After the paint dries, the binder becomes transparent and the paint layer is very strong. Acrylic is used to paint various surfaces inside or outside the room.

Since acrylic paint is a water-based dispersion, it is diluted, if necessary, most often with water, which must be clean and free of impurities. For dilution, you need to pour some of the paint that you are going to use into a bucket or other convenient container, add a small amount of water and stir with a construction mixer until smooth. If it was not possible to achieve the desired consistency, then you need to add a little more water and stir again. After the required density has been obtained, a dye is added to the composition, stirred to obtain a uniform color of the desired tone. After that, you can start staining.

Important! The acrylic paint dries after the liquid has evaporated. After drying, the binder and pigments form a strong film that does not flake off, crumble, crack or wash off with water. Therefore, the brushes that you want to use again must be thoroughly rinsed with water until the paint has dried on them: after drying, this will no longer be possible to do.

Thinner for acrylic paint

One should not think that acrylic can only be diluted with water. Manufacturers of varnishes and paints produce special thinners for acrylic paints, which provide the painted surface with a matte or glossy texture, and also significantly accelerate the drying process. If you want the surface to shine after staining, use glossy compositions, but if a matte surface is required, use an appropriate thinner.

Acrylic paint thinner is clear liquid, which has a specific smell. It differs in the drying time of the paint layer (fast drying, medium, slow). One or another option is used depending on the humidity and temperature in the room: in hot weather, a composition with a low level of evaporation is usually used, and in cold weather it is better to use a solvent with a high drying rate. One of these solvents is Relocryl acryl used for acrylic paints, primers, varnishes.


By adding more or less thinner, you can achieve different effects of the painted surface: from a thin, transparent layer, reminiscent of watercolor, to a thick, imitating oil; from bright, saturated, intense tones to faded, muted shades.

Store such formulations closed in an upright position in cool, well-ventilated, dark rooms, in compliance with sanitary and fire safety standards.

Important! After finishing work, you should tightly close the jar with a lid to protect the paint from drying out. Before that, you need to thoroughly clean the edge of the can from the paint, otherwise the dried paint will make it problematic to open the container next time.
