How to hang tulle on curtain tape: basic rules. How to use curtain tapes? Assembling curtains on tape types

Where to begin

With the advent of curtain tape, securing curtains to the curtain rod has become easier. Now there is no need to use metal clips that damage the fabric, or sew numerous loops to the curtains by hand.

Curtain tape is a transparent or white tape of various widths. It is attached to the wrong side of the top of the curtain. In the center the braid has a seal in which ready-made loops are made for hanging the product on hooks.

Several cords run parallel to each other along the entire length of the tape. With their help, the size and frequency of folds on the curtains are controlled.

Types of curtain tape

Curtain tape can be from 1.5 to 10 cm wide. Thin tape is used for hanging small sheets of light fabrics. To attach heavy curtains, you will need a wide braid. It creates the possibility of additional decorative drapery on the upper edge of the product.

There are different types of curtain tape:

  • Transparent - suitable for thin, translucent fabrics, as it is invisible;
  • White - used in all other cases, especially for hard fabrics such as velvet, brocade, jacquard.

There are also tapes for making various draperies on curtains:

  • Formation of simple waves;
  • Making bow folds;
  • Formation of folds in the form of cylinders.

According to the method of fastening, curtain tape is distinguished:

  • Sew on- attached to the curtain panel with a sewing machine;
  • Adhesive- attached to the fabric using a hot iron. This type of tape is suitable for thin short curtains that are light in weight.

According to the assembly configuration, curtain tapes are distinguished:

  • To form folds horizontally. This type of braid is used for hanging classic curtains, curtains, lambrequins, Italian curtains;
  • For placing folds vertically. This tape is used in lifting window structures (French, Roman).

The tape may have several rows of loops. Loops in two rows allow you to hang curtains on hooks and form simple folds. More rows (3-4) are used to assemble the canvases, forming the decorative upper edge of the product.

This is interesting: In total, there are about 70 types of curtain tape. For curtain rods, there is a special braid that is put directly on the pipe.

Methods of application

The braid is attached to the upper edge of the curtain from the wrong side, making an indentation from the edge of 2-5 mm. Its edges are turned inward by 2 cm. Then they begin to tighten the cords, forming folds of the required size and frequency. When the drapery is formed, the ends of the cords are tied and fixed at the edges of the curtain.

The fabric assembly coefficient may vary. The most commonly used indicator is 2-2.5. The larger it is, the more magnificent the curtains will look.

To calculate the footage of curtain tape, you need to multiply the length of the curtain rod by the assembly factor of the mounting tape. In this case, it is necessary to provide allowances of 4 cm on each side (for processing the edges of the product).

Pulling the braid by hand is a labor-intensive process, but it is what allows you to get expressive folds. When forming them, you must ensure that they are the same size. Examples of tightening threads are shown in the diagram.

TYPES of decorative folds on braid

Most often, curtains are draped using one-sided folds. To do this, the fabric is laid in one direction in equal waves.

You can diversify this drapery by adding counter folds. In this case, the fabric is divided into pairs of waves, directing their ridges towards each other.

The opposite of counter pleats are bow pleats. They are formed in a similar way, only the crests of paired waves move in different directions. In appearance, this design resembles a flat bow, hence its name.

In order for the bow folds on the curtains to look impressive, the width of the canvas must be at least 2 times the length of the cornice; assembly is carried out with a coefficient of 2.5-3. It is also necessary to provide 8-10 cm for the design of the side seams of the product.

Uniform folds along the entire length of the braid are called waffle folds. This drapery is simple, but at the same time elegant.

Identical loop-like folds on the tape are called pencil assembly. The curtain is hung on the cornice in a straightened form, only after this they begin to form uniform folds across the entire width of the canvas, taking into account the spaces between the hooks. There are no crossbars in this tape, so it can be tightened arbitrarily. The optimal tape assembly factor is 2.5-3.

Flemish folds will help give curtains an original appearance. To form them, a wide braid with two rows of threads is used. These folds are made by pulling the upper and lower cords of the ribbon together to form a V-shaped element. After tightening the threads, the bottom of the folds must be pulled together well and the top straightened so that the cord is not visible. Assembly coefficient - 2.

Please note: making Flemish folds on curtains will require some skill.

Puff folds on curtains look original. They are shaped like diamonds, drawn together along the top and bottom edges, which form a widening in the middle. To form them, a special tape with limiters with an assembly coefficient of 2.7 is used.

Features of tape tightening

To avoid sagging of the curtain fabric, it is recommended that you use two people to tighten the tape. If there is no assistant, then one end of the curtain needs to be secured to something (a closet door or door handle will do).

Tightening is performed using the following technology: with one hand you need to hold the cords of the braid, and with the other you need to move the fabric towards the center of the curtain. The movement is carried out until uniform folds are formed along the entire length of the braid. After this, you need to check that the width of the curtain matches the length of the curtain rod and you can start hanging the curtains.

Benefits of using curtain tape

The use of a special braid greatly simplifies the installation of curtains on the cornice. This device allows you to:

  • Change the height of the curtains thanks to the presence of several rows of loops. To make curtains shorter or longer, you just need to hook them onto another row with hooks;
  • Keep the canvas in its original form. After washing, the curtains on the mounting tape will quickly restore their shape on the cornice;
  • Adapt the window frame to any interior style. The main thing is to correctly choose the colors of the paintings and accessories.

On a note: Curtains with braid can be hung either on a track curtain rod or on a rod.

Features of choosing curtain tape

In order for the curtains to look beautiful on the cornice, it is important to choose the right mounting tape for them. Features of choosing braid:

  • For light short curtains (made of voile, organza, chintz, silk) up to the window sill, a narrow ribbon with two rows of loops is suitable;
  • To curtain massive porters you will need a wide ribbon. It will allow the product to keep its shape, not sag on the cornice, and form beautiful triple folds on the canvas;
  • To obtain puffs, a special braid is used.

Important: When choosing a braid, tell the seller what effect you want to achieve. The accuracy of fastening the curtains, their decorative effect, and the airiness of the folds depend on the correctness of its choice.

The advent of braid for curtains greatly simplified the work of fixing them on the cornice. This element also created additional opportunities for decorating canvases - the formation of even, arbitrary, bow, and cylindrical folds. A huge range of curtain tapes allows you to experiment with window design, adding attractiveness and comfort to your home.

Curtain tape is transparent or white braid. It is sewn at the top of the curtain from the wrong side. The braid already has loops for hooks, rings, Velcro or seals to add rigidity. Cords are sewn into the tape; with their help, you can adjust the density and number of folds. The tape helps to make smooth and beautiful folds on curtains without much effort.

Before buying curtain tape, you need to know what types there are, as well as identify some of its features.

Curtain tape is used for:

Tape marking:

  1. T is for organza.
  2. /Z – transparent materials.
  3. F – for light curtains.
  4. Z – for thick, heavy curtains.
  5. U – universal.

When buying curtain tape, you need to take into account the assembly factor. It depends on the type of folds formed. Varies from 1.5 to 3. Shows how much fabric will be needed to assemble one meter of pleats using braid. To obtain an assembled curtain 1 m wide, you need fabric with a width of 1.5 to 3 m. You need to add another 8 cm for finishing the edges.

Types of braid

The braid varies in width, appearance and method of fixation.

Width:

Wide. The width of the braid varies from 2.5 to 10 cm. It is used for heavy, dense fabrics. Forms beautiful, dense folds.

Where it is used:

  1. Open cornice (tube with rings). The hooks are not covered with a bar and are not hidden in a niche.
  2. Few hooks and a wide curtain. A wide ribbon will allow you to make folds and will hold them in place.
  3. To make the top edge of the curtain look beautiful, sew on a wide braid. It will allow you to create a beautiful drapery.

Narrow. Sewn to light curtains.

Where it is used:

  1. Closed cornice, no hooks visible.
  2. The cornice is hidden in the ceiling niche.
  3. The curtain is complemented by a lambrequin or has drapery at the top.

By appearance:

  1. Transparent. Made from fishing line, used for light, transparent and translucent fabrics. Looks unnoticeable.
  2. White, fabric. Used for thick, heavy curtains. It shrinks and must be wetted and then dried before use.

By fixation method:

  1. Sew-on. Attached to the product using a sewing machine.
  2. Sticky. Has Velcro, suitable for light curtains or curtains with a lifting mechanism. The fixation method is not very reliable.
  3. Magnetic. Provides reliable fixation. Suitable for curtains with a lifting mechanism and lambrequins.

Curtain tape: types of folds

Complex folds can only be created using wide braid, more than 5 cm wide.

Simple assembly (accordion). Suitable for tulle or curtains made of light fabrics.

One-sided folds. The fabric is folded in equal waves in one direction.

Counter folds. The fabric is folded in equal waves directed towards each other.

Bow pleats. Paired folds. The waves are directed in opposite directions.

Pencil folds (classic). The fabric is gathered in the form of an accordion, but the folds are rounded.

Folded glasses (fladman). They look voluminous and are suitable for long curtains. For effectiveness, filler in the form of padding polyester is used.

Puff folds (butterfly). They have a rhombus shape.

French folds. A difficult option that requires professionalism.

Fan folds. They have a common point from which the folds extend, forming a fan.

Tulle ribbon

For tulle, it is better to choose a transparent curtain tape of medium width so that it does not stand out too much. You need to sew it to the tulle in the same way as to a regular curtain, but you must first secure the braid manually with large ties so that the tape does not move out.

Adhesive tape for curtains is a modern option. One part of the Velcro is attached to the curtain rod, and the second part is sewn onto the curtain. This option is used for curtains with a lifting mechanism or for lambrequins. The fabric should be light, otherwise the Velcro will not hold the curtain.

It’s easy to sew curtain tape with your own hands:

Assembling folds with your own hands

The folds are assembled by tightening the cords. They are pulled simultaneously from both sides, so an assistant will be required. If it is not possible to attract an assistant, you need to firmly fix the second edge and assemble it. When the work is finished, it is good to fix the edges of the cord. The folds need to be evenly distributed, and the curtain can be hung on the curtain rod.

Curtain tape is bought in this length so that it is equal to the width of the canvas, not the cornice. After it is sewn onto the fabric and the threads are pulled together, beautiful coattails will be formed on the canvas.

You should not save money on buying braid. Poor quality tape will not hold the assembly.

How to make tucks with your own hands

If you don’t have experience, it’s not easy to make tucks on curtains with your own hands, without using curtain tape. It is necessary to correctly calculate the quantity the required material, taking into account the tucks, arrange the tucks evenly and work carefully. If done incorrectly, the curtain may become pulled.

The braid not only simplifies the work of fixing, it also serves as an additional decoration for the canvas. A large assortment of curtain tape allows you to experiment with the decorative design of the window, giving it attractiveness and charm.

How to understand the wide variety of curtain tapes, because stores offer such a wide range. It's very easy to get confused. Choosing a tape for curtains, drapes, curtains is especially difficult for those who are new to designing curtains, fabric trim of windows and doorways, or other forms of design that require an element such as curtain tape.

The curtains will be fuller if the gather factor is higher.

The embodiment of your design idea directly depends on what braid you choose.

Purpose of the fittings

Curtain tape is a braid with laces and loops pulled through the entire length. The point is that after securing the braid to the fabric, the laces are carefully pulled out, helping to form a gather of the required width and quantity.

Its purpose is to create artistic draperies; it serves as a frame for folds, affects the appearance, aesthetics, and forms the edge of curtains. Proper execution of folds of various shapes allows you to give a very beautiful finished look. Moreover, there are many options for forming assemblies. These are puffs, ruffles, glasses, bows, waffles, beam, pencil, cylindrical folds, etc. This braid also has practical significance, since it contains special elements - hooks, with the help of which the curtain is attached to the cornice.

You can contact a studio or do the design yourself. One has only to decide which elements will be included in the overall composition, whether curtains, garters, weights, etc. will be needed. It is necessary to determine the amount of fabric to be processed. The length of the purchased tape will depend on this.

Return to contents

Selection of accessories

The length of the purchased fittings depends on the number and type of gathers on the curtains.

There is a coefficient - the pitch of the tape, depending on the width of the curtain.

Based on the width of the fabric, choose a tape with the desired pitch.

The stage of determining the coefficient should be approached carefully, arm yourself with a centimeter and determine the width of the fabric.

Step coefficients depending on the type of assemblies:

  • standard (simple) assembly – step 1.5 or 1:1.5 (i.e., to obtain 1 m of decorated curtain, 1.5 m of tape is required), suitable for any fabric;
  • for making puffs, ruffles, “waffles” - in steps of 2 (puffs are suitable for plain fabrics and with a pattern, ruffles - only for plain fabrics);
  • for making radial and bow folds - in increments of 2.5, more suitable for plain fabrics;
  • for making triple and cylindrical folds - in steps of 3.

The more fabric used to create folds, the more magnificent the curtains will be. You should also remember: the denser the fabric, the fewer gathers you can make.

The main material for making curtain tape is polyester. Caring for polyester material is not difficult: it can be hand and machine washed, as well as dry cleaned and ironed. High-quality accessories should be made of 100% polyester; such material is not subject to shrinkage and deformation. They differ in the number of loops, pockets for hooks, the number of cords, and seals for rigid lambrequins.

There are 2 types of curtain tapes:

  • thin and transparent for light fabrics (organza, tulle, guipure);
  • dense for heavy fabric (drapes).

They are distinguished by width - from 2.3 to 10 cm. If you do not plan to cover the curtains with a lambrequin, then you should choose a wide tape for the curtains. With a wide ribbon, curtains look colorful and rich. Their loop pockets can be arranged in several rows. Thanks to this, you can cover the unattractive cornice with the edge of the curtains, using the bottom row of loops. Wide curtain tapes are more expensive than narrow ones; their advantage is the ability to form several types of folds. If the curtain tape is used only as an accessory that allows you to attach the curtain to the cornice, and there is no goal to give the curtain a design and use it as a decoration, then it is better to purchase a narrow one.

Content

Buying fabric is only part of the process when it comes to getting beautiful, eye-catching curtains. It is very important to fix them correctly so that they frame the window opening attractively. To solve this problem, curtain tape is used, with which you can make beautiful folds on the curtain attached to the cornice. Wide or narrow braid is the basis for the formation of any folds, along the entire length of which cords are laid. Some products are complemented by pockets for hooks, rings for eyelets, and seals.

What is curtain tape

Curtain tape means transparent or white braid of different thicknesses, which is attached to the wrong side of the upper part of the textile. In the center of the tape there is a seal - ready-made loops are made in it, necessary for hanging the product on special hooks. Several cords run along the entire length of the product, parallel to each other. Thanks to their presence, you can regulate the size and frequency of folds on the curtains. The appearance of such braid simplified the process of fixing the curtain on the cornice, because There is no need to use metal clamps.

Types of folds

Depending on the configuration, curtain tape is divided into products for forming folds horizontally and vertically. The first ones are used for hanging classic curtains, lambrequins, curtains, and Italian curtains. The tape for vertical drapery is suitable for sash window designs, for example, Roman, French. You can order suitable braid in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of the country in a specialized online textile store with delivery by mail. Varieties of decorative assemblies on braid:

  • Often the curtain fabric is draped in one-sided uniform folds. For this purpose, the material is laid in one direction using identical waves. To diversify this drapery, you will need to lay counter folds - the fabric is divided into pairs of waves and their ridges are directed towards each other.
  • Bow folds are opposite to the oncoming folds - they are formed in a similar way, but the crests of the paired waves extend in different directions. Externally, the design is similar to a flat bow, hence the name. Assembly factor – 2.5-3.
  • Folds that are uniform along the entire length are called waffle folds - although such drapery is considered a simple assembly, it is quite elegant.
  • Pencil gathering - this is the name given to the identical loop-shaped folds. There are no crossbars, so this tape can be tightened arbitrarily. For assembling the product, the optimal coefficient is 2.5 or 3.
  • Flemish folds give the curtains an original appearance. To form them, a wide braid with two rows of threads is used. When making such an assembly, the upper and lower cords of the product are pulled together so that the final result is a V-shaped element.
  • Puff pleats look good on curtains. In shape they are similar to rhombuses, pulled together along the lower and upper edges. An expansion forms in the middle. To form this type of folds, a special tape with limiters is used.

How to sew

Before you make Flemish or French pleats on light or heavy fabrics, learn how to sew curtain tape correctly. With a competent approach, taking into account all the features, it will not be so difficult to obtain beautiful folds using a special tape. Thick braid is taken with a reserve, because After steaming it may shrink. Sequencing:

  1. First of all, process the edges of the textile.
  2. Next, fold the back of the curtain to the width of the tape or more. Cut the edge along the entire length of the canvas.
  3. Iron the edge of the fabric to about 3 cm.
  4. Then the curtain braid with the released cords is sewn to the underside of the fabric at a distance of up to 1 cm from the bend.
  5. Make a line along the length of the textile at the very top. The second line needs to be made from the bottom of the braid - also along the length of the fabric.
  6. Finally, iron the product and gather the braid to the desired length.

How to pull

As for tightening, this action must be performed simultaneously from all cords from each edge. It is better to solve this problem together, otherwise you will have to fix one edge with improvised means. Stretch the braid during assembly, causing folds to form. After collecting the ribbon, try it on and select the appropriate length. Then distribute the fold evenly, securing the skeins of cords - the distance between the hooks should be up to 10 cm. All that remains is to hang the curtains on the curtain tape.

Types of curtain tapes

On sale today you can find a large assortment of tapes for curtains and drapes, which are made of dense transparent or opaque fabrics. Curtain tape for curtain rods has a width of 1.5-10 cm. A wide tape is ideal for attaching heavy curtains, and a thin tape is ideal for small fabrics made of light fabrics, for example, tulle, organza. Depending on the method of fastening, products are distinguished:

  • Sew-on. Attached to textile fabric using a sewing machine.
  • Adhesive. Attached to the material by treatment with a hot iron. Such ribbons are suitable for short and thin curtains that are lightweight.

Curtain type tape can have several rows of loops. For example, loops in 3-4 rows are suitable for assembling canvases and forming a decorative top edge. There are products that are designed only for hooks or Velcro. There are often options suitable for curtains with eyelets, strings and pipe cornices. Types of curtain tapes and their use in terms of transparency:

  • Transparent. Excellent for canvases made of thin translucent fabrics, because... are invisible. Among curtain tapes made of transparent material, nylon tape is quite popular.
  • White. Apply in all other cases. Particularly suitable for stiff fabrics, such as velvet, brocade, jacquard. Such curtain tape is often made of polyester, which holds the fabric well and fits tightly to it.

The length of the tape is determined by the density of the curtain's gathering. For convenience, a special coefficient is used, for example, with a value of 1 to 3, for a meter of curtain you need three meters of curtain fabric. To obtain the full width of the fabric, add another 10 cm to the hem for the side edges. Coefficients for different curtain products:

  • 1.5 – simple assembly;
  • 2 – waffles, ruffles;
  • 2.5 – radial and bow folds;
  • 3 – triple or cylindrical assemblies.

Eyelet tape for curtains

When buying curtains with tape, focus on the footage, length of the curtain rod and fabric. As for the assembly pattern that will be laid on the curtains, you can see it by pulling the laces - you need to hold the tape itself. To highlight the attractiveness of curtains and create a textured, stylish and uniform drapery, use grommet tape. • cons: expensive.

How to choose curtain tape

When choosing curtain tape, you must adhere to the style of the interior. For example, you are unlikely to want to buy a strict fold for the bedroom - it is more appropriate in the office. Pay attention to the fabric itself, the parameters of which must be taken into account so that it fits well into a particular assembly. If the fabric turns out to be stiff, then take a close look at how it will be assembled, because... The drawing should completely suit you. Other useful tips:

  • For light short curtains made of organza, chintz, silk, veil and other materials up to the window sill, a narrow option with two rows of loops is optimal.
  • A wide product will be needed if you need to curtain massive porters. With its help, textiles will keep their shape without sagging on the eaves and forming aesthetic triple assemblies on the canvas.
  • If the curtains are installed on a hidden cornice and a deep niche is expected, then there is no need to purchase expensive products with special fixed folds. In this case, a product with uniform assembly will be a win-win option.

If you are planning to hang a curtain or tulle on a curtain tape yourself, then you need to know several very important factors that will determine the final result.

Until recently, the process of hanging new or just washed curtains turned into a real torment, because you need not only to hang, but also to drape the fabric beautifully, otherwise it will completely lose its aesthetic function. Therefore, I had to suffer quite a bit, calculating the necessary intervals and fixing the curtains.

But with the advent of curtain tape, this process has become much simpler, because this accessory allows you to completely prepare the canvas; all that remains is to simply put it on the curtain rod. In order to save yourself from unnecessary hassle and forever forget about standing for a long time with your head and arms raised high, we will try to understand the features of the choice in as much detail as possible, and will also tell you how to hang curtains on curtain tape.

Types of mounting tape

The process of installing curtain fabric is preceded by a long period of selecting all the necessary accessories, including curtain tape, the variety of models of which can lead novice designers to a dead end. You can understand what fabric a particular tape is intended for visually: transparent is used on light curtains (mesh, voile, organza, silk), where a dense one will be noticeable, white, in turn, is suitable for curtains made of dense, non-transparent fabrics .

The width, which can range from 2.5 to 10 centimeters, also matters. As a rule, narrow (2.5-4 cm) braids are used on curtains where drapery is not needed: with a baguette cornice or a niche built into the ceiling; they are also suitable for thin fabrics that can be easily draped. Ribbons from 5 centimeters in width have not only a fixation function, but also a decorative one, since with their help you can create various types of folds, which become more complex as the width of the tape increases.

Wide ribbons are used on thick fabrics to create a beautiful pattern, and they can also be used to hide an unsightly cornice by simply moving the hooks to a lower level. Thus, the stable upper part of the curtain will simply hide the pipe behind itself, and there will be no need to purchase it along with new curtains. Depending on the width and complexity of the pattern, there may be 2, 3, or 4 rows of pockets for hooks, with the help of which the height of the curtain can be varied.

The tapes also differ in the method of fixation, depending on the type of curtains and curtain rods on which they need to be hung. If you purchase a tape that does not match your curtain rod, you will never be able to figure out how to hang curtains on this type of curtain tape. For example, a model with built-in eyelets is suitable for pipe curtain rods; for string curtain rods, there is also a special type that has loops into which the string is pulled, there are Velcro that allows you to fix both hard gangs and soft lambrequins, as well as options for curtains with vertical gathering, where special rings are sewn in, through which a lifting cable is passed, raising the Roman curtains. A similar model can also be used on blinds.

Build factor

This term refers to the ratio of flat fabric for curtains to that already assembled using tape. Depending on the complexity of the pattern, there are 1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3. That is, when buying a tape with a gathering factor of 2, you will get 2 meters of draped curtain from a fabric fabric 4 meters wide.

As a rule, this indicator is initially indicated on the packaging. It must be taken into account not only when calculating the required amount of fabric, but also when purchasing the braid itself, because it is sewn onto a flat fabric and pulled together only before attaching the curtains to the curtain tape. You can find out the required length by multiplying the width of the cornice by the assembly factor + 6-8 centimeters for the edges.

For example, for a cornice 3 meters wide, we buy a tape with a gathering factor of 2. We calculate the required quantity as follows: 2*3+0.8 = 6.8 meters of tape we will need, and curtains, respectively, 2*3 = 6 meters.

Assembly options

Depending on the width and density of the tape, it can be used to create a number of different patterns, from the most ordinary waves to real masterpieces. The most popular are:

  1. The simplest option is designed to obtain uniform folds. As a rule, the assembly coefficient in such a model is 1.5. The simplest and most uncomplicated pattern, which also does not require a lot of fabric. Even the narrowest ribbon is suitable for creating such drapery. It will be most convenient to hang tulle on such a curtain tape;
  2. Bow fold. It looks like single or double bows located close to each other. The minimum coefficient in this case is 2.5, sometimes it can reach 3;
  3. Glasses. Very refined and sophisticated look of folds. The fabric, gathered at the bottom with a triple tuck, forms something like a glass at the top. To create them, you need a tape with two rows of cords and a coefficient of 2.5;
  4. Buffs. A rather lush and original pattern in the form of several rows of diamonds can be formed only with the help of a wide ribbon with at least 4 rows of cords. Looks beautiful on thick expensive fabrics. The assembly factor also starts from 2.5;
  5. The most expensive fabrics, but at the same time incredibly elegant and sophisticated, are French or triple folds. Here the coefficient is 3, that is, to get 1 meter of curtains draped in this way, we must purchase 3 meters of fabric. Typically used on thick curtains. Has several rows of pockets for adjusting the seat height;
  6. Waffles or ruffles add pomp and airiness to the interior; counter folds, reminiscent of small water ripples, also have a similar effect. To create them you need a thick and wide tape with a coefficient of 2.

Assembly and installation of curtains

It doesn’t matter whether you purchased a curtain with a built-in ribbon or chose each detail yourself, the question of how to assemble curtains on a ribbon will certainly arise before you, because not everyone knows the intricacies of this process. So, how can we create beautiful drapery using braid? Let's describe this process step by step.

  1. We check the cords in the already sewn tape. They must be tied, otherwise when tightened they will simply pull out and will only add to your headache. We tie untied cords (cords) into a tight bundle and check its density.
  2. Now let's start assembling. We need to take into account the width we will be collecting, adjusting the density of the pattern accordingly. As a rule, curtains that are often drawn apart are either not assembled at all, or the folds on them are minimal. It is most convenient to make the tie with an assistant to pull from both sides. If there are no such in the house, then, having secured the threads on both edges, we begin to form the most dense folds, gradually moving them to the opposite edge.
  3. Having assembled the tape in this way, we check the uniformity and density of the resulting pattern, after which we can begin installation. We recommend that you pay attention to the rigidity of the folds when purchasing the tape by pulling it straight in the store. It is better not to purchase a model that is not strong enough, since it will not be able to hold the design properly.
  4. And the last step is to fix our folds, because an unsecured thread will certainly fall into place, nullifying all our efforts. Having received the desired pattern, we secure the edge with a knot. To prevent the rest of the thread from hanging along the curtain, we wind it around several fingers into a neat skein, the middle of which is tied with the free edge. It turns out something like a thread bow. We can also “reliably” hide it, hiding it from prying eyes, simply by threading the top edge under the top cord, and the bottom edge under the bottom cord.

Not knowing how to properly hang curtains on curtain tape , many people try to put hooks on the cords. This step is fundamentally wrong, since under the weight of the fabric the threads will begin to sag, thereby completely ruining the appearance of the curtain. Hooks and other fastening elements are threaded only into special fabric pockets, of which there may be several rows.

This device is very convenient because it allows you to adjust the height of the curtain. For example, if you are slightly wrong with the height of the curtain or curtain, you can simply move the hooks to the top row; you can hide the unsightly cornice with the same manipulation, but using the bottom row of pockets. It is better to place the hooks at a distance of 5-6 centimeters, this way you will protect yourself from sagging of the canvas.
