In an interview with the men's Internet portal AskMen.com, Dasha admitted that she began dreaming of becoming a Playboy model at the age of nine, when she accidentally found an issue of the magazine at home with Katharina Witt on the cover. In April 2006, Astafieva became the “playmate of the month” of the Ukrainian edition of Playboy, and the following year, 2007, she won the “girl of the year” title.
