A hidden cabinet disguised as a wall. Hide in the closet soon! Seven ideas on how to make your apartment more spacious

Fertilizers

Very often we are faced with the problem of uneven walls in the premises of the customer.

We assembled a frame cabinet, moved it to the wall in the room, and an uneven gap along the back wall.

In such cases, we are helped by adjustable supports, which we install in advance in the cabinet floor. We tilt the cabinet so that the gap is aligned. Unfortunately, a gap appears on the front side where the base is, but as a rule, few people pay attention to it, if it is not very large.

It happens that the frame cabinet is installed close to one of the walls in the room with its sidewall. The wall can be curved, and even in the form of a wave. Adjustable supports will not help us here. Let's not distort the entire cabinet because of the curved wall, and if it is a wave, it is useless.

The client is very upset about the uneven gap.

We can take a chipboard slat of the same color as the cabinet frame, adjust its size to the curvature of the wall using a jigsaw. Pass the edges with a grinder, or close them with a U-shaped soft edge.

Now the gap is not striking, but of course it cannot be called an ideal alignment option. It is still noticeable that the wall is uneven.

Consider the following option for masking uneven walls with another specific example.

The sliding wardrobe is built-in, but has laminated chipboard sidewalls. Why did we do this? The walls are so uneven that the sidewalls are necessary for an even fit of the compartment doors, and the shelves inside the cabinet look more aesthetically pleasing than we would have cut them with a jigsaw under the bends of the wall.

How to remove the gap between the sidewall and the wall? You can use a plastic corner. In this particular case, we glued one edge to the corner of the wall, and pressed the other against the cabinet. They used liquid nails, temporarily fixed them with masking tape at night so that they would not slip.

In order for the second side of the corner to be pressed against the side of the cabinet, we used a second plastic corner in the form of a spacer.

Watch the video showing the result.

If you have, then the compartment doors will be skewed open. It certainly looks ugly and very depressing for the hostesses. In this case, we can advise you to do small podium for compartment doors. It is made of the same chipboard as the cabinet frame itself, but inside we installed adjustable supports. Watch the video in which we give an overview of how we did it.

Of course, this is also not perfect option and it looks cumbersome, but the doors in any position look strictly vertical without distortions.

You can try to put a strip of chipboard under the lower aluminum track and align it with pads. But we know from practice that it is difficult to firmly fix such a light foundation. Doors sometimes weigh 20kg. each and when moving easily loosen the lower track with the substrate. Therefore, we make such a bulky frame from chipboard.

The ceiling is a little easier if you are planning a wardrobe. The top track allows up to 2cm. hide the skew of the ceiling. Pay attention to the top track, it's hollow. The door goes into it and does not touch the very top of the track, it only rests on it so as not to fall out. All the load falls on the lower wheels.

If you are not leveling the walls at the stage of renovation, think at least about the places where the future furniture will adjoin. Maybe it is worth aligning the walls, floor and ceiling at the junctions with the frame?

Unfortunately, many leave this question for later, arguing something like this - later we will come up with something, furniture makers will prompt, we are not the only ones doing this ...

Later you will not solve this problem, everything will come out and if the skew is serious, then the curvature will be very noticeable. Furniture is also expensive now, for ten thousand nice wardrobe no longer buy. You will spend ≈40-120 thousand on a wardrobe and get cracks that ruin the whole experience.

Modern storage furniture differs from classic designs, for example, cabinets are now more functional. The well-known wardrobe is able to accommodate the entire family wardrobe, if you think over its filling correctly: the number and size of sections, the presence of several rods, and boxes for linen.

At the same time, the question may arise where it is better to install a wardrobe, because such an object is likely to be quite impressive in size. Next, we will show you what techniques will help you visually make a bulky (wide, high) wardrobe more invisible in the interior.

How to hide a wardrobe

Take a critical look at the room in order to correctly assess its disadvantages and advantages - they will tell you the best area for placing a wardrobe.

As an example, in a rectangular room, it is better to install a wardrobe near one of the short walls - the length of the room will be somewhat reduced, and the atmosphere will become more comfortable. If, on the contrary, you place a closet along a long wall, the room will seem even narrower, resembling a corridor, in which it will be less pleasant to live.

1. To match the walls

When choosing a wardrobe configuration, its size and content, do not forget about the facades of those same sliding doors. In order for a large object to better fit into the interior of the room, you should choose to make it so that the color of the cabinet almost merges with the shade of the adjacent walls.

For example, beige walls- cream or sand facades, although you can experiment with the texture of the door material so that they shimmer with a soft sheen against the background of a matte surface.

2. Behind the mirrored facades

Even if the space of the room in which the large wardrobe is installed is sufficient for free movement of the rest of the furniture, an oppressive feeling may arise. In this case, mirrors on the facades of sliding doors will be appropriate - they will visually lighten a bulky wardrobe, make the space lighter and brighter.

A similar design option for a wardrobe is especially suitable for small rooms, such as hallways: everything superfluous is hidden and, in general, the design is even more functional.

3. Embed in a niche

It is better to hide a large piece of furniture, such as a wardrobe, in a niche, if there is one in the room. Ideally, the structure should initially be ordered according to the parameters of the niche - the useful area of the room will be saved, and the space will become more thoughtful and functional.

Perhaps your apartment has a small utility room like a pantry, which means that it is this one that can be transformed by simply building a wardrobe here. Often, such pantries are located near bedrooms or hallways, therefore, a wardrobe built next to them will be a very convenient purchase.

4. In the entrance area

You can hide a voluminous wardrobe by mounting its structure on the sides (or on one side) from front door to the living room or bedroom. Getting into the room, each time you will leave the closet behind visually, and the main part of the room will acquire volume, being freed from unnecessary pieces of furniture.

For a wardrobe area with a wardrobe, it is better to use the entire wall area around the doors from floor to ceiling, including above the opening. This simple technique will create the illusion of a solid wall protruding slightly above the entrance to the room.

5. Transfer to the loggia

Placing a wardrobe outside the room, if this option is possible in your apartment, will be most effective if you need to hide furniture or free up useful space.

It is worth noting that most of the average loggias do not differ in significant dimensions, which means that if your wardrobe is quite wide, there can be no question of placing it on the loggia. If you just have to order the design of a wardrobe according to an individual sketch, we recommend that you consider the option with a loggia, and measure its end walls.

6. Decorate

In order to make a large sliding wardrobe more invisible, or to successfully fit it into the interior of the room, you can order a special design of the door facades, which will attract attention in the first place.

For example, perspective images, panoramas of cities, streets and other areas look beautiful and unusual. Such pictures on the doors of the cabinet will visually take you beyond its borders, and can become one of the main decorations of the room.

Also, for the facades of sliding doors, the characteristic texture of wood, metal, glass can be used. Externally, the wardrobe will become a continuation and the best addition to the image and style of the interior, while remaining, at the same time, quite inconspicuous, integrated.

Decorate

In order to make a large sliding wardrobe more invisible, or to successfully fit it into the interior of the room, you can order a special design of the door facades, which will attract attention in the first place.

Since the doors to open the cabinet move apart like a carriage compartment, they do not need a place to open. Consequently, sliding wardrobes can turn out to be a very ergonomic way to organize or a hallway - this property allows you to use the entire area of the room to the maximum. And the architecture of the layout can help in this: for example, a sliding wardrobe built into a niche is very convenient, where the walls and ceiling of the room itself will serve as its walls and ceiling.

2 Fill in the corners

Often the room is small, and its corners are not used very rationally or are empty. In this case, your option is compact corner wardrobe... It does not take up much space, but due to the angle it forms so capacious that everything you need can fit there (and even more). If you expand a little standard sizes such a cabinet, it can turn into a real one.

3 Add footage visually

A sliding wardrobe with mirrored sliders will allow not only to correctly “hide” it in the space of the room, but also help due to reflections. Install mirrored wardrobes so that the doors reflect daylight, and the room will acquire new volumes and perspectives.

4 Order a custom wardrobe

In some cases, an interesting cabinet design or a drawing on its facades will fit especially organically into the space of the room. The rounded version of the cabinet itself doesn't attract too much attention as well. The ornament, in its own way, disguises the wardrobe under the wall.

5 Strive for minimalism

If the room itself is small, and the wardrobe occupies the entire or almost the entire wall, just give up the intricate decor, photo prints on the doors or accent dark colors... Choose a wardrobe with the lightest, sleekest, most laconic facades - this is how it will look the most light and unobtrusive.

A glossy or matte lacquer finish will reflect light sources and make the room appear more voluminous.

6 Create a window effect

An interesting and non-standard technique is a snag in the form of a window to the floor, supposedly closed by blinds, behind which there is actually a wardrobe. Instead of doors, it has shutters-shutters, tinted under teak: if you wish, you can make them in the manner of a coupe. The effect of breaking through daylight is provided by lighting in the closet itself. Great, isn't it?
