Master class number 2: Decorating a lamp from a bottle

A glass bottle lamp will harmoniously fit on a cozy balcony, without interfering with admiring the sleeping city.

To make a lamp from a bottle, we need:

  • Empty glass bottle;
  • Glass cutter;
  • Propane torch with fine tip;
  • Plastic safety glasses;
  • Sandpaper / sanding block;
  • Protective gloves, mask;
  • Liquid glue for decorating;
  • Glass stones for decoration;
  • A small lamp on a long wire with a switch;
  • Wooden chopik;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Short wire / rope.
  1. Let's take a bottle, clean it from labels. It is best to practice on a couple of others before cutting the bottle you want, since cutting glass is quite difficult.
  2. We carefully carry out the glass cutter along the circumference of the cut line; take your time - if the lines do not close, you will not be able to cut the bottle exactly.
  3. Next, we take the burner, best of all - if you fix the bottle on something slowly rotating, but you can just fix it tightly. Carefully start heating the cut site, do not forget to slowly rotate the bottle if you just have it fixed. After a while, the cut line will split.

There is an easier way to cut the bottle: we also draw a line around the circumference with a glass cutter, put the bottle in a container with cold water so that the cut line is covered. Next, pour a little boiling water into the bottle - the bottle will split along the cut. If it doesn't work, repeat with a new bottle.

The cut line turned out to be sharp and uneven - we will sand it with sandpaper. Wear goggles, face mask and protective gloves as a precaution.

Apply a drop of glue to the edge of the bottle.

We put a glass stone on a drop of glue and press it for a while so that it is fixed on the bottle.

Try to glue stones in a circle, under the very neck.

After sealing the entire bottle, let it dry for a day.

Let's take a lamp. You can use more powerful lamps to make the light more powerful.

See how your lamp works to avoid damaging the wiring. We carefully disassemble the lamp, carefully remove the wire.

We pass the cord through the bottle, put the lamp back, check if it works. We adjust the wooden chopik to the size of the neck of the bottle, so that it does not press hard on the wire and paint it white.

We insert the chopik into the neck, pressing down on the wire to secure our lamp.

So that there is something for which to hang our lamp from the bottle, we take the lamp cord and roll it up, forming a loop. We tie the resulting loop tightly with wire or rope. Glue glass stones on the neck of the bottle and leave to dry for 2 days.

Here are our bottle lamps that will fit perfectly both in the country and on the balcony!

Create so that the soul rejoices and the body rest.

D Good day, friends!

Today, I decided to make a lamp from a bottle, to be precise, a night light. This experience is completely new for me. I thought of making a lamp a long time ago, but all my hands did not reach it. In principle, as it turned out, nothing complicated. But I had to be patient, tk. constantly had to wait. At almost every stage of the work, the paint dried, then the glue dried. The waiting time stretched from several hours to several days. As for the rest, making a lamp turned out to be an interesting and exciting experience.

I called this work "Oasis" - a desert, sand, a lizard, a pair of lovers and eyes ...

Usually they say - the eyes are the sea.
But you have something wrong, in your burning eyes,
Perhaps I will meet grief today,
In your sands, so intoxicating from the heart ...

The desert fits into the pupil
No storms, no wind, quiet, sweet ...
Your appearance is a shrine to me,
Well, what's in it, I was so amazed ...?

Beautiful poems by Anastasia Borzova, and then, my prose

... ... and again, so as not to burden the master class, I had to divide it into two parts:

  1. How to make a lamp;

Today will be:

How to make a lamp from a bottle

To work, I needed:

  1. Glass bottle;
  2. A piece of chipboard;
  3. Light;
  4. Cord with plug and switch;
  5. Sand;
  6. Shells;
  7. The photo;
  8. Toilet paper;
  9. Acrylic colors - gold and brown;
  10. PVA glue;
  11. Acrylic lacquer;

For the basis of the lamp, I took a glass bottle from under the wine.

Glass bottle

At first, I had an idea to make a lamp - “Genie in a Lamp”. The composition, I saw this: the sea threw a bottle on the sand, a genie is visible through the glass.

I searched all over the Internet in search of a picture of a genie that I would like. But alas! I didn't like anything. But, there was a picture that, well, right away, fell on the soul. I printed this picture on regular photographic paper and cut out a square with rounded edges.

Picture

And she glued this picture to the bottle, according to the reverse decoupage principle.

I put this picture in a cup with warm water for 10 minutes. Then I took out the picture, put it on the desktop, picture down. And while the paper is wet, with your fingers, I rolled up a layer of white paper.

Removed the top layer

After I rolled up the extra layers of paper, I walked along the front side of the picture with a brush dipped in acrylic varnish. When applying acrylic varnish, small bubbles may form, traces of which will then be visible. Therefore, I tried to eliminate such bubbles at once.

Then, I put the picture on the bottle, with the front side to the glass. I moistened my fingers in water and again began to roll the paper, thereby thinning the layer. The edges of the picture, I deliberately, did not make even, torn. I did this so that in the future, the edges of the picture were not clearly outlined.

Attached the picture to the bottle.

When, as much as possible, I had thinned the layer, I took a wet napkin and wiped everything neatly. Removed spills of paper and traces of varnish on glass. I left the painting to dry out a bit.

Then, brown acrylic paint, began to tint the bottle. I did it like this: I applied paint to a simple kitchen sponge, blotted the sponge first on paper, and then “chipped” the bottle with a sponge. I started with a picture and then all over the bottle.

I tint the picture

Tinted bottle

Tinted in several layers. One layer will dry, apply the next.

One moment! From tinting with a sponge, small bubbles of paint are also formed. To remove them, I just walked over them, part of the sponge, where there is little or no paint.

And of course, on the side opposite to the picture, I left the window unpainted, through which my picture will be visible.

Looking ahead, I want to criticize myself. I needed to make a bigger picture. Because when you look directly, the transition between the picture and the paint is not very visible. But if you look into the bottle from the side, this transition is very visible, and this is a marriage. It's sad ... But for the future I'll be smarter.

Later, in order to improve a little, I narrowed the window a little. But she didn't fix her marriage completely.

Not tinted, bottle section

With a bottle, for now.

In order to make a lamp in a horizontal plane, I needed a base. For the base, I took a rectangular piece of chipboard. I asked my husband to cut out an even rectangle and sand the edges. Over the entire surface, I walked with hard sandpaper.

Chipboard base

Mass of papier - mache

Now, I needed a mass in which I could drown the bottle and which I could cover with sand. Googling, I settled on papier-mâché, the recipe of which, I liked most of all for its simplicity. I found him in the master class of Olga Yegupets, a wonderful puppet master. A video of this recipe can be viewed on the Youtube channel, here is the link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hoe1Dx3OrJk&list=PL7C00C05B3ED17917&index=11

  1. picked up toilet paper;
  2. flooded with water (just to wet the paper);
  3. squeezed out excess water;
  4. into the resulting, soaked and squeezed, mass of paper, added PVA glue and stirred well.

I make papier - mache

As a result, it turned out, here is such a mass.

Mass for papier - mache

Before applying the mass, I generously greased the chipboard with PVA glue so that the papier-mâché would stick well to the chipboard. She gave a little glue to grab onto the chipboard and began to spread papier - mache, imitating a small mound. In the middle, I pressed the bottle. But, in order not to stain the bottle, I thoroughly wrapped it in cling film.

Laid out papier - mache

And now, it remains to wait for the papier-mâché to dry. It dries for a long time, a week for sure.

When the mass dried up a little (after about a day), I pulled out the bottle so that the place on which the bottle was lying would dry faster. But this, again, was my mistake (((. Since I did not take into account that the mass of papier-mâché would dry out. The bottle ceased to fit in length. This can be seen in the photo below.

The mass, when dried, dried out

I had to fix the marriage, and at the same time increased the mound.

First, I cut off the excess with a knife, in the area of the neck of the bottle. Then, I again kneaded the mass of papier-mâché and laid it along the bottle, raising the “sides around the bottle. And in the area of the neck, I made a groove in which, in the future, the cord will lie.

I laid out the mass of papier-mâché again

And again, she began to wait for the mass to dry out. True, I waited a little less, it took 5 days to dry. But, having learned from bitter experience, she left the bottle in bulk. Only, periodically, she moved her, lifted her.

Sand decoration

When, finally, the mass dried up, she began to decorate it with sand.

Sand, did not buy. Slightly "robbed" the children's sandbox. Let the kids forgive me.))))))) I poured the sand into a deep cup and thoroughly washed it under running water. Dirt, I'll tell you, it was !!! It's time to think about whether our children should be allowed to play in the adjoining public sandboxes.

After washing the sand, put it on a baking sheet and put it in the oven for drying and frying. And after drying and roasting, sifted it through a sieve. I needed to separate small grains of sand from large ones.

Then she started decorating with sand. I spread PVA glue with acrylic varnish, in approximately 1/1 proportions. I already used this composition when I did , so I was confident in this line-up.

Then, abundantly lubricated the surface with this compound and sprinkled the surface with sand, pressing it down with your fingers. Pressing the sand with my fingers, I melted it in the glue and at the same time flattened it to avoid bumps. Left to dry. It took about 8-10 hours to wait here.

Then I painted over the sand with gold acrylic paint. I used a wide brush. The brush did not wet it in water, dipped it only in paint, shaded it on paper and passed over the surface of the sand. Allowed to dry again, dried relatively quickly))).

So, I made two layers.

The first two layers are fine sand.

In the photo above, you can see that the bottle does not fit snugly against the base. And I wanted it to be drowned in the sand. Therefore, I sealed the cracks. To do this, I cut a simple napkin into thin strips and glue + PVA composition, closed the cracks (the principle is the same as the insulation of wooden window frames, for winter).

I close the resulting cracks

She did not wait for the strips to dry, she began to decorate them with sand, just like the base. Pasted the sand, after drying, painted with gold paint. And so three layers.

Decorated with sand

Fine sand seemed boring to me, so I added a layer of coarse sand. Acted the same way as with fine sand.

Decorate with coarse sand

In the forced intervals of waiting, when the sand dried, I made a lizard. About her, there will be the next master class.

To make a lamp, of course, I needed a light bulb and a cord with a plug. I bought an LED light bulb (it practically does not heat up) and a ready-made cord, with a plug and an on / off button. I measured the length of the cord I needed, from the switch to the place where the light bulb would be. And she asked her husband to solder the light bulb to the wire.

Light bulb with cord

Using a hot glue gun, I glued the switch, ran the cord in the hollow, under the neck. And I stuck the light bulb into the neck.

I glued the lizard. How I did the lizard, you can see

Everything was almost ready. But I wanted to dilute this brown-golden scale with white pebbles and shells. She glued shells and large pebbles with a thermal gun. And small ones, glued on PVA + acrylic varnish.

Here, now, really everything, the work is ready. So, I managed to make a lamp from a bottle. By the way, when I connected the light bulb, it became evident that not all the places on the bottle were completely painted over. I wanted to fix it, but my husband stopped me in time and said that it was even more interesting. And I agreed with him.)))))

Lamp, from a bottle

And also, a little about what you can do with bottles:

  • You can, for example, take an unopened bottle of alcohol, decorate it with leather and give it to a man. For example, on February 23rd or a corporate holiday. I have such a job, you can watch MK. By the way, such decor is removable. It can be used in the future for bottles of similar volumes.
  • Or not throw away the bottles from under your favorite sauce, but decorate them using Decoupage and Paper Art techniques. And use these cute bottles for spices. MK of such a decor, you can see

Making a lamp from a bottle with your own hands is quite easy. Of course, not as easy as folding a paper airplane, you still have to deal with a drill if you want to do everything beautifully, but still not as difficult as building a chair, for example. We will describe general principle create a lamp from a bottle that you can customize to fit your own ideas. Good luck!

Required materials and tools:

  • drill and drill bit for glass, or
  • diamond disc for the grinder (if you plan to cut off the bottom of the bottle),
  • any adhesive material that can be used to cover the sharp edges of the drilled hole so that they do not cut the wire,
  • a garland or lamp with a holder (depending on your goals),
  • if desired, various decorations such as lampshades, etc.

How to make a lamp from a bottle with your own hands: step by step instructions

Cool the bottle first; this will make the drilling process easier.

In order to drill or cut glass, you need to be careful and careful. If suddenly someone from your acquaintances works with glass, you can contact this person; otherwise, do not be lazy to buy a glass drill: this way you will avoid unpleasant surprises in the form of a cracked or burst bottle surface.

After cooling the bottle, mark the point where you plan to make the hole. Be patient: it is better to drill slowly, letting the drill cool down from time to time. The same goes for a grinder with a diamond blade.

By drilling the hole, you have completed the most time consuming step of the entire job. Now you need to remove the sharp edges of the hole so that they do not cut the lamp wire. To do this, you can use sandpaper to clean the sharp edges, or any sticky mass - for example, plasticine. A fitted rubber tap seal is also suitable for wide openings.

The final step remains - either insert a lamp with a base in the neck of the bottle, or fill the bottle with a garland, stretching it through drilled hole wire to the outlet. If you cut off the bottom, you will need to pull the wire of the bulb through the neck of the bottle, leaving the bulb itself inside the bottle. In fact, the lamp from the bottle is ready. It remains only to decorate it: hang a lampshade, paint, etc.

And to make it easier for you to decide on the design of your future lamp, we have collected for you 27 photos of lamps from a bottle. Happy viewing!

Painted bottles for lamp

One of the main elements of the interior decor is a chandelier. Outward appearance it gives the room a special flavor and style, and with its lighting will create coziness, mood and harmony.

Today there are many different chandeliers, but not everyone will be able to choose something of their own ... Do not be disappointed, because such important element decor can be created by yourself ... For example, you can make a chandelier from plastic bottles with your own hands!

The very process of creating a chandelier is very simple, it will only require a little time, perseverance and imagination.

Tools and materials for making a chandelier from plastic bottles:

- plastic 5L. bottle;
- plastic 2l. bottles;
- wire;
- clerical knife or scissors;
- transparent glue;
- tweezers;
- candle;
- decorative decoration.

To start with 5y. the bottle neck is neatly, evenly cut off.

Then the bottom is cut off.

The height of the chandelier can be very diverse, it depends on everyone's preferences.
After that, we got a blank chandelier.

Their sizes also depend on the preferences of each, in this case the pieces turned out to be 3-4 cm on average. Thanks to the varied color palette of plastic bottles, with a shade of a chandelier, as well as their combination, you can safely experiment ...

After 2 liters plastic bottles turned into not a small pile of particles, they need to be given a peculiar shape with the help of a candle. To do this, you need to take one piece of plastic with tweezers and hold it over the burning candle.

As a result of deformation, you get a nice curved particle.

The bottom edge of the product can also be held over the candle for a bit, as a result of which it will also turn out to be wavy, which looks very nice!

Then, it is necessary to glue the resulting deformed plastic pieces to the surface of the chandelier. The glue must be transparent! It is applied in stripes on small area chandeliers.

After that, wavy particles are attached to it.

They should be glued rather tightly for a more expressive and "lush" effect. The result is a very beautiful "airy" surface ...

And when the lights are on, they shine great!

After all the pieces of plastic are glued to the craft, you need to attach a cartridge with a light bulb.

You can also decorate the craft with some small decorative element, for example, a butterfly from a plastic bottle.

That's all, the original "air" chandelier made of plastic bottles is ready!

The final view of the craft. Photo 1.

The final view of the craft. Photo 2.

She looks great when natural light and sunlight, and when the (artificial) lighting is on, it will give the room a peculiar glare and a pleasant dim light. Such an extraordinary chandelier will be a great addition to the interior of your room!

Plastic and glass surround us everywhere and very often bottles of these materials accumulate in a large number and clutter up balconies, garages, sheds and verandas. You can just dump everything, but it is better to try using them as material for creative ideas.

Even inexperienced craftsmen can create an original lamp with their own hands from plastic or glass bottles. It is enough to be inspired by the presented ideas and arm yourself with our tips and tricks.

Wine Bottle Table Lamp

Beautiful and unusual bedside lamps can be made from wine bottles, which can have the most bizarre shapes. The lighting features will depend on the color of the glass. Bottled lamps at original design fit perfectly into a modern interior.

To make a cozy night light, you will need one bottle, simple short garlands, masking tape and a drill with a special drill for tiles and glass. It is better to match the color of the lights on the garland to the color of the bottle glass. For example, for dark brown glass containers, light bulbs with yellow light (warm lighting) are suitable, and a dark blue bottle will be combined with blue or white light from bulbs (cold lighting).

When all the materials are prepared, you can start working. We take a clean, dry bottle and wrap its lower part and bottom with masking tape in several layers. Next, mark the place of the hole for the wire on the wall or bottom and drill with a wet drill at medium speed, holding the drill straight and firmly fixing it. If you follow all the recommendations described, then the glass will not break. When the hole is ready, it should be sanded with sandpaper.

Next stage - design decoration the walls of the bottle. Most affordable option- draw patterns with translucent stained glass paints. For these purposes, you can use a homemade stencil. With sufficient skill and developed imagination, you can depict something abstract. It should be noted that such a table lamp will look great even without additional decoration.

The lights of the garland are dipped one by one into the bottle through the hole, leaving the necessary part of the wire with a plug. The luminaire is supposed to be oriented vertically with the neck up.

Glass overexposure: interesting ideas for pendant lamps for an apartment and a summer cottage

For the manufacture of the lamp, you can use not only wine bottles, but also figured for cognac and liqueur or miniature beer bottles.

A composition of shades of different sizes and shapes will certainly impress guests. You can use a frame from an old chandelier, or you can fix them as separate shades.

The glass matches perfectly with a metal or wood frame.

To carefully and safely remove the bottom of the bottle, you need to wrap the bottle along the "cut" line with woolen thread in several layers, then tie the ends to remove the wrapping for moistening in acetone or vinegar and put it back on the bottle. After that, the thread should be set on fire and, turning the bottle, wait until it burns out in order to immediately lower the bottle into a previously prepared basin or sink with cold water. The bottom will fall off with ease, leaving a flat and smooth edge.

Another method requires a rigid fixation and a glass cutter. First, using a glass cutter, a closed cut line is made. In this case, the glass cutter is tightly pressed against the glass, and the bottle, sandwiched between the bars, is slowly rotated. When the line is ready, the container is immersed in cold water slightly above this line, and boiling water is poured inside through a funnel. As a result of such actions, the glass in the place of the notch will burst, and the bottom will fall off. It remains only to process the edges with sandpaper or a bar. Perhaps the desired result will not be obtained immediately, so for a start you can practice on not the most beautiful bottles.

To implement the idea presented in the next photo, you will need three identical containers of light brown glass. When the bottom is separated by the methods described above, you can proceed with the assembly and decorative design, which consists in random copper wire winding.

The next version of the pendant lamp is suitable for the kitchen and living room.

A convenient and practical lamp for lighting a country porch or a gazebo for tea drinking can be made quite simply and quickly from beautiful bottles of noble alcohol lying around. For economy, it is better to use energy saving lamps.

A street lamp from bottles can be made on the basis of LED lamps solar powered or using wax candles. Such structures are indispensable in places where it is difficult to stretch an electric wire. Glass perfectly withstands contact with open fire, so the use of candles is completely safe.

Pendant lamps and chandeliers made of plastic bottle elements

A pendant lamp made from a plastic bottle will be weightless and easy to attach. There are many options for how to make a plastic masterpiece, but it's better to start with the simplest. Consider a few basic manufacturing options.

Plastic lamps transmit light well and are reliable in operation. This is a great option for the kitchen of a private house or summer cottage.

For this option we use a 5 liter bottle and many disposable plastic spoons. The bottom of the container must be cut off. We cut off the handles of the spoons and glue them with hot glue to the surface of the bottle in a circle so that each subsequent row slightly goes over the previous one. To close the neck, you need to make a "rim" of spoons glued into a ring. Next, we fix the cartridge and the light bulb, as described above.

In the next version, cut bottoms act as a decor, which look like airy 5-petal flowers. Clear bottles of different sizes can be used, cutting off only the flat bottom. In this case, all the elements are connected with a rope or nylon thread and fixed to the base in the form of a cut off top of a large bottle with a neck. The assembled chains can be of different lengths, which will give the product a more sophisticated look. The top of each chain should be glued to the base so as to completely cover its surface.

White plastic bottles with a protruding bottom from kefir and other fermented milk drinks can also be used. In this case, we cut off the bottom with low edges. We connect the elements together with the help of glue in the shape of a bowl, placing elements of a larger diameter on top, and closer to the hanging edges of the bowl - of a smaller one. To fasten the cartridge and wire, we use the already described technique using the upper part of the container.

Bottle lights can be crafted from available materials at no extra cost, no special skills, and in a fairly short time. If you wish, you can try your hand at creating an exclusive plastic chandelier using an old frame.

Chandeliers from multi-colored glass bottles of lemonade or beer look very interesting and unusual. In general, there are a great many directions for the flight of fantasy.
