But the joy was short-lived. One of the beautiful days, the phone rang again, and all the same dad's voice asked: the car won't start, where to dig? It is clear that abortions are not performed by phone, but you can indicate the direction. Having received several good advice, and enlisting support, like: "If we don't start the car ourselves, can we bring it?" Deny good people difficult, and a few days later the car was dragged to us on a tie. It means that people themselves did not cope, and we are repairing the car.

Standard search procedures led to the fact that the problem was with the timing belt. Now is the time to move on to spare parts. The belt that was on the motor was unoriginal, it looked good outwardly, but it had an ambush. 1e. He was old. 2e. Unoriginal. 3f. It is not known how long he stood on this engine. Non-original timing belts are usually replaced every 50,000 km, well, a maximum of 60,000. After that, they either break or they cut their teeth. And sometimes it is fraught with consequences.

When buying a car, replacing an engine, or in any doubt, the timing belt is best changed! It is imperative to change the oil seals! Moreover, the belt and oil seals should only be used with original ones, and no third-party manufacturers! And the videos are already at the discretion of greed. You can't believe the salespeople who claim that the Bando belt, packed in a cardboard box, and costing 500r, is the same as the Bando, packed in a bag with a Toyota label, and worth 1600r. These are completely different things! What the company supplies to the assembly line and to the warehouses of the plant can be very different from what is supplied to free trade. It has already been written about this, but I reminded it once more.

Upon examination of the belt removed from the engine, it seemed a little strange that the belt looked quite passable, and its teeth were cut off.
Having put a new belt, traditionally, the engine was scrolled with a key, and it turned out that the camshaft wedged in one position. At first they thought that the valve was bent, but it looked not typical for this. By agreement with the client, it was decided to take off the head and see what happened. There was a chance that the motor bent the valve, so it was worth checking.

When disassembling the motor, we found traces of human interference, traces of sealant, and most importantly, the culprit of a broken belt. This bolt very much interfered with the camshaft spinning, which caused the timing belt teeth to cut off, and we sinned for his old age.

Taking out the bolt, examining the cylinder head for any other gifts and surprises, they tried to start the engine. He started up and purred merrily. The client was lucky, there was no need to disassemble the motor and see what happened there. And no engine repairs were required.

If the bolt did not cause the teeth to shear, then the belt would not last long anyway. With the previous replacement of the timing belt, the oil seals were not changed, and they became solid, and were already ready to leak. And the belt does not like getting oil on itself.

And how the bolt got under the valve cover, we will never know, either by the carelessness of a locksmith who was repairing the engine, or by the kindness of a Samaritan who threw a bolt into the oil filler neck. These are the gifts that sometimes happen.
