How to reduce the availability of humidity in the cellar

House and plot

The owners of the cellars often complain about humidity in it. Usually this problem is associated with violations admitted during construction. How to reduce moisture in the cellar - a question that worries many Russians who keep their vegetables in the cellars and basements.

In the basement and cellars, excessive humidity appears often. If it does not start taking measures to eliminate it in time, then fungus will appear, and then mold.

For obvious reasons, moisture and dampness are invalid in cellars and basements. Mold, fungus appears indoors with wet air. It is impossible to store vegetables in such a basement, and if the wet room is located in the basement, it can negatively affect the integrity of the entire structure.

One of the causes of moisture and dampness is moisture, penetrating the room through the walls and in the future accumulating on the floor. In the process of its evaporation, the humidity increases many times.

If the cellar or the basement is located in a private house, the cause of dampness may be insufficient insulation of the structure. At low temperatures, water through the joints at home penetrates the basement.

The cause of increased can be groundwater. This is possible with unsatisfactory floorproofing of the floor.

Methods of moisture removal

Lower moisture in the basement can be in various ways. But at first, check the condition of the basement waterproofing. If it does not cope with the task, then it is necessary to remake it. Often it is not a completely cheap option.

The most inexpensive method in which moisture in the cellar can be removed, the following:

  • get the polyethylene film, you can use the old one, most importantly, so that it is a whole. You will also need a soviet shovel, trowel and clay. If the floor of your cellar celly, then use it;
  • remove the 5 cm layer of the clay floor, align and confuse the resulting surface. From above to her neatly lay two layers of polyethylene. Put a clay layer on it and thoroughly confuse it. It is necessary to do it carefully that the film layer does not shift. Clay will start drying, and the air in the cellar will be land. Instead of clay box, you can make it from concrete.

Additional causes of humidity

  1. Often the moisture in the cellars appears in the melting season and after falling out precipitation. At the bottom of the cellar, pour the sand layer, and from above 10 cm of small gravel. Dampness should disappear. If during the year it does not happen, then make a layer of gravel thicker for another 10 cm. The groundwater drops to the level below, and from there can no longer rise to the floor level of the basement or cellar.
  2. The condensation appears on the walls is significantly affected by the humidity in the basement. You can fight with the help of special waterproofing plaster. Shuffle the walls of the basement - and they will begin to breathe. Condensate will disappear along with dampness. The shops sell the finished waterproofing mixture. You can cook it yourself. Add a waterproofing additive to dry plaster.
  3. Delete a special solution from the walls of the fungus and mold and apply plaster on the wall.
  4. The moisture in the cellars appears where thin and cold floors are made in them. Make a double floor, in the middle of which to lay a layer of rubberoid. Air humidity will decrease.
  5. You can fight moisture in the basement with the help of potassium chloride, quickly absorbing the surplus of moisture. Powder of this substance poured into banks and set up the corners of the cellar. This method works well if you have a small cellar.

What to do if nothing helps

If all these simple methods cannot reduce humidity in the cellar, then you need to create additional waterproofing.

  1. Start with floorpiece of the floor. Cover it with several bitumen layers. Preheat it with a construction hairdryer and laid two layers of rubberoid from above. Instead, it is possible to put waterproofing, it is not exposed to the actions of rot and resistant to mold.
  2. In the second stage of waterproofing, we build additional walls in the Pollipich. Between them mounted the waterproofing layer. From above, the cellar make a concrete tie 10 cm.

In the basement began to appear moisture on the floor and walls? What should be done to become dry and suitable for storage of vegetables?

  1. The first thing you need to do is to regularly ventilate the basement, opening it every day. Check the ventilation.
  2. If the spring in the basement appears moisture on the walls and the floor, they must be repaired. On the floor, you make a screed from the waterproof cement. Carefully inspect the walls if there are cracks on them, close them, and then shuffle the walls.
  3. If it is possible, dug the walls of the basement outside. All fascinated found are cement mortar. Cover the walls with a layer of bitumen or runneroid, it will strengthen the basement waterproofing. You can make a clay castle at its perimeter. In the trench around the basement lay clay with layers of 20 cm, carefully trambus. Such a castle will completely block the receipt of groundwater and rainwater to the walls of the basement.
  4. You can additionally on the outer perimeter of the basement, in the trench, dug on the depth of the foundation, lay drainage pipes by which the water will be discharged into the drain pit or septic tank.

Groundwater poured floor basement? Drop the pit below the basement floor level. Make a gravel pillow in it, install the container with the holes drilled in the side walls.

Capacity needs to be wrapped with a cloth that is well transmitting water, it will not give the holes in the container. In it put the pump with a float. Water fills the container, the float rises and includes a pump. Water pumped out, the float is lowered, and the pump is turned off. Such a device will allow you to effectively deal with water and humidity in the basement.
