Do I need to change the batteries in the apartment. How to change a battery in an apartment: a step-by-step process for replacing a heating battery yourself

DIY garden

Various elements of heating systems require periodic replacement in order to raise overall effectiveness work. It is especially important to maintain maximum performance for the radiators. If they begin to give off heat weakly, then the battery in the apartment needs to be replaced.

The cause of breakdowns may lie in a decrease in the patency of the channels, as well as the formation of unwanted plaque on the inner walls. In some cases, through corrosive processes appear through cracks or holes. Installation of clamps in such a situation will bring a weak return, or in some areas it will be technologically impossible.

Who is in charge of the batteries

Before replacing the battery in an apartment, you need to know who owns the property. This is important when working central systems heating, because replacing the heating battery leads to minor changes in the heat supply.

The common house property includes the entire indoor heating system, wiring, metering devices and related auxiliary equipment.

According to this rule self replacement heating radiators without any agreement with the governing bodies is an illegal act. Only on the basis of a technical construction expertise can the belonging of individual heating devices be identified.

Legislative issues

It is possible to make adjustments in engineering networks only on the basis of the current Housing Code. According to article 25 of this document, any redevelopment in this area must be accompanied by a simultaneous update with the technical passport of the house.

However, at the moment, the passport does not indicate the location of the radiators in the room, even for central heating. This means that while the radiator can be replaced without changes in the documentation. In any case, it is advisable to monitor the relevance of legislation before all work.

The owner of the apartment before replacing the heating radiator in the apartment must agree on the following points:

  • when replacing a heating battery in an apartment with its full analogue in terms of basic physical, mechanical and dimensional parameters, it is possible to notify the management company only in writing;
  • during the change of batteries in the apartment, the cost of which may be higher than that of the installed radiators, installation of other heating elements in terms of configuration and parameters is allowed, then an independent expert assessment is needed (paid by the owner of the apartment), confirming this installation;
  • moving the battery to another location or replacing cast iron batteries - this also requires expertise.

Approval is carried out by an expert organization with SRO approval. After receiving the conclusion, it must be agreed with the chief engineer of the management company, who either signs it himself or sends it to an interdepartmental commission. Further, after agreement, you should hire an installation organization with a TERM approval, which will replace it. This can also be done by a private person who has a welder's certificate and a fire safety certificate.

We select material for radiators

Modern manufacturers offer a wide range of heating systems and their individual elements... The main grouping for them is carried out according to the type of material from which they are made:

  • Cast iron. Replacing batteries in an apartment with cast-iron ones is usually performed if exactly the same model was installed there. They are able to serve for many years, attract with an affordable cost and guaranteed quality.

  • Aluminum. The lightest products that are easy to install, while they have high heat transfer. Long-term operation does not harm their appearance. Products with high corrosion resistance.

  • Steel. Replacing the heating radiator with steel batteries is carried out if the room requires high heat transfer.

Steel radiators - leaders in the number of vulnerabilities

  • Bimetal structures. Small weight and good looks make such heating elements very popular. They have a sufficient number of positive qualities, for example, corrosion resistance, good heat transfer. However, the cost of replacing a heating radiator in an apartment with bimetallic batteries will be higher than for other types of construction.

Universal bimetallic construction

When choosing a material, one must not forget about technical characteristics that should suit the room as much as possible. These data are registered in the passport for the radiators.

Design characteristics

For apartment buildings with a high number of storeys (more than 20 levels), it is strictly forbidden to use aluminum radiators, since they are not designed for such a pressure level (usually it reaches 15 atm). They will simply be torn apart at the connecting seams.

Also, in houses with central heating, chemicals are added to the coolant. They can destroy the fragile walls of aluminum radiators, so new radiators must be coordinated in many ways before installation.

In order for the heating batteries for the apartment to be operated with maximum efficiency, it is necessary to take into account the calculated data. According to approximate calculations, 1 kW of power per 1 m2 of area is taken, and to the obtained value we add 30% of the correction factor. It is necessary in order to take into account the height of the ceilings, the number of windows, the presence outer walls, number of storeys, etc.

Assembly operations

Replacing heating radiators in an apartment can be carried out both independently and with the help of more experienced specialists. The necessary tools and materials must be available.

New batteries in the apartment are hung out as horizontally as possible, which should show the level, and also verticality in all axes must be observed. If there are 12 or more knees in the hitch, it is necessary to strengthen the fastening with an additional canopy at the top.

The load from the mass of the radiators is taken up only by the upper canopies. The bottom hooks are only needed as restraints to move the section away from the wall.

When choosing a heating radiator for an apartment, it is worth choosing its height so that the space above it to the windowsill is 90-100 mm, and the interval between its lower part and the floor is about 120-150 mm. It is customary to maintain the lag from the wall within 20-30 mm. It is advisable that the window sill does not completely cover the radiator, but this is not a necessary factor.

When connecting pipes to radiators, neither the upper pipe should be bent (the wave should not go down), nor the lower pipe (the wave should not go up).

To increase the value of heat transfer, it is necessary to glue the foil insulation behind the radiators with the shiny side inside the room. Otherwise, a significant part of the heat will be lost when heating the outer wall.

Before installing radiators on a balcony or loggia, it will need to be insulated. To carry it out to the loggia, a couple of holes are drilled in the wall through which the wiring is displayed.

VIDEO: Replacing heating radiators with your own hands

In the context of a total struggle for savings, increasing the efficiency of the heating system is one of the priority tasks. To solve it, it is necessary, first of all, to replace the old batteries with new modern heating devices. How to do it yourself is described in this article.

In order for the house to always be warm, it is necessary that all heating devices work with maximum efficiency. In many houses, to this day there are obsolete registers with low efficiency. In fact, heating residential premises with such batteries is a waste of money. Replacing old batteries with new ones will significantly improve indoor comfort while reducing heating bills.

First, you should talk about the types of modern batteries. They can be conditionally divided into three classes:

  1. Steel, battery with steel casing. To increase the heat transfer area, and, consequently, the efficiency of such batteries, it is necessary to do very a large number of internal partitions. As a result - a rather high cost - a two-kilowatt battery will cost about 3,500 rubles.
  2. Aluminum. They have thicker walls in comparison with steel walls and, accordingly, a higher efficiency. They are susceptible to the destructive effects of alkali, which is added to the water flowing in heating systems so that scale does not form on the inner walls of the heating pipes. Cheap material and ease of manufacture provide a low price - about 2,000 rubles. per battery with a capacity of approximately 2 kW.
  3. Bimetallic. The inner part is steel, the outer part is aluminum. They combine the advantages of the previous types of batteries and do not have their disadvantages. The average price is about 2600 rubles. for two kilowatt.

Thus, when installing a battery on a central water supply system, it is necessary to use either steel or bimetallic radiators - aluminum will quickly collapse under the action of alkali. When installing an autonomous heating system, for example, in private houses, in order to save money, it is advisable to use aluminum radiators.

So let's get started. Let's replace the old registers with a modern battery.

Required tools and materials

To carry out the work, you will need the following tools:

1. Angle grinder (grinder with a disc for metal).

2. A set of keys.

3. Perforator with a drill with a diameter of 12 mm.

4. Soldering iron for polypropylene pipes with a diameter of 25 mm and scissors for cutting.

5. Building level, tape measure, pencil.

Materials:

1. Polypropylene pipe with a diameter of 25 mm, fiberglass reinforced.

2. Fittings and accessories for polypropylene pipes.

3. Battery connection kit.

You can buy all these elements separately, then you will need:

  • radiator plug 1 "x½": left - 2 pcs., right - 2 pcs.;

  • plug ½ ", drain valve - Mayevsky valve;

  • angle valve ½ on the supply and return lines;

  • fixing the battery to the wall.

4. The battery itself.

Battery Replacement

1. The most difficult stage of any work is dismantling the old system. We drain the water. We make two deep cuts on the pipe at a distance of about 15-20 cm and, using a gas wrench, carefully break out a piece of pipe. It is not worth cutting off the pipe completely, since the internal stress in the pipe can jam the disc, which is fraught with tool breakage and injury.

2. We remove old pipes as much as possible. In our case, to the plug of the neighboring radiator along the water supply branch, and the outlet corner along the return line.

3. We wind the reel onto the transition fittings and screw them into the supply and return.

4. We mark the place of the battery attachment using a level and a tape measure.

5. We drill holes in the right places, insert the dowels and screw in the radiator hooks.

6. We begin to tie the battery. First, we screw in the plugs - two with a right-hand thread, two with a left one. Since there is an O-ring on the plugs, you do not need to use a rewinder.

7. In the upper part of the battery, we screw the tap with the American into the supply. To do this, we use the handle of the gas key and the protrusions on the inside of the American woman. Do not forget about reeling.

This tap is used to regulate the temperature of the battery. We open the tap. To do this, twist it to the side with the + sign.

8. In the lower part of the battery, opposite to the return, we screw the cap.

8.On the other hand, screw the tap onto the return line and open it with a hexagon.

9. Screw the drain valve into the remaining unused upper battery plug. Since it has an O-ring, no additional winding is needed.

10. We hang the battery in place. We install the supply and return lines made of polypropylene pipes. Observing the order of soldering the pipe, we solder the battery to the line.

When installing polypropylene pipes, it is necessary to provide for expansion gaps when the pipe is heated. Pipes should not be cemented as they pass through ceilings and walls.

11. It remains to fill the system with coolant and bleed the air using the Mayevsky valve.

Evgeny Dubinin, rmnt.ru (based on materials from user chugaiigor)

Elements of the heating system, radiators, may require replacement (due to wear, leakage). Also, apartment owners can change them to improve heating performance, increase heat transfer. Dismantling of outdated and installation of new equipment is carried out by professionals, because any errors during replacement will disable the system.

Batteries are changed after the heating season, and only in emergency situations emergency repairs are carried out in winter, autumn.

It's important to know, who is the replacement radiators in the apartment, where to go if the heating system leaks.

Information on these issues will allow you to quickly complete renovation work without breaking comfort in everything apartment building.

Whose property is the heating radiators within the apartment, who is responsible for their work - homeowners or housing and communal services?

Is the battery common property or is it private property for which the owner is responsible?

Government approved Resolution No. 491 of 08.13.06, which lists the property common to tenants apartment building... In this list:

  • risers;
  • shut-off and control valves;
  • collective metering devices, heating elements.

According to this regulation, the design of radiators can officially be considered the property common use, common property.

But the management companies and enterprises of the housing office serving the house prefer to hide this information. As a result, the tenants, the owners of the apartment, when the battery is leaking, try to repair it themselves.

Replacement is carried out for a similar or more perfect, improved design. Management companies save on repair work by shifting their responsibilities to consumers.

Changing the radiator in the municipal building

In a non-privatized apartment, replace batteries due to leakage, poor heat transfer or wear and tear. premises owner... Residents need to know who owns the house and who maintains it.

A tenant, who is a resident of a municipal apartment, should not spend his savings on renovation work, this is established by law.

If the masters from the ZhEK demand money for the installation of new batteries, this can be considered extortion, violation of the Government Decree No. 491 of 13.08.2006.

Another document - Housing Code of the Russian Federation... According to article 65, a landlord providing apartments under a social tenancy agreement must ensure the proper maintenance and repair of common property.

Who is the replacement?

If pipes leak or they give little heat, require modernization, the question arises - who should change the batteries in a privatized apartment?

According to law heating appliances are common property... But there is a nuance in this matter.

IMPORTANT! If a valve is installed in front of the entrance of the heating system to the apartment, thanks to which it is possible to turn off the supply of the heat source, the battery will be considered the property of the homeowner.

In this case, it is rarely possible to resolve the issue of reinstalling radiators through the housing office or the management company. To save housing from cold and flooding, it will be necessary carry out repairs at your own expense.

If there is no tap that turns off the water supply through the heating pipes to the apartment, the CC should be engaged in the replacement.

Despite the fact that the heating radiator in the apartment is the responsibility of the management company, it is not always possible to get help from its masters.

When calling for a battery leak, the employees of the Criminal Code sometimes simply put a plug, suggesting to wait a while before replacing the equipment.

If the accident happened during the cold season, then there is no way to wait. As a result, the homeowner buys and replaces the battery on his own, providing warmth in the house.

ATTENTION! In the event that the owner of the apartment independently repairs the heating system, he may demand compensation in the amount of the cost of the radiator.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to obtain this compensation even through the courts; the management company finds arguments in its defense. That's why it is better to consult with an experienced lawyer first when it is possible to present an account with the Criminal Code before starting a controversial case.

The main features of the process

Batteries wear out during operation, for better work the heating system needs to be replaced. But radiators are like common house property, at whose expense to change the apartment in the premises.

ATTENTION! If you need to change the heating elements in the apartment yourself, equip it with improved batteries, you can do this only with the consent of all the owners of the apartment building.

Now the apartment owners are launching large-scale work on the arrangement of their homes, changing the layout, the location of the plumbing, heating system in the room.

Installation of new radiators without the consent of the rest of the residents of a multi-storey building is considered arbitrariness. The violator may even be held accountable, especially if the heating operation is disrupted, its quality has decreased.

In the event of a pipe or battery leak change is carried out by the management company without fail... Also, at the expense of the UK, the heating system is being modernized if its service life has expired.

How do I get a permit?

Older heaters may not meet quality requirements. If you want to change outdated equipment for new, you should contact the management company or another authority that is responsible for heating systems in apartments.

  • If the replacement is carried out with similar structures, it is enough just to provide information about the upcoming installation works Oh.
  • Radiators of a different model will be installed, which may lead to an increase in the heating area? The representatives of the management company will carry out an examination in order to find out the possibility of changes in the heat balance of the building. The foreman will inspect the area of the house, new batteries, study their technical data.
  • Also, an examination is carried out in the case when a major overhaul of an apartment involves a change in the configuration of the pipeline.

IMPORTANT! It is necessary to carry out the work taking into account all the requirements of municipal legislation. In this case, they will not be considered a violation.

Often, apartment owners think about choosing craftsmen for installation work. You can call specialists from a private company who will carry out the work quickly using professional equipment.

But it is better to use the help of masters from the housing office or the management company, they know better the features of laying utility lines in the house, the location of the taps, they know how to change the heating without problems for other residents.

In the event of a heating system leak, there will be no claims to the apartment owner. It is also beneficial to contact the "local" plumbers, if the heat meter breaks down, they will carry out the work professionally.

The management company refuses to change the radiators - what should the tenants do?

He is engaged in the repair of the municipal heating system, the replacement of its elements within the house Management Company serving an apartment building.

She must monitor the condition of the risers in the apartment building, heating pipes, and carry out repair work if necessary.

Battery replacement is in progress is free... If there are shut-off valves in front of the apartment, it usually pays for the replacement of radiators home owner.

If the risers of the UK repairs unconditionally, then the UK often refuses to change the equipment in the apartment for free.

ATTENTION! In this case, you should write a statement for the replacement officially, register it. It is recommended that you seek the advice of a lawyer experienced in municipal law on this matter.

If the management company ignores consumers and does not engage in its direct business, a written appeal will become the basis for going to court.

  • Heating system - common house property, which should be repaired and maintained service company.
  • If you want to replace the batteries yourself, you should apply with a statement to the Criminal Code and order for the work of her masters.
  • Be prepared for the utility to refuse to replace the batteries free of charge if heating system shut-off taps are installed in front of the entrance of pipes into the apartment.
  • All calls to the management company need register, this can come in handy when there is a need for litigation.

Useful video

Starting a major overhaul of an apartment, you will surely come across the fact that replacing heating radiators is a necessary stage. Especially if the house is multi-storey and old - it is better not to risk leaving cast-iron radiators, because over time, the internal passage holes are still clogged (the quality of the coolant leaves much to be desired), significant corrosion occurs over many years of operation (in some places it starts to leak), and appearance with many layers of paint, frankly, terrible.

It's up to you, of course, but I'm in my apartment when conducting overhaul I didn't risk it and decided replace batteries for more aesthetic and reliable bimetallic ones. In addition to the above, I had three more reasons replace heating batteries: firstly, the supply pipes were all in fistulas, and secondly, the heating batteries, for some reason, were not located under the window, but were turned into the room. And thirdly, the prospect of filling the new repair with brown hot liquid, and even making the neighbors happy with the same below, is not very attractive.

In general, the decision has been made - it is necessary replacement of heating batteries.

The whole process can be divided into two stages - this is a preparatory stage, because how carefully you prepare for this process, do not miss even the smallest detail, the result and speed of replacing the heating will depend. Why is speed important? - you ask. But because if this whole process takes place during the heating season, and this most often happens in the fall - at the beginning of the heating season all the troubles come out, you will have to turn off the heating system at least along the riser on which the radiators are located, and the maximum depends on the availability and performance of the shut-off valves. valves in the basement (which are also 30 years old). In my practice, there was a case that the whole house was turned off, because it was the only valve that worked.

And the second stage is the actual process of replacing heating batteries.

First stage: preparatory

We will act according to the plan:

  1. We negotiate with the neighbors on the floor above and on the floor below.
  2. We measure all the required dimensions.
  3. We buy new heating radiators with fittings, fittings and pipes.
  4. We prepare the necessary tool.

1. We negotiate with the neighbors on the floor above and on the floor below.

Our goal is to agree with the neighbors about (from the exit from the radiator of the neighbor from above to the entrance to the radiator of the neighbor from below). If you manage to do this, it will be simply the most magnificent result. You can even go for the fact that you will buy all the transition fittings and pipes that fit the neighboring batteries for your own money. It will not be very expensive, but it is guaranteed to remove all eyeliner problems. metal pipes, will greatly facilitate the process and replacement of heating radiators in the apartment will never be needed again.

I was not lucky, I could not agree with my neighbors, so I cut off the riser under the ceiling and at the floor and switched to polypropylene reinforced pipe in my apartment.

2. We measure all the required dimensions.

Designations on the diagram:

1 - outlet from the radiator of the neighbor from above;

2,4,5,7,9,12,13,15,17,18,20 - pipe;

3,6,16,19 - corner 90˚;

8.14 - tee;

11- polypropylene faucet;

10- "American" cranes;

21- inlet to the neighbor's radiator from below.

If you have agreed with your neighbors, then you must:

a) Measure and record the diameter of the outlet from the neighbor's heating radiator from above (No. 1 in the diagram) and the diameter of the inlet to the neighbor's radiator from below (No. 21 in the diagram).

b) Measure the length of the pipe required to connect at the neighbor from above (No. 2.4 in the diagram) The sum of the distances from the exit from the battery of the neighbor from above to the 90˚ angle and from the 90˚ angle to the floor slab.

c) Measure the length of the pipe required to connect at the neighbor's bottom (No. 18.20 in the diagram) The sum of the distances from the exit from the floor slab to the 90˚ angle and from the 90˚ angle to the entrance to the heating radiator.

d) We measure the required pipe length in our apartment (the sum of the segments 5,7,9,12,13,15,17). Plus a pipe for the passage of floor slabs (approximately 1 meter). The diameter of the pipe is the same as the one that was connected to the replaceable heating battery.

3. We buy new heating radiators with fittings, fittings and pipes.

Knowing all the required diameters and lengths, we make a calculation for the materials. I will give the quantity and prices specifically for my case. Your data may be different, because sizes are different for everyone and our prices are changing rapidly. The calculation will be made on the basis of the size of the reinforced polypropylene pipe Ø20 mm, and 8 bimetallic radiator sections.

NameQtyPriceSum
1. Pipe reinforced PPRØ20 mm. 39-00 273-00
2. Radiator Radena 455-00 3640-00
3. Radiator cap right 30-00 30-00
4. Radiator plug straight through, right Ø 12 mm. 30-00 30-00
5. Radiator plug straight through left Ø20 mm 30-00 60-00
6. Radiator cap gasket 7-00 28-00
7. 25-00 25-00
8. Corner 90˚ PPR Ø20 mm. 5-00 20-00
9. Tee PPR Ø20 mm. 7-00 14-00
10. PPR crane Ø20 mm. 120-00 120-00
11. End piece PPR Ø20 mm, plank bed thread Ø20 mm. 56-00 112-00
12. Crane "American" Ø20 mm 288-00 576-00
13. Fum tape 42-00 42-00
Total: 4970-00

We complete heating radiators:

The polypropylene pipe must be reinforced (see photo below)

American taps are necessary to completely disconnect the battery and make it possible to remove it for flushing and revision. (see photo below)

A polypropylene tap is necessary to turn on the system when our American taps are closed and makes it possible to circulate the coolant in the system when our radiator is removed. (see photo below)

End piece PPR Ø20 mm. with an external thread Ø20 is required for connection to radiators at neighbors (transition from our PPR pipes into the neighbor's radiator) (in the photo there is a limit switch with an internal thread)

4. We prepare the necessary tool.

And the last moment in preparatory stage at replacement of heating batteries in the apartment there will be preparation the necessary tool... We will need:

  1. Soldering iron for soldering pipes. (Now many plumbing shops give them for rent. The rental price for 1 day is 300 rubles.)
  2. Adjustable wrench.
  3. Gas key.
  4. Drill with a drill for concrete (for fixing the radiator to the wall).
  5. Grinder with a disc for metal.
  6. Roulette.
  7. A pencil for marking.
  8. Level.

If you have the same situation as mine - (it was not possible to negotiate with the neighbors) you will need a lerka to cut the external thread on the pipe under the ceiling and at the floor. I also rented 300 rubles a day.

The second stage: instructions for replacing heating batteries with your own hands

Everything preparatory work finished, you can proceed to the second stage - to the actual process of replacing the heating batteries.

We draw up an action plan:

  1. We first mark the position of the heating batteries on the wall.
  2. We do a preliminary assembly of units.
  3. We agree with the housing department to turn off the heating riser.
  4. We crash into the heating system.

We pre-mark the position of the heating batteries on the wall

When marking the position of the heating radiator on the wall, the following points must be taken into account. Firstly, the distance from the floor to the battery should be 10-15 cm. If you place the radiator below, there will be poor air flow through it and it will be inconvenient to carry out wet cleaning in the room.

Secondly, for the same reason of poor convection, the battery should not be brought close to the windowsill. The distance from the window sill to the radiator must be at least 15 cm.

Thirdly, it is impossible to press the heating battery very strongly against the wall due to the deterioration of thermal efficiency. The optimal distance is 3-4 cm. The distance from the wall to the radiator is regulated by the screwing depth of the brackets on which it is suspended.

We do preliminary assembly of units

We assemble the entire heating battery - we put gaskets, we screw in through and blind plugs, we screw in the "American" taps and the "Mayevsky" crane.

We mark and cut pipes, weld corners, tees.

We weld the entire assembly up to 90˚ corners up and down as shown in the photo below.

How to properly solder polypropylene pipes I wrote in the article .

We agree with the housing department to turn off the heating riser

All preliminary work has been completed, the main units have been assembled, the instrument is ready. The next stage - we agree with the maintenance service to turn off the heating riser for at least half a day.

It seems to me that in the whole operation of replacing heating batteries, this is the most difficult stage. As a matter of fact, you, doing the work yourself and with your own hands, take away the bread from the plumbers, who will tell you what a difficult, responsible and dangerous operation it is. What knowledge, qualifications and work experience you need to have. Therefore, it can be a little difficult to agree, but anything is possible. This procedure cost me 500 rubles.

We crash into the heating system

The riser is off, the basement drain is open. You can start the tie-in procedure.

Firstly, cut off the old pipe with a grinder in 2 places, as shown in the photo. (photo of the cuts from the neighbor below)

We cut it after turning from a neighbor from below and from above, but along the length so that when the pipe rotates (unscrewing it from the neighboring batteries), the end does not rest against the wall. This will give us the opportunity to better grip the pipe when unscrewing it.

We cut it off in any place, if only it would be convenient to take out the battery then and its “horns” did not stick out in different directions.

Secondly, we unscrew the cut sections from the neighbors' batteries, take out the pieces from the floor slabs and take out our old battery.

Thirdly, at the marked places we fasten our new battery in place.

Fourth, wind up with a sealing tape and screw in the transitions from neighboring batteries to our polypropylene pipe and we brew through the corner 90˚ the exit of the pipe through the ceilings into our apartment. It is advisable to make the length of the pipe a little longer - with an overlap relative to the place of soldering into our heating unit.

And the last stage, we cut our pipe from the neighbor on top to the desired size and solder it into the 90˚ corner. We do the same with the pipe from the neighbor below. For the convenience of soldering the last connections, you can temporarily disconnect the heating battery from the pipes at the junction with "American" taps. This will allow the pipes to move freely.

That's it, the heating battery is new, the piping is complete.

We start the heating system. We ask the housing department to first open the return pipe - we fill the riser from bottom to top with a coolant while simultaneously bleeding air on the upper floor. We open the feed tap. The circulation in the system is restored. We check our node for leaks.

If you did everything carefully - I congratulate you on the victory achieved and the money saved.

Total expenses

So, a full cost estimate for replacement of the heating battery in the apartment it turned out like this:

As you can see, the main cost of the entire operation for replacing the heating battery in the apartment falls on the cost of the heating radiators themselves. If you hire an organization and do all the same work, the cost will immediately increase at least 3 times.

We can say that the operation of replacing heating batteries is not a very difficult process. The main thing is to think over everything well, prepare and do it carefully.

Good luck to everyone and less troublesome repairs.

Heating in an apartment is one of the main components of a comfortable life. Therefore, the question of replacing heating radiators sooner or later arises before each tenant of both a new building and an old house. But when to change batteries depends on individual circumstances and personal preferences of the owners.

Modern and highly efficient hot water heating convectors have made a real boom among consumers. Perhaps only the lazy one did not abandon the cast-iron fins and did not install new efficient radiators. However, what exactly are the reasons pushing people to replace old batteries in the house? Let's try to figure out how such a need arises and how it is better and more convenient to satisfy it.

Reasons for replacing batteries

Have not passed the test. Every year, before the start of the heating season, a mandatory pressure test is carried out at the entrance. It consists in supplying high-pressure water to the heating system - this procedure allows you to check pipes and radiators that have rested over the summer for leaks. The fact is that the pressure supplied at this moment is much greater than the operating pressure - from the leaks that arise, you can understand the malfunctions and, accordingly, have time to fix everything.

If, after crimping, you find a puddle under the battery or riser, then this is a clear sign that it is worth calling the masters and, at least, repairing the existing radiators. It is possible that for one reason or another they are no longer able to work for you and repairs will not help here - then you can think about replacing them with new ones.

Old age and deterioration... Perhaps the age of batteries is one of the main reasons for replacing them. And the point is not even that they are morally and physically outdated, but in their impossibility to fulfill the assigned tasks in full.

They may withstand the annual strength test, but their performance tends to zero. If you are dissatisfied with their level of heat transfer, spend standardly high amounts on heating, but do not get any result, then the batteries are probably worn out and clogged so much that they simply cannot heat you further.

New renovation. Some people replace heating batteries solely for aesthetic reasons. Agree, it's not easy to fit into designer interior a radiator made in the middle of the last century, while modern convectors are distinguished by their excellent appearance and the ability to fit into any projects. It should be remembered that in this case, replacing the batteries should be one of the first steps in transforming your home.

When to change radiators

Not everyone knows when it is more convenient and profitable to change heating batteries: in winter or summer? In fact, there is no definite answer to this question, since each season has its own pros and cons.

Replacing batteries in the summer. Since at this time in most regions of Russia the heating season is over, and the heating system is turned off, the work can be performed at any time, without haste and the risk of flooding the neighbors. It is worth noting the economic component: in the summer, both the radiators themselves and the price of installation services are cheaper.

In the hot season, it is much easier to obtain official permission from the management company and do everything according to the law. However, you will have to wait until autumn with crimping - therefore, it will not be possible to check the quality and reliability of the installed batteries before that time. Many do not risk installing new radiators at the end of the heating season, which is precisely why - no one wants to cause flooding of neighbors from below in case of improper installation.

Replacing batteries in winter. During frosts outside the window, many, as a rule, are stopped by the need to turn off the riser and drain water from it. In this case, you will have to remain without heat not only for yourself, but for the entire entrance. By law, all actions must be agreed in advance with the operating organization, since without their approval, no one can turn off the riser.

To do this, you need to write a statement to the Criminal Code and wait for a positive response. In winter, they are very reluctant to give their consent, but you can always negotiate directly with the plumber, who has access to the riser valve. He can also replace batteries in short term... If the master will do this, then you should not worry that the neighbors will have time to freeze - a professional will be able to cope with everything in less than an hour.

It is worth knowing that you will need to pay for disconnecting the riser. State prices have not been established here, since everything depends on the area where the house is located, its number of storeys and the price of water. There are also certain restrictions on this procedure: during the heating season, the riser can be turned off for a maximum of three hours. And if the temperature outside the window has reached -30 ° C, turning off the heating system is impossible at all.
