How to make a mousetrap at home. What is the best mousetrap

To help the hostess

Mice are the oldest neighbors of mankind. Rodents are to blame for many epidemics, as they can carry deadly diseases. Modern medicine went far ahead, but some ailments can still seriously harm a person. The appearance of mice in the house is a real misfortune. Pests must be fought immediately.

It is not necessary to kill the rodent, there are many humane ways that will help you catch the pest and release it at a safe distance from your home. At home, you can make tricky traps. They are safe for pets, small children, but highly effective.

Reasons for the appearance of mice in the house

Despite their outer shell, mice are quite intelligent animals. They go into little crevices, run through sewers, ventilation pipes are able to run through an open window or door. Some individuals easily bypass intricate traps, sometimes survive after being hunted, even develop immunity to frequently used poisons. To successfully catch gray pests, be smart and patient.

Human dwelling includes several important aspects necessary for reproduction, normal life of pests:

It is very easy to suspect the presence of mice in the house, it is enough to notice some aspects:

  • gnawed bags of cereals;
  • the presence of rodent feces on the floor, near the accumulation of food;
  • unpleasant odor;
  • in the night period, the appearance of rustles, noise, squeak is noted. During the day, rodents hide in secluded places, so their presence is hardly noticeable.

Finding roommates immediately engage in their extermination. To do this, use time-tested traps, folk remedies. It is not necessary to spend money on expensive poisons that can adversely affect human health, pets, even houseplants.

Harm from gray rodents

Danger of rodents:

Homemade homemade traps: how to make and use

This opinion is absolutely wrong. Rodents prefer pieces of sausage, bread, grain, which is poured with sunflower oil. Seeds are very popular among gray pests; you will definitely catch a big "catch" with this product. Modern mousetraps are compact, lightweight, but have a significant drawback - the mouse suffers before death, which is not very humane. Also, the trap is designed for only one animal, it will no longer be possible to catch another individual.

Note! Homemade mouse traps are absolutely safe, the caught animal can be released, the product can be used many times. In addition, traps made at home are made from scrap materials; you do not need to spend money on their production.

Catching a rodent with a can

Use cases:

  • option number 1. You will need a bucket or any other large container, a plastic bottle (0.5), a wooden stick, bait. Insert a stick into the bottle so that it penetrates the bottom and neck of the product. Place the bottle in such a way that the ends of the stick are attached to the rim of the bucket. Place the bait on top of the bottle. The mouse will try to eat it by stepping on the bottle, it will scroll, the rodent will remain in the bucket;
  • method number 2. Place a bucket under a stool, on it put a piece of light wood in the form of a strip. Put the product in the form of a springboard, put a tidbit on the edge above the bucket. A plate made of wood will not be able to support the weight of the bait and the rodent; it will fall down into the bucket, and the rodent itself will be trapped with it.

Pest control adhesive

Hardware stores sell special types of glue designed to catch rodents. Spread the product on a flat surface, the mouse will get stuck in it while examining the glue and will no longer be able to get out. The glue trap for mice is not suitable if there are small children and pets in the house.

Plastic bottle

Effective recipes folk remedies from cockroaches in the apartment are described on the page.

Go to the address and learn about how to deal with midges in the kitchen.

Helpful hints:

  • store all cereals, sugar in a glass container with a tight-fitting lid. Regularly inspect your supplies, the presence of strange objects, small black lumps is a sure sign of the presence of living creatures in the house;
  • Remove plastic bags from the kitchen. All products stored in them are potential food for rodents;
  • put several cloves of garlic in kitchen cabinets, bay leaf or onion peel... Specific aromas will scare off mice;
  • garbage cans should be placed as far as possible from the residential building. Empty the trash can regularly;
  • hang a birdhouse near the house, attract birds of prey with crumbs. For example, one barn owl can catch up to seven rodents per night;
  • wash all surfaces with a solution of water and chlorine (take a tablespoon of powder per liter of liquid). The strong aroma will scare away uninvited guests;
  • mice do not like space and lack of trash. Maintain cleanliness, order in the apartment, private house, eliminate all secluded places. So you make your home unsuitable for rodents.

Mice are intelligent animals, capable of reproducing quickly and causing mischief to humans. Homemade traps will help you deal with intruders. Follow the instructions for their manufacture, adhere to preventive measures.

From the following video, you can learn how to make a do-it-yourself mouse trap in a few minutes:

Attention! Only today!

A simple mousetrap made from a PET bottle is shown, but, unfortunately, some of the rodents can escape from it. Several improvements are proposed to improve reliability.

1.Installing the lid on the mousetrap

The mousetrap is made from two identical bottles with a capacity of 1.5-2 liters. In the first bottle, only a part of the conical part is cut off, and in the second, the conical part is completely cut off. The conical part of the second bottle will be the cap of the trap.

We make two symmetrical holes at the edges of the conical part of the first bottle for attaching a fishing line and hanging a bottle overturned by a rodent on this fishing line. We put a lid on the top of the first bottle and mark the centers of two holes with a diameter of 5-7 mm coinciding with the centers of the holes for the exit of the suspension lines. We make holes in the lid. With our own hands, we pass the fishing line through the holes in the lid and tie it to the first bottle.

Organization of pulling the lid off the table

Refinement of the mousetrap

If you install the mousetrap in this form, then when tipping over, the lid will not close the bottle in any way and will most likely remain on the table. A special pusher is required to move the cap behind the bottle. The pusher is made of wire in the form of a cut-off letter "P" width top shelf should be equal to the distance between the line attachment holes. The pusher is firmly attached at a distance of ~ 20 cm from the bottle to the attachment lines. When the bottle falls down, the cap placed between the pusher and the bottle will be thrown off the table by the pusher. At the same time, the pusher will optimally spread the lines for the correct lowering of the cap onto the bottle.

The work of the mousetrap is shown in the video.

You can simplify the homemade product by abandoning the pusher, but for this you will have to organize the suspension of the bottle outside the plane of the table.

2. Increasing the length of the bottle

We take a plastic PET bottle and cut off a section of the conical part, immediately make a hole in the bottom for the mouse to enter. The first revision left a bottle without a neck. We combine the bottles together, we try to achieve a tight connection and for the reliability of fastening we wrap the joint with tape. The result is a bottle of increased length, and even with an additional obstacle from the conical part. We tie the bottle, put the bait at the bottom and set it up for fishing.

Tests of such a homemade mousetrap are shown in the video.

Surely a good design will come out of two bottles with cut-off bottoms and one neck. The bottles are aligned and also connected with adhesive tape, the presence of a bottom from the conical part when overturning will further complicate the rodent's exact jump to freedom.

The elongated bottle allows you to transfer the battlefield from buildings to the surrounding area. We bury the combined bottles under the hole for the entrance of the rodent vertically into the ground (carefully so that the structure does not collapse under the weight of the earth). We put the bait inside. We regularly check the results, reinstall such mousetraps if necessary.

The topic of designing mousetraps is very interesting and will be continued.

The prospect of publishing a simple, reliable and very sensitive office floor mousetrap and an automatic reusable PET bottle mousetrap.

More material on the topic of mousetraps.

Small animals become a disaster for the owners of vegetable gardens and summer cottages, and often residents of private houses suffer from their invasion. Spoiled crops and food are not the main problem. Rodents, as carriers of serious diseases, can infect humans with them. It is not difficult to make homemade mousetraps from scrap materials.

DIY mousetrap - advantages

It is easy to buy a device for catching mice, only a factory mechanism with a metal spring is not humane, especially if a child sees the bloody result of the work. The disadvantage of such a mousetrap and the high cost. Poisoning rodents with chemicals is dangerous if there are other animals at home. In such a situation, it is more convenient to make a trap for mice with your own hands.

Homemade designs are much cheaper. They are made from any materials that every home has and it is not a pity to throw them away, which saves money. Advantages of a DIY mousetrap:

  • ease of execution;
  • the design does not deprive the mouse of life, but restricts freedom;
  • it does not take much time to manufacture;
  • mice are not familiar with the new device, do not know how to avoid danger;
  • in the event of a breakdown, another trap is quickly made;
  • safety for children and pets;
  • work allows you to demonstrate your skills to loved ones.

Types of mousetraps

You can do it yourself reusable homemade mousetraps, which are constructed from a glass jar, plastic bottle. The animal will remain alive, the mouse can be released not into the street or into the forest, and the trap can be used again. Disposable mousetraps are made from a glass bottle with a wide neck, where the animal gets and cannot get out. To release the mouse, the trap must be broken.

You can make various types of mousetraps with your hands:

  • using plastic bottles;
  • construction of a bucket of water, where the mouse can fall;
  • a cardboard trap with a specially applied sticky glue for rodents;
  • a mousetrap from a bottle or glass jar;
  • a slam-shut structure made of a pan, a vessel of a suitable volume;
  • the device is made of wood or metal;
  • a mousetrap-abyss, where the animal falls from a height into a bucket;
  • electronic trap.

How does a mousetrap work

Do-it-yourself traps for rodents have different device schemes. How does a mousetrap work? The trap's action is based on the principle:

  • displacement of the center of gravity - a bucket of water;
  • slamming - glass jar, cake box;
  • spring actuation - wood construction;
  • adhesion to a lubricated surface;
  • circuit resistance changes - electronic mousetrap;
  • inability to get out of high capacity- a jar with a paper lid;
  • stuck in a plastic bottle with sharp petals.

Mouse trap bait

You can lure the animal into a trap made with your own hands by putting bait in the mousetrap. There is a persistent misconception that mice love cheese. Numerous experiments have led to the conclusion that this product is not considered their priority. It should be noted that rodents love fresh and high-quality food, they will pass by the mousetrap if they doubt that the food is harmless. It is necessary to lubricate the device with oil or alcohol to discourage the smell of a person.

It is preferable to choose products with a strong aroma, soak them with sunflower or sesame oil. Best mouse trap bait:

  • smoked or salted bacon - can be fried on a match;
  • sunflower oil, preferably unrefined;
  • a piece of fragrant bread, preferably fresh;
  • sunflower seeds;
  • slices of pizza;
  • buckwheat, wheat, rice seeds;
  • smoked sausage;
  • nuts;
  • fresh or boiled meat.

How to make a mousetrap

To make a trap for mice with your own hands, you must first decide on the design, choose necessary materials... You can make a mousetrap using:

  • unnecessary bucket or container;
  • plastic bottle;
  • glass jar;
  • plastic and paper;
  • a cake box with cotton swabs and soap for the load;
  • wooden bars;
  • cell and electronic circuit.

DIY mousetrap from a plastic bottle

Craftsmen work wonders from this household item. The mousetrap was no exception. plastic bottle, which is easy to do with your own hands. The mouse, getting there, cannot get out, will stay there until it is thrown away. One of the manufacturing options:

  • take a bottle;
  • separate half from it;
  • on the part where the bottom is, make cuts with scissors about 2 cm long, equal to 1/2 the diameter of the circle;
  • sharpen each petal;
  • bend inside the bottle;
  • put the bait on the bottom;
  • the mouse will go inside, and the sharp teeth of the petals will prevent it from coming out.

A do-it-yourself mousetrap from a plastic bottle is performed in another way according to this step by step instructions:

  • cut the container in half;
  • shorten the neck so that the mouse can easily pass through it;
  • lubricate the inside with oil;
  • put the bait on the bottom;
  • insert the upper part inside with the lower neck down;
  • the mouse will rush for food, fall into the bottle, but cannot get out.

There is one more effective option quick DIY - a mousetrap that works without misfires:

  • cut off the end of the bottle at the narrowing point;
  • make a hole, tie a rope to it;
  • lay the bait inside;
  • place the bottle on the edge of the table surface - most of it should hang;
  • tie the free end of the rope or glue it with tape so that at the time of the fall, the container does not reach the floor;
  • the mouse, penetrating inside, moves the center of gravity;
  • the bottle hangs with the rodent.

Mousetrap from a bucket of water

You can use an old bucket as a mouse trap. To implement the idea, you must:

  • drill 2 holes from above;
  • pass a metal rod horizontally through them;
  • put on it an empty bottle with a lid, greased with oil - the container should rotate freely around the axis;
  • move the neck of the container to the edge of the bucket;
  • the mouse, smelling the smell, will climb to the bottle;
  • it will turn, and the animal will fall into the water.

You can also consider using a bucket for making traps with your own hands, liquid is poured into it by a third of the volume. A bucket of water mousetrap is done like this:

  • on top of the container, not far from the edge, a spoke is horizontally attached with an insulating tape;
  • a ruler or rail is glued to it at an angle of 90 degrees, which rests on the edge of the bucket at one end, and hangs freely on the other;
  • bait is put on it;
  • a bar is placed on the side of the bucket at an angle;
  • the mouse rises along it to the bait;
  • the free end of the ruler overturns under the weight;
  • the trap is triggered.

A very simple one-time mousetrap for making with your own hands, made from a calendar similar in shape to a house. In this situation, the bucket is placed on the floor near the edge of the table. The mousetrap is made according to the principle of displacement of the center of gravity:

  • the calendar is installed on the plane of the table top so that the edge extends halfway beyond the end;
  • delicious food is put at the far end;
  • the mouse goes to the bait;
  • the house topples with her into the bucket.

DIY mousetrap made of wood

For those who cannot regularly come to the dacha to check whether someone is trapped or not, you can make a multi-seat structure. In this case, a do-it-yourself mousetrap made of wood is performed immediately to catch several rodents, for example, six. For manufacturing you will need:

  • wooden block 4x10 cm, 40 cm long;
  • bicycle spokes - 6 pieces;
  • thin wire;
  • strong thread.

The process of constructing a mousetrap is as follows:

  • at the end of the bar, drill holes with a diameter of 2 cm and a depth of 1 cm - these are minks;
  • retreat from the edge on the same side 10 mm;
  • make a longitudinal cut to the bottom of the holes;
  • shift the line from it by 2 cm;
  • drill two holes with a diameter of 2 mm perpendicular to the mink;
  • perform one more drill with the same drill on the same plane, closer to the other edge;
  • roll a spring out of the knitting needle;
  • fasten a loop of wire at the end.

A mousetrap is assembled with the following sequence:

  • insert the free end of the spring into the hole on the plane;
  • hide the loop in the cut so that it coincides with the contour of the mink;
  • pass the thread through 2 small holes, fix the spring;
  • put the bait deep into the mink;
  • the mouse, wanting to have a tidbit, gnaws at the threads;
  • the spring is triggered, only the tail sticks out of the mink, which does not frighten other animals that fall into the adjacent holes.

Mousetrap from the can

A very simple option for making a trap with your own hands from a glass jar, which must first be rinsed well. For the production of a mousetrap:

  • make a paper cover on top;
  • fixed with masking tape or twine;
  • make two perpendicular cuts with a sharp knife;
  • the bait is suspended over the jar;
  • the mouse will want to eat it, stand on the paper and fail.

The can mousetrap can be done in another way, which requires a coin. An important condition- a large diameter is required, for example, 5 rubles. For the convenience of the subsequent removal of the mouse, the entire structure must be placed on the base - a sheet of cardboard. The mousetrap is done like this:

  • a piece of bacon is attached to double-sided tape;
  • fixed on the back wall from the inside;
  • the opposite end is lifted;
  • under it, a coin is placed on the edge as a support;
  • the mouse, trying to eat the bait, touches the jar;
  • the coin falls, the mousetrap slams;
  • the animal cannot get out.

DIY electronic mousetrap

For those who understand electronics, it will not be difficult to make a mousetrap according to the diagram shown in the photo. The design consists of a cage, on one side of which a slide gate is installed on vertical runners. At the top of the device, near the entrance, there is an electromagnet, in which the armature is spring-loaded towards the gate, and the tip is pointed. There are 2 holes drilled on the shutter opposite the armature;

  • when the gate is fully raised, the tip falls into the lower hole;
  • in the lowered position, due to the spring, it enters the upper one.

A do-it-yourself electronic mousetrap can be made by an enthusiastic person. A pointed electrode is provided in the far corner of the structure. Delicious bait is planted on it. The electrode and magnet are connected to an electronic circuit. The mousetrap works like this:

  • the gate rises to the upper position, where it is automatically fixed by a spring;
  • the mouse enters the cage;
  • touches the bait.
  • when the mouse touches the bait, the resistance in the circuit changes rapidly;
  • the electromagnet is connected to the storage capacitor;
  • the gate is lowered, closing the entrance;
  • the anchor of the electromagnet fixes the flap at the bottom;
  • an audible alarm is turned on, warning the host about the appearance of an unexpected guest in the cage.

Video: DIY mouse traps

They cause disgust or fear, in addition, they are carriers of a number of diseases, eat food and spoil the surrounding objects. The device for catching rats and mice, described in this article, will help to solve the problem on your own. A mousetrap will be made with your own hands using improvised means.

In situations where it is undesirable to use poisons, due to children or pets living in the room, and there is no time to purchase store traps, you can try to make a mousetrap with your own hands. The process is quite simple and does not require complex equipment and skills. You will need paper, different containers (buckets, plastic bottles of different sizes) and household items that are in almost every home (wire, small pieces of wood, school ruler, plastic bottles).

Many traps made from improvised means are capable of working autonomously, without recharging and are designed to be triggered repeatedly. Such mousetraps can be left when leaving home from the dacha (the main thing is not to leave the mousetrap for a long time, in order to avoid the appearance of a fetid odor). In a few days, there will be no trace of the mice, and nothing will have to be done or bought.

A little about the bait

To make a mousetrap productive, it is not enough to know how to make it correctly. Hunting cannot be successful without the desire of the mouse to go in the required direction, and only bait can provide it.

The opinion that mice are crazy about cheese is erroneous and refers more to stereotypes than to reality. They really eat it, and most likely they like it, but there are many best views bait for mousetraps:

  • Aromatic grains such as sunflower seeds;
  • Fried bacon or sausage (especially blood sausage);
  • Dry bread dipped in vegetable oil (sesame seeds will definitely not leave a mouse indifferent).

Varieties of self-made mousetraps

Mice accompany mankind throughout its history, and during this period people have come up with a lot of ways and devices to deal with them. Modern technologies expanded this arsenal, but some old solutions are still relevant today.

Plastic bottle

There are several ways to make a mousetrap from a plastic bottle, consider the most famous and simple one:

  • We cut the bottle 3 cm from the middle closer to the neck;
  • We put the bait on the bottom;
  • Remove the plug and lubricate the inner surface of the neck with oil;
  • We insert into the second part with the neck down and fasten both halves with glue or wire.

The mouse smelling food, penetrates the bottle easily reaching the bait through the oiled hole, but will not be able to get out on its own.

Alternative way to make a mouse trap:

  • We find a container with a neck diameter sufficient for the mouse to penetrate inside;
  • We tie a thread of sufficient length to the neck so that its other edge can be tied to something without stretching;
  • Place the bait on the bottom and place the container on the edge of the table so that it overturns with a slight change in the weight of the hanging part.

The mousetrap works as follows: the mouse, smelling the smell of food, climbs into the bottle and, with its weight, provokes its overturning. Since the container is tied by the neck, it hangs on the rope, and the mouse will not go anywhere from such a situation. In addition, it will remain alive, so that it is also a humane method of fighting rodents.

Electric mousetrap

Unlike the previous one, this method does not differ in humanity. An electronic mousetrap works according to the following principle:

  • We attach one of the wires to the metal plate (the metal should not be painted);
  • We coat the second wire with anything edible for a mouse and smelling strongly, for example, peanut butter.
  • We connect the device to the network in such a way that the phase is with the bait, otherwise the mouse will immediately feel a small discharge and may change its mind about going further.

Bucket with water

A mousetrap from a bucket of water is made quite simply and there are a great many variations of it. Let's consider one of them:

  • Put a wire or a metal rod on top of the bucket ( welding electrode the best option), it is advisable to fix it in order to prevent displacement or falling into the bucket;
  • We place some flat and oblong object perpendicular to the rod, for example, a school ruler. The ruler rests with one edge on the top of the bucket, the other is above the water.
  • To make it work at home, you need to put the bait on the edge of the ruler, which is above the water, and make it easier to lift the mouse to the top of the bucket by substituting a board to it.

Catching occurs as follows: the mouse walks along the ruler for food, and at some point the ruler overturns under its weight. In addition to a ruler, you can use any object, for example, a tunnel made of rolled paper.

Another simple bucket mousetrap:

  • A plastic bottle is pierced with a thin metal rod through the bottom and neck;
  • The food of interest to the mouse is attached to its middle;
  • The rod is placed on the bucket so that the bottle is in the middle of the bucket;

The mouse goes for food, and as soon as it stands on the bottle, it scrolls, and the mouse falls into the bucket.

Coin jar

A very simple and effective mousetrap can be made not only from a can, but also using any other suitable container, for example, a saucepan.

  1. We attach the bait to the inner surface of the can at a distance of about 4–5 cm from the neck (you can attach it to tape);
  2. The can is placed upside down and a coin or button is placed under one edge of the neck for support.

If a mouse starts up at home, it will definitely try to land the bait, and since the support is very sensitive (this can be seen in the process of placing the can on the coin), the bank will surely cover the rodent.

Glue

Do-it-yourself glue mousetrap is quite simple. To do this, you will need: special glue, a base for its application and bait.

The base is lubricated with a special glue for mice, which is sold at specialized points of sale. There is nothing difficult about the functioning of this self-made trap. On the way to food, a base is placed, smeared with glue. The animal tries to overcome it and sticks to the base.

The method will interest primarily those who violently hate mice. The reason is his complete inhumanity towards them. A rodent trapped in such a trap will face long torment. He will not die right away, but will try to free himself for a long time, wriggling and food on the sticky trap that bound him. And all is in vain - it is impossible to get rid of the glue even with the help of a person. In general, the method is not for the faint of heart.

Bank and sheet of paper

In addition to the can, any container can be used. Also, you will need a sheet of paper, rope and bait. The tricky trap is done as follows:

  1. We prepare a paper sheet, for this we cut it from the center to the edges, so that in the middle it looks like a cross from the cuts (there should not be an obvious hole).
  2. Cover the container with the prepared sheet, so that the center of the cuts is located above the middle of the container.
  3. We tie the bait over the center of the whole structure and wait.

A mouse or rat will go for food and when it is in the area of the cut paper, it will fall into the container. The disadvantage of this method is that it works flawlessly only with young individuals. An adult mouse, especially one that had experience of getting into such situations, feels danger and does not go further.

High-tech, computerized mousetrap

This marvel of technology uses multiple sensors to detect a rodent. A foreign developer, whose name is Jake Easton, has thought of doing this. This works homemade trap in the following way:

  • Special acoustic and visual sensors, having detected the mouse in the reach zone, set in motion the operating lever of the device, under which the bait is located;
  • The mouse goes to the smell of the bait, and when it finds itself in the sensor response zone, a pneumatic actuator starts, which hits the unsuspecting mouse with a metal bracket with a force of up to 50 kg.

The result is the same, even when a conventional spring mousetrap is triggered. The availability of computer technology has not made the fight against rodents more humane. Jake Easton called his invention "Better Mousetrap", which translates from English as the best mousetrap.

Wooden

A fairly simple and safe trap for others, but to make it you will need a drill, drills, a hacksaw and some skill in working with these tools. Step by step:

  1. We cut out a block of wood with a section of 40x40 mm and a length of 100 mm.
  2. We drill a hole in it from the end for the entire length of the bar (but not through), with a diameter of 25 mm.
  3. At a distance of 10 mm from the end with the hole, make a cut on top (2-3 mm) in such a way as to partially open the hole.
  4. Immediately after the slot (3 mm) we drill two through holes next, so that the thread passed through them blocks the path to the end of the drilled cavity.
  5. On the edge of the bar opposite to the entrance to the trap, we attach a spring with a loop opposite the slot.

The wooden mousetrap is ready to use. Catching mice is as follows:

  1. We put the bait in the blank edge of the mousetrap.
  2. We lower the loop into the slot so that it coincides with the diameter of the hole and fix the spring with a thread.

The principle of operation is simple: the mouse tries to get to the bait and gnaws at the thread, the spring is triggered and squeezes the mouse in a loop. This version of the mousetrap is reusable, in addition, there are "multi-apartment" designs.

Review and operation of the live mousetrap - video:

Conclusion

Using all of the above methods for trapping and destroying harmful rodents, it will not be difficult to put one of them into practice yourself. All you need is a minimum of available tools and a little patience. If the options do not seem humane enough, you can entrust the matter to nature and have a good cat.

Almost everyone is familiar with the situation when a mouse starts to scratch in the attic or in the basement. Despite the fact that it is a pest, many have some pity for the tiny creatures and do not want to kill them or hurt them. Of course, if we are talking about an attack by a whole flock on a barn with food, then there is no place for compassion. But in order to catch a single mouse, a humane mousetrap is perfect.

Catching methods

In fact, there are quite a few of them. It is worth going to a nearby hardware store and you will be offered a choice of several tools with which you can get rid of annoying rodents.

  • Live trap is a kind of humane mousetrap that does not harm the rodent. You can purchase it or make it yourself. A reasonable question arises as to what to do with the captured creature.
  • Special glue for rodents.
  • Ready-made glue traps.
  • Poisons. Of course, the poison works flawlessly. Another thing is where the rodent dies and how to find its little body, which will exude not the most pleasant smell.
  • Cat. Not always a reliable way, because some pets tend to quickly leave the place where they saw the mouse.

Adhesive substrates are the worst. The rodent will be alive, but its wool and thin skin on its legs will stick tightly into the composition. Therefore, if you are looking for a humane mousetrap, then this is clearly not your option.

We do it ourselves

If you are in the country and there is no store nearby, then you can make a device for trapping a rodent with almost your bare hands. A humane mousetrap from a plastic bottle will serve you faithfully. Any bottle of mineral water or juice is suitable for this.

Moreover, you do not need anything else to succeed. Open the lid and gently pour in a few tablespoons of vegetable oil. Lay out the bait, which is suitable for roasted seeds. The smell will attract rodents. This is a humane mousetrap, since, apart from slight bewilderment, it will not cause any concern to rodents. The bottle is placed at an angle. It is very convenient to record it with books. You can lay out several pieces as steps along which the mouse will climb into the bottle. Be sure to fix the edges with tape so that the bottle does not tip over. Otherwise, the mouse will just run away.

Operating principle

A humane mousetrap of this design is best placed on steps or shelves. In such places, mice are caught very quickly. The mouse is taken into the bottle for the smell of the fragrant filling. And back she does not get out vegetable oil... For the same purpose, you can use and glass bottle, for example, beer.

In this way, you can catch not one, but several rodents at once in one bottle. If one mouse is caught, then you can free it and return the trap to its original place again.

We catch the mouse with a jar

This is another simple mousetrap that you can do with your own hands in a matter of minutes. All you need is a liter jar, a 5 kopeck coin, a small bait, and a piece of cardboard. On a flat surface you need to put cardboard, bait on top and a jar turned upside down.

On one side, place a coin with an edge under the edge of the can. Choose a lure slightly larger than a coin. The mouse will climb inside and drag the bait, thereby moving the coin. The trap will slam shut and you can do whatever you have planned with the mouse.

The disadvantage of this method

We've covered how to catch a mouse in a jar. But this method has one drawback. If the rodent decides to eat the treat on the spot, then it can calmly leave the trap. Therefore, it can be slightly improved. To do this, it is recommended to attach the bait with tape at a height of 3 cm from the neck. The rodent leans against the wall of the can to reach it. It is at this moment that the trap closes. In this case, he will surely remain inside.

Plastic container

Today we are considering the most effective ways to catch a mouse. Not all of them can be considered humane, but after all, no one called rodents into your house. It is convenient to catch mice with a plastic bucket. To do this, you need to make holes in the container and insert a knitting needle into them. First you need to put a plastic bottle on it. It should spin freely and quickly. The bottle should be coated with a beaten egg or porridge. We bring a plate to the container, which will serve as a bridge. When the rodent climbs onto the bottle, it starts spinning and it falls into the bucket. It can be filled with water, then you don't have to think about what to do with the mouse.

The simplest design

Even a schoolboy can collect it. To do this, from glue and cardboard, you need to build a box with an open top and without one wall. In the side walls we make a hole for a pencil. Now we need a bottle with holes. A bait is laid at the bottom, after which the bottle is fixed in the box. When the rodent gets close to the cherished pieces, the bottle is outweighed - and the exit is cut off. Now little creature entirely in your power.

Tin can trap

You will need a regular can from under tomato paste or condensed milk. In any of its walls, you need to make a hole the size of a coin. In this case, the teeth should look outward. The rodent freely penetrates the jar, but the cloves prevent it from getting back. It remains to pour the bait, and the mousetrap is ready. Place these self-made structures around the perimeter of your basement or attic space, and remember to check them regularly.

Mouse repellents

All of these methods are good for dealing with single members of the rodent family. But what if they are constantly raiding your home? How to get rid of mice in the house forever? Today you are invited to a large number of ultrasonic devices that help very well in the fight against gray invaders. These devices do not cause them any harm, that is, they can also be attributed to humane methods of rodent control.

The effect is obvious, annoying rodents simply bypass your home. Exposure to certain wavelengths causes panic in mice. Sometimes it even leads to a loss of orientation in space. As a result, they will rush about aimlessly and forget about the search for food.

When choosing a mouse repeller, you need to pay attention to the following points:

  • A high-quality device in a private house has the function "Adjust the frequency of ultrasound". More advanced models then automatically adjust the ultrasound. This prevents rodents from getting used to it.
  • Don't expect one device to protect big house... Sound waves cannot penetrate upholstered furniture and blackout curtains. Therefore, if one device is enough for a small apartment, then at least two, and maybe three, are required for a house.
  • Be sure to specify specifications of the purchased device. Some models have a specific range to ensure they run smoothly. For example, if you decide to place a repeller in a cellar, it may not be suitable for low temperatures.
  • You shouldn't save on the device. Cheap models may have a limited lifespan. In addition, they can malfunction.

What you need to remember

To prevent rodents from visiting your home, you need to not only invent mousetraps, but also prevent them from appearing in your home. Unsanitary conditions in the home should not be allowed. Close the trash can and take out the food waste container in time. Flour, cereals and seeds should be stored in special containers with lids. Check the condition of the skirting boards, floor and door frames regularly. Fill holes in time through which mice can enter your home. Monitor the activities of services that are involved in garbage collection.

Preventive measures are most important in order to protect your home from intruders. But if they have already appeared on the doorstep, then you need to take action. To do this, today we considered several options for homemade designs.
