Rock group Tokio Hotel - where Tom, Bill Kaulitz and other members are now. RTL - Exclusive Weekend - Bill and Tom About Sex Are the Kaulitz Brothers Married

Basics of garden composition

Bill Kaulitz was born on September 1, 1989 in Leipzig, East Germany. The baby was born ten minutes after the birth of his twin brother Tom Kaulitz.

After 7 years, their parents decided to leave, after which the family changed their place of residence and moved to the village of Leutsche. After a while, the mother married the musician Gordon Trumper.

Even in early childhood, Bill dreamed of singing on stage, and his favorite singer was Nena, and the boy even managed to listen to her performance at a concert.

Tom also shared his brother's hobbies, so his mother and stepfather did everything to make the children's dream come true. At the age of 12, Bill got pierced, pierced his tongue and eyebrow, in addition, he dyed his hair black. On Halloween, Bill always dressed up as a vampire, as he liked the dark gothic style.

To match the image, the boy painted his eyes with black pencil. Since Kaulitz stood out among his peers for his unusual appearance and hobbies, they constantly teased and offended him.

Creative career

Studying was difficult for the brothers, they were hooligans and did not obey their elders, so the teachers constantly scolded them. When Bill and Tom turned 13, they began performing in bars in Magdeburg, where they met two young men, Gustav Schaefer and Georg Listing, who were also passionate about music. The guys united and created their own group called Devilish, releasing a disc with their own compositions, which is still appreciated among music lovers. They multiplied it in an amount of 300 and distributed it in their performances. The young musicians were accidentally heard by the producer, who later invited them to audition. The Devilish members were very worried, but everything went well and the producer signed with them, renaming the group Tokio Hotel.

In 2003, Kaulitz tried his hand at a German competition for young talents, but, despite the fact that the performance was unsuccessful, he was noticed by producer Peter Hoffmann, who later did a lot for the successful promotion of the team. Having entered the world of show business, the musicians began to learn how to behave on stage, give autographs to fans, and also communicate with representatives of the press. Bill began to improve his vocals, as he was always lazy to learn musical notation, so he could not play musical instruments. In August 2005, the band's first single "Durch den Monsun" was recorded, which rapidly climbed to the highest point in the Austrian charts. A month later, the first studio album "Schrei" was created. Throughout the year, the band members recorded three videos that quickly reached number one. The musicians' talent was recognized by the important König Pilsener Arena prize, which was presented to them right at the concert in the spring of 2006. In the same period they released their second album "Schrei - so laut du kannst", and in the fall they went on their first tour, having attended a concert in Moscow.

In the spring of 2007, Tokyo Hotel toured Europe. In Russia, they first performed in St. Petersburg, and then in Moscow. In the summer, their first English-language album "Scream" appears, with which musicians begin to gain popularity in America, England, Italy, Spain. Frequent tours around the world and a busy work schedule undermined the health of the musicians. So, at the beginning of 2008, the artists were forced to cancel their tour of Europe due to the illness of the soloist, who was diagnosed with a tumor on the vocal cords. When the operation was performed, Bill was not allowed to speak for several weeks. But already in May, the band gave their first concert after the operation at a festival in New York. In the fall of 2009, the fourth album "Humanoid" was released, where the arrangement of the songs was mainly electronic. In the spring of 2010, the musicians went on tour to Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, and then to Japan.

After that, the German artists took a break from their creative work to rest and take up a new album, but in the fall of 2012 Bill and his brother appeared on the screens in the show "Germany is looking for a superstar", where they joined the jury. This popular German show features a permanent jury member, Dieter Bohlen, and the rest are invited every year. The latest news about the group Tokio Hotel will only delight their fans: the musicians have released a new album "Kings of Suburbia" (Kings of the Suburb), which was worked on by the twin brothers without any outside help. Those who have already listened to new compositions sounding in English have received this work ambiguously. Some people did not like the musical sound of the songs, but critics believe that the artists were able to achieve the highest sound in them. In the first half of 2015, the musicians intend to begin the Feel It All World Tour in support of their new album, which will run until December 2015.

Bill Kaulitz's personal life

After Bill Kaulitz and his brother became famous, they had many fans who were bombarded with love letters. But the peculiar style of the twin brothers, various photos, as well as their songs gave rise to many questions and speculations about their personal life. Rumors that Bill and Tom are kissing for show, whether Bill has a girlfriend, and where to find her photo, constantly interested the brothers' fans. And few could believe that the singer had not yet met the girl of his dreams, so he is still alone. It should be noted that Kaulitz himself does not like to talk about his love affairs, believing that this relationship should be personal and intimate, but in one interview he admitted that he dreams of meeting his girlfriend.

According to the musician, he is not a fan of light hobbies and only welcomes a serious and long-term relationship. At the same time, Bill, who often has to communicate with fans, does not exclude the possibility that one of them could become his girlfriend. At one time, there were persistent rumors about Bill's romance with Nikki Ramsay, the daughter of British chef and TV presenter Gordon Ramsay, but this relationship quickly ended. One way or another, but lovers become the object of close attention from cunning paparazzi and fans, and the latter are very jealous of the object of love of their idol, sometimes even hateful. Kaulitz's fans began to threaten Ramsay and her family, after which the frightened girl decided to part with her lover.

In the photo Laura Kleinas and Bill

During the participation of the lead singer of the group Tokyo Hotel in the DSDS show as a member of the jury, many of his fans noted that Bill sympathized with one of the participants, whose name is Laura Kleinas. The artist was delighted with the performance of the charming 17-year-old Frenchwoman, so he tried to promote her to the final. In one of the episodes of the show, Bill confessed his love to the girl, but Laura herself claimed that there was only music between them.

In 2010, the Kaulitz brothers changed their place of residence, moving to Los Angeles. The artists decided to take a break from their creative careers and, hiding from everyone, dreamed of living their own lives. They acquired a luxurious mansion, where they can now safely work on new projects. Four dogs also settled in the musicians' new house. Bill and Tom are vegetarians and wildlife lovers, which is why they partnered with PETA, an animal rights organization. In the fall of 2010, the Kaulitz brothers took part in an unusual photo session under the motto "Slaves of the entertainment industry: Wild animals have no place in the circus." In these pictures, they are captured in a cage where circus animals are kept, and the artists were not only chained, but also smeared in soot and blood. Bill and Tom also recorded a video message to the public, describing the conditions under which the four-legged circus performers, who are very often beaten, are kept. Also, young people believe that it is necessary to reduce the use of animals in entertainment activities and try to replace them with people.

Relationships with other singers and popularity with fans

The Tokyo Hotel members are friendly with each other and work as a well-coordinated team, but sometimes Bill gets it from them, as he can be very moody and lazy. During the tour, the lead singer of the group does not help his colleagues to wear heavy stage props, believing that only a microphone is his instrument. Bill was looking for clothes for performances himself, and he liked this occupation. According to the singer, if his musical career did not work out, he would definitely become a fashion designer. Kaulitz has always treated his stage image with trepidation, so a professional stylist and make-up artist Natalie Franz, who has extensive experience working with famous people, began to work with him. The girl is originally from Ukraine, but already in the late 80s she settled in Europe. It was she who created Bill his crazy hairstyles and makeup, which infuriated his fans.

But the performer, who was popular mainly among teenagers, also had those who opposed his popularity, who considered the soloist's image too sexy. These young men even set up a small anti-fan club, where its members argued that the singer was attractive to both women and men. According to rumors, German rapper Buschido had a special sympathy for Kaulitz, but the artist himself has always denied his involvement in gays. Also, the American singer and actor Adam Lambert, known for his participation in the show "American Idol", has repeatedly said in his interviews that he would like to personally meet and get to know Bill. At one time, Adam was classified as a gay person, but this did not prevent him from becoming a successful performer with his own style. The fact that the acquaintance of the two singers took place was announced on Twitter by Lambert himself. He enthusiastically told the readers that the meeting did not last long, but in a very friendly atmosphere.

Many fans are interested not only in Bill's work and pictures, but also like to read his quotes recorded at different times. They like the interesting look of their idol on many things, while some even change their imaginations and learn from him to achieve their goals, overcoming obstacles. For example, the singer said that when a dream comes true, it leaves a person. Also his catch phrase is: "The most powerful drug is fame, but if you take it away from me, I will not survive this blow."

Evolution of style and participation in photo shoots

At the beginning of his singing career, Kaulitz did eye tint, piercings, and preferred short hair with long bangs. The producers of the Tokio Hotel group considered such a bisexual image of the soloist to be successful, since it aroused the interest of many music lovers, and teenage fans began to imitate him. As Bill grew older, there were changes in his image.

Fans will remember Bill Kaulitz's bright androgynous image for a long time

His black hair became long and black nail polish appeared on his nails. The make-up has become more professional and the lips have shine. Bright appearance and confidence on stage allowed the artist to achieve great success in his career. In 2007, he uses white strands in his hair and prefers to wear rocker style clothes. In 2009, Kaulitz showed several looks: first he appears with dreadlocks, and then a mohawk appears on his head, and the performer switches to heels and tight things.

Since 2012, Bill has radically changed his image ...

Then, like many celebrities, the singer fell in love with knitted hats. For some time, the twin brothers did not perform at concerts and did not appear on television, but when in the fall of 2012 they took part in the filming of the show "Deutschland sucht den Superstar", they showed the audience their new image. Bill went blonde, coma this, he was without makeup and with three days of stubble.

The soloist of Tokio Hotel got tattoos at a young age: this is a drawing in the form of a star on his right thigh, then the inscription “Svoboda-89” on his left hand and the band's logo on his neck. There is also an image on the shoulder that resembles a mermaid, and the inscriptions on the left side probably refer to her: "We return to the roots" and "We will never stop screaming." Now Kaulitz has several more tattoos: the time of birth is stamped on his fingers - 0630, and on his left hand there is a skeleton with a flower and a bird. Bill's chest is also decorated with a large tattoo that says "See you in outer space." But what this symbolic tattoo means, he does not reveal.

The popular German singer, with his high height of 184 cm, weighs only 52 kg, so many fans were worried that their pet was developing anorexia. In addition, there were rumors that he consumes a lot of alcohol and dabbles in drugs. In one interview, Bill said that everything is fine with him, and he is not sick with anything. Moreover, the singer loves sweets and everything baked. Kaulitz admitted that during the days when they had their first musical group, he often drank alcohol and was very drunk, but then the singer got older and realized all his wrong actions.

Tall and thin, Bill, who has an eccentric style, dreamed of trying his hand at being a model in the fashion industry. And in early 2010, he first took part in the show of the fashion house Dsquared, where he created the image of a "fallen angel". Then the singer was invited to shoot by publishers Stern, where he showed off his graceful body in various outfits. The artist got bright makeup, painted his nails with dark varnish, and combed his hair back. Also in October 2010, the Kaulitz brothers became the faces of the glossy magazine L'Uomo Vogue, and the photography took place in Sicily in the Biscari Palace. But sometimes the lead singer and members of the Tokio Hotel group manage to relax and unwind in the Maldives. That's when Bill can afford to be without makeup and hair, however, and there the musicians get the ubiquitous paparazzi.

At the peak of his popularity, the German singer has many doubles. But what a surprise it was when Kaulitz himself was accused of copying the image of the 25-year-old Japanese singer Miyavi, the former guitarist of the Indian band Duele Quartz. The performers themselves ignored this statement. Most likely, both showed an interest in Japanese "manga", which was in vogue at the time. Bill only corrected his gothic-vampiric style, and therefore there was a similarity with Miyavi.

A tough, even aggressive appearance, but if you look in the eyes, you can see a delicate, vulnerable nature. The person who loves his brother most of all and still suffers from a lack of parental warmth in childhood.

Who is he, Bill Kaulitz, the leader of Tokio Hotel, what interesting facts from his life does he bring to the public, and what is he carefully trying to hide?

Bill and his brother's childhood

The future vocalist of the infamous group was born in Leipzig a year before the GDR and West Berlin became part of a unified Germany. Bill was born 10 minutes earlier than his twin brother, and this difference determined the relationship of the boys for life: the elder takes care of the younger, and Tom listens to Bill's opinion in everything. When they were 7 years old, the parents of the children, Jörg and Simona, divorced, and two years later the mother took the twins to Leutsch (a small village near Magdeburg).

There are constant heated discussions about Bill and Tom's childhood. The brothers themselves are very reluctant to discuss the reasons why the mother and father divorced. What is known for sure - they communicate little with their own father, do not feel special love for him. And the stepfather, musician Gordon Trumper, on the contrary, is on excellent terms with them. According to Bill, it was Gordon who understood his desire to advance in music and supported him already in early childhood.

Mr. Jörg said in an interview with BILD in 2012: “Tom rebuked me many times for leaving their mother. This is a lie, she was very ambitious, she wanted to live an active life, but I wanted a quiet life, she decided to leave herself. "

What kind of childhood did the twins have in terms of behavior? They say that after moving to Leitsch they were left to their own devices and hardly went to school. Here's what Bill said about it: “We grew up in an environment where drugs and alcohol were the norm among our peers. But this does not mean that we were the same! "

The future leader of "Tokio Hotel" really did not have a well-behaved behavior in childhood: at the age of 12, he pierced his eyebrows and tongue, and dyed his long hair either black or red. Because of this, he often “shook off” his peers in the village, teased and beat him. In the village where the brothers grew up, the guy's appearance caused outrage and condemnation. The twins decide to escape to the city, but the attempt to become independent was stopped by their mother and stepfather: first graduate from school, and then think about independence!

And still they made themselves known - in 2001 a musical duet called "Devilish" was created. The duo of Bill and Tom was almost immediately joined by Georg Listing and Gustav Feber. Performing in a small club in Magdeburg, the group simultaneously recorded songs on CDs and sold them. In total, they sold about three hundred different discs without a title, and now it is a great pleasure for the fans of the brothers to become the owner of one of them.

The emergence of the group "Tokio Hotel"

In 2003 Peter Hoffman accidentally wandered over to the Devilish show. Yes, the same one that produced "The Doors" in due time! He still perceives the desire to drink a glass of beer in “Gr ö ninger Bad "as a sign from above:" I listened to them and thought: damn it, these guys are worth doing, they will be successful! " Hoffman took care of the little-known four and insisted on changing the name to Tokio Hotel.

The staff of the "Tokio Hotel" team: Tom and Bill Kaulitz, Gustav Schaefer and Georg Listing.

15 songs were immediately written, 12 of them were selected - the plan was to release a large album. On August 15, 2003, one of the songs, "Through the monsoon" (Durch den Monsun), received a complete arrangement and was recorded "cleanly". It became the first full-fledged single of the band. Since the band's name had a "Japanese" connotation, Hoffman suggested recording a second version in Japanese - "Monsun o koete".

Both versions of the song were auditioned by Sony BMG, and a video contract was immediately awarded. Since all four were minors, the documents were signed by the mother of the twins, Simone Kaulitz-Trümper. By the way, she also signed the contract with Hoffman. Later, the boys' father tried to claim financial custody of his sons, but met with stiff rebuff from both his ex-wife and themselves.

On August 16 of the same year, the single "Through the Monsoon" was released on German TV channels. In less than two weeks (from 16 to 26 August), the clip rose from 15th to 1st place! In Austria, the song was also received "with a bang", it was played on all music channels.

A still from the video for the song "Durch Den Monsun".

Hoffman, as a real specialist in terms of promotion, did not limit himself to the purely musical sphere. In the German youth magazine "Bravo" his friend Alex Gernandt worked as deputy editor, and before his contract with Sony BMG Peter gave him a few singles to listen to. "How cool they are!" - Alex declared enthusiastically. With his submission, the portrait of the four was placed on the cover of the magazine even before the first song was released on television.

Triumphal march around the world

In 2005, the first big album of the group saw the light, it was called "Shout", and almost immediately the video of the same name was shot. The band and Hoffman took a big risk by re-dubbing the song for the video - Bill's voice suddenly began to break. Despite this, the video instantly took first place on all music channels.

Tokio Hotel - Schrei

2006, March 11 - on K ö nig-Pilsener-Arena hosted the first big Tokio Hotel concert. At the end of the concert, in front of almost 12 thousand spectators, they were awarded the prize. For beginners - and the prestigious Arena award in Oberhausen! Before them, only recognized stars were honored with such an honor, for example - Whitney Houston and Paul McCartney.

Glory fell on the German guys. By December 2006, almost half a million discs had been sold, the number of sold tickets for concerts exceeded 200,000. Alex Gernandt, who still worked at Bravo, rubbed his hands contentedly: the group's photo had already been posted on the cover of the magazine 13 times, which (understandable business!) allowed to significantly increase the circulation.

In March of the same year, three new songs were written specially for the breaking voice of Bill: "Blackness", "Confession" and "Topic No. 1". They have been included on a new studio album called Shout Out - As Loud As You Can. In September, the song from this compilation "The Last Day" took the top line in all the world charts, and the album itself sold better than the compilations of Jon Bon Jovi and The Rolling Stones, which were released at the same time.

The first city outside Germany, where Tokio Hotel decided to give a concert, was ... Moscow! A very different audience gathered at the concert in Luzhniki: from children with parents to people of almost retirement age - everyone wanted to look at the German stars! Kaulitz performed his already old single "Save Me" in a new version - not in a boyish thin voice, but in bass semitones, and the new version was received with enthusiasm by the audience. During the concert, all four threw wet towels and drumsticks to the audience: now pieces of this fabric and wood are a very expensive rarity among fans. In 2007, the group once again came to Moscow to receive the Muz-TV award.

The German boy band has visited Moscow many more times, and in 2016 a series of concerts almost came under threat. Women who had teenage children formed a militant group and demanded that the performance be canceled. The reason was the video "Feel It All", where the main character behaved, in their opinion, in an inappropriate way.

Some statistics after 2006

  • 2007, April 3 - the beginning of the world tour "Room 483". Blazer Award;
  • 2007, June - release of the English-language collection "Scream";
  • September-October 2007 - within the framework of the tour 12 concerts were given in France, tickets for which were sold out in less than a day;
  • November 2007 - September 2008 - the band received several awards from MTV: nominations for "Best Debut", "Best Music", "Headliner". In 2009, MTV received the Best Group award;
  • 2009 - the release of the album "Humanoid" (it had less success than the previous ones), the beginning of an Asian tour and a visit to Japan in the status of world stars;
  • 2014 - release of the collection "Kings of Suburbia". In support of the disc, a new world tour was carried out;
  • 2016 - Bill Kaulits' solo album - "I am not OK" was released;
  • 2017 - release of the disc "Dream Machine"; the first listeners to the songs "live" were Muscovites at the concert on April 27th.

Bill's personal life and interesting facts

The constant change of image, causing unisex costumes, unusual hairstyles and bright "non-male" make-up, scandalous behavior on the stage - all this causes on the one hand the indignation of the "well-behaved" audience, and at the same time heats up the love of the fans. For example, at the first concert in Moscow, Bill was so "sold out" that he began to play obscene harassment to his brother right on the stage. This, and not only, gave rise to rumors about the "wrong" relationship of the twins, and too little information leaked into the press about the novels of Tom and Bill with women. With whom Bill "turns love" and who his girlfriend was, it was known for sure only once: Nikki Ramsay, the daughter of a popular English showman, confirmed that they had a relationship.

Pictured is Nikki Ramsay.

In 2015, a photo of his older brother got into the press, where he was captured arm in arm with Liz Vanderpump, the star of the American reality show "Real Housewives". Everything would be fine, but a beautiful lady in all respects was 54 years old at that time! In response to journalists' questions: "Is this love?" - Bill did not confirm or deny the connection with the woman suitable for his mother. He "added fuel to the fire" with a statement: "I am constantly waiting for a miracle, I want to meet a person who will change my life drastically, and I don't care what age and gender he is." Oh how ...

Recently (probably because he has matured) Bill changed his “luscious” image to a more masculine one. Not all fans took it positively: "He was such a sweetheart 5-6 years ago, what did he do to himself?"

Not only suspicious orientation and shocking creativity cause excitement around the leader of "Tokio Hotel". Now he declares that he has become a convinced vegetarian, then suddenly on the Internet he shares his favorite recipes for pizza with chicken and milkshake. The brothers are provocative in public, but do not like to be interviewed at home.

The Kaulitz brothers with their pets.

But the brothers always treat animals with the same reverent: according to them, in childhood they fed and looked after stray dogs. Now several dogs live with Bill and Tom, their biggest favorite is the bulldog Pumbaa, they also had a cat Kazimir. The brothers have been active members of the global animal welfare organization PETA for many years. In 2012, they publicly resented the extermination of stray dogs in Ukraine ahead of the European soccer championship. They never wear natural fur or leather.

Scandals haunt Bill and Tom all the time: not so long ago there was a rumor that the girl of Kaulitz's younger brother was forced to part with him and have face plastic surgery, as the fans threatened to disfigure her. Their adoptive father, Gordon Trumper, had to delete their YouTube account twice due to indiscreet questions and insults.

Leading:"I hate sex with groupies and I'm afraid of attempts" - these open statements surprised us by Bill Kaulitz, the frontman of the worldwide successful Tokio Hotel group.

In Oberhausen, four Magdemurians make a stopover with their tour. There is already a familiar situation: thousands of screaming fans. State of emergency!
So what is the price guys have to pay for their incredible success? Tokio Hotel told David Moterad and Bettina Fitsche about this.

Bettina: How often does Bill Kaulitz have sex?

Bill: Over the past years, I haven't had a single girl in my room, nothing at all.

Bettina: How does it feel to be constantly afraid of assassination attempts?

Volume: This, of course, is such a thing, without which we, as it were, can no longer live or even cannot imagine how it is when there are no people who hate us.

Bettina: And how do the guys handle it? Not a single step goes unnoticed, and you can't do without security.

Bill: You need to consider whether you are ready to live this way. This is how it is with us.

Bettina: We met with Tokio Hotel and received honest answers to very personal questions.

On Friday evening, more than 11,000 fans waited at the Oberhausen Arena for the object of their desires - Bill Kaulitz. A sparkling mix of warrior, angel and alien, out of this world anyway. A couple of small dance moves were enough to bring the audience into ecstasy. When he sings about great love, apart from screams, little is heard.
Bill sings about something that he himself no longer experiences. To fall in love, to have a girlfriend, from the very beginning of their world success, he forgot about it. The last time he was in love was when he was 14 years old, i.e. 6 years ago. Does that mean he can say goodbye to sex?

Bill: I haven't had a girlfriend in recent years. And a year ago ... I will say this, I have to really fall in love so that I can spend time with someone and let me into my apartment or tour bus and all that.
(Tom laughs.)
Bill: What's happened?
Volume: There is nothing.
Bill:... I need to fall in love. And that's why I don't even consider having sex after a concert with someone in the front row.
Voice-over: What if ...
Volume(interrupts): For me it’s quite the opposite actually!

Bettina: With twin Tom, things are completely different. At the same time, many girls are interested in Tom more as a pop star than as a person.

Volume: It's just a little fun for us. In the end, it doesn't matter if she thinks you are good as a person, that of course she can't, because she doesn't know you. Or because she only saw you on TV. But now I don't give a damn about that!
Bill: and besides, we have, of course ...
Volume(interrupts and addresses Bill): It's only about physical contact, something you don't understand at all!
Bill: Yes.
Bettina: Giving up love isn't the only sacrifice for a successful global career.

Bill has bad memories (literally experience here!) And he even fears for his life. The guards were supposed to pull people disguised as fans and armed with knives from the red carpet.

Bill: Stories such as people with knives and so on have already happened at the very beginning of our career. Then I was about 16. Yes, 4 years have passed, but a person grows up with this, and you do not know how it is - differently.

Bettina: Only indoors, behind closed doors, does Bill feel safe.

Trying on suits at the beginning of the week. With him are only bandmates and designer duo Dsquared, who designed these space outfits.

Bill: Juhhu party!

Bettina: A relaxed and anxiety-free moment. It is very risky for Bill and the others to appear in public.

Bill: Once, in my opinion, in Los Angeles, we already had such a situation. Then one of the fans ran onto the stage and tried to drag Tom down from the stage. Plus, it can happen on the red carpet or at gigs with a lot of artists.

Bettina: A French gang of girls pursued their idols for several months. Last year, the situation escalated at the gas station. The girl pestered Tom, he lost his temper and hit her. It became known this week that Tom must pay a € 1,000 fine and apologize. Case is closed. This can happen to all artists, but as Tokio Hotel themselves say, they have always had more enemies than the rest, since their school years.

Volume: This, of course, is such a thing, without which we, as it were, can no longer live or even cannot imagine how it is when there are no people who hate us. To some extent, we even need it. But this is certainly worth fearing.

Bettina: Guys love to attract attention. And the fact that in Germany they are still considered a teenage group makes Bill unnerving.

Bill: Once on the street they conducted a survey in which passers-by included excerpts of songs from our new album and they really liked them. When they were told that it was Tokio Hotel, they immediately said: "Well, yes, after all, I don't really like it."

Bettina: in other countries this does not happen. After 2 concerts in Germany, they go to Moscow, Madrid, Rome, Paris. Tokio Hotel have achieved worldwide success, which is very rare for German musicians. But their life goes beyond the usual living standards. Drinking coffee or going shopping is inconceivable for Bill.

Bill: Maybe after the store closes. Well, or if there is a shopping center ... Or everything will have to be closed. This often happens. We often go to the cinema, but then the cinema is closed, and we go there after closing.

Leading: Are the bodyguards always with you?

Bill: One guard is always with us, that's for sure, but more often than one. But I would not dare to go out somewhere without a bodyguard anyway.

Bettina: Money, success, fame, they all really cost a lot.

Bill: You should always be ready to give something in return. It is impossible to have everything. It is impossible to have a personal life, a girlfriend, such things do not come just like that. You have to accept it and deal with it. You have to give everything for it.

Bettina: Bill and Tom are now 20 years old. For 10 years they have been in business, for 5 years they are stars and today they are world stars. Their life rushes at high speeds, it is equally difficult in both positive and negative moments. No financial worries, millions of fans are always with them. For this - fear for your own life.

How much time has passed! Why did you decide to come back with Kings Of Suburbia after Humanoid?
Bill: We didn't have the feeling that it was so long. It took a long time to release the new album, but with the previous one we toured until the end of 2009. We were in America, Japan, Russia ... It took a long time. Then we took a break of four and a half years to just live, get inspired and relax a little. (Laughs) We have been working for a long time!

And you wanted to go back to the studio ...
Bill: Yes, we were slowly returning to the studio, working on new songs, writing. It also took time. This time we produced it ourselves, thereby involving ourselves in all stages of the album creation. More time was inevitable. Plus we are perfectionists, so we wanted to make the album as good as possible. We wanted to be proud of every detail. Five years fly by! (Laughs)

Your success has taken a rather unusual turn, especially with the obsessive behavior of some of your fans. It was almost crazy. Did this also affect the need for a break?
Bill: Yes, actually we moved to Los Angeles because of this. When we got back from the tour, we realized that we couldn't have a private life anymore, there was no life outside the band. We need balance. Especially as you grow up, you understand what you really want to do, what people you want to be with ... And you just need privacy. You need to breathe outside of your career. And at some point we lost this balance. We tried to recreate it, but it wasn't even funny anymore. After all, we spent 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with our bodyguards, as if we were in jail. And then we said to ourselves: "Let's leave here, to where we can have our own secret garden." In the end, we left for Los Angeles, which is cool. Nobody touched us, we discovered a new side of life. It was beneficial for us from all sides: human and musical. It was the right decision!

Are you not afraid that everything could happen again?
Bill: No, because we still live in Los Angeles. That's better. So we get involved in the frenzy for the promo, tour, and then we can go back to our little private life.

There are many fans outside the hotel now. Are you surprised they are there now, despite being away for many years?
Tom: Yes! We weren't very concerned about this. But five years is really a long time! Before the break, we called the recording studio and said that we wanted to pause, not to release the album right away, and everyone answered us: "Oh, this is a very important decision." Because in the world of music, business is constantly changing, big artists release music every day. (Laughs) They release a new album every half a year and a new single every two weeks ... Everything goes so fast! They only think about how to make a hit, blah blah blah ... Now if you take a break, there is no guarantee that you can come back. But we don't care! For starters, we trust our fans. But, of course, we won't take a break for another four years after Kings Of Suburbia. We want to make music and produce ourselves. Anyway, leaving, coming back and still seeing your fans is great.

But there was a risk that your fans would get carried away by other artists ...
Tom: No… I mean, I don’t worry about it until a group that is the best of ours comes along! (Laughs) I checked, everything is fine, we have nothing to fear!
Bill: (Laughs). Moreover, we can love a bunch of bands. There is no competition here, you don't have to look at it from that angle. First of all, it is a matter of music. It’s completely normal that after releasing one song, people don’t really like it, then you’ll release another that they like better, because people change ... Everything is the same for everyone. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Don't push too hard. The only thing to do is to make the music as good as possible. And that is exactly what we are trying to do. The key to success is always being confident in yourself and being happy with what you do.

Did you want to prove anything in particular with this album?
Bill: We weren't really trying to sound differently. We didn't have a clear plan for this return. Everything happened naturally. We have changed. I recorded "Monsoon" when I was 13, now I'm 25. Time has passed ... You grow up, you meet new people, things happen, you are interested in something new. You are changing!
Tom: The first thing in the studio I set up something on my computer, I didn't pick up a guitar. This happened later. It just came. We didn't ask what people wanted to hear ... We wanted to do what we wanted.

Why don't you sing in German anymore?
Bill: Previous albums were released in two versions: English and German. We did this because people expected it from us. But in the creative process it wasn’t natural. Now we wrote in English, which means that it needed to be translated. But this is really difficult, because sometimes we lost small details, emotions. We didn't like it. So it wasn't a good decision for the quality of the album. We told our record company, "We don't want to do this anymore." And besides, the songs have to be sung twice, and sometimes there is such a magical moment in the studio, something happens and you know this is the best recording. Impossible to repeat when you need to record the second version. Maybe in the future we will write songs in German!

This album is influenced by many styles: pop, funk, electro ... Why did you decide to take a chance now? It could have destabilized the audience ...
Tom: I think some are already a little destabilized.
Bill: Yes, but we haven't made music for a long time, so we wanted to try something new. And we took the opportunity.
Georg: And even more so, this is exactly the music that we like today!
Tom: First of all, we want to stay honest and true to ourselves. If we do what we love ... Some artists think differently: they keep the same style, they always do the same thing, because they know that the fans want to hear that.
Bill: I don't like to play safe. You need to take risks - this is life! It's interesting and similar to us. We don't want to give people what they want to hear.

Tokio Hotel said: "We are shocked that there is such homophobia in France"

Did you know that the song "Love Who Loves You Back" and the very sexy video could shock some people ...
Tom: It's true, they are a little more shocked than we thought! (Laughs) It's the same with the video for "Girl Got A Gun" - people went a little crazy. But I asked myself, “Why? This is my favorite video! " I didn't think there would be so much talk about Toko, the guy in blue, and he shocks them so much! I love this video! It's the same with "Love Who Loves You Back" - the idea came to us a long time ago. It is based on the German film "Perfume". There is a scene where people want to kill the main character. Hundreds of people shout at him, and he sprays perfume, and people begin to love him, love each other. We are moving from hate to love. We were in awe of this scene! We wanted to make a video in this spirit, so that everything turned into an orgy. We have no perfume, but we have music!
Bill: And this is a scandal, because people make a scandal out of it! There is no need to fuss. It's just love - that's the message. I don't understand people who say, "Oo-la-la, guys with guys, girls with girls." Enough, we are in 2014!

I don't know if you know, but the question of marriage for everyone shook France, it was quite stressful ... Does that shock you?
Bill: Of course, I'm still in shock when I hear such things, all this homophobia ...
Tom: We're shocked because it's the same story ...
Bill: Everyone has the right to love whoever he wants, we need to do away with the issues of gender, religion ... In some countries this is a problem. In others, everything is going well, it's wonderful! We shouldn't even ask these questions ...

With the song "Love Who Loves You Back", did you want to help your fans understand their orientation and accept their personality?
Bill: Yes. We want to give them self-confidence. I've always been like that ... I hate it when others tell you what to do, what to be, what to think and what to say. I believe in freedom. Everyone should be able to do what he loves, to love who he wants. We have always presented this idea, which is good.
Right, Bill, you have had to face a lot of criticism about your image. Was it hard to live?
Bill: The thing is, I'm used to it, because I was still young. (Smiling). I went to school with painted nails, with makeup ... I always had problems.
Tom: I was the older brother who defended him at recess!
Bill: I've always been at odds. Looking back, I can say, yes, it was a provocation, perhaps I was trying to provoke this reaction. But I never understood why it could be so disturbing to some. I wanted to show everyone that I didn’t care about them, I told them: “Fuck you!”, Confirming my opinion. I'm used to it, so I don't care if someone criticizes my style. It doesn't affect me in any way.

Tom: After winning Eurovision, they talk more about his appearance than the song, I must admit. But this is very good! This is a good sign.
Your music has changed. You too. The media still talks a lot about your appearance. Did you expect this?
Bill: Yes! This was expected. But for me this is normal: fashion, image, cover, photographs and all that, it all comes with what you create. The most important thing is that the music is always present. Talking about her is not the same as talking about everything else.
Bill, would you like to start a solo career?
Georg: I think! (Laughs)
Tom: I'll start something myself.
Bill: What? You and a solo career?
Tom: Yes, me and my huge cock! (They all laugh.) I'm just looking for a stage name. Maybe Tom Long Dong! (Laughs)
Bill: I never really thought about it. I feel good in the group, even musically I find myself in it. I am satisfied; we love what we do. I do not have this desire - to make a solo album. In any case, not right away. I love working with others. We would like to collaborate with one DJ soon ... Nothing planned yet. But I would love to launch my own clothing line! I have to take the time to do things well. I don't want to just stick my name on, I want to paint and so on ... I want to have a twist. I have been working on design for several years. When the time is right, the line will come out.

Since childhood, Bill Kaulitz was different from his peers, was fond of art and did not like exact sciences. Bill is 10 minutes younger than his twin brother Tom, they never break up and to this day spend their free time together.
