When hands grow from the right place, life is more fun :)

In the summer, many people think about how to choose a floor air conditioner for an apartment in order to make it easier to stay in living quarters during the heat. A properly selected device will not take up much space, will work silently and flawlessly, cooling the air to the desired temperature. Any person needs to know about the choice of equipment and the rules for its operation.

How does a mobile air conditioner work without an air duct

Homeowners who move frequently choose a portable air conditioner for their apartment. It does not look bulky, has excellent ergonomic and performance characteristics when compared with stationary split systems. Most models have heating and cooling modes, can adjust the temperature using the remote control or buttons on the front.

There are varieties of floor-type air conditioners that have antibacterial air purification, filtration and ionization functions. The principle of quiet operation of models is characteristic of many modifications: a cooling agent in different states (liquid, gaseous) can simultaneously give and receive heat. These air conditioners have a lower part where the water container is located. How it works:

  1. Water from the tank is pumped by a small pump, supplied to wet the porous filter.
  2. The fan takes in warm air, directing it to the already wet porous filter, processing and cooling it.
  3. On the surface of the filter, there are water molecules that turn into a gas state.
  4. An important advantage: for such models, an outdoor unit is not needed, which is carried out outside the building to the street, as well as there are no air duct hoses.

A stationary split system or a mobile monoblock, which consumers like to install, is a complex scheme - it consists of an air intake, a cooling unit where the air is cooled by a refrigerant, a heat removal unit for generating heat from the air and a compressor for pumping freon. A complex system requires installation by a competent specialist, constant performance checks and periodic cleaning of all components.

How effective are portable air conditioners for a house without an air duct

When purchasing a small air conditioner for a room, buyers are wondering about its effectiveness. To this, manufacturers respond that efficiency and performance increase with increasing ambient temperature. A ductless floor standing air conditioner in a home often has an ice box. Even with the strongest heat, such a device effectively cools the air, passing it through a special compartment. Plain cold water can be used instead of ice.

For small houses or offices, a mobile floor-standing air conditioner will suit like no other - it will effectively cool the available area, while not causing inconvenience in use. For a large room, you will need a more powerful device - a standard split system installed on the ceiling, or a climate complex, which also includes air washing in its functions.

What are the advantages of mobile air conditioners without an air duct

If you buy a portable air conditioner for your home without an air duct, you should know its advantages and features:

  • ease of household operation - no need to clean hoses, take care of the environment;
  • safety - there is no freon and refrigerants in the cooler;
  • mobility - easily moves from place to place, transported in transport;
  • small size - suitable for a small office or home;
  • minimum weight (for models in a plastic case - up to 6 kg);
  • silent operation;
  • ease of installation;
  • no condensation is formed;
  • low power consumption.

Cons of mobile floor models without an air duct:

  • the need to periodically add water;
  • high price;
  • for better work in the house, you need to ensure a constant supply of air, for the office you need a system of supply and exhaust ventilation.

How to choose a mobile air conditioner for an apartment

To choose the right floor air conditioner for a house without an air duct, you need to consider the following parameters:

  • desired price - the willingness to spend money on a more expensive model or the ability to get by with a cheap one;
  • the volume of the room where the device is installed - the larger it is, the worse the equipment will work;
  • the need for air humidification - mobile compact models do not have this property;
  • whether the manufacturer is trusted - recognizable brands are more expensive in price, but guarantee high quality compared to unknown low-cost brands.

The price of a mobile air conditioner for a home without an air duct

Modern floor-standing air conditioner models for a home without an air duct can be bought in an online store, ordered in a catalog through branded electrical engineering departments (Eldorado, M-video) or purchased at a low price. Quick solutions are good - used devices purchased "from hand" through the Avito website. The cost of various brands will be as follows - the prices are approximate (in rubles).

A mobile air conditioner will create a comfortable atmosphere where it is impossible to use stationary devices. Such a device can be moved during operation. This advantage makes its acquisition relevant for such objects as retail space, office buildings and other buildings with historical and cultural value. However, it will serve well in a residential area. Therefore, the urgent question is: how to choose the right mobile air conditioner for an apartment?

The idea of a portable device for air conditioning in the room is reflected in the following design solutions:

  • monoblock;
  • floor split;
  • window climate control.

Simple outdoor option

In its first interpretation, climate technology is the popular floor-standing air conditioners. Here all the elements of the device are located in one building, which is simply placed on the floor in any convenient place. True, the corrugation that removes warm air must be taken outside.

Such units, as a rule, have convenient wheels for transportation, protective systems and control panels.

Like any device, it has its pros and cons. Let's start with the first - among the bonuses:

  • simple installation;
  • high level of mobility;
  • complete lack of built-in communications;
  • condensate is collected in a special container;
  • possibility of installation in any place;
  • aesthetic look.

And here are the disadvantages:

  • devices are rather bulky;
  • high price;
  • the need to create special ventilation hole for air duct.

Split system without installation

Among the latest developments are mobile split systems. These devices without an air duct do not require laying special communications - the outdoor unit can be placed, for example, on a balcony. Among the indisputable advantages are the quick installation of the unit, simple movement and performance indicators that are more efficient than other mono-analogues. As for the absence of corrugations, instead of it, freon line.

But there are also disadvantages - the location of the outdoor unit should be thought out in advance. In addition, the container for collecting condensate in the device will need to be constantly cleaned. And the short length of that same freon line simply will not allow the blocks to be placed too far from each other.

Old window air conditioner

This device received a mobility rating, of course, with a stretch. Although one of its main advantages is that the device works without duct. If necessary, you can quickly and easily dismantle. Other pluses are availability, long service life and the possibility of removal.

However, the solution is deprecated. And not the last role here was played by the fact that it limits the view and lighting. The unit simply looks unaesthetic compared to existing modern models. It is advisable to install it in non-residential premises.

Important Device Selection Criteria

To understand how to choose a floor air conditioner for an apartment, you need to pay attention to a number of relevant parameters. Among these characteristics are the following:

  • power;
  • consumed power indicator;
  • noise level;
  • the possibility of heating;
  • inverter in the motor;
  • additional features at work.

Appliance power

To determine the potential area of influence, it is necessary to select the maximum power of the device. Usually, such data is provided by the manufacturer himself, taking as a basis for his calculations, in addition to the area of the room, also its volume. Guided by the formula "room area * height * heat sources", you can choose the best air conditioner: too powerful will be expensive and very inconvenient to operate, and a weak one simply will not cope with the tasks assigned to it.

Another important criterion is power consumption. This is the amount of energy that the device takes for its work. The power consumption indicator also reveals the efficiency of the device used, as well as the load that it puts on the wiring. It is worth paying attention to the fact that this characteristic should be three times less than the cooling capacity.

It will be important to pay attention to the type of glazing of the room. If doors are constantly opened and closed here, then you need to choose a model with a capacity of 30% more than the calculated one.

Noise level

This characteristic is also very important for the home, because the user can design its installation in the bedroom or children's room. If the unit exceeds the permissible decibels, it will not be very comfortable to coexist with the device. As a rule, mobile units are characterized noise level 50-55 dB, some manufacturers indicate the minimum value of this indicator. In fact, the noise level of the system depends on what mode it is in. Naturally, at the maximum intensity of cooling and the noise of the equipment will be stronger.

Heating mode

It is better to immediately focus on the purchase of a device that has a heating mode. This feature will be useful both in the office and in the living room. Such a mobile air conditioner is especially valuable during the off-season, when the central heating has not yet been launched.

Useful options

Register here immediately inverter motor. It is this technology that reduces the load on the power grid due to the smooth regulation of temperature. In addition, inverter air conditioning prolongs the life of appliances.

Other useful features include - humidity mode. It is especially important if the room is below ground level or has high humidity. In such cases, such a setting becomes very relevant.

In mobile models, there may be such interesting additional settings as dehumidification and ventilation of air, odor elimination, dust removal.

Mobile air conditioner ELECTROLUX EACM-16 EZ/N3 ECO SERIES

Some options will help saturate the surrounding area with beneficial nutrients. In another technique, fan speed control reduces fan noise during nighttime use. In most modern proposals, this technique is perfectly customizable to the needs of each user.

Design Issues

In addition to all of the above, for such a unit it is worth considering in advance installation location. As a rule, a mobile air conditioner or similar split system is more suitable for those buildings on the facade of which it is not allowed to install foreign objects (for example, if the user lives in a house on the main street of the city).

Now let's take a look at the room itself. Since we choose climate equipment in a residential area, it is worth paying attention to dimensions and weight of the device. The unit should not be bulky (which is especially true for small apartments). It is also important that it can be easily rolled (carried) from place to place.

Which manufacturers to pay attention to

When choosing a device, it is important to pay attention to the brand of future climate technology. And here, Electrolux and Ballu trademarks received good user reviews about floor air conditioners. In addition to their relatively reasonable price from 15,000 to 20,000 rubles, the devices can also be equipped with a number of useful additional functions.

Other manufacturers include AEG, DeLonghi, Whirpool. In most cases, all these devices have an elegant and simple design that will fit perfectly into any interior. The difference in any portable unit will be visible only in the presence of any additional features(for example, ionization or air purification).

So, the criteria for choosing mobile climate control equipment are based, first of all, on the addition of its main indicators - power and ease of use. For a living space, it is better to choose a modern device that can cool (or heat) a room in the shortest possible time, and also be really convenient for use anywhere in the apartment.

A floor air conditioner is a popular device among a variety of climatic equipment, but not everyone knows how to choose a good quality floor air conditioner. Such units have specific differences, pluses and minuses.

Before you go to the store for a floor air conditioner, you need to decide what types are, and what is the difference. It is very important to understand what is the difference between an air conditioner without a floor type air duct and an air conditioner with a corrugated tube? What are the connection options and what to look for?

Advantages of floor air conditioners

  • Compact dimensions. Since the equipment does not have impressive overall dimensions, it can be installed in any convenient place, for example, in the corner of a room.
  • Most floor air conditioners have a mobile design, that is, it becomes possible to transfer devices to different rooms without much effort.
  • The equipment is easy to install without special installation principles. It should also be noted that the evaporator and condenser are located in the same housing. For this reason, there is no need for installation, as is the case with conventional split systems.

You can install such an air conditioner near the wall, keeping a distance of 30 cm. It is important that the condensate outlet remains free. The tube connected to the device is led out through a window or window at the other end. You can also drill a hole in the wall and bring the hose out.

Choosing a mobile air conditioner - the best option for giving

What could be the disadvantages?

  • If we compare the floor and wall air conditioner, then the first option will differ in low efficiency. This is due to the fact that the compressor during operation heats up itself and heats the room. As a result, the cooling efficiency is reduced.
  • Floor models are able to cool only one room where it is installed, although in some cases this drawback can be considered a plus.
  • Increased noise level due to the location of the evaporator inside the room. There are models that operate almost silently, so it is important to pay attention to this indicator.
  • There is a need to remove condensate. If a hose is provided, then a place for condensate removal must be provided. If it is collected in a special container, then you need to monitor its fullness.
  • In a small or one-room apartment, there may not be enough space for a floor-standing air conditioner.

A floor air conditioner only cools the room in which it is located, unlike a suspended split system.

When buying a mobile air conditioner, remember the low efficiency of the device

What are floor air conditioners?

Today in stores you can find a huge range of air conditioners, so it’s not immediately possible to understand which one is the most suitable for a particular room. So, floor air conditioners can be of two types.

  • Split systems that are not installed on the floor, but at a height of 50 cm from it. This category also includes floor-to-ceiling air conditioners, which can be located both under the ceiling and at the bottom of the wall. Due to this feature of the installation, the cooled air is directed not at the person, which is important for his health.
  • A mobile floor air conditioner, with or without an air duct, has one fairly important advantage, namely the ability to move from one room to another. In addition, such a device can be taken with you to the country or on vacation. Such air conditioners are preferred due to the ease of installation and the possibility of being transferred to any room. Based on individual considerations and preferences, buyers choose the most suitable type, namely the air conditioner that is easier to install and has no difficulties in operating.

Decide on the type of floor air conditioner: stationary or mobile

Regarding equipment, the various modifications do not have any particular differences. Most appliances only work in two modes, namely heating and cooling. Management is carried out using a remote control. There are also protection devices and systems that monitor the operation of the compressors and the direction of the air. In addition, there are units for sale that provide antibacterial treatment, filtration and air ionization.

Since models running on freon are considered unsafe, in new modifications this substance has been replaced with refrigerants.

Modern air conditioning equipment does not look like large refrigerators, these are small boxes with an original design and necessary functions.

Advantages of stationary floor air conditioners

The stationary floor air conditioner has two blocks, made in the same way as a conventional split system. A small indoor unit is located near the floor, while fixing is carried out on the wall. In principle, the installation of equipment is not much different from a simple air conditioner. In any case, the outer part is brought out of the room, it can be mounted on the roof or an external wall using special brackets. Often the outdoor unit is mounted on an open balcony, veranda or loggia.

When installing the indoor unit, you need to follow one important rule, namely, to mount it at a height of at least 50 cm from the floor.

The outdoor unit must be installed in such a way that a continuous supply of air from outside the room is ensured. Thus, it can be immediately noted that basements and rooms without the possibility of ventilation are not suitable for installation.

Once again it is worth noting that the installation of the outdoor unit of a floor air conditioner is carried out almost according to the same scheme as a conventional split system.

We install a stationary floor air conditioner in the apartment

The interior is equipped with floating louvres with bars. Through tangential fans, as well as vertical blinds and horizontal dampers, the direction of air flows is formed, due to which circulation is optimized.

Some modifications can work with a single flow, but you can also find double options that can create a favorable indoor climate without compromising health.

Portable floor air conditioners

Mobile air conditioning equipment is similar to window air conditioners, and the installation of such a mobile air conditioner can also be carried out in a plastic window.

In this case, everything is placed in one housing, while the heated mass goes outside the room, that is, out the window.

Portable air conditioners are most often preferred by those who do not have the opportunity to install stationary equipment or plan to travel frequently, live or vacation in the country.

Mobile floor-type air conditioners are installed according to the same principle as structures in a plastic window, so you should not overthink about installation. This process is not difficult and not difficult, although there are some nuances. It is necessary to provide an opportunity and a place for the output of heated air outside the room. This can be done using a corrugated hose and a window, an alternative may be a hole in the wall.

The disadvantages of such units include an increased noise level, since the most sonorous part is not separated from the system and is not taken out. Among the choice of such equipment, it is not possible to implement automatic condensate drainage, so you have to drain the water from the tank yourself.

Experts recommend buying products with a large capacity for collecting condensate, since a small tray needs to be drained often. Another moment, when the tray has reached a certain limit, the floor air conditioner is turned off, so continuous cooling of the room will not be provided.

For a country house, choose a portable outdoor air conditioner

Portable devices without air duct

The mobile unit is an excellent solution for those who want to forego the use of duct hoses.

Such a floor air conditioner is distinguished by a simple principle of operation, namely, in the process of transformation of the state of aggregation, substances give or receive thermal energy.

  • The water container is located at the bottom of the evaporation equipment. With the help of a small pump, water is pumped from the tank and fed to a special filter to moisten it.
  • The warm air taken from the room is directed by a fan to the already damp filter.
  • Passing through this humidified filter, the air mass is processed and, accordingly, cooled. On the surface of the filter are molecules that pass into a gaseous state.

It is worth noting that portable floor-standing air conditioning units without an air duct work exclusively for the generation of cold air, and there is no condensation. If we consider the design features, it is immediately noticeable that there are no assembly trays and drainage tubes designed to collect excess moisture. There are also no corrugated hoses through which the heated air is removed.

Remember that a floor air conditioner without an air duct does not provide for the generation of condensate

In such a technique, condensation does not form at all, since these floor-standing devices operate solely to generate a cold air flow, and no heat is provided.

Since there is no condensate, a tray is not needed, the same applies to drainage pipes and a hose to remove warm air from the room. Thus, it is worth saying that there should be no difficulties in using and moving this cooling equipment.

Despite all the advantages, there are, of course, a minus, which people who understand the principle of operation of such an air conditioner know about. So, you need to constantly fill the water into the tank, a special indicator will inform you about such a need. As for the frequency of such manipulation, it should be noted that everything will depend on the material used for decoration, and the area of \u200b\u200bthe room, other important nuances are also taken into account.

So, it is worth noting once again that floor air conditioners of this category work perfectly, provided that regular ventilation is provided.

All popular types of floor air conditioners have been considered above, all the advantages and disadvantages have been highlighted. Based on the information provided, each potential user will be able to easily choose a model suitable for a particular room.

Almost all floor air conditioners have four main modes, these are:

  • cold production;
  • space heating;
  • ventilation;
  • air drying.

Modern models of such devices have a built-in ionizer, which is located in the cleaning filter. You should also pay attention to the presence of a system for adjusting the humidity of the air, due to which the air in the room does not dry out.

On the body of the device, you can see the control panel, equipped with a timer. For convenience of regulation of a microclimate the remote control is provided.

The power of the device is very important, this indicator is taken into account in the first place. It is necessary to determine which room will be cooled most often, and how much power is needed. It is believed that 1 kW is able to cool or heat 10 square meters.

Also in the store you need to find out how much capacity to collect condensate. If it is small, then it will have to be emptied after 3-4 hours.

Floor air conditioners are most often bought in cases where it is impossible to install a conventional split system, in particular, this applies to rented apartments, country houses and other non-permanent premises. In other cases, a stationary split system is purchased, which can be integrated into the design of the bedroom, for example, and which copes with the cooling function much more efficiently, although there is no possibility of transferring it. Such devices, of course, are more expensive and more difficult to install.

The choice of a mobile air conditioner for the home should be done in winter. As in the saying - "prepare the sleigh in the summer, and the cart in the winter." The same is true with air conditioning. In winter, prices for mobile air conditioners are much lower, sometimes the difference with the summer period is up to 50%. In winter, the choice is no less, and they are not taken apart like hot cakes in the summer.

Let's look at the main points related to the choice of a mobile air conditioner in the article, listen to customer reviews and find out what are the prices for the most popular models.

How to choose a mobile air conditioner for the home, its structure and principle of operation

Structure

The mobile conditioner is a monoblock. That is, it has two main devices:
- device for taking air from the atmosphere
- air conditioning device, that is, its cooling.
If in traditional wall-mounted air conditioners (split systems) these two devices are separated from each other and connected by tubes, then in a mobile air conditioner they are together, under one housing.

Principle of operation

Air is sucked in from the room through openings in the housing and cooled in the compressor. In this case, the compressor heats up from its operation, hot air is formed, which must be discharged into the atmosphere. But if hot air is immediately released into the room, then it will not be cooled: the cooled air will mix with hot air and, as a result, there will be no cooling effect.
Therefore, hot air must be vented to the atmosphere outside. To do this, a corrugated tube is attached to the mobile air conditioner (length - no more than 1.5 meters!), Which is connected to a special hole, and its other end is led out through a window or window into the street.

There are some mobile air conditioners that have two holes in their composition: the first is for air intake, and the second is for hot air to be removed.

But in this case, there should already be two corrugated pipes, which should be separated from each other at a great distance so that the hot exhaust air is not immediately sucked back into the system and cooled. Otherwise, the air conditioner will actually cool itself.

Cooling is carried out by refrigerant, as in a refrigerator. The most environmentally friendly refrigerant is R410A.

We look at the video, how to choose a mobile air conditioner for your home.

Advantages and disadvantages

Pros:

Mobility. You can take it with you to your country house, to your store, you can drag it to any room where you are at the moment.
- there is no need for installation, as is the case with wall-mounted split systems. That is, he bought it - brought it home - plugged it into the network - brought the corrugated pipe out into the street. Simple and easy.
- cheapness. The price of mobile air conditioners starts from 8,000 rubles in winter. In the summer - 30-50 percent more expensive.

Minuses:

Mobile air conditioner intensively sucks air from the room. Moreover, the suction volume is quite large - at least 300 liters per minute. That is, given that air is released into the street through a corrugated pipe, the air conditioner sucks in air from neighboring rooms through all the cracks (entrance door, electrical panel, ventilation shaft, etc.). Thus, if the windows in neighboring rooms are open, then hot air from the street begins to be intensively sucked into the apartment and raise the temperature in neighboring rooms.

Solution in this case:

a) moving the mobile air conditioner to the balcony, while using polyethylene and adhesive tape, it is necessary to strengthen the corrugated pipe so that cold air is supplied through it into the room through the window;
b) the purchase of such a mobile air conditioner, which has two pipes - one is sucked in air from the street, and the other is discharged hot exhaust air to the street. But there are very few such models. And remember: the length of each pipe must be more than 1.5 meters, otherwise your device will overheat and break.

Low cooling capacity and low efficiency (COP). This is due to the same principle of operation - two in one. Usually average values of temperature drop by mobile air conditioners in the room - minus 5 degrees from the one that was in the room before it started working. And this is very little, given the fact that in summer the temperature in the premises can rise to +35 +38 degrees.
This is also related to the fact that the area of the cooled room by mobile systems does not exceed 25 square meters.

Solution to the problem: buy and install more expensive and more powerful wall-mounted split systems.

Noise. Considering that this is a monoblock, that is, both a fan and a compressor are located in the same housing, all this is quite noisy and does not allow you to fall asleep normally at night.

Solution to the problem: moving the air conditioner to the balcony.

Water flows. Since the warm air cools sharply, condensation forms in the air conditioner (like in a refrigerator), which drains and which must be periodically removed by yourself, otherwise it will spread around the room.

Solution to the problem: buying more expensive mobile air conditioners, in which the condensate evaporates on its own.

Reviews

We have analyzed all reviews of mobile air conditioners on the Internet. And they all have a few basic starting points that repeat from review to review:

- very noisy
- Poor cooling
- “We bothered to clean the condensate every hour”,
- “one bag with corrugated hoses”,
- “there is a constant stench in the room from the neighbors, from the site and from the ventilation”,

- "mobility",
- “you can take it to the dacha in the summer, but it’s expensive to put the split system in the dacha”,
- "I put it on the balcony, brought the pipe into the room, and the room is cold and quiet",
- "cheap".

And here is a video from ordinary users with their reviews:

And this video introduces the Ballu BPES-09C model:

Installation

Installing a mobile air conditioner is simple, but has its own characteristics. The most important thing is the removal of hot air through the pipe. The length of the pipe must be no more than 1.5 meters, otherwise the device will overheat.
You can bring the pipe out through the window, through a specially made hole in the glass, as well as into the ventilation hole in the wall.

Floor air conditioner. How to choose?

Surely, in our country there is no longer a single person who would not know about the existence of such an invaluable thing in the hot summer and in the cold season, a thing called “air conditioning”. Most often, air conditioning becomes practically the “limit” of a person’s desires in the heat, cooling rooms (and not only apartments, car air conditioning systems are in no less demand). When it gets cold - air conditioning is just as necessary (increasing the temperature in the room). And not only a person needs to create a favorable microclimate around him, but also industrial units, household and office equipment.

How types of floor air conditioners are there?

There are several types of air conditioners that we use in everyday life:

  • mobile monoblock;
  • mobile split system;
  • split system with floor-to-ceiling indoor unit.

Mobile monoblock

It is a type of air conditioner characterized by compactness, in which all the components (compressor, fan and evaporator) are placed in one main unit. The principle of installation is as follows: the main unit of the air conditioner is located on the floor of the room, a flexible hose (air duct) is removed from the main unit, through which warm air is removed from the room. Condensate is collected in the air conditioner pan. A distinctive feature of all types of air conditioners is that the air for cooling the condenser is absorbed from the room, passes through a special filter, enters the refrigeration circuit, where the air is cooled and returned to the room, and the warm air is removed to the street through the air duct (reinforced pipe with larger diameter). Schematically, the principle of operation of a mobile monoblock is shown in Figure 1.

Advantages: easy to transport (mobile), does not require any specific installation (you can connect such an air conditioner yourself, and bring the air duct, for example, through a window or door, as shown in Figure 2), easy to use and maintain, has a fairly long service life . Monoblock air conditioners are protected from freon leaks.

Disadvantages: high noise level, large duct diameter.

Mobile split system

This is the newest of all types of air conditioners. The mobile split system consists of outdoor and indoor units. The outdoor unit is quite light, it is hung outside the window on special belts (it is convenient when there is a balcony or loggia in the room). The condenser and fan are placed in the outdoor unit. The indoor unit is quite heavy, it houses the compressor, this unit is noisy. The blocks of the split system are connected, the inner one with the outer one, among themselves - with a flexible hose with a thin diameter, pipes for the refrigerant are placed inside this hose.

Advantages: the noise level is slightly lower than that of a monoblock, and the efficiency is higher, the heat exits through the outdoor unit, which is connected to the indoor unit by a freon or refrigerant line, ease of movement due to wheels, has a relatively low power, installation can be done independently (without calling specialist).

Disadvantages: the cost is much higher than that of a monoblock, constant removal of condensate from a special container is required, the inability to place the blocks at such a distance from each other that will be convenient for your room, due to the insufficient length of the freon line.

Split system with floor-to-ceiling indoor unit

The split system consists of indoor and outdoor units, which are interconnected by copper pipes for freon circulation. The outdoor unit of a split system is similar to the principle of a refrigerator and consists of components such as a condenser, a compressor, a fan, and a throttle. As for the indoor unit, it contains an evaporator and a fan.

The most common type is a split system with a floor-to-ceiling indoor unit. The application is suitable for rooms of medium and large volume, and for various purposes. For many buyers, such splits, given the name, are perceived as “floor”, but you need to understand that they are mounted either from below on the wall (then the air flow is directed upwards) or on the ceiling (the air flow spreads along the ceiling).

Advantages: compact dimensions (depth from 18 to 25 centimeters), versatility of placement (installation is possible both at the bottom of the wall and on the ceiling), while it does not take up a large enough space on the floor and “does not spoil” the interior, high power, is easy to adjust air supply.

Disadvantages: this type of split system is not subject to hidden installation.

How to choose the right floor air conditioner?

Conditioners are a long-term technique, so choosing the right one for you is important. All models of mobile air conditioners have different specifications, functions, design, price. Let's try to decide step by step, based on the most popular selection criteria.

Step one - calculate the required power

It depends on the correctly calculated power whether the air conditioner will cover the area of \u200b\u200byour room. Approximately 1 kW falls on 10m 2, which means that an air conditioner with a power of 3 kW is quite suitable for a room with an area of 28m 2.

But, even if a high power indicator is indicated in the passport of the air conditioner, it should be borne in mind that in practice a floor monoblock is ideal only for a room up to 25m 2, and for large rooms it is preferable to use a split system.

A very significant indicator is the power consumption, on which the energy consumption of the air conditioner directly depends, and hence its efficiency. Most often, this indicator is 3 times less than the cooling power indicator. There are also more economical ones.

Step two - consider the condensate trap (its capacity)

In most models of mobile air conditioners, a drip tray is designed to collect condensate. This leads to corresponding inconveniences, since it is necessary to constantly monitor the level of the collected water and drain it.

Of course, the best solution is a floor-standing air conditioner with a built-in evaporator.

Step three - explore the functionality in detail

All floor air conditioners work both for cooling the room and for heating it, i.e. the main functions are universal. It is worth paying attention to additional features. For example, many mobile air conditioners are equipped with an ionization and air purification function. What it is?

Air ionization may not be the most necessary, although a pleasant function, because. The presence of ions in the air is an ecological human need, and in any room their concentration is very low. Ionizers, which are built into mobile split systems, allow you to compensate for the freshness of the air, help strengthen immunity, reduce fatigue, and improve sleep.

To clean the air, special cleaning filters are built into some mobile air conditioners.

The noise level is a significant indicator when choosing one or another model of air conditioner, except for you, a working air conditioner can be very disturbing to people in the next room. To solve this problem, some manufacturers use the "low noise outdoor unit" function.

The presence of a timer and a remote control is also additional, but contributing to the convenience and comfort of the consumer. For example, at a distance, set one or another operating mode, set the time to turn the air conditioner on or off, etc.

The chilled air distribution grill is also taken into account, it is considered that the one with manual adjustment is stronger.

Step four - choose a manufacturer and a suitable model

This moment is interesting for those who already prefer any manufacturer. If you have not decided yet, then try to collect reviews about models and manufacturers on special sites on the Internet.

It is also advisable to pay attention to exactly your need and the presence of a particular characteristic, and you should not overpay for the extra.

Step five - external data

First of all, a mobile air conditioner should not have a bulky shape - it should be compact, as high as a cabinet. Floor air conditioner should not take up much space in the room and spoil the interior.

A mobile air conditioner should be light in weight (for ease of transportation).

Pay attention to the fact that the wheels of the floor air conditioner are rubberized (this contributes to silent movement, does not leave marks on the floor covering).

In general, the room should remain cozy and comfortable, with which your air conditioner must be in harmony!
