TV stand. Therefore, the structure should be calculated in advance so that it turns out to be stable and withstand a certain weight.

It is this material that is used to make artificial recesses, since it is easy to process, and allows you to translate into reality any design idea... The plasterboard construction turns out to be smooth, and hides the flaws in the layout and quality of the walls, communications and wiring.

The configuration of this decorative element is important. The horizontal structure will expand the space. To make it look organically in the interior, it is recommended to decorate it with wallpaper with a symmetrical pattern.

The vertical element will "raise" the ceiling, while the square and symmetrical ones will create a sense of harmony and balance in the room. You can decorate the wall in an original way with this design in any room.

Hallway

For the construction in the hallway, the most noticeable place is chosen, to which attention is directed at the entrance. In this case, they arrange lighting in it, put a decorative accessory, or hang a picture.

IN small corridor a recess in the wall can replace furniture - you can hang a mirror in it and install shelves or hooks for hats and umbrellas.

In the spacious hallway in the arch, you can put an aquarium or a pot with an exotic plant. Or you can simply make it a beautiful accent piece of the interior by pasting the far wall with wallpaper with a silver or golden pattern and hanging a beautiful wall lamp.

Living room

There are many options for using this decorative element in the living room:

  1. It can be designed as a craft showcase handmade or souvenirs, sports awards or paraphernalia;
  2. An artificial fireplace can be placed inside... It will look especially colorful if the far wall is trimmed artificial stone or create an imitation of brickwork;
  3. The longitudinal structure in the living room is often used to house a TV and other equipment;

Important! The supporting wall to which the TV will be mounted must be strong enough to support its weight. It is also worth considering that such a design takes about 40 cm of free space.

  1. IN small room, the recess in the wall can be designed as a rack with open shelves made of glass - this will make the design look easier;
  2. With the help of several elements of different shapes and locations, you can arrange accent wall in the room, and use the resulting recesses for storing souvenirs, books, photo frames or CDs;
  1. If the spacious living room is zoned using a stationary plasterboard partition, then with the help of grooves you can make such a structure functional;
  2. If the living room is combined with the kitchen, then a wall with shelves can be made from the side of the working area - this will allow you to organize storage kitchen utensils or decorative plates.

Important! If a TV will be placed inside the structure, then it is necessary that its angle does not interfere with the viewing of television programs - the screen must be fully visible from any point in the room.

There are several rules that are recommended to be followed when decorating this decorative element in the living room:

  1. For rooms with flaws in the layout, decorative niches are used as corrective elements that hide flaws;
  1. It is important to pay special attention to the balance of color, when the niche should not look much darker than the walls - otherwise it will look like a hole in the wall. For the same reason, internal illumination is used for deep fragments;
  1. If different textures are used when decorating a niche and adjacent walls, then it is necessary that they be combined with each other;
  1. The shape of the structure - rectangular, arched or free - should correspond to the style of the interior. It is possible to emphasize its severity with the help of recesses of the correct shapes, and rounded structures will help smooth the perception.

Bedroom

In the bedroom, for the location of the structure with a recess, choose a wall near a window, a closet or above the head of the bed. Sometimes it is partially located in an alcove, which is made out bright wallpaper and acts as an accent surface. The alcove can be made in the form of an arch.

If a TV is expected in the room, then it is placed on the opposite wall. You can also hang a mirror in the same way.

If a recess from floor to ceiling initially exists in the bedroom, then it can be used to build a built-in wardrobe. To do this, you will need to install sliding or hinged doors and internal filling.

In the spacious alcove, you can put a single bed or equip it with an additional functional area in the form of a dressing table or a workplace.

Children's room

An excellent solution would be the device of this design in the children's room, where practical functions are assigned to it:

  1. Alcove bed will create a feeling of comfort and security, even if only the headboard will fit in it;
  1. Shelves will allow you to neatly arrange the play area- they will fit soft toys, boxes with a designer and books. This is a good place to display a collection of figurines or toy cars;
  1. Built-in shelves near the desktop will allow you to store school supplies and textbooks;
  1. So that the furniture does not take up a lot of free space, so necessary for a little fidget, it can be removed in an alcove or installed a built-in wardrobe;
  1. In a small nook, you can equip a children's playhouse.

Bathroom

The device of decorative recesses in the bathroom is justified by the special operating conditions of this room - high humidity, sometimes dampness and temperature drops quickly disable any furniture. The area of the bathroom is often too small, and finding space is required for bath accessories, cleaning products, washing powder and towels.

The advantage of this design is that it can be positioned anywhere:

  1. A built-in shelf on the wall near the shower equipment is used to store soap, shower gel, shampoo and other personal hygiene products;
  1. A recess near the sink allows you to place cosmetics;
  1. You can build into a niche washing machine, and on the shelves above it, store towels and washing powder.

Kitchen

As in the bathroom, the constructions in the kitchen serve in addition to a decorative, practical function. In a small studio apartment, the kitchen itself can be located in a niche, which will become a creative and modern solution that allows you to save free space and isolate working area from the living quarters.

Most often, structures in the kitchen are equipped with shelves for storing dishes, indoor plants, TV, decorative items, paintings or photos. An artificial fireplace can be placed in the recessed dining area.

In the interior of the kitchen, it is precisely due to artificial recesses that you can create an ergonomic space, providing it with the maximum number of places for storing all kinds of utensils for which there may not be enough pieces of furniture, especially if the kitchen is small.

When arranging a niche in the kitchen, the following nuances must be taken into account:

  1. The recess in the wall must initially be perceived not only as an additional space, but also as an independent architectural element, to highlight which color and lighting are used;
  1. Niche color scheme can be contrasting or monochromatic, corresponding to the main color of the walls;
  2. The shape of the niche is influenced by the furniture and the configuration of the kitchen room itself. So, when placing a sofa in the dining area, the niche is arranged horizontally so that the general tendency in the arrangement of lines in the interior is observed. If there is bulky furniture in the kitchen, then with the help of a vertically located niche near a window or doorway, you can fill the interior with the missing lightness;
  1. Niche lighting plays an important role. With its help, you can achieve giving the decorative element the desired shade and bringing it to the fore in the general perception of the kitchen environment;
  2. It is better to place the backlight in the top or side parts so that you can use the niche as an additional decorative light source. If there are several recesses in the room, then the same illumination is chosen for them;
  1. It is important to know that when decorative elements are located in a niche, the use of bright illumination will lead to a partial loss of their color, but gold, silver or glass accessories, on the contrary, will look more advantageous, sparkling and shimmering in the rays of light;
  1. Spot lighting can be used to highlight a decorative item in a niche. If it is a painting or photograph, then diffused lighting is recommended, which does not distort the natural appearance of the image.

A structure with a decorative recess in the interior of the kitchen can be a frame for furnishings, shelves and plumbing fixtures, used as an additional storage system for dishes and household appliances, and carry a decorative function.

The video in this article will tell you how to make a niche in the wall.

In those rooms where a niche is a structural element, it is most often used from the practical side: some for a pantry, some for a built-in wardrobe or washing machine... And few people think about the importance of a niche in home design.
But in vain! Decorating a niche in the wall can become the main decoration of the interior, and help free up the space of the room from unnecessary furniture.
In our article we will talk about how to equip a niche with your own hands, and how you can decorate it.

The main purpose of the niche is to emphasize the style chosen for the interior decoration. Therefore, it is not only its decor that matters, but also the configuration.
So:

  • The Asian style is characterized by the use of pointed and arched forms. Such a niche can be trimmed to match the walls, and decorated with lamps.
    As one of the options, the presence of national patterns and drawings is possible in its design.

  • Turning to the Rococo and Empire styles, we will see niches decorated with intricate stucco molding and patterns, paintings and pots, draped with fabric. Modern niches came into our everyday life from the minimalism style.
    They are able to replace the most bulky furniture - shelves, cabinets and bookshelves, as in the photo below.

  • On top of that, a beautifully crafted niche is a trendy way to decorate walls. It is especially beautiful when it has unusual geometry, successful lighting and original finish.
  • In the layout of standard apartments, a niche is extremely rare, and, nevertheless, it can be equipped in the process of repair or redevelopment.
    It will not work to use load-bearing walls for a niche device; you can only make a recess in a brick interior partition. Is it worth it?
  • In this case, you have two options to get what you want. In the first of them, you will have to sacrifice ten centimeters of the area of the room in order to make an overhead decorative partition on the existing wall.

  • In the example we have given, such a partition is made in combination with so that a kind of niche is formed on it. Despite the fact that a small part of the area of the room was taken for a plasterboard structure, the room looks spacious.
  • An important role in this is played by the point illumination of curved lines, the landscape on the wallpaper. The niche line creates the impression of leaving the walls of the room to the street.
  • Very often, an overhead partition is made on an outer wall with windows. The niche, in this case, is the window itself, and the width of its window sill can make it possible to arrange a bed there, or even a desk.
    First of all, it depends on the parameters of the room.

  • In the event that you need a purely decorative effect, you can draw a niche on the wall. But here one cannot do without an artist.
    The perimeter of the drawn niche can be framed with a polyurethane frame. Such frames are sold ready for installation, they are attached to the wall with glue, and, in principle, you can decorate, like an ordinary niche.
  • Arrangement of a false niche is simply necessary in tight spaces. And where not natural light, such a niche is simply necessary - it can simulate a window.
    This design technique cannot be overemphasized when it comes to basements and attics.

  • Such a niche is often made in the form of a glazed frame. A great effect is given by a sticker on the glass depicting a cityscape, sky, or treetops.
    It turns out unusually beautifully if you make a colored stained-glass window in a niche. Its interior lighting will give the full impression of a street window.

  • While we're on the subject of fake niches, let's mention one more option. This is a surface-mounted polyurethane niche.
    This product, like all polyurethane stucco molding, is molded in the factory, and has White color... Decorating such a niche will consist only in painting it.

  • To create a niche, you can use any ledge, a branch of a corridor, a column or a rack - and now the disadvantages of the layout of the room turn into its advantages. Only you will have to act according to the scenario dictated by the geometry of the walls or ceiling.
  • When their surfaces are perfectly flat, you can give the niche any shape that a person's imagination is capable of. An overhead partition with a niche will facilitate the convenient location of wires and communications.

In this part of the article, we have given a lot of arguments for the fact that a niche can not only serve as an ornament, but also be useful from a practical point of view. Next, we will talk about how and from what to make it.

Niche making

To hammer a niche in a brick, and even more so in concrete wall, it is time consuming and thankless business. If you are just building a house or are deciding how to plan a studio room, a niche device can be foreseen in advance.
So:

  • And make it as deep as necessary for the function that you define for it - for example: the location of the bed or household appliances. By the way, a niche in the bathroom will save you from having to hang shelves on the walls.

  • When the recess is made along the entire height of the room, and furniture or appliances are supposed to be placed on the floor, it is easier to do this work yourself. It is a completely different matter if a niche has to withstand a certain load - here you need a competent calculation, and it would be best to turn to specialists for help.

  • A single niche is otherwise called stationary. If several niches are located in one row, they are called rhythmic.
    With such an arrangement, the interior of the opposite wall should be balanced with similar objects, for example: paintings, panels, photographs in frames.
  • There are certain rules for the location of niches. On a wall with low furniture: a sofa, a curbstone, a bed - a long horizontal recess will look best.
    A vertical and narrow niche will fit perfectly near a door or window opening or a tall cabinet.

Tools and materials for work

We will consider the option of creating an overhead partition with a niche, so you do not need a chisel and a perforator. And the following tools will be needed: a screwdriver; scissors for metal, necessary for cutting a profile; drill; stationery knife; building level.
So:

  • For chamfering and processing of cuts, you cannot do without a roughing and edging plane. If curved lines abound in the design of the partition, it will not be very convenient to cut a sheet of drywall with a knife - it is better to use a special thicknessing cutter.

  • To mount the frame, you will need two types of aluminum profiles: a guide and a rack. The frame cladding can be done either with plasterboard or with a gypsum fiber sheet.
    What is the difference between them, you will learn later.
  • GKL, or as it is also called gypsum plasterboard, is a gypsum core enclosed in a cardboard sheath. GVL is made from a higher grade gypsum and mixed with loose cellulose.
  • Thus, not a layered material is obtained, but a material of a homogeneous composition, made by the method of semi-dry pressing. It is more resistant to fire, moisture and shock loads, therefore, gypsum fiber board structures are more durable.
  • Naturally, its price is an order of magnitude higher, but for the installation of partitions with working niches, gypsum fiber sheets are more often used.
  • Just like gypsum plasterboard, GVL is subdivided into several types: there is a conventional version, moisture-resistant, small-format GVLV, and superpol. We will leave the last option for the floor, and the three previous ones can be used for the walls and ceiling.
    Two moisture-resistant options are used only in wet rooms, and ordinary sheets are suitable for rooms: gypsum board or gypsum plasterboard - each of them has its own advantages.
  • With which it will be more convenient to work, depends on what kind of structure needs to be done, and the conditions of its operation. Giprok is plastic when soaked, and when it dries, it restores its strength.
  • Thanks to these qualities, it is indispensable for the creation of curved and convex structures. So, if your partition is of the same shape as in the photo at the beginning of our article, you only need to take drywall.
  • It is worth making a choice in its favor even in the case when the walls will be decorated with wallpaper. Otherwise, it is more convenient to work with gypsum fiber sheets.
    Due to their homogeneous structure, they are easy to cut along or across, and there is less chance of damaging the sheet.

As fasteners, you will need two types of self-tapping screws, and connectors called "crabs". If the structure will smoothly transition to the ceiling, straight and anchor suspensions will be needed.
Well, choose materials for finishing, you will already be depending on which version of the decor you choose.

Installation and finishing

The installation of the profile is usually started after completion. This is if the partition with a niche is independent, dividing the room into zones.
In the case when it is purely decorative, invoice, you will have to work carefully after finishing.

So:

  • As in any business, work begins with marking around the entire perimeter of the future structure. To do this, use a level and a regular pencil or dye thread.
    Next, proceed to the installation of the guide profile, and then the rack.
  • If you watch a video on this topic, it will give you a much better idea of how and what to do than the most detailed instructions.
  • On an independent partition, one side is immediately sheathed with sheets of drywall, and a soft insulation is laid in the cells of the frame - here it will play the role of sound insulation. It is not used in the invoice partition.
    Although, if this is an external wall, then why not.
  • If necessary, hide it inside the communication, now is the time to bookmark them. The conclusions for the luminaires must be made in advance, even before the rough finish.
    After laying the wires and cables, close the inside of the partition with a second layer of gypsum plasterboard.
  • So, in general terms, the process of installing a partition with a niche looks like. And then it begins interior decoration the whole room, or the niche itself.
    And we will present, for example, several options for decorating them, worthy of your attention.
  • The finish of drywall niches can have many variations, but first, its surface must be carefully putty, sanded to perfect smoothness, and opened with a primer.

  • When the surface is prepared in this way, the result is guaranteed to be of good quality. One of the most popular finishing options is painting the niche to match the rest of the wall surface.
    To create an accent on a niche in the wall, with a single-color finish, backlighting is required.

  • Niches decorated with decorative plaster are unusually decorating the interior, but for this you have to invite a specialist, and his work will not be cheap. Indeed, to achieve the bulk and completeness of the picture, it is required to apply at least five layers of plaster.
    And the drawing will be guaranteed to be exclusive, because it is impossible to repeat it exactly twice.

  • how a budget option for decorating a niche, you can use a self-adhesive film with a pattern. A polyurethane frame can be used not only to design a false niche, but also to make a real recess corresponding to its size.
    In this case, the slopes of the niche can be trimmed to match the color of the frame or wall.

  • Embossed plasterboard niche can be done using the most different materials: textured wallpaper for painting, fabric coverings, volumetric panels, bamboo and stucco. In the picture above, the grooves on the walls are decorated with linkrust.
    This is a kind of wallpaper with deep relief, and a completely different sticker technology.

  • ABOUT decorative plaster we have already said, but the effects that can be obtained are so diverse that it is better to see once than read about them many times. Just look at our next example to understand how an artist's imagination can transform a rather modestly decorated room.
    This is his idea - all the attention to the niche!

  • As for bamboo, it is an incredibly popular material today. Wherever it is not used!
    There are floor coverings, wallpaper with bamboo veneer, 3D panels - all this can be used for decorating niches. Wall murals with painted bamboo and various stickers with this theme look no worse.

  • And another very popular way to decorate a niche is 3D wallpaper. Bulk wallpaper is never used along the entire perimeter of the walls, but only one of them is emphasized.
    In the case of a niche, this is a win-win. In the image above, an underwater theme has been chosen for the niche design.
    The volumetric image and its illumination give the complete impression that you are looking at the seabed or an aquarium.

From all of the above, we can draw the following conclusion: a niche is not just a useless recess in the wall, where useless little things like figurines and vases are placed. This is a full-fledged element of room decor.
In that case, of course, if they approached its creation with all seriousness. Think, look for your own, unique option, but remember the main rule: you cannot make a dark contrast on light wall.
Otherwise, the niche will create the impression of a black hole, and is unlikely to contribute to a harmonious perception of the interior.

An outdated option when the furniture is cluttered up in the apartment.

As an example, in the living room, instead of massive walls and no less massive slides that take up a lot of space, a beautifully designed niche looks great.

This design, as it were, enlivens the interior, bringing originality to it. Moreover, if the room is very small in area, then the niche expands it, and not only visually, but also functionally.

What do you need to know when designing a niche?

Before getting down to business, you need to decide what is the purpose of decorating a living room niche or any other room.

A niche in the wall in the living room is a great alternative to the use of very bulky cabinet furniture, which was previously customary to "have" in the living room.

This is how the design of the structure is thought out so that you can put a TV, a library, some household appliances, accessories. In this case, the niche is additionally complemented by shelves, which can be made of natural wood, glass, or the same drywall.

The structure is constructed as a decorative element in order to expand the space in the living room. If there is a need to raise the ceiling, albeit not in fact, but only visually, then several recesses are made in the wall, and all at different levels.

If the goal is to make the wall a little longer, then niches are made in it. Those constructions that are decorative are painted in a contrasting color and are highlighted.

Plasterboard niches in the living room should fully correspond to the concept of the style that was chosen for the design of the living room, for example, baroque, classic, modern, minimalism, hi-tech.

The main thing is that the design of the niche in the living room is appropriate.

What do you need?

Its width, depth, and the materials that will be used for decoration directly depend on the purpose of a niche.

It is important to say that it is possible to build such a structure both at the moment when major work is being carried out in the apartment, and after a while, as the repair is over. The niche is constructed of drywall or brick.

To make a niche in the living room look like a decoration, you need to have at hand such tools: tape measure, level, puncher, screwdriver, liquid nails, metal profile, reinforcing tape.

Sequence of work:

  • Planning a niche model and drawing it in detail on paper.
  • Calculation of materials required for work and their further purchase.

  • Performing markings on the wall.
  • Fastening the profiles strictly according to the markings.
  • Sheathing of the frame with plasterboard sheets.
  • Processing with reinforcing tape joints.
  • The walls are being finished in a niche in the living room. The drywall is putty and primed for optimal adhesion.

Backlight

The interior will become more interesting and dynamic if the niche is slightly highlighted. If the structure is relatively small, then several spotlights can easily be placed in it - one, less often two.

Mirrors can be located inside the formed niche so that light is emitted from the structure.

The living room, which has a niche, looks exclusive. Such a structure is often built in the kitchen, bedroom, in the children's room.

Every house has a TV, and of course, you need to allocate some place for it. Most often, a niche for a TV in the living room is equipped, so that nothing interferes with contemplating the picture on the screen. In addition, the niche allows you to hide all the wires.

It is quite simple to fit such a niche into the interior - a budget design option - photo wallpaper, wallpaper slightly different from the main surface of the walls in color, texture. If we talk about luxury design, we use wood panels, brick, stone cladding, 3D panels.

Niche design is the most relevant topic today, especially if it is a very small apartment. The photo of the niche in the living room shows that this is a wonderful decorative element that gives dynamism and expression to the interior.

Niche is a unique way to highlight the taste of home owners. Moreover, a niche that is correctly designed will give the space space and volume.

In order not to get the impression that the room is cluttered, it is worth carefully choosing the shape of the recess.

A niche can be of any shape - classic, rectangular, modern - any other shape. It all depends on your taste and preferences.

Photo of design options for a niche in the living room

Drywall is one of the best inventions in the field building materials... Almost no modern repair is complete without the use of gypsum board sheets.

Suspended single-level and multi-tiered ceilings, partitions, various niches and shelves, countertops, window slopes, wall alignment is far from a complete list of the use of this material.

Gypsum board is a non-toxic, harmless material produced in the form of gypsum-based slabs lined with cardboard on all sides (except for the upper and lower edges).

Plates are produced standard sizes: width 1200 mm, length 2500, 3000 mm.

Three are widely known: wall, ceiling and arched, the main difference is the thickness of the sheets. The wall material is 12.5 mm thick, the ceiling material is 9.5 mm thick, and the arched material is 6.5 mm thick.

According to the area of application, drywall is divided into:

GKLuniversal material for dry rooms (slabs gray with blue marking);

GKLV- moisture resistant plasterboard for rooms with high humidity(green plates with blue markings);

GKLO- fire-resistant plasterboard with increased ability to resist open fire (gray plates with red markings);

GKLVO- moisture resistant with increased fire resistance (green plates with red markings).

Today we will talk in more detail about the various partitions and niches that can be performed in residential and non-residential premises using drywall.

Drywall niche design

What are niches in the interior for? Firstly, it is a beautiful decorative element, secondly, a convenient storage place, thirdly, with the help of plasterboard partitions with niches and lighting, you can divide the room into zones, and fourthly, with their help you can save on furniture.

Plasterboard niches instead of furniture

Having decorated a blank wall using decorative plasterboard niches, where you can place a TV, a decorative fireplace, interesting and necessary interior items, flowers, books, there is no need to buy cabinet furniture.

We supplement the structure with spectacular lighting, install a cozy sofa in the living room, fill it with textiles, and get a complete and comfortable interior.

Plasterboard niche for hidden cornice

By constructing suspended ceiling from gypsum plasterboard, do not forget to make a niche in the ceiling for mounting a curtain rod. The hidden cornice is not visible to the eye, we perceive only curtains flowing, falling as if from the ceiling - no unnecessary elements.

Zoning the room

To divide the room into zones, use drywall partitions. With their help, you can separate the work area from the rest area, for example, in the children's room. To make the partition lighter and not shade the space separated from the illuminated part, complete it with a niche device. They can accommodate flowerpots, books, toys (if the partition is being built in the children's room) and other household items.

Using this technique, you can divide the nursery into two parts if the owners of the room are two children. Each person needs their own space. By dividing the room into two parts, you thereby give the opportunity for each child to have "their own territory", but at the same time the children spend time playing together.

The same technique can be used by dividing the living room into zones.

Zoning a room in one-room apartment to the living room and bedroom

GKL niches with additional functions

With the help of drywall, you can make niches for placing a dressing room in them or just a closet in the bedroom, nursery, in the hallway and in the corridor. It remains to install opening or sliding doors and a convenient storage space is ready.

If it becomes necessary to hide an unsightly heating radiator, then you can build a niche for it, which can later be closed with a decorative screen.

Niche shelves - a convenient storage place and an accent in the interior

Various niche shelves can be made in almost any room: kitchen, living rooms, in bathrooms, hallway, loggia. Such a design will be a great place for arranging various objects, and will also serve as an interesting accent when creating an interior.

In rooms with high humidity, the structure is constructed of moisture-resistant plasterboard. Surfaces can be painted acrylic paint(many people use facade paints, since they are resistant to moisture and mechanical stress). The walls can also be laid out with tiles. Mosaic tiles look especially impressive in the bathrooms.
