Especially popular are the Archos ARNOVA tablets, which have a very low price, but offer good functionality for everyday tasks.

Basically, Archos tablets run on the Android operating system, and customers can choose from models made in all major screen sizes. Separately, it should be noted that the French have extensive experience in creating multimedia devices. This allows the company's tablets in their segments to be among the best in terms of audio and video playback.

On the eve of the IFA 2016 exhibition, Archos introduced five new smartphones at once. And the French manufacturer brought new tablets to Berlin. The first of the new products was the 13.3-inch gadget Archos 133 Oxygen on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow platform.

Archos rarely gives lavish presentations of their new gadgets, so it's no surprise that the debut of the Archos 101 Xenon Lite went unnoticed. As the name implies, the novelty is a simplified version of the Archos 101 Xenon tablet.

Working for the firm for many years, Henri collaborated with Sci Des Vignerons along the way. Throughout its history, his team has produced a variety of devices, including laptops and peripherals. At the same time, Archos did not stop there, trying to take into account all the innovations and technological progress.

With the advent of the era of tablets and smartphones, she again managed to surprise the consumer by starting to produce these devices as well. In addition to Croah, the company's key figures were Loic Pourier, his deputy for operations and finance, and Marc de Courville, director of software development.

In 2009, the company actively produced handheld and portable computers with x86-compatible processors. So, in October, the Archos 9 tablet appeared, running on Windows 7. At the same time, the Archos 133 netbook appeared - a gadget with a 13.3-inch screen, an Intel processor and a webcam. In addition to high performance, the device had a stylish and attractive design. It ran on Windows 7.

In September, Arcos announced the launch of the Archos 5 Internet tablet. It was based on the Android OS and actually became an improved version of the gadget of the same name. The device is equipped with an ARM Cortex-A8 processor, a 4.8-inch display, sufficient flash memory, a micro-SD slot, built-in GPS, a radio and a Bluetooth module.

Later, tablets of the Archos 7 series began to be produced. Android was also chosen as the platform. The next gadget, the 8th series, looked like a digital photo frame, but in fact it was a full-fledged computer system. The manufacturer equipped the device with an 8-inch screen 800x600 pixels.


At the end of August 2010, Archos announced the launch of the eighth generation of its tablets. A total of five gadgets were released.

In 2011, the company launched a series of inexpensive Android tablets under its new Arnova brand. It was designed for the mass consumer. The devices were sold at a price of €100-200. Modern models have resistive touch screens and are also powered by Rockchip. All gadgets have Wi-Fi support.

In addition, modern models support the AppsLib app store. There is no official Android store, but due to the fact that the owners of Arnova devices are easy to root, they easily install the corresponding application.

In 2011, Arcos announced the planned release of the $199 Honeycomb tablet. G9 tablets are powered by a TI OMAP4 processor with a frequency of 1, 1.2 or 1.5 GHz. The manufacturer equipped them with 512 MB or 1 GB of RAM.

Modifications were provided for 8 or 16 GB of flash memory, as well as a micro-SDHC slot or a 250 GB hard drive. The earliest versions of these Android tablets already had official access to Google Play. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS modules were also provided.


The tenth generation of the company's tablets was released under the general name Name Gen 10 XS.

As already mentioned, digital video cameras, audio / video players and PDAs can be attributed to the number of the most popular gadgets of the brand. So, in 2009, Archos introduced the 24 Vision pocket MP3 player, a stylish device with a 2.4-inch color screen, suitable for viewing photos. The manufacturer equipped it with 8 GB of disk space, which could fit up to 4000 songs, as well as a built-in FM radio.

Another notable player of a similar line was 3 Vision. It had a 3-inch LCD color touch screen, MP3, FLV, AVI, WMA and JPG support. In addition to 4,000 songs, dozens of movies could be stored on the device. Of the technical characteristics, it would be worth noting 8 GB of internal memory, compatibility with Windows or Mac and Linux, USB 2.0 interface support, a voice recorder, support for text files.

Other applications included a clock, a calendar, an adjustable audio equalizer, a stopwatch, and a multilingual interface. The battery could withstand 214 hours of continuous music playback and 4 hours of video playback.


In general, Arcos made sure that the Vision line was quite extensive. In addition to the aforementioned gadgets, it included 3cam Vision - a media player with a built-in camera for taking pictures and recording video.

It is worth highlighting the 43 Vision - a model with a 4.3-inch screen that can work offline for 30 hours. The thickness of this device was 10 mm, and it weighed only 280 grams. The 18 Vision player attracted a potential buyer with its affordable price with 12 hours of battery life.

The line also included the 15 Vision, a device that is only 6 mm thick and weighs 18 grams and is very easy to use. This player combined exceptional portability along with 4 GB of memory and a built-in FM radio. Well, the smallest models were 1 Vision and 2 Vision, the first of which was smaller than a credit card and lighter than a package of chewing gum.


In December 2012, Archos released the 13.3-inch FamilyPad tablet, which retailed for €299. Obviously, this gadget surpassed all similar ones in size, that is, its diagonal was larger than the usual 9.7. Only the Excite™ 13 tablet from Toshiba had similar dimensions (its production has already been discontinued).


In March 2013, Arcos released the FamilyPad 2, a family tablet with an improved processor. This gadget also had a 13.3-inch screen, 8 GB of ROM + micro-SD support and 1 GB of RAM.

Its release just coincided with the “tablet mania”, when users began to take an active interest in tablets and buy them. He worked on the basis of the Android OS - six days of standby time and 10 hours of continuous video playback.

Another well-known line of tablets from the company is Element. Archos introduced it in 2013. Various chemical elements were used as names for tablets. Basically, the manufacturer promoted the Titanium & Platinum series, which it presented to the general public at CES 2013.

The company said that each of the tablet models in this line was created in order to compete with the leading gadgets on the market, but at a much more affordable price (we were talking about Amazon devices, as well as iPad and iPad mini).

Older, discontinued products from the French manufacturer include various PDAs, camcorders, AV equipment, storage media, and peripherals for the Commodore Amiga line.

In 2007, the ACP content portal appeared, and this event coincided with the appearance of the fifth generation of the company's gadgets. Almost simultaneously, the Archos device came out, capable of turning an ordinary home TV into a Smart TV - for example, you could watch YouTube videos, check e-mail, surf the web, use social networks, and so on.

The content portal provided videos specifically for Internet-enabled gadgets. However, there was no PC-compatible software for the service.

The main difference from similar services was that these "portals" were served by different intermediaries. Arcos has many ACP partners around the world, but they differ depending on the region in which they are present.

In the summer of the same year, Cinebank announced MoovyPlay, a device co-developed with Archos. This new project had all the advantages of a conventional video rental, without the need to return the film. The equipment was based on an Archos reader and offered a capacity of 40 GB.


The drive was connected to a docking station, similar to those that the French company equipped with its players. Gadget owners could download one or several lists at once without additional equipment. The device was launched in France in December 2007 and had some early success.

DISH Network Corporation, which has owned a 19% stake in the French company since 2005, began selling the company's portable video players under the PocketDish brand. Initially, there were only three models. While the original units were no longer available, in December 2007 Dish Network announced a new similar deal that made high-speed data transfer possible from current HD receivers.

Unlike PocketDish devices, the products were not to be sold through rebranding. Instead, the software was made available for free. They were expected to be on sale in January. In 2008, the web page of the above brand was updated specifically for the presentation of new services and products.

In the late spring of 2007, American Airlines unveiled plans to modify two French manufacturer's portable players for first-class passengers to entertain them in-flight.

Archos has been seen collaborating with other organizations as well. For example, Opera Software developed a web browser for its devices. This is the version of Opera for mobile devices - similar to the one that runs on the Wii video game console.

Support for Adobe Flash has been added on fifth generation devices. In mid-spring 2008, full support for Flash 9 was announced.

At the end of 2007, the mobile operator SFR announced the creation of a new device together with Archos. Later, Archos 5g will be available at a reduced price for contract subscribers. A similar deal was made in 2008 with Blockbuster.

One of the latest known mobile innovations from Archos is the 55 Diamond Selfie smartphone, which was released in August 2016.


The device is equipped with a 5.50-inch touch screen with a resolution of 1080 by 1920 pixels. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor running at 1.4GHz and has 4GB of RAM.

The smartphone is also equipped with 64 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 128 GB using a micro-SD card. In terms of photography, there is a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies.

The device runs on Android 6.0 and is powered by a 3000 mAh removable battery. There is a slot for only one SIM-card format Micro-SIM. Other modules include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G. There are also proximity and ambient light sensors, an accelerometer and a gyroscope.
