Thermostatic valve with increased flow capacity type RA-G

Thermostatic valve with increased flow capacity, type RA-G, is intended for use in pumped one-pipe water heating systems. They can also be used in two-tube gravity systems.
Thermostatic valves type RA-G have fixed flow rates.
All thermostatic valves type RA-G can be used with any thermo-static elements of the RA, RAW, RAX series or thermoelectric actuators TWA-A. For identification purposes, type RA-G valves are supplied with gray protective caps.
The cap should not be used to shut off the controlled medium. For these purposes, you should use a special metal
handle (code number 013G3300).
The push rod in the packing is made of chrome plated steel and does not require lubrication for the entire life of the valve.
All thermostatic valves type RA-G can be used with the entire range of compression fittings for copper pipes (information
about fittings on request). To prevent deposits and corrosion, RA-G valves should be used in hot water heating systems, where the coolant meets the requirements of the Rules for the Technical Operation of Power Plants and Heating Networks Russian Federation.

The updated range of valves mod thermostatic heads. Valve type RA. Two types of valves: for one-pipe and two-pipe systems.

Thermostat control valves are subdivided into:

valves for a two-pipe pump heating system, type RA-N, of increased resistance with a device for adjusting their flow capacity for hydraulic balancing of the pipeline system;
valves of increased capacity type RA-G for pumping one-pipe or two-pipe gravitational heating system.

Control valves for radiator thermostats RA are classified into two types: RA-N(for two-pipe pump heating systems) and RA-G(for one-pipe pumping and two-pipe gravitational systems) 1). The RA-N valve is a valve of increased hydraulic resistance with preliminary installation setting of its maximum flow capacity. Valves are produced with nominal diameter from 10 to 25 mm, straight and angle, nickel-plated. Danfoss' range includes a modification of the DN = 15 mm RA-NCX valve with a chrome body, which is usually used in conjunction with RAX thermocouples in chrome or color. RA-NCX valves are rarely used and valves RA-N DN = 10 and 25 mm do not find practical application in Russia at all, therefore they are not presented in this manual. Angle horizontal and three-axis valves are used when it is necessary to use a thermostatic element with a built-in sensor and the pipelines supplying the heat carrier to the heater are laid from below. The Danfoss range also includes a RA-N DN = 15 mm valve with a pressure connection for a copper pipe ø15x1 mm, which is used in horizontal apartment heating systems. Technical information for RA-N valves DN = 10 and 25 mm , RA-NCX and RA-N DN = 15 mm for press connections are presented in catalog VD.53.P17.50 "Radiator thermo-regulators and pipe fittings for hot water heating systems". RA-N valves are supplied with a red protective cap.

The main advantage of Danfoss RA-N valves is convenience and accuracy of adjustment to the required hydraulic resistance (flow capacity). In valves from other manufacturers, the setting is the number of revolutions of the special tool from the closed position. In this case, it is impossible to determine the value of the setting visually without disturbing the existing position of the device. It will not be accurate either, since it is not clear how many revolutions, for example 3 or 3 ¼. The presence of a special tool complicates the adjustment work. Externally, the same valves from different companies have different fixed settings. During installation, builders often confuse them and in the future cannot establish the heating system. Some companies offer to make the setting not on the thermostat-regulator, but on the shut-off valve, changing the number of revolutions of its stem. This is inconvenient, as it leads to a rise in the cost of work and a decrease in the accuracy of adjustment.

The presetting device is a throttling cylinder associated with a rotary crown. The different positions of the crown and cylinder correspond to the specific flow rates of the thermostat valve. On the crown, numeric indices of the positions of the tuning element are indicated. The setting indices must be determined during the hydraulic calculation of the heating system and set against drilling on the valve body during installation and commissioning work. Tuning is done without the use of any tool. The adjusting device is hidden under the thermostatic element and, when it is blocked, becomes inaccessible for accidental readjustment. In case of possible clogging of the valve at low presetting values, it is enough to turn the adjusting crown to the "N" position (fully open), and the valve is flushed with water. After that, the setting returns to its original position. The presetting values are clearly visible on the crown (it is easy to set up or check the correctness of the setting). Each valve has 14 fixed setpoints (settings 1 to 7, N and six intermediate positions).

RA-G - a valve of low hydraulic resistance without a device to limit its capacity. The valves are manufactured with a nominal diameter of 15 to 25 mm with a nickel-plated body. They can also be straight and angled. The manual does not include the RA-G valves DN = 25 mm, since they are not practically used in Russia. Technical information on them is presented in catalog VD.53.P17.50 "Radiator thermostats and pipe and wire fittings for hot water heating systems". The RA-G valves are supplied with a gray protective cap. The RA-N and RA-G dampers are connected to the heating devices using threaded shanks with a union nut, and with the pipeline through a coupling socket. If necessary, in heating systems, a special version of RA-N valves can be used - with an external connecting thread or with a fitting for a press connection with a copper pipe ø15x1 mm. Many Russian factories produce heating devices with built-in Danfoss thermostat valves. Among them are the Moscow plant Santekhprom, which produces a bimetallic radiator Santekhprom-BMN Auto and convectors with a casing of the Santekhprom Auto series; JSC "Mechanical Plant" (St. Petersburg) - steel panel radiator of the "Konrad-Thermo" type; plant "Radiator" (Kimry) - steel tubular radiator of the "RS" type, etc. Convectors and steel radiators are equipped with thermostat valves for both two-pipe and one-pipe heating systems. Other devices with built-in thermostats are intended for two-pipe systems only. Danfoss thermostat valves built into a heater are generally similar in design and hydraulic performance to the RA-N and RA-G stand-alone thermostat valves. Technical characteristics of Russian heating devices with thermostats are given in the passports of manufacturers heating equipment, in the relevant materials of Danfoss LLC, and also included in the database of the Danfoss S.O. program for calculating heating systems on personal computers.

The main advantage of Danfoss RA-G valves- high throughput (RA-G DN = 20 mm has Kv = 2.06 m3 / h at Xp = 2 ° C). This is important in one-pipe heating systems to achieve optimal values of the coefficient of flow of the coolant from the riser to the heater. High flow capacity is obtained due to the large valve seat area and increased stroke (more than 30% when using a thermostatic element with gas condensate filling compared to liquid-filled thermostats). These valves are the only ones with such a capacity that have the European quality certificate EN215. This is due to their ability to tightly shut off the coolant flow through the heater when the room temperature rises by 2 ° C more than the calculated one. In addition, the valve presents a unique service capability: its seat and plug can be completely replaced on site if required (without dismantling the valve).

Technical characteristics of RA type radiator thermostats comply with European standards EN 215-1 and Russian GOST 30815-2002.

    Technical characteristics of thermostatic elements of the RA 2000 series

    The main device of the thermostatic element is a bellows, which provides proportional control. The thermocouple sensor senses changes in the ambient temperature. The bellows and the sensor are filled with a highly volatile liquid and its vapors. The calibrated pressure in the bellows corresponds to its charging temperature. This pressure is balanced by the compression force of the tuning spring. As the air temperature around the sensor rises, some of the liquid evaporates, and the vapor pressure in the bellows increases. In this case, the bellows increases in volume, moving the valve spool towards closing the hole for the coolant flow into the heater until an equilibrium is reached between the spring force and the vapor pressure. When the air temperature drops, the vapors condense, and the pressure in the bellows decreases, which leads to a decrease in its volume and the movement of the valve spool towards the opening until the position at which the system is in equilibrium again. The vapor fill will always condense in the coldest part of the transmitter, usually the furthest from the valve body. Therefore, the radiator thermostat will always react to changes room temperature without feeling the temperature of the coolant in the supply pipeline. However, when the air around the valve is nevertheless heated by the heat given off by the pipeline, the sensor can register more high fever than indoors. Therefore, to exclude such influence, it is recommended to install thermostatic elements, as a rule, in a horizontal position. Otherwise, it is necessary to use thermocouples with a remote sensor.

    Selection of the type of thermostatic element

    Thermostatic elements with built-in sensor

    When choosing a thermostatic element, one should be guided by the rule: the sensor must always respond to the air temperature in the room.

    Thermostatic elements with a built-in sensor must always be positioned horizontally so that ambient air can circulate freely around the sensor. They should not be installed in a vertical position, as the thermal effect on the sensor from the valve body and the heating pipe will lead to incorrect operation of the thermostat.

    Thermostatic elements with external sensor

    Thermostatic elements with a remote sensor should be used if: o thermoelements are closed with a blind curtain; o heat flow from the heating system pipelines affects the built-in temperature sensor; o thermoelement is located in the draft zone; o vertical installation of the thermocouple is required. The remote sensor of the thermostatic element must be installed on a wall free from furniture and curtains or on a plinth under the heating device if there are no heating pipes there. When installing the sensor, the capillary tube should be pulled out to the required length (maximum 2 m) and fixed to the wall using the supplied brackets or a special gun.

    Thermostatic elements of the RAW series

    Thermostatic elements of the RAW series are automatic temperature control devices intended for completing RA type radiator thermostats. The radiator thermostat is a direct-acting proportional air temperature controller with a small proportional band, which is currently used in heating systems in buildings for various purposes. Thermostat type RA consists of two parts: a universal thermostatic element of the RAW series and a control valve with a pre-set flow rate RA-N (for two-pipe heating systems) or RA-G (for one-pipe system).

    The RAW thermostatic elements production program includes:

  • RAW 5010 - thermostatic element with built-in temperature sensor;
  • RAW 5012 - thermostatic element with a remote temperature sensor;
  • RAW 5110 is a thermostatic element with a built-in sensor and a device for 100% overlapping of the thermostat valve.

    Thermostatic elements of the RAW series are equipped with anti-freeze protection devices, fixing and limiting the temperature setting. The RAW 5012 is equipped with a 2 m ultra-thin capillary tube that is wound inside the sensor housing and connects the remote sensor to the thermostatic element. During installation, the pipe is pulled to the required length. The clip-on connection allows simple and precise fastening of the thermocouple to the valve.

    Technical characteristics of radiator thermostats with thermoelements of the RAW series comply with European standards EN 215-1 and Russian GOST 30815-2002.

    In order to prevent unauthorized dismantling, the thermocouple can be fixed to the valve using a special retainer (see Accessories).

    Technical characteristics of thermostatic elements of the RAW series

    The main device of the thermostatic element is a bellows, which provides proportional control. The thermocouple sensor senses changes in the ambient temperature. The bellows and the sensor are filled with a special temperature-sensitive liquid. The calibrated pressure in the bellows corresponds to its charging temperature. This pressure is balanced by the compression force of the tuning spring. As the air temperature around the sensor rises, the liquid expands and the pressure in the bellows increases. In this case, the bellows increases in volume, moving the valve spool towards the closure of the hole for the coolant flow into the heater until an equilibrium is reached between the spring force and the fluid pressure. When the air temperature drops, the liquid begins to compress, and the pressure in the bellows decreases, which leads to a decrease in its volume and the movement of the valve spool towards the opening to a position at which the system equilibrium is re-established. To exclude the influence of warm air from the heating pipe of the heater, it is recommended to install thermostatic elements, as a rule, in a horizontal position. Otherwise, it is necessary to use thermocouples with a remote sensor.

    Thermostatic elements of the RAW-K series

    Thermostatic elements RAW-K series- automatic temperature controllers with a small proportional band. RAW-K are intended for installation on thermostat valves from Heimeier, Oventrop or MNG, built into the structure of steel panel radiators such as Biasi, Delta, DiaNorm, Diatherm, Ferroli, Henrad, Kaimann, Kermi, Korado, Purmo, Radson, Superia, Stelrad, Veha, Zehnder-Completto Fix. Living eco electronic radiator thermostat

    The Living eco® electronic radiator thermostat is a programmable microprocessor-based regulator for maintaining the set air temperature, mainly in residential buildings served by a hot water heating system. The thermostat is designed to be installed on valves of radiator thermostats instead of traditional thermostatic elements.

    Living eco® has programs P0, P1 and P2 that allow you to adjust the room temperature at different times of the day.

    The P0 program maintains a constant air temperature throughout the day. In order to save energy, programs P1 and P2 can reduce the temperature in the room at certain periods of time, which makes it possible to adapt the operation of the heating system to the lifestyle of the people living in it.

    The Living eco® thermostat is supplied complete with adapters for installation on Danfoss thermostat valves, as well as most other manufacturers. Installing and setting up the Living eco® thermostat is straightforward, with only three buttons on its panel.

    The Living eco® thermostat is equipped with an open window function, which cuts off the supply of heating medium to the heater when the room temperature drops sharply, which reduces heat loss, thereby increasing the efficiency of the heating system.

    Main characteristics of the thermostat:

  • ensuring energy saving;
  • ease of installation;
  • ease of customization;
  • maintaining a comfortable temperature;
  • "open window" function;
  • valve testing function in summer;
  • PID control law, which ensures accurate temperature control;
  • adaptive adjustment of the time of reaching the operating mode after the temperature has dropped;
  • the ability to set different temperatures for weekends and weekdays, as well as up to three periods during the day;
  • long service life of one set of batteries (two years);
  • limiting function (min./max.) temperatures;
  • childproof lock;
  • a special regime of long absence, during which the premises are not operated for a long time;
  • frost protection function of the heating system;
  • backlit display;
  • autonomous food.

    Pre-installed programs

  • Program without automatic temperature reduction function - maintains a constant, randomly set temperature throughout the day. Energy saving program - reduces the temperature to 17 ° C at night (22.30-06.00). It is possible to change the energy saving program. Extended energy saving program - reduces the temperature to 17 ° C at night (22.30-06.00) and during the day on weekdays (08.00-16.00). The extended energy saving program can be changed.

    The long-term absence function allows you to reduce the temperature in a room when it is not in use. The absence period and temperature are freely adjustable by the consumer.

    The choice of programs and their setting are made in accordance with the instructions attached to the thermoelement.

    Thermoelectric actuators TWA series

    Thermoelectric mini-actuators of the TWA series are designed for two-position control of various control valves in heating and heating and cooling systems of local ventilation units.

    The actuator is equipped with a visual travel indicator that indicates whether the valve is closed or open.

    Depending on the version, TWA actuators can be used with Danfoss RA, RAV8 and VMT valves, as well as Heimeier, MNG and Oventrop valves with M 30 x 1.5 actuator mounting threads. If the actuator is used with other types of valves, the valve must be checked to ensure that the geometry is compatible and that it closes. The supply voltage of the actuator is 24 or 230 V. The valves can be normally closed in the absence of voltage (NC) and normally open (NO). In addition, the normally closed actuator with a 24 V supply voltage is supplied with a limit switch (NC / S).

    Presetting thermostat valves RA-N and RA-NCX DN = 15 mm (chrome-plated)

    Control valves RA-N and RA-NCX are intended for use in two-pipe pumping systems for hot water heating.

    RA-N is equipped with a built-in device for preliminary (editing) adjustment of its bandwidth within the following ranges:

  • Kv = 0.04-0.56 m3 / h - for valves DN = 10 mm;
  • Kv = 0.04-0.73 m3 / h - for valves DN = 15 mm;
  • Kv = 0.10-1.04 m3 / h - for valves DN = 20 and 25 mm.

    The RA-N and RA-NCX valves can be combined with all thermostatic elements of the RA, RAW and RAX series, as well as with the thermoelectric actuator TWA-A.

    To identify the RA-N and RA-NCX valves, their protective caps are colored red. The protective cap must not be used to shut off the heating medium flow through the heater. Therefore, the handle (code number 013G3300) must be used.

    Valve bodies are made of pure nickel plated brass (RA-N) or chrome plated (RA-NCX).

    The technical characteristics of RA-N and RA-NCX valves in combination with thermostatic elements of the RA, RAW and RAX series comply with European standards EN 215-1 and Russian GOST 30815-2002, and the size of the connecting thread - with HD 1215 (BS 6284 1984). All Danfoss radiator thermostats are manufactured in ISO 9000 (BS 5750) certified factories.

    To prevent deposits and corrosion, the valves of the RA-N and RA-NCX thermostats should be used in hot water heating systems where the coolant meets the requirements of the Rules for the Technical Operation of Power Plants and Networks of the Russian Federation. In other cases, Danfoss should be contacted. It is not recommended to use compositions containing petroleum products (mineral oils) for lubricating valve parts.

    Adjustment to the calculated value is easy and accurate without the use of special tools. To do this, perform the following operations:

  • remove the protective cap or thermostatic element;
  • raise the tuning ring;
  • turn the dial of the setting ring so that the desired value is opposite the set mark "o" located on the side of the valve outlet (factory setting "N");
  • release the tuning ring.

    The presetting can be made in the range from "1" to "7" at intervals of 0.5. In the "N" position, the valve is fully open. Avoid mounting on the dark area of the scale.

    When the thermostatic element is installed, the presetting is hidden and thus protected from unauthorized changes.

    Presetting thermostat valve RA-N with press connection

    The RA-N valve is intended for use in two-pipe pumping systems for hot water heating with copper or stainless steel pipelines. Special crimping tools are required to connect the valve connector to the pipeline. Valve body by appearance and the technical characteristics are identical to the standard RA-N valves DN = 15 mm. RA-N can be used with any type of thermostatic elements of the RA or RAW series, as well as with special design thermostatic elements type RAX and thermoelectric actuator TWA-A.

    The RA-N control valve is equipped with a built-in device for preliminary (mounting) adjustment of its Kv capacity in the range from 0.04 to 0.73 m3 / h.

    The protective cap is colored red for identification of the valves. The cap should not be used to shut off the controlled medium. For this purpose, a special metal handle (code number 013G3300) must be used. The valve body is made of DZR nickel-plated brass and the pressure pin is made of stainless steel. The pin does not require lubrication for the entire life of the valve. The gland packing can be replaced without draining the piping system. RA-N should be used in hot water heating systems where the coolant meets the requirements of the Rules for the Technical Operation of Power Plants and Networks of the Russian Federation. In other cases, Danfoss should be contacted. It is not recommended to use compositions containing petroleum products (mineral oils) for lubricating valve parts.

    Thermostat valve with increased flow rate RA-G

    Thermostatic valve with increased throughput RA-G is intended for use, as a rule, in one-pipe water heating systems with pumped circulation of the coolant that meets the requirements of the Rules for the Technical Operation of Power Plants and Heating Networks of the Russian Federation. It is not recommended to use the valve if there are mineral oil impurities in the heating medium.

    The RA-G is equipped with a gland that can be replaced without draining the heating system. The packing pin is made of chrome plated steel and does not require lubrication for the entire life of the valve. All versions of RA-G valves can be combined with any thermostatic elements of the RA series.

    The RA-G valves are supplied with gray (for identification purposes) protective caps, which must not be used to shut off the heating medium flow. Therefore, a special metal service shut-off handle (code no. 013G3300) must be used.

    X-traTM thermostatic valve set for heated towel rails and design radiators.

    The X-tra ™ thermostatic kit is specially designed for heated towel rails. It consists of a thermostat valve, a thermostatic element and a shut-off valve with drainage function. The innovative self-sealing connection of the valves to the radiator is a one-half inch thread. Valves and thermocouple are available in white, chrome and steel versions, suitable for most heated towel rails. This set is the perfect ending for a heated towel rail. Attractive and compact design allows you to install the thermostat under the heated towel rail parallel to the wall, eliminating accidental knocks on it.

    The nomenclature includes two types of thermostats with different control principles:

    • RAX, which regulates the room temperature;
    • RTX, which detects and regulates the temperature of the water leaving the heated towel rail. Used on towel warmers and adjustable to 5-10 ° C above the room temperature, the RTX thermostat provides a constant temperature for drying towels.
    The thermostats have the same design except for the setting scale numbers: on RAX - Roman, on RTX - Arabic.

    The valve assembly is a body with a two-way self-sealing fitting, which has two O-rings: one for sealing the connection of the fitting to the heated towel rail, the other for sealing the connection of the fitting with the valve body. The socket head cap screw is used to seal the valve body to fitting. If the O-rings do not fit the towel rail fittings, traditional sealing material is used.

  • The main task of any heating system is to provide a comfortable air temperature in the room. This temperature can be different depending on the purpose of the room, but if its unchanged during the day is a prerequisite, then the thermostat becomes indispensable. structural element heater.
    The Danfoss radiator thermostat consists of two parts: a valve and a thermostatic element (thermal head). Inside the thermostatic element there is a thin sealed cylinder - a bellows filled with a liquid or gaseous thermosensitive working substance. As the temperature rises, the bellows stretches and moves the associated rod, which presses on the rod in the valve, and the valve reduces the flow of coolant into the radiator. When the temperature drops, the process is reversed. Thus, the thermal head is a control mechanism, and the valve is an executive one.

    Manufacturer: Danfoss (Denmark).

    Danfoss radiator thermostat valves

    Radiator thermostat valves are divided into:
    - valves for a two-pipe pump heating system ( type RA-N) increased resistance with a device for adjusting their throughput to perform hydraulic balancing of the pipeline system;
    - valves of increased throughput type RA-G for pumping one-pipe or two-pipe gravitational heating system.

    Danfoss valve bodies are made of brass. The connection allows easy and precise attachment of the thermostatic element to the control valve. To identify the RA-N valves, their protective caps are colored red and the RA-G valves are gray.

    Danfoss thermostatic elements

    Danfoss thermostatic elements (thermal heads) are automatic temperature control devices designed for completing radiator thermostats.
    The thermostat, equipped with a thermostatic element, maintains a constant temperature in the room at the desired level within the range from + 5 ° C to + 26 ° C with an accuracy of ± 1 ° C.
    It should be remembered that thermostats are for the most part regulatory fittings, but not shut-off(except for the RA2940 and RAW 5110 thermostats), therefore, if it is necessary to dismantle the radiator, the thermal head should be replaced with a bronze shut-off handle, which will completely shut off the coolant flow.

    When installing thermostats, it should be remembered that the effect of their use will be noticeable if they control radiators with low thermal inertia. Practically, these are all known types of modern radiators except cast iron. The latter, due to the large mass of cast iron and water, will heat up and cool down very slowly, negating the effect of regulation.

    Shut-off and connecting valves RLV are designed for lateral connection to the radiator of pipelines of a two-pipe heating system. Available in straight and angled versions.
    P y = 10 bar *; T max = 120 ° C; ΔP max = 0.6 bar.
