Plywood must be cut into even rectangular pieces, for example, 20x30 cm. The workpieces are sanded, and then the assembly of the parts begins. It is necessary to form U-shaped structures from the sheets and put them into each other.

In the hallway, you can hang any required number of blocks.

The shelf is attached using wood pins and pre-drilled holes in the plywood. As a result, the product will look approximately the same as in this photo:

Tools needed to work with wood

DIY making

The simplest to manufacture are shoe racks. They can be easily made with your own hands using ordinary tools, materials, a visual photo for example.

DIY ready-made shoe rack

To create such a piece of furniture, it is enough to take:

  • 6 wooden blocks;
  • practical self-tapping screws with a diameter of 3 mm and a length of 25 mm;
  • self-tapping screws for wood processing;
  • special varnish for coating.

Creating a shelf with your own hands should start with the sides. The depth should be approximately 33 cm, which is sufficient for various shoe sizes. First, you need to saw off 6 even bars of 33 cm each. Further, on the workpiece material, you should evenly distribute four bars and make cuts corresponding to their depth.

Bars - blanks for shelf sidewalls

The optimal shelf width is at least 62 cm to accommodate at least several pairs in one compartment. Each shelf assumes the creation of four blanks of a certain length. After that, pre-made blanks are inserted into the finished grooves and fastened together with the structure with self-tapping screws. Do the same with the rest of the shelves, then carefully grind the sharp elements of the side parts with special paper. Each individual shelf will look like this:

Assembling one shelf section

The height of the self-made shelf is approximately 80 cm.The lower part is mounted at a distance of 25 cm from the floor, for placement tall species shoes. The racks are made of wooden planks, 80 cm high. To create them, a special cut is made for the thickness and depth of the timber (16 mm) at a distance of 25 cm from each other. At the top, it is recommended to leave 10 cm for the top of the shelf. Prepare four identical racks, then insert the finished shelves into the previously cut sections.

Connecting sections to each other by sidewalls

According to this technology, you can also create a wall shelf with your own hands, which is especially suitable for hallways with a small square. Ready-made options with photos are easy to find on the Internet and choose the appropriate option.

The remaining material must be used to make the upper part of the shelf. For this, special blanks of 33 cm are cut out. The top of the bars is carefully cleaned with sanding paper, but if possible, it is better to use a sanding machine. The finished product is covered with several varnish layers, and parts of the shelf are fixed with self-tapping screws.

It is necessary to use 4 self-tapping screws for each shelf and 2 top fixings.

You can create almost any shoe rack on your own. There are many photos of ready-made options on the Internet, but if you wish, you can experiment and make an exclusive piece of furniture. The main thing is to have a little imagination and all the materials necessary for work.

An unusual shelf for shoes made of plastic pipes

A hanger, a bedside table for shoes, a mirror - this is where the acquaintance with the apartment begins. Homemade interior elements look especially interesting. Today we will tell you how to make a shoe rack.

Types of shoe cabinets - signs of an ideal shoe rack

You can design an original shoe cabinet or use open sources. The second option will allow you to avoid mistakes and gain the necessary experience. A shoe rack in the hallway can be a simple two-row shelf or a carved chest with an advanced ventilation system. Today, on thematic sites, you can find a drawing of any furniture for shoes in the hallway.

Popular models include:

  • Open shoe rack;
  • Closed shelf - bedside table;
  • Tall, narrow or elongated wardrobe - "slim";
  • Standard shoe box combined with a mirror and a bedside table;
  • Dresser dryer. There are models with natural ventilation and equipped with ultraviolet lamps;
  • Open or closed shoe rack (popular with owners of large shoe collections);
  • Shoe cabinet.

You can make any shoe rack from this list. But how do you do it right? Here are the signs of impeccable shoe furniture:

  • Ergonomic The closet should be comfortable;
  • Versatility. It is desirable that the shoe rack can be used as a stool or bedside table. If you wish, you can install a mirror - you get a homemade dressing table;
  • Ventilation. Of course, there is no need to stretch the air duct system, install the supply and exhaust units. Provide air circulation. It'll be enough;
  • Design. The furniture should not "get out" of the general style of the apartment. However, this nuance is solved at the design stage.

With due diligence and care, anyone familiar with electric and hand tools can create a shoe rack. The main thing is to believe in yourself.

Basic model - open shoe drying rack

It is not our task to create another masterpiece for the Hermitage. This shoe rack will appeal to people who appreciate practical solutions no frills. This product is based on a classic dish dryer. Don't smile - it is comfortable and functional. You will see for yourself.

Such furniture fits well into the interior of a minimalist apartment. By the way, it is very popular with apartment owners and professional designers.

In a house where pets live, you need to hang light glass or plastic doors on the rack. They will not prevent the shoe from drying, but will save it from becoming a toy for a puppy or a sleeping place for a kitten.

A beautiful comfortable shoe rack is a matter of legitimate pride for a craftsman. However, there are several nuances to consider. The characteristics of furniture depend on materials, fittings and tools. To a greater extent, the material affects the durability of the product.

A shoe dryer is made from furniture boards - you can buy them at hardware stores. Do not forget to purchase accessories along with the materials:

  • Furniture metal corner - 8 pcs .;
  • Self-tapping screws;
  • Tsargi;
  • Door hinges - 4 pcs.;
  • Metal mesh shelf (quantity and size depends on your needs);
  • Handles (choose based on your preference).

The set of tools for work includes: tape measure, marker, screwdriver (hand drill), screwdriver, Sander(sandpaper), hacksaw or electric jigsaw, hammer and pliers.

After preparation, the shoe cabinet is assembled in a few hours:

  1. 1. Having drilled the sidewalls of the future shoe rack, fix the tsars, the ends, which also need to be drilled, on it with confirmations. With a depth of 5.5–6 cm, the diameter of the holes should be 5 mm, in the sidewalls 8 mm, but they should match;
  2. 2. Screw half of the corners to the lid of the product, the rest fixed on the back wall of the shoe rack will act as wall fasteners;
  3. 3. All elements of the product are connected with self-tapping screws. When assembling, check the geometry of the furniture - the diagonals should be the same;
  4. 4. On the front of the rack-dryer, mark the furniture hinges and hang the doors.

The distance between the wire shelves should be at least 0.3 meters - you can put boots on the lower one. However, for handmade furniture, dimensions are not decisive: the dimensions of the product depend on your desire. Shoe racks made of metal mesh will be more convenient if they are installed at a slight angle.

Wooden Shoe Rack - Convenient Simplicity

Later, we will definitely amaze friends and household members with creativity, but for now we are learning. One of the simplest options for shoe storage is wooden shelves. By the way, among the aesthetic ordinary people, such products are called the fashionable word "slim". But for us it is ordinary wardrobe s, elongated in height.

For work, we need a standard set of tools described above, a rail, furniture metal corners and several boards 15–20 mm thick. Two of them are the future sidewalls of the shoe rack, the rest will act as shelves. The height and width of the boards depends on the size of your hallway and the number of shoes. Products with a height of 90 cm and a width of 60-70 cm are considered standard.

Stages of making a storage for shoes:

  1. 1. Using a tape measure and a marker, mark the cutting lines. We need two side racks and several shelves (the number depends on your desire);
  2. 2. After marking, we cut the boards into pieces of the required size. Uneven edges can be corrected with sandpaper or a sander;
  3. 3. We fasten the corners to the future shelves with self-tapping screws, and then fasten them to the sidewalls;
  4. 4. The rail will be needed to refine the front of the wooden rack.

At the final stage, the product can be coated with a layer of varnish or acrylic paint... In fact, this furniture is the basis of most shoe racks. Let us prove this with an example. The next product is a two-section shoe cabinet.

Shoe rack upgraded to shoe rack

The master determines the dimensions and material of the furniture based on his own needs. In the manufacture can be used MDF boards, chipboard, wood, plywood. The last option is durable, however, at the last stage it will have to be treated with varnish or paint.

Our future shoe rack will be of the following dimensions: width - 1100 mm, height –700 mm, depth –250 mm. You can change them according to your needs. We will use plywood as the main material. To create furniture for shoes, we need the following details:

  • Lid and bottom. Two identical boards 1100 long and 250 mm deep;
  • Sidewalls - 3 pcs. (two external, one central). Dimensions: height - 668 mm, depth - 250 mm;
  • Horizontal shelves - 2 pcs. (526x250 mm);
  • Frontal facades - 4 pcs. (311x518 mm);
  • The back wall (696x1096 mm), for its manufacture you can use plywood or plastic with a thickness of several millimeters.

The dimensions of the parts are indicated with the required indents and clearances for sawing and edging.

Components and consumables that cannot be made at home:

  • Plastic sandwiches (shoe boxes) for side racks - 4 sets;
  • Handles - 4 pcs. (by the number of sections), self-tapping screws, confirmations, corners, minifixes, scotch tape or wood glue.

Add an awl, drills and confirmation bits to the standard tools and you can start assembling.

At the first stage, the box is assembled from the side racks, the lid and the bottom. Minifixes are used as fasteners. The next step is to install two internal shelves (fasteners - corners or minifixes).

In principle, there is nothing difficult in assembling such a product. By and large, this is a slightly modernized shoe rack. But with the installation of galoshes you will have to tinker. However, this process is described in the accompanying documentation. But just in case, here are the drawings:

The work is done in the following sequence:

  1. 1. Markup;
  2. 2. Fixing the shoe rack on the side racks. Make sure that its movement is not impeded;
  3. 3. Installation of plywood parts. Plywood plates are inserted into the grooves of the shoe cabinet, after which they are fixed with self-tapping screws or spikes.
  4. 4. We fasten the back wall;
  5. 5. We hang the front doors and fasten the handles to them:
  6. 6. The final stage is the processing of furniture with paints and varnishes.

Important! The dimensions of the parts are indicated with the required indents and clearances for sawing and edging.

The greatest difficulty in the latter version is the installation of a shoe cabinet. However, the drawings and diagrams attached to it will make your work easier. By the way, if you just hang the doors, you get a regular closed shoe rack.

What a great variety of shoes in shops and markets! The female half cannot resist buying another pair of shoes for a new dress. For men there is a choice of practical shoes and there are many of them too. How many inconveniences are shoes in the hallway? Where to store all this at home?

The solution can be found in a furniture store, namely, buy a shoe rack or do it yourself.

Some have a small apartment and a narrow small hallway, while others have a spacious house. Some live with older children and grandchildren, while others live alone. Hallways, like families, are different, so typical pieces of furniture do not always suit a particular room. A comfortable shoe rack, created with your own hands, will help solve the problem of choice.

With it, your hallway will be transformed into a stylish and comfortable business card at home.

How to choose the right one? First, let's get acquainted with the types of furniture such as a shoe rack.

  1. Shoe wardrobe.

It is very convenient in small rooms, as the doors open and can be combined with the main wardrobe for clothes.

  1. Showcase rack with doors.

It can be placed along the entire wall, the size of the shelves is any, but the disadvantage of such a shoe rack is instability.

  1. Slim-format wardrobe.

Such a cabinet has hinged doors at an angle of 45-90 degrees. And the name speaks for itself. This type of furniture is "thin", the shoes will be located at a slope.

High over-the-knee shoes can deform on such shelves.

  1. Kaloshnitsa.

Suitable more for a balcony. Shoes on such shelves dry quickly, but it is inconvenient to store.

  1. Rack.

It is the simplest design, but unstable and unaesthetic for the hallway.

  1. Cupboard cabinet.

The most common and practical shoe rack.

Advantages:

  • With steadiness;
  • M multifunctionality;
  • Compactness;
  • E aesthetic.

A closed shoe rack is suitable for people with pets. It will help protect your shoes from all kinds of damage from your pets.

For the curbstone, you can make folding, sliding and ordinary doors. So it will take up little space. A shoe rack made of chipboard will be durable and will not fail for a long time.

Wooden models are easy to make with your own hands, which saves the family budget.

Shelves and drawers in the closet can be made for any type and size of shoes. And on top there is an opportunity to make a table or upholstery with fabric, a shoe rack with a seat in the hallway will come out.

The seat replaces an ottoman or stool for easy changing.

Types of materials that can be used for shoe racks:

Metal and wood make the cabinet heavier, shoes will not breathe in plastic. MDF is a good choice, but not cheap. The most suitable material for storing shoes- Chipboard. It does not weigh down the shoe rack and is easy to assemble.

Today it is the most demanded material in the shoe furniture segment.

And so, let's dwell on the wardrobe cabinet made of chipboard.From the tools we need:

Parts procurement

DIY shoe assembly instructions

Chipboard thickness + Width of the planned shelf + Half the chipboard thickness.

For example, a part is 12mm, the width of the shelf is 300. It turns out: 12 + 300 + 6 = 318mm.

We do this from the right and left edges. Transfer the drawing directly to the inside of the chipboard and sign each detail where it will be located. Then, when assembling, you will not confuse anything.

When marking the holes in the height and width of the shelves, you need to take into account the rear part, since from this side the entire view of the cabinet is located in the same plane.

  1. Inside, the shelves will be supported by shelf holders. You need to drill holes for them. To calculate the correct location of these holes, it is necessary to subtract each thickness of the partition from the height of the rack and divide by the number of shelves.

To the result obtained, add the thickness of the shelf and half the diameter of the shelf holder.

For example, the post height is 600 mm. Two shelves are planned. Shelf thickness 12 mm. Shelf support diameter 5mm.

The calculation procedure will be as follows:

600-12=588

588/2=294

294+12+2=308

Therefore, you will need to measure 308 mm from the top.

After the holes have been drilled, you can put the shelf supports by filling them with glue and hammering them in.

Assembling a shoe rack according to a drawing with your own hands

When all the holes are made, you can start assembling for the confirmation. We attach the middle racks to the lower part, then the extreme ones. Make sure that there are no protrusions at the joints of the corners.We attach the covers to the corners, put the shelves on the holders and install the finished boxes on the guides.

We attach furniture handles to the doors in any position. They can also be attached to awnings, or sliding ones can be installed.

Decorating a do-it-yourself shoe rack can be varied.

Hand-made furniture always distinguishes the interior from other apartments, where there are typical dressers and wardrobes.

Shelves from furniture stores do not always fit the required size. Therefore, today we will try to make several original shoe shelves with our own hands.

The simplest shoe rack from old furniture

First you need to cut the boards into blanks. Standard height between the shelves - 23 cm. width should be such that both women's and men's shoes fit in it - it should be 30-35 cm. Depending on the number of family members, the size of the shoe rack and its height may vary. The shelves in it are installed at different heights: for children's and adult shoes, shoes, boots and sandals, a large shelf for boots.

Let's say we need to make a shoe rack measuring 100x35x46 cm.For it, we need three side walls measuring 35x45 cm, a top board 100x35 cm and three shelves 47x46 cm.

Shelf 100x35x46 cm

If the surface is too worn out, first you should clean the lacquer coating from the boards using sandpaper or a grinder with a special nozzle. Since this creates too much dust, it is better to carry out work on the balcony. Damaged places are putty.

Boards are fastened together furniture corners using small self-tapping screws 12 mm long. A thin sheet of laminated fiberboard is attached to the back of the shelf, which is used for revealing cabinet furniture.

Shelf fixing

Advice. So that the shelf can be moved close to the wall, at the points of abutment to the skirting boards, the lower part of the side walls must be cut off at an angle of 45 °.

Shelf made of wood or wooden slats

The principle of making a shoe rack made of wood is similar to the previous one. The only difference is in the mount. To securely fasten the boards together, they are drilled in the side walls holes for inserting screws... The same holes are prepared on the crossbeams from the end side.

The screws are screwed into the board in such a way that their heads are slightly buried in the wood for a couple of millimeters. Places of holes are leveled with sandpaper and putty. You can also hide the holes with plastic plugs - they are sold in any furniture store.

To strengthen the product on its rear ends, they are additionally attached metal corners... Before starting work, small irregularities are cleaned with a grinder, grinder or emery.

Connecting bars

Shoe rack made of wood

You can darken the wood with a water-soluble or alcohol-based stains- a dye that gives the wood a certain color. You can replace it with the usual one. potassium permanganate- it perfectly stains wooden surfaces. To make the coating even, the wood must be slightly moistened before painting. After painting, the product is varnished and thoroughly dried.

Stain treatment

Another option for a wooden shoe rack

Advice. A shoe shelf can be turned into an original ottoman if the upper part is upholstered with foam rubber and covered with a fabric of a suitable color.

Ottoman shelf for shoes

Original round shelf

1. To make a round shoe rack using a jigsaw, you need to cut round blanks... Their diameter should be about 600 cm. You can replace the compass with a nail hammered into the center, with a pencil attached to it on a cord. After cutting, the edges are carefully sanded with sandpaper or a sander.

2. Now we start making crossbars... They will need 8 pieces (4 for fastening between the lower and middle workpiece and 4 for installation between the middle and upper). The size of each of these parts is 160x200 mm. After cutting, they are also polished.

3. On the underside of the round blanks, mark the attachment points of the partitions. To do this, draw two straight lines with a pencil at an angle of 90 ° to each other. The intersection should be exactly in the center of the workpiece.

4. Drill on each line 4 holes for inserting screws. We prepare the same holes at the ends of the beams.

5. Now it remains to fasten the parts together and paint the shelf in any color or cover it with stain or varnish.

Round shelf

6. Such a shelf can be made angular if you use only 1/4 of a round workpiece.

Corner semicircular shelf

Hinged shoe rack

To save space in the hallway, shoe shelves can be hinged. Attaching them to the wall is easy. To do this, you will need a punch or drill, anchors (L-shaped hooks), dowels, a screwdriver and the shelves themselves:

Metal hanger (anchor)

So that the shelves are located strictly horizontally, we mark the wall using a building level; on the resulting line we place the attachment points;

We drill the required holes in the wall;

We prepare the same holes in the shelf itself;

We insert dowels into them and fasten the boards to the wall.

Advice. It is better to drill at a slight angle to the ceiling. In this case, the fastening will be more reliable, and the shelves will adhere more tightly to the wall.

You can also fix the shelves on the wall using metal profiles

Shoe rack made of metal pipes and PVC pipes

An original designer shelf made of metal and wood can be made in a matter of minutes. For this you will need:

Wooden, stained or painted boards;

Metal pipes;

Angle adapters;

Couplings (when using pipe cuttings of insufficient length);

Plastic caps for legs;

Rust neutralizer.

Flanges for metal pipes

First, the metal must be treated against rust with neutralizer(special liquid). Then the pipes are cut into lengths, and the metal structure is assembled using corner adapters. Pipes are attached to the shelves with flanges... To prevent the metal from rusting in the future, the finished structure can be painted or treated with a transparent or colored varnish.

Shelf made of metal pipes and wooden planks

This shelf can also be made from plumbing PVC pipes... To do this, they are cut into pieces of the required length, drilled into them through holes for fastening shelves, and corners, tees or plugs (fitting connections) are put on the ends. It remains to cut the boards or fiberboard of the required size and install them on the shelves.

How to make DIY shoe cabinet? In this article, we will look at the stages of manufacturing.

Slushy spring and autumn, dusty summer, winter with special requirements for uniforms - and now several pairs of shoes do not have enough space in the corner of the corridor.

Why is it more practical to do it yourself

It is always easier for a layman to buy a shoe locker rather than tinkering with it. However, there are a number of nuances:

  1. First, the assortment of inexpensive shelves is often scarce.
  2. Secondly, the dimensions of the shelves in stores do not correspond to rational calculation. The foot of the average CIS resident is still much larger than the Chinese, who supply most of the inexpensive furniture, assume.
  3. In addition, the height of the shelves is almost always the same. This is not entirely logical, since in winter people wear high-toed boots.

It is better to have one shelf with a higher height or hooks on the sides of the shelf to adjust the height yourself depending on the season.

What to consider when choosing material and components

Is it difficult to make a standard shoe cabinet? The obvious answer is no, not difficult. It is necessary to take into account a number of nuances before completing the drawings, purchasing material and starting assembly.

Let's take a look at the most important details of your future shoe cabinet:

Note: buying one standard sheet of chipboard and sawing it as a result turns out to be more expensive than ordering from a furniture store / production exactly the number of parts and those sizes that you provide in the drawings.

  • the shelves do not have to be made of wood. Take a closer look at the type of dish drainer shelves. Lattice metal shelves - this is the best option;
  • chipboard is a material that combines cheapness and functionality. Laminated sheets are sold in many furniture stores and small factories;
  • the back wall of the cabinet can be made of hardboard - pressed cardboard, which is often used in furniture production.

Designer notes

In order for the design of the cabinet to be practical, you need to take into account the peculiarities of storing shoes and correctly calculate the dimensions of the shelves:

  • the bottom of the cabinet should not be covered by anything, otherwise water will collect inside;
  • shoes need ventilation. This can be several holes in the sidewalls if the cabinet is planned to be closed (with doors);
  • the depth of the shelves should correspond to the length of the box from the very big couple shoes in the house.

How to calculate cabinet dimensions

Shoe cabinet sketch

Provided that the largest pair of shoes in the house is 42 sizes, i.e. 27 cm long, the shelf should have a "depth" with a margin - let's say, 28 cm.

Depending on the size of the shoe, the size needs to be varied. The large side of the shelf depends on the number of pairs of shoes to be put in:

  • collect all the shoes that you plan to put in the locker and measure how much space it takes up in a row;
  • consider the projected number of shelves (3 or 4);
  • lay a small margin in the width of the shelf.

Chipboard thickness - 16 mm. Accordingly, the outer width of the cabinet will be 32 mm wider than the shelf.

What do you need

It is worth noting that the sizes below are calculated based on the fact that the maximum shoe size is 42nd.

External dimensions of the cabinet: height - 1200 mm, length (depth) - 320 mm, and width - 900 mm. It is necessary to choose sizes so that they are close to the dimensions of standard parts that are in every furniture store.

In this case, the set of necessary parts is as follows:

    • 4 lattice or chipboard (according to your taste) shelves 864 mm wide and 280 mm deep;
    • top cover standard size 900 by 320 mm;
    • side walls with a height of 1184 (taking into account the thickness of the top cover, 16 mm will be the height of the cabinet) and a length ("depth") of 320 mm;
      frames (small parts made of chipboard) 100 mm high and 868 mm wide for fastening the structure at the back and front, called drawers;

Helpful advice: over the last shelf, you can pull a rope so that you can fasten the tops of your boots with the help of small clothespins: this way they will not break.

  • curly facades (improvised doors) made of MDF with a height of 1195 mm and a width of 447 mm (2 doors plus a 4 mm margin for ease of opening);
  • fiberboard sheet with a height of 1195 mm and a width of 895 mm for the manufacture of the back wall;
  • 4 hinges for furniture;
  • 2 door handles;
  • 8 confirmations (5 by 70 mm). Confirmate - a special furniture screw for fastening cabinet elements;
  • self-tapping screws 16 by 4 mm - it is better to take with a margin, a few dozen;
  • adjustable shelf supports: 4 per shelf.

Connection technology

The assembly of the shoe cabinet is carried out in the following order:

  1. The holes in the side walls for inserting confirmations must be made with a diameter of about 8 mm, and at the ends of the frame-sidewalls - with a diameter of 5 mm. The drilling depth is half the length of the furniture screw.
  2. Metal corners will give rigidity to the cabinet. They will also be needed if you are going to fasten the finished structure to the wall.
  3. Front hinges, corners, back wall must be fixed with self-tapping screws.
  4. Attach shelf supports, front handles and hang shelves.
  5. You can place the cabinet on the floor to sit on when you put on your shoes, but it's best to hang it up and find another use for the countertop.

Helpful advice: if everything is in order with the ventilation, then the cabinet will be dry enough and you can also hide the Internet connection in it. Then there will be a Wi-Fi router on top of the countertop.
